The Blacksmith (real name Augustine Oberlin) is an unlockable multiplayer character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. He uses a large hammer as his primary weapon. He was a Swiss mercenary and appears in the story mode of Brotherhood as a Templar Agent. To unlock the Blacksmith, the player has to reach level 15.

Fiora Cavazza was actually shocked by him, as he gave the impression of a brute while being a very cultured man.

In 1503 Ezio Auditore saw a woman sitting on a bench in town beaten and bruised, and he asked the woman who had done this to her. She replied that her husband changed as the Borgia gave him what he wanted and instead of him posting signs for the shops, he claimed them in the name of the Borgia and hurt any who stood in his way. Ezio tore down the Borgia posters one by one until Augustine heard of this. Enraged, he found Ezio and attacked with brute force, aided by his hammer, but instead fell by the blade of the Assassin, putting his control over the neighborhood shops to an end.
*In Shaun's database, it states that the Blacksmith is a Swiss mercenary.
*The Blacksmith never receives an armguard or sleeve of somekind on his left arm to attach a hidden gun, so if the hidden gun is equipped on him, it will appear as if it is internally attached to his skin.

The Papal Guard were elite soldiers commanded by the Papacy to serve and protect the pontiff during his tenure. By 1503, the Papal Guard protected Pope Alexander VI, and were led by the Pope's son and Papal Commander, Cesare Borgia. The sole purpose of the Papal guards is to protect the Pope and his family with their lives.

The Papal guards are the most versatile and difficult enemies (excluding bosses and Borgia Captains), as they carry the best of abilities held by all other guard archetypes and can easily deflect and counter many of Ezio Auditore's attacks. They can wield wheel-lock firearms (most likely pistols) in one hand, and a sword in the other, making them deadly opponents in both short and long range. Other than swords, they can also be equipped with a variety of long weapons, short weapons, and heavy weapons, however those versions are very difficult to find in the game.

Skills
*Papal guards are extremely fast and difficult to escape from, as they possess the speed of Agiles, and will always be able to catch up to Ezio in a chase.

*Papal guards can dodge Ezio's attacks, also behaving similar to an Agile.

*When confronted with a group of Papal guards it is common for them to grab Ezio from behind or directly from the front. This can be considered as a team work strategy.

*Papal guards often in groups, rarely when encountered alone, throw sand in Ezio's face, a skill that is common for Seekers to use in close range combat.

*Although not considered a skill, Papal guards cause significantly more damage in close range than other guard archetypes, aside from Brutes.

*Papal guards are the only guards in the whole game that hold a wheel-lock firearm in one hand, while equipped with a melee weapon in the other, being able to shoot at Ezio when attempting to escape or at close range. Another strategy can be considered involving the firearms when two or one Papal guards will attack Ezio at close range while at least one will repeatedly shoot him from a distance.

Trivia
*The Papal guards were the precursor to the Swiss Guard, who have protected the pontiff since 1548.
*An early Papal guard design is seen in the game's teaser trailer and Assassin's Creed: Ascendance. While the design for the guards themselves was changed before the game's release, Fabio Orsini wears the same armor as seen in the original concept, albeit without a helmet.
*The Papal guards may be less skilled than Ezio, however they are considerably stronger and have a larger build; with all of them being at least a head taller than Ezio.
*Depending on the weapon that they are armed with, Papal guards are able to fight as a Brute, Agile or Seeker (the Brute being the most common).
*Although Papal guards are one of the toughest opponents in the game they aren't commonly found in Rome, and will appear more often in storyline missions. However, a group of four Papal guards are always stationed right outside the Castel Sant'Angelo in the Vaticano district, and will also attack Ezio on sight.
*By Cesare Borgia's arrest in December 1503, the Borgia had lost all their power in Rome. However, when Cesare was arrested by Fabio Orsini and the Papal troops, they still carried the emblem of the Borgia.
*During 1506 in the Da Vinci Disappearance DLC, when Ezio infiltrates Belriguardo Castle, Papal Guards bearing the Borgia emblem chase after him during the chase sequence, even though Ezio is in Ferrara and the Borgia are no longer in power.
*Smoke bombs have no effect on a Papal guard while engaged in combat, however, the bombs function as normal if the guard is taken by surprise.
*Cesare Borgia himself fights much like a Papal guard, and is able to dual-wield a pistol and sword as they do.
*In the War Plans missions, the templars overseeing the War Machines construction are always papal guards.
*There is a Assassination Contract called "Graduation". In this contract, Ezio must kill 3 Papal Guards in the Castel Sant'Angelo (all of them using heavy weapons).
*During the infiltrating of the French headquarters in Rome, Ezio will have to face some Papal Guards, however, the Borgia has already left the battle by the this time, so it's unknown why they are there. It is more than possible that they were on loan as a sign of comradere between Cesare and The Baron de Valois. This is supported by the fact that the Papal Guards are much better fighters than any of the French soldiers.
*The Papal Guards are the only guards that do NOT appear during the last memory.

The Doctor (real name: Malfatto, ? - 1502/1503) is a multiplayer character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, who uses a syringe as his primary weapon.

His outfit highly resembles the ones worn by doctors during the plague, and appears black in the dark. His face is concealed by a mask, therefore making his true identity unknown. His outfit is different from what the doctors wear in Assassin's Creed II, most noticeably due to the slightly shorter beak of his mask.

He makes an appearance in the single player mode of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood in a main storyline mission, as opposed to several other multiplayer characters, who appear in Templar Agent side missions.

He is also featured in Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, where it is revealed that he is in the employ of Cesare Borgia, and is known as a serial killer that targets courtesans. Despite being on his side at the time, Fiora Cavazza feared him and called him a "monster." After their first meeting wherein Fiora delivered a sealed document from Cesare, Malfatto entered Fiora's home while she was sleeping and injected her with his syringe, either drugging her or attempting to poison her. However, she was able to defend herself, cutting him badly with her own weapon.

At one point in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Ezio Auditore comes across a courtesan crying over a fellow courtesan's dead body. She told him Malfatto had murdered her. Ezio reassured the courtesan that he would find Malfatto, and after a short time he located the doctor prowling in the district. Ezio signaled his Assassin Recruits to kill Malfatto, and they succeeded shortly after.thumb|300px|right|Serial Offender
Database Entry
Date of Birth: Unknown.

Profession: Doctor

Abstergo's database says: "Ravaging the poor districts of Rome, Malfatto preys on those unfortunate enough to be caught unaware."

The only data I could find outside of that was a report of a masked doctor in 1502 seen lurking outside the Rosa in Fiore. This guy seems like really bad news, and I've read a lot of bad news lately.

Unique Moves
Lethal Injection (Low Profile)
: The Doctor attacks his target from behind and swiftly thrusts his syringe into the target's shoulder, injecting poison into their system. Before the victim can realize what has happened, they collapse to the ground and die silently. The Doctor can also perform a similar move from the front of the victim, where he thrusts the syringe into the victim's neck.

The Eye Stab (High Profile)
: The Doctor charges at his target, injecting the syringe through their eye and into the brain, causing instant death.

Mass Poisoning (Low Profile)
: The Doctor pushes his syringe up through the victim's back, piercing the heart and ribcage. The tip is visible out of the target's sternum as their heart fails and the Doctor pushes them gently to the floor. (This is very similar to a way Ezio assassinates guards in the singleplayer story mode)
Trivia
*Malfatto is an Italian surname that may derive from the Italian word malfattore or "someone who does evil deeds."
*When killed by Ezio or an apprentice (for full synchronization), the white room death scene shows Ezio saying the traditional words, but instead of closing Malfattos eyes, he looks quizzically at the mask and pulls his hand away. This is one of the few times Ezio has ever altered his usual procedeure.
