The Hideout is one of two modern-day locations seen in Assassin's Creed II. It serves as a base for the modern Assassins which includes Lucy Stillman, Shaun Hastings, Rebecca Crane, and Desmond Miles.

The building itself appears to be in Italy, as evidenced by signs written in Italian, and the architecture outside. The loft area of the hideout contains three doors that cannot be opened throughout the whole game, one of which is a reinforced metal door. Given that there is only one bed visible in the rest of the building, it is likely that at least one of the hidden rooms is for accommodation. Various equipment in the Hideout is branded with the Abstergo logo, perhaps indicating that it was stolen.

The Animus room contains the Animus 2.0. Lucy is usually found sitting at her desk with her computer. Her role is keeping track of the Assassin parties outside of the "hideout", fighting the Templars. Shaun acts a researcher, and he writes for the Animus' database as well as provide tactial support of other Assassins out in the field. Rebecca works next to the Animus, keeping record of its performance. Maintaining and fixing the machine is her responsibility. She also adds notes to the database using the pseudonym "Rebecca84", sometimes noting that there is a hidden "Glyph" on a nearby building. During the interludes when Desmond steps out of the Animus, he can interact with these characters to learn more about them and the story. Unfortunately, there is nothing else to do in these segments.

The ground floor of the building contains a large warehouse with piles of boxes, which later serve as a makeshift climbing tutorial for Desmond. It is possible that the Assassins bought the building after it had already been built as a warehouse. This area also contains the building's security systems.

Trivia
*When first entering the temporary base of the assassins, while using Eagle Vision, the road blockers on either side of the garrage door are seen in blue, as if they were allies.
*The buildings seen on the outside seem to resemble those of Florence. This could be why you don't see the outside when the assassins are escaping. Also in the parking area of the hideout, there are words in italian for private parking and some others.
*The keyboards used by Lucy and the other assassins are unusual in that they seem to "mirror" standard keyboards, with number pads on the left side and the main enter key also being on the left side. Presumably the rest of the keyboard is also reversed in a similar fashion.

When Warren Vidic and Lucy Stillman leave the building at the end of Assassin's Creed, Desmond Miles is able to use his Eagle Vision, much like Altair in the past. There are messages scribed all over the floor and walls of his room and the Animus Room. Subject 16, the patient before Desmond, wrote these with his own blood to warn Desmond of what is happening.

Messages
*The Eye of Providence: Also called 'The all-seeing eye' or 'Eye of the World'. It's on the ground in front of the door Lucy and Dr. Vidic always leave. The Eye of Horus, can also be found on the far right side of the room.

**Explanation: The Eye of Providence is always related to the "New World Order" conspiracy. Abstergo Industries is planning on instituting a "New World Order", which is why they are extracting information from Desmond Miles. They want to use the Piece of Eden to control the world.

*Eden's Pyramid: Found before the door which Dr. Vidic always exits from.
**Explanation:Possibly a reference to the vault in Assassin's Creed 2, which Minerva talks about being others, that her kind built. The Apple above the pyramid, which seems to contain eyes, may also reference the power and control that a Piece of Eden has over a human.

*12212012: This is the barcode found before the pyramid of letters.
**Explanation: 12/21/2012 is known in different prophecies, such as in the Mayan calendar, for the day the world ends. This is three months after the events of Assassin's Creed and is the date of the release of the modern Templar Satellite.

*Barcode: This is 13:16-18, a reference to the bible, specifically the book of Revelation. This piece in the bible reads: "He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no-one could buy or sell unless he had the mark which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom, if anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person and it's number is 666."
**Explanation: The number 666 is widely known as the "Number of the Beast", and the beast is the Devil as depicted in the Bible.

*Pentagram: Found to the right of Desmond, when laying down on the Animus. "A reversed pentagram, with two points projecting upwards, is a symbol of evil and attracts sinister forces because it overturns the proper order of things and demonstrates the triumph of matter over spirit. It is the goat of lust attacking the heavens with its horns, a sign execrated by initiates." Linked to the 666 theory.

*Pyramid: The Pyramid of letters reads, written from bottom to top, from right to left: "They drained my soul and made it theirs. I drain my body to show you where I saw it". Found at the foot side of the Animus..
**Explanation: "They drained my soul"- this is what the Animus is used for. They [the Templars], took the information and used it. "I drain my body" - Subject 16 used his blood to write all of these messages.

*Three Intertwining Circles: Symbol of the Holy Trinity. Found at the Animus at the side where you lay your head.
**Explanation: Yet another reference to the bible. It relates back to the "New World Order" conspiracy.

*Square: The Square of Letters is also written from bottom to top, right to left: "Artifacts sent to the skies to control all nations, to make us obey a hidden crusade. Do not help them"<!--- do not correct the 'sent', it isn't a grammar mistake, but literally what the game says--->
**Explanation: "Artifacts sent to the skies" - The Piece of Eden is an artifact. The Templars sent it in a Satellite to control the world.

*Nazca Lines: The famous Nazca lines are drawn by subject 16. They can be found near some computers on a the left platform.
**Explanation: These may point out the location of another Piece of Eden, or maybe a Crystal Skull, which are said to possess miraculous powers.

*Yonaguni: Yonaguni is actually one word and it is the westernmost island of japan, that would explain the Japanese pictures near it. In the next game, you may be a Japanese assassin on the island Yonaguni.

*I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End: This is referenced to in Desmond's room.
**Explanation: This is a well-known phrase from the bible. It means that God is all-powerful. This yet again links back to the "New World Order" conspiracy.

*In Desmond's room there are three more types of writing: Hebrew, Arabic and Chinese.
**Explanation: Hebrew-העולם הבא: The writing in Hebrew means "The World to Come"
**Explanation: Arabic- الزلزال: The writing in Arabic means "The Earthquake" which is the 99th Sura of the Qu'ran and tells of Judgement Day and one of the signs of the end of the world.
**Explanation: Asian Texts-Several quotes relating to the game and its key protagonists.
***"You reap what you sow."
***"One who wants to read into his future simply needs to write his own past."
***"A man without far sight, must have near worries."
***"Hearing is better than not hearing, observing is better than hearing, knowing is better than observing, and doing is better than knowing."
***"As a human being, if you want to know the spiritual realm of Buddha, you have to observe, you have to know that everything you see in the world comes from your own mind."

Ezio is a young Florentine nobleman who lives in Florence during the 15th century. Unlike Altaïr, he is a seducer, and he easily blends with any social classes. He has an affluent lifestyle and many friends until a certain day. He and his family are betrayed, victims of a conspiracy that takes his father's and brother's life.

From that day, Ezio is considered as a criminal and a traitor, he has to protect his mother and his sister. He becomes an assassin to accomplish his vengeance against the ones responsible for the tragedy that befell on him and his family (it is possible that those men are Templars). Ezio is helped not only by his uncle Mario, but also Leonardo da Vinci

who becomes his best friend and his personal engineer, as well as Niccolò Machiavelli and other Italian Renaissance's famous figures.

Ezio will travel a cross Italy to various locations like Venice, Tuscany and Rome. We will live a large period of Ezio's life through the game, from his youth to when he becomes an old Master Assassin. In Assassin's Creed II, we will be playing approximately 27 years of his life from 1476 to 1503.

Equipment
It has been announced that Ezio will be able to use a variety of weapons including two hidden blades and because of this he can eliminate two enemies simultaneously. He can also steal (and use) several enemy weapons such as an axe, a hammer, a mace, a spear, two different sword types(1 handed and 2 handed), and a halberd. Ezio will be able to use Da Vinci's flying machine in some parts of the game, gaining altitude from fires set throughout the city by his allies. In addition to the hidden blades, Ezio will have many upgrades by Da Vinci on his wrist device like a firearm of some sort (most likely an early wheel lock firearm) concealed near his left hidden blade, or a poison needle. Ezio is said to possess the ability to use Eagle Vision while moving . Armors can be bought to upgrade his protection and his clothes' colors are customizable.

Trivia
* The Italian name 'Ezio' derives from the Greek word 'Aetos', which means "Eagle", similar to Altaïr whose name means "The Flying Eagle".
* Unlike Altaïr (who had his ring finger removed to make way for the Hidden Blade), Ezio has all ten fingers (as evidenced by the fact he wears a ring-either a signet or wedding ring- marked with the Assassin's symbol). This may be made possible by a newer Hidden Blade (created by da Vinci), placed further from the palm.
* Ezio uses a wheel lock firearm, a type of weapon that Europe didn't start developing until the very late 1400's and early 1500's, making this weapon most likely one of the very first firearms to appear in Europe, thus many people may not know what the weapon is in game. The earliest firearms were single shot and took time to reload, so will most likely be only used as a last resort weapon. Also note that Da Vinci created some of the first modern wheel lock pistols, so this could be a shortened version of one.
* Ezio's face in Assassin's Creed II seems to be a mixture of Desmond's one (Francisco Randez) and Devon Bostick's from Lineage.
