Portrait of a Lady was a virtual representation of one of Ezio Auditore's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus.

Description
Ezio Auditore travelled back to Sofia's bookshop. He handed her the book he found, and she informed Ezio that she was closing in on two more locations.

Dialogue
*Sofia: Salute. (Hello.) I'm closing in on two more books - one near Topkapı and the other in the Bayezid district.
*Ezio: Bayezid first. Topkapı will be a dead end.
*Sofia: Ah, si. (yes.)
Ezio revealed the book.
*Ezio: What do you make of this?
*Sofia: Oh Ezio, è incredibile! (This is incredible!) Early coptic bindings, still in good shape. Amazing. This must be a 3rd centure transcription of the original.
*Ezio: Sofia, what happened here?
*Sofia: Oh, that happens once or twice a year. People break in, thinking they will find money. I do not keep much here, but this time they made off with a portrait of some value. It is a shame.
*Ezio: You keep working. I will find your painting.
*Sofia: Ezio, the thief could be anywhere by now.
*Ezio: If the thief came for money, but took a painting, he should be close by, eager to get rid of it.
*Sofia: Well, if you happen to find it within the next few hours, meet me by the aqueduct. I will be running errands.
Ezio found the thief.
*Ezio: Where is it, ladro (thief)? Confess!
*Thief: I have done nothing! You cannot prove a damn thing!
*Ezio: I do no need to. I will just keep hitting you until you talk.
*Thief: I found that painting, I mean, someone gave it to me.
*Ezio: Get your story straight before you lie to my face.
*Thief: God help me!
*Ezio: He has much better things to do than answer your prayers.
Ezio beat up the thief.

*Ezio: I do not care how you got the painting. Just tell me where it is.
*Thief: I sold it to a merchant in the Bazaar. How else will I feed myself?
*Ezio: Next time, find a nicer way to be an canaglia (asshole).
Ezio made his way to the merchant.
*Merchant: I have a painting for sale, if you are curious. A luminous portrait. You see how lifelike she looks. Her beauty shines through!
Ezio recovered the painting and took it back to Sofia.
*Sofia: It is a good likeness, don't you think?
*Ezio: I prefer the original.

*Sofia: Buffone. (You jester.) This was a gift from my father for my twenty-eight birthday. I had to sit for messer (Mister) Albrecht Durer for a full week. Can you imagine? Me sitting still for seven days? Doing nothing?
*Ezio: I cannot.
*Sofia: Una tortura! (Torture!)<br />So, I found you another book location. And it is not far from here actually.
*Ezio: Grazie. (Thank you.)
*Sofia: Ezio, what is this all about? You are not a scholar, that much is clear. Do you work for the church?
*Ezio: Not the church, no. But I am a teacher... of a kind. I will explain one day, Sofia. When I can.

Outcome
Ezio retrieved the painting for Sofia and another book location was revealed to him.

Trivia
*To achieve full Synchronization, Ezio must recover the painting without the merchant spotting him.
*The picture you have to retrieve is an actual painting by Albrecht Durer; Portrait of a Young Venetian Woman. It's unknown who the original sitter for the portrait actually was.
|period = Renaissance}}

Carlotta Moro was the ex-wife of Dante Moro and widow of Doge Marco Barbarigo.

History
At some point in her life, Carlotta married Dante Moro, son of Cristoforo Moro, Doge of Venice, and Captain of the Venetian Guard. Over time, Marco Barbarigo, a noble and future Doge of Venice took interest in Carlotta, and desired her for himself.

Eventually, Marco ordered some henchmen to kill Dante, so that he could marry Carlotta in his place. Ultimately, Dante survived, but he was left severely brain-damaged, becoming like a child, which was something Marco quickly took advantage of. He coerced Dante into signing a contract that annulled his and Carlotta's marriage, with her being present. Marco then went on to marry Carlotta and hire Dante as his bodyguard, since Dante lost his position as Captain of the Venetian Guard. Carlotta remained married to Marco after he became Doge of Venice in 1485.

Eventually, on February 22, 1486, Marco was assassinated by Ezio Auditore da Firenze, much to Carlotta's happiness. After Dante was rehired as a bodyguard by Marco's cousin, Silvio, Carlotta wrote her ex-husband a letter showing that her love for him had never diminished, and in it expressed a strong desire to re-marry him and to restore his mental state. Dante received the letter, and kept it with him, though there was, however, no evidence that the words had any effect on him.

However, later in the same year Ezio also assassinated Silvio, and Dante, being Silvio's bodyguard, was a consequential casualty of Silvio's assassination. Carlotta's letter fell into Ezio's hands, and since it's contents were recorded in Ezio's memory, it is clear that he read it; but what he did with it after is unknown.

Letter (1486)
My love,

I wonder if ever the day will come when these words might make sense to you once more. I am sorry for what I've done - for what you and I have both become. Though we could not be together, just knowing you were near was enough. And now, with Marco dead, I may yet find a way for us to be joined again.

But do you even remember me? Or were the wounds too grave? Do my words stir- if not your memory, then your heart? It doesn't matter what they say- I know you're still in there, somewhere.

I will find a way, my love. To remind you. To restore you...

Love always,

Carlotta

Trivia
*In Assassin's Creed: Renaissance, Carlotta's name is changed to Gloria.
*Also in the novel, Dante tells Ezio about the Templars' plans, as he does in the game, but adds that he hoped doing so would "redeem [his] soul". This could mean that Dante had remembered, in some measure, what had happened to him and Carlotta/Gloria.
*In the novel, Ezio reads the letter and decides to ask Teodora if she knows anything about Dante's history and if she can send the letter back to Carlotta/Gloria with the news of Dante's passing.

The Thief (real name: Faustina Collari) was an unlockable Animi Avatar used by Abstergo Industries to train the recruits in their Animi Training Program. The Thief was available after a recruit had reached level 25, and her weapon was a scissor blade.

Unique Moves
The Thief had the following unique moves:

(Low Profile, Back)

The Thief walks up behind her target and drops her weapon next to their foot, before reaching down to retrieve it. With the sound of her scissor blade alerting her victim as it hits the floor, she quickly stands up as they turn around, using the momentum to stab them in the side of the head with her scissor blade.

(Low Profile, Front)

The Thief approaches her target from the front and makes a deadly blow to her target's heart. Getting her blade stuck in their torso, she wiggles the blade from side to side and yanks her weapon out her victim's chest, before pushing them away and stashing her scissor blade up her sleeve.

(High Profile, Back)

The Thief runs up to her target from behind and jumps onto their back. As she holds onto them while they stagger forward, giving herself a piggyback ride, she stabs her victim in their chest twice. She then hops off their body as it falls to the ground and conceals her weapon.

(High Profile, Front)

The Thief engages her target by pushing them forward, causing them to stagger back slightly. As they attempt to walk forward and retaliate, the Thief wins the scuffle by stabbing her victim in the eye with her scissor blade, subsequently piercing their brain and sending them slumping to the floor.

(Bench Kill)

The Thief approaches her seated target and purposely drops her weapon next to her victim's foot, pretending like it was a mistake, so that she can crouch down slightly, in order to get a better look and identify them. Confirming her suspicions, the Thief grabs her scissor blade from the floor and before her victim can react, she plunges her weapon in the side of their head, killing them instantly. With her target freshly dispatched, she pulls their dead body from their seat and throws them to the floor.

(Aerial Kill)

The Thief leaps from a rooftop, scissor blade in hand, before landing on her target. She then stabs downwards into her victim's neck, piercing the jugular and causing them to bleed to death on the ground, while she stands and hides her scissor blade up her sleeve.

Customization
The Thief's outfit and gear could be customized in several ways:

Colors:
* Basic: Dark Blue
* Extra 1: Gray
* Extra 2: Brown
* Extra 3: Faded Red
Gear:
* Advanced: Added poofed upper sleeves.
* Superior: Extended blouse, added knee-high boots, added white stripe design to leggings. Blouse loses ragged appearance.
* Elite: Added miniature cape and a round brim hat.

Trivia
* Faustina's Elite Gear is a polar opposite of the rags in her Basic Gear. Her Elite Gear is neat and exquisite, whilst her Basic Gear is ragged and homely. Each of her different gears shifts steadily from rags to riches throughout the four options.
* Faustina is the only multiplayer character to not appear in either the Brotherhood single player, or Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy.
