Throwing knives (first available at Rank 4) are knives that Altaïr can throw at his enemies, taking them out from a distance. The knives seem to be one of the most powerful weapons (after the hidden blade) as unless the enemy is a Templar or a boss character, the knives generally kill with one hit. When Altaïr runs out of knives, he can get more by either pickpocketing them from thugs (earns 5 knives), by killing thugs in a fistfight (only 1 knife, zero if a blade is used), or by returning to either an Assassins Bureau or Masyaf (maximizes knife count).

The maximum amount of knives Altaïr can hold increases at certain ranks. After first becoming available at rank 4, at which point the knife capacity is 5, Altaïr gets extra Knife Belts at ranks 7 and 10, increasing the capacity to 10 and 15 (respectively).
Throwing knives returned in Assassin's Creed 2. The damage for each knife has been scaled down to balance gameplay due to the introduction of the Hidden Gun.

*Throwing Knives cost 50 florins each
*Extra sheathes for throwing knives can be purchased at tailor shops. Up to 20 knives can be carried through upgrades. An additional 5 slots can be purchased through Uplay.
*The special attack of the throwing knife is to throw three at once, effectively dispatching three enemies.
The Hidden Gun is one of the upgrades invented by Altaïr and made by Leonardo da Vinci on the wrist device (Hidden Blade) of Ezio in Assassin's Creed II.

Use
The hidden gun is used for long ranged kills, as well as assassinating your targets (whereas in the first game, only the hidden blade could be used for assassinating your targets). It isn't stealthy, using it near a group of guards will likely attract attention, however it is a one shot kill. The downside, it takes a good deal of time to aim (it can be used without aiming, but you will most likely miss even at close range); the aiming consists of four lines converging together and accuracy depends on how long you spend aiming. Aiming the gun around guards will make them suspicious.

The special attack of the hidden gun does nothing noticeable, and does nothing at all against large groups of guards. Against one or two guards,Aiming the gun for more than two seconds after it is locked will cause them to lose morale and flee. This does not work against Brutes.

The Hidden Gun does not work as "one shot kills" when battling against Rodrigo Borgia when he is pope.

The Gun, along with the Throwing Knives, are disabled while in the Assassin's Tombs, this may be to stop the player shooting any guards that the must chase, therefore skipping large sections of narrative.

The Short Blade (first available at Rank 3) is a short, curved blade that is a smaller, more agile weapon than the longsword. The Animus, in its hints and tips given to the player, recommends the Short Blade for killing off large numbers of enemies.

Like the Longsword, Altaïr's Short Blade increases in quality and power with his rank.

While the Short Blade is selected, the player can also use throwing knives by holding down the modifier key and pressing the weapon hand key ( on Playstation 3, X on Xbox 360, Left Mouse Button for PC default layout).
Ezio can carry a short blade in addition to his longsword. Various short blades can be purchased at blacksmith shops with unique speed, damage and deflection properties. Unlike Altaïr, he won't carry it on his back but next to his longsword. The special attack of most short blades can only be preformed from behind, and takes the form of Slitting their neck,or stabbking them in the shoulder.

In Assassin's Creed the fists are the weakest form of fighting available to the player. Guards will not intervene with a fistfight, unless the player is attacking a guard. However, if the player draws a weapon they will attack.

Altaïr's fists are also the only weapon he can use to interrogate a target without killing or causing them to run, even though the target is always assassinated anyway once Altaïr has his information. When attempting to pickpocket a thug for throwing knives, if he notices Altaïr stealing from him, he may start a fist fight. You can choose to punch back, or you can draw one of your swords and he will immediately flee. The latter will attract the attention of nearby guards if you don't put it away immediately. As weak as fists are they are your only weapon as a novice but don't get used to them because you are only a novice for one mission.

In Assassin's Creed II, the main character Ezio is more skilled in a fistfight. Instead of the wayward haymaker of his ancestor,he can preform combos,as well as being able to counter other fistfighters. He may also Disarm those with weapons and use them against opponents. The special attack while unarmed is to lean down and sweep some sand into the opponent's eyes, opening the weaker enemies to an instant kill.

Fists also becomes a more viable weapon when the Cestus,a hard steel handguard that strengthens the attack of the fists, becomes avaliable for purchase.
The Poison Blade is a hidden blade modification. Leonardo da Vinci hollows out the player's hidden blade, without compromising structural integrity, and allows for poison to be added to the blade. Once a target has been poisoned,They being to act strangely, completely ignoring all around them.If they have a weapon, they will swing it wildly, attacking all around them for a few moments before dying. Poison is bought from Apothecaries for 250 florins per vial.
