This also helps bring the story full circle, as Desmond started on his Assassins journey at Abstergo against his will. The only problems I could see with this are 1. It would take away the Animus aspect from the game, 2. What would Ubisoft do for a story line if they wanted to make AC5?<br /> <br /> Idk how to solve the first problem, but I have an idea for the second problem. If AC4 would result in Abstergo becoming defunct and sending the Templars into hiding, I could see AC5 going years into the future (say the 2020s or 2030s) and telling about the rebirth and rise of the Templars and how the Assassins deal with that through a new character (possibly Desmonds future daughter? It would be great to have a female lead character for a change). I'm rambling at this point, but I think they could turn that into some great games. So hopefully Ubisoft takes their fans' opinions into consideration when creating games.</div>

However, there is no proof that these Templars and the Templars from the Crusades are the same group. These current Templars also fully deny such a link. However, there is a theory that Freemasonry is the direct descendent of the Templars after members fled to countries where suppression wasn't enforced. If Ubisoft wanted to play with this theory, they may very well make the Free Masons members of the Knights Templar. But seeing how George Washington (who was an open Free Mason) and Connor (the main Assassin character in AC3) are supposed to have a mutual relationship within the game, I think that the writers of the game will give Mason support to the Assassins.</div>
