Assassin's Creed II has some few Easter Eggs, while the first Assassin's Creed had only one ( Transformers, the face of Optimus Prime in truck mode on walls) while many other games had Easter Eggs related to Assassin's Creed such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto IV and the 2008 version of Prince of Persia.

Mario
300px|left
At the beginning of the third sequence, Ezio's Uncle says "It's-a-me! Mario!" which is a reference to Super Mario Bros. To further support this is Mario Auditore's Italian nationality, like Mario of Super Mario Bros.

Another reference to Nintendo's Mario is that both Mario's wear red, while the Mario's mercenaries wear green, much like Nintendo's Mario's brother, Luigi.

Giant Octopus
A giant octopus can be found in Santa Maria Della Visitazione. The octopus appears after activating the lever that brings out the bars to swing and traverse the final chamber.

To find the giant octopus you must look down the water near the lever for a minute. Once a minute or so has passed a cutscene showing a large octopus should pass by. A second cutscene can be activated if the player activates the lever and looks down again. The cutscene shows Ezio narrowly dodging the giant octopus's tentacle, then swims away.

Altaïr's Outfit
left|300px
Altaïr's outfit from Assassin's Creed can be unlocked via Uplay by purchasing it for 30 points. It does not add/change any stat points for Ezio. It can also be worn in conjunction with any cape, allowing the player to wear the Altaïr outfit and still maintain 0% notoriety with the Medici or Venetian Capes.

The Bonfire of the Vanities
Analyzing what could have happened during the corrupted memory sequences, Shaun evokes the Bonfire of the Vanities which occurred in Florence and Rebecca says that she loves the movie of the same name by De Palma. Shaun then sarcastically suggests that it is not the appropriate moment for such comments. After downloading the Bonfire of the Vanities DLC, you may visit the Auditore home countyard area and Ezio will see a vision of his whole family.

Tools
Some NPC's tools can be used as Improper Weapons:
*Carnevale's violins
*Brooms
*Fishing Poles
*Rakes
*Pitchforks

"Reject the base and material! Seek salvation in the flames! The brush! The pen! The sculpter's clay. These are the Devil's tools! And what wretched things they birth. So today I call upon you to cast off these abominations! And consign them to the flames. That you may be cleansed. That you may be FREE! Give them up - or my guards will do it for you! When I first became a painter, I did so as a means to express my devotion to God. Here there was an opportunity to grow closer to him. For if divinity was perfection, then surely capturing it would be divine? It seemed a righteous work. A form of prayer - of worship. And if others might gaze upon my creations and see something of the Lord within - well, would they not be also brought closer to Him? And so I thought myself an altruist. A speaker. A preacher. A guide to those who had lost their faith. But in truth, I was deceived. The Devil is a crafty sort - his manipulations, many. I thought my works were windows. But in truth, they were doors. Doors that allowed his corrupting influence to enter into our world. My art did not comfort people - but poisoned them instead! Made them lustful and base and immoral when before they were not. I had been deceived! But now I have a chance to make amends. To undo the damage I have wrought. I pray that you will join me! Free yourselves of deception and corruption! Give up your blasphemous works! Ink and canvas evoke desire which in turn, births jealousy and rage. Destroy them! Suppress such emotions for they are dangerous! Dedicate yourselves wholly unto our Lord and his prophet, Savonarola!"
The Captain Guard is one of Girolamo Savonarola's 9 Lieutenants.

Speech
"Ah! Another challenger! Excellent! Savonarola warned me that some would oppose our rule. And so I devised this little trap - to ferret out those foolish enough to play at hero. It's proven to be both entertaining and effective. Incominciamo! (Let us begin!)"

Last Words
Captain: Is this truly who I was? So proud and cruel...

Ezio: No. Savonarola bewitched you.

Artist: Did he? Or was it that I tasted power and found myself intoxicated. I wish I had been stronger.

Ezio: As do I. Mi rincresce, ma non c'è altro modo. (I am truly sorry, but there is no other way.). Requiescat in pace (Rest in peace).
Final Words
Ezio Auditore: Your mind... I sense it is your own.

Preacher: Not all of us required deception to be convinced. I already believe. All I said is true.

Ezio Auditore: Nothing is true. Non è un compito facile il mio (This is not an easy thing I do)... Requiescat in pace (Rest in peace).
