==Biography==
===Imprisonment by Templars===
The Templar Order located Roberts sometime in 1715 and took him to [[Havana]], where he was imprisoned in the estate of [[Laureano de Torres y Ayala]]. Torres, his fellow Templars [[Woodes Rogers]] and [[Julien du Casse]], along with [[Edward Kenway]] – under the guise of the turncoat [[Assassins|Assassin]] [[Duncan Walpole]] – met Roberts at the Havana docks before taking him to the prison. 

During the transit, he managed to break free when the Templars were attacked by the Assassins sent by [[Ah Tabai]], but was chased down by Kenway and escorted to Torres' estate. He was moved later that same day, but escaped soon after and took to the sea. 

===Slaving in Kingston and Príncipe===
In 1717, the Templars learned that Roberts had been recaptured by a [[Kingston]]-based [[Slavery|slaver]] named [[Laurens Prins]], who had indeed encountered Roberts, but had in fact employed him in the slaving business, allowing him to stay in his Kingston estate before planning to sell him out to the Templars. 

When Edward Kenway killed Prins, Roberts escaped once more and commandeered Prins' ship, the ''[[Princess]]''. It made regular trips between Kingston and the African nation of [[Príncipe]], where Roberts eventually went into hiding after the ship was captured by Templars in late 1718. 

===Piracy===
When Kenway found Roberts hiding in the African jungle in 1719, he struck a deal with the Sage to free his imprisoned crew in exchange for Roberts leading him to the [[First Civilization]] site known as the [[Observatory]]. Kenway killed the Templars in Príncipe, freed the crew, and took the [[Man O' War]] HMS ''[[Royal Fortune]]''. Roberts gave a speech to his crew declaring his intentions to sail as a pirate, and the two captains sailed back to the West Indies. 

In the following months, Roberts made a name for himself, taking ships and making a fortune. He called himself "Black Bart" and kept his crew to high standards with an [[Pirate code of Bartholomew Roberts|eleven-part creed]]; it discouraged gambling on the ship, required the men to keep their equipment in good working order, and provided that pirates should live their lives as fully as possible and die before they became weak and old, vulnerable to having their power stripped from them: a philosophy he summed up with the words "a merry life and a short one." 

Roberts and Kenway met again off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, where they infiltrated a Portuguese camp to steal First Civilization [[blood vials]] that had been imbued with the blood of both pirates and Templars alike. After completing the heist, Kenway killed [[Benjamin Hornigold]] to ensure the pirates were not followed before meeting Roberts again at [[Long Bay]], on the northern shore of [[Jamaica]]. The two went ashore with four of Roberts's crew in search of the Observatory. 

===The Observatory===
Edward cleared the jungle of the protective [[Guardians]] while Roberts and his crew followed until they reached the Observatory's door. Upon opening it with an incantation, he suddenly shot his four crewmen dead, telling Kenway he did it to save them from the insanity that was sure to follow if they entered the building, whereas he believed Edward could handle the secrets stored within. To this, the two walked inside. 

Roberts informed Kenway of his past as a Sage and his new life as a pirate, including his pirate's creed, as they made their way deeper and deeper into the Observatory. He even commented on it being in much worse condition than what it had been years ago when he had last seen it, although he still knew how to deactivate the building's security measures once inside. 

In the Observatory's antechamber, Roberts showed Kenway exactly what its purpose was, using the blood vials they had taken from the Portuguese and inserting them into a [[Crystal Skulls|Crystal Skull]] set into the centerpiece of a golden armillary sphere. Soon, the machine began to operate, projecting the vision of the individual whose blood was in the vial on a giant wall - a perfect method of spying on any individual in the world. 

Although Kenway agreed with Roberts that the Observatory would be too powerful for the Templars to have control of, Roberts had a different plan on how to stop them - by removing the skull, rendering the Observatory inoperable. He then kicked Edward over a ledge and into the water below, heading back to the beach as Kenway found his own way out, the latter becoming gravely wounded just before he passed out at Roberts' feet. The former Sage commented that it would be more profitable to give Kenway up to the British than to kill him, following which he made the sale and disappeared.

'''Israel Putnam''' (1718 – 1790) was an [[United States|American]] general in the [[Continental Army]] who fought with distinction at the [[Battle of Bunker Hill]] during the [[American Revolutionary War]]. During the battle, he was approached by the [[Assassin]] [[Ratonhnhake:ton]], who desired a Patriot victory as the British troops were under the command of a [[Templar]], Major [[John Pitcairn]]. To achieve this, Putnam tasked him with disabling two British frigates who were bombarding the nearby area from the harbor. Once the deed was done, Putnam rallied his troops, delivering his famous "Whites of their Eyes" speech, as Ratonhnhake:ton set out to assassinate Pitcairn. He succeeded in killing the major, but nevertheless, Putnam was outnumbered and forced to retreat, granting the British a Pyrrhic victory.

One year later, Ratonhnhake:ton was captured by the Templars and falsely accused of plotting to assassinate General [[George Washington]], a crime the Templars themselves had committed. He later escaped execution and killed the true conspirator, [[Thomas Hickey]], before he could strike Washington. When surrounded by armed guards after murdering Hickey, it was Putnam who arrived to vouch for Ratonhnhake:ton's innocence, proclaiming him a hero to the Patriot cause.

As evident in the [[Scrolls of Romulus]], the earliest known user of the number 72 as the password to the Vault was [[Marcus Junius Brutus]], circa 45 B.C. The next known person to open the Vault was [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]] in 1507, to seal the [[Ezio's Apple|Apple of Eden]] within.<ref name="brotherhood">''[[Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood]]''</ref>

Due to [[Desmond Miles]]' [[Bleeding effect|vision]] of Ezio in the [[Sanctuary]], it is known that Ezio later returned to the [[Villa Auditore]] to leave behind the clues to the password that would allow the modern-day Assassins to access the Vault, and obtain the Apple.<ref name="brotherhood"/>

Ezio left the clue on the Sanctuary staircase, just behind the bookcase in [[Mario Auditore|Mario]]'s study. It consisted of an etching of an equilateral triangle with nine other equilaterals within it – the same marking found on the door of the Colosseum Vault – and the numbers 1419, 1420 and 1421, which were only visible to those who possessed the gift of [[Eagle Vision]].<ref name="brotherhood"/>

When the group of Assassins first arrived at [[Monteriggioni]], and gained access to the Sanctuary, Desmond noticed and read out the numbers written into the wall. [[Shaun Hastings]] posited them to indicate years, though he could not think of their significance to each other.<ref name="brotherhood"/>

After discovering the location of the Apple through the use of the [[Animus]], the Assassins pondered on how to access the Vault under the [[Colosseo]]. [[Rebecca Crane]] discovered that the door required a password, but a power failure cut short their attempts to discover it.<ref name="brotherhood"/>

As the Assassins waited in the dark and contemplated their next move, Desmond remembered the markings, and pointed them out. Shaun finally discovered the significance of the numbers and explained them to the rest of the team; pointing out the 72 names of God found in Exodus chapter 14, verses 19 through 21.<ref name="brotherhood"/>

Having obtained the password, the Assassins left the Sanctuary, and headed for the Colosseo. As Desmond made his way through the ruins of the Colosseum and the path of the [[Lair of Romulus]] underneath, [[Lucy Stillman]] realized that the current date, October 10th, was exactly 72 days away from the [[Abstergo Industries]] satellite launch in December 21.<ref name="brotherhood"/>

Though she wondered aloud if this was more than a coincidence, Desmond dismissed her unease, stating that; ''"Someone probably wanted to make sure we get the password right."''<ref name="brotherhood"/>

The team eventually arrived at [[Colosseum Vault|Juno's Temple]], where the door to the Vault was located. After briefly wondering if the door would understand English, Desmond spoke "72" aloud, thus opening the Vault and allowing the Assassins to enter.<ref name="brotherhood"/>

As Desmond activated the Apple, Juno told him that Desmond was born on the "72nd day".

Similar to its [[Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood|predecessor]], ''[[Assassin's Creed: Revelations]]'' features a multiplayer mode, which features a variety of multiplayer personas for the player to choose between and the option to customize their appearance and weapons. Like ''Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood'', many multiplayer characters will be featured in the main storyline.

However, multiplayer characters play a bigger part than in ''Brotherhood'', and in some cases, characters may actually need to be fought, found, or assassinated in the single-player game in order to unlock them for use in multiplayer.

*[[Guardian]] - An estranged cousin of a distant Sultan, he calls himself the "Guardian of Truth", following the [[Templar]]s' ideology. He wields a spear and twin curved daggers.
*[[Vanguard]] - A Cossack who was manipulated by the Templars with promises of wealth and power into joining them in defeating the Ottomans. She uses a long-handled hatchet.
*[[Sentinel]] - An ex-[[Assassins|Assassin]] that joined the Templars after the former made peace with the [[Ottoman Empire|Ottomans]]. He wields a katara.
*[[Bombardier]] - A member of an anti-Ottoman rebel group (Qizilbash) that had close ties to the Templars, while he portrayed himself as a member of the Ottoman artillery corps. His weapon is a mace.
*[[Deacon]] - A member of the Eastern Orthodox Faith, who, after being humiliated by the Patriarch of [[Constantinople]], renounced his beliefs and used his position to erode the church from within, by the order of the Templars. He uses a saif.
