The lead scientist in the research of Altair. He is shown to be somewhat of a ruthless man. He can also be seen as fair, as he "allows" Desmond access to his emails when Desmond pickpockets him. He did not admonish Desmond even after his cryptic reply to Desmond's questions: "I think you know enough already." Desmond demands an explanation and Vidic offers "You know what I mean." This leads to the insinuation that he knows Desmond is viewing his emails, but does not retaliate harshly because he believes you have the right to know what is going on, to some extent at least. Initially, he attempts to push Desmond beyond his limits by keeping him in the Animus, only to be accosted by Lucy. Relenting slightly after Lucy's initial concerns, he is further pacified after Desmond agrees to not resist their work. He remains pushy throughout the game, chastising Desmond for wasting time at the Animus memory selection screen for delays or for walking around the room in the middle of a memory segment.

Emails accessible after the completion of a memory segment further show him to be impatient, perhaps to the point of being sloppy. His emails are written without capitalization, and he doesn't bother signing his emails. He wonders aloud to Lucy why she bothers signing hers, since it indicates the sender quite clearly in the header. On at least one occasion he loses his access badge, which Lucy finds and returns for him. He is dismissive of her calls for him to be more careful with it, replying that she should be more focused on the Animus and their work with Desmond.

Not much is known about Lucy's at the start of the game, although it can be assumed that she is not as cold hearted a person as Dr. Vidic is. She frequently stops Desmond from using the Animus for prolonged periods of time, because she says it can strain the body severely if used for too long. She is also generally warmer in personality than Dr. Vidic and is generally nicer to Desmond, allowing him a bit more freedom than Dr. Vidic Does, even to the point of allowing him to use her computer once.

spoiler

Throughout the game, Desmond has many chances to speak to Lucy and to get to know her better. These moments occur at the end of each memory segment, after Dr. Vidic leaves the lab. As Desmond talks to Lucy, she starts to tell him a bit about her past. It is revealed that during her college career she was ostracized for her scientific beliefs and her theories. After college she could not find work at any scientific organization. She became so desperate that she was ready to give up science altogether. Then she received a call from Dr. Vidic, who told her he agreed with her theories and offered her the chance to work for Abstergo and to prover her theories to be true. It is unclear as to exactly what these theories are, but it is inferred that it has something to do with Genetic Memory and with the work being done on the Animus project. It is also unclear as to exactly how large a role Lucy had in either the creation or the development of the Animus machine.

Lucy also reveals to Desmond that he is not the only captive Abstergo is holding. She too is being detained by the company. She then tells him a story about how a while back her death was ordered by the company, but before her assailants could finish the deed, they were ordered to stop by Dr. Warren Vidic. She claims that he saved her life that day, and she tells Desmond not to judge him so harshly, as he is under a lot of pressure.

Whether this story is true or not is unknown. It is possible Lucy is feeding Desmond false information in an attempt to get him to trust her, but it could also very well be taken at face value. Throughout the game you can gain access to Lucy's computer and read her emails. From the emails, you definitely get the idea that she is telling the truth, as she is obviously concerned for her own safety and is trying to find out more information about a previous Abstergo employee who died a while back. This employee is said to have "committed suicide" but the documents relating to the death are being held as classified and are not being released. How Desmond came upon the codes to Lucy's emails remains a mystery, however, it can be speculated that she planted them to give him a better idea of what was going on with Abstergo, in which case she was invaluable.

At the end of the game when you can see the writing on the floor you can go to the computer where Lucy is usually working and access it. If you look at her deleted emails there is a conversation in which Lucy tells another person that she has been delaying the doctor from finding the artifacts and asking for the other person to send a rescue. The rescue may be the people you hear trying to get to you towards the end of the game. This also probably means Lucy is an assassin, which is also shown by her left hand having a missing ring finger and is spying on Abstergo Industries.
