'''Emmett Scott''' (1600's – 1723) was a tea [[Merchants|merchant]] in [[Bristol]], the father to [[Caroline Scott-Kenway|Caroline Scott]], and a member of the [[Templars|Templar Order]]. Through his daughter's marriage, he was the father-in-law of the [[Piracy|pirate]] [[Edward Kenway]] and grandfather of [[Jennifer Scott]] and Haythem kenway and great grandfather of Ratonhnhake; ton.

Emmett's association to the Templars was made known to Edward Kenway by the family servant [[Rose]], upon Edward's return to Bristol from the [[Caribbean|West Indies]]. It was from Rose that Kenway also learned that Emmett had caught smallpox, survived and transferred the disease to his wife and Caroline, and arrogantly refused his daughter medicine, which later caused Caroline's death.

These two factors led Kenway to plan Emmett's assassination, as a "tying up of loose ends", following which Edward devoted his efforts to the [[Assassins]] as a formal member, after accepting a pardon and offer of property from [[Robert Walpole]].

Taking Rose hostage in one of his warehouses, Emmett and his henchman [[Wilson]] threatened Kenway to surrender his weapons or else they would kill her. Emmett also defended his actions of negligence which led to Caroline's passing. However, he was shot in the head with one of Edward's pistols, killing him instantly.
