Teodora Contanto, also known as Sister Teodora, (1450 - unknown) was the leader of the Venetian courtesans and a member of the Assassin Order.

She spent five years of her life in a convent, but found herself disagreeing with the beliefs of the other nuns. After leaving the convent, she founded La Rosa Della Virtù, her own brothel, which was staffed by women with a similar belief to her own.

She assisted the Assassin Ezio Auditore during his quest to assassinate Marco Barbarigo, the Templar Doge of Venice. With the help of Teodora and her girls, Ezio was able to infiltrate the Doge's carnivale party, where he assassinated his target.

She was also one of the Assassins that were present during Ezio's fight with Rodrigo Borgia, thoug hthey had come to claim the Apple of Eden. Teodora, Paola and Niccolò Machiavelli remained at the sidelines while the others joined the fight, and only revealed themselves after Rodrigo's departure.

Biography
Early life
Teodora was born in Venice to a family of jewelers that had their own shop. Teodora was apprenticed to her mother as a shop girl. Visitors to the shop noticed Teodora's beauty and charm, and in 1462, one man buying diamond earrings for his wife, Margarita, noticed the twelve year old Teodora and left wishing he had never married. Five years later in 1467, court records show that on 26th of November she was caught having an affair with a married man at the age of 17. The man's wife found out and alerted the authorities. To avoid legal action her parents sent her to a convent as punishment to live out the rest of her days in peace and prayer. Later that year, Teodora entered the Santa Maria degli Angeli convent.

Becoming a courtesan
In 1473, at the age of 23, Teodora grew tired of convent life due to her own personal beliefs. She left leaving a statement nailed to the door in which she spoke about life as a nun being "earthly" and sterile. She concluded her letter with a brief description of her own belief, "only in partnership with another can one truly enter the arms of God".

That very same year, Teodora opened La Rosa Della Virtù, The Rose of Virtue, a bordello situated in Venice's Dorsoduro District, the festival center of Venice. It was staffed solely by former nuns with similar ideals to those of Teodora. The Pope would frequently try to force the Venetian Council to shut it down, but it would remain open until 1516. Although she was no longer a part of the Catholic Church, Teodora considered herself a nun, in her own brand of faith. Additionally, Teodora was somehow introduced to and inducted into the Assassin Order.

Helping Ezio
In 1486, Teodora was introduced tp Ezio Auditore by fellow Assassin, Antonio de Magianis. Teodora guided Ezio in his objective to kill the Templar Doge Marco Barbarigo by informing him that he could win a golden mask, which would grant him access to Marco's personal carnevale party. Ezio participated in the contest to win the mask, but even though Ezio clearly won all the matches, the mask was given to Marco's bodyguard Dante Moro. Teodora and Antonio instructed Ezio to use Teodora's courtesans to distract Dante, which would allow Ezio an opportunity to steal the mask. Ezio entered the party and met with Teodora, who offered her girls to help Ezio staying out of the guards' sight, who had been informed of Ezio's presence. After Marco appeared, Ezio assassinated him and returned to La Rosa Della Virtù, where he tried to win himself a night with Teodora. She cut him short and commanded her girls to attend to him.

Acquiring the Apple of Eden
In 1488, Teodora joined the other Assassins in Venice, where they hoped to acquire the Apple of Eden from the Templar Grand Master Rodrigo Borgia. However, when they arrived, they found Ezio already fighting the Templar and his guards. Paola, Teodora and Niccolò Machiavelli remained on the sidelines as the other Assassins assisted Ezio in the fight. When the guards were killed and Rodrigo had fled, leaving the Apple behind, they revealed themselves to be Assassins, which had previously been unknown to Ezio. Ezio was then inducted in the Assassin Order, a ceremony where Teodora was also present, after which they all took a Leap of Faith from the tower.

Finding the Vault
In 1499, Ezio had acquired the remaining Codex pages, and Teodora and the other Assassins met again, this time in Monteriggioni. They hoped to locate the Vault that the prophecy spoke of. Once it had been determined that the Vault was in Rome, she agreed to "cause trouble in the city", along with the others, while Ezio infiltrated the Vatican. After this, she returned to Venice, where she remained at the head of the Courtesans.

Later life
In 1516, La Rosa Della Virtù was burned in a fire started by a disgruntled bishop who wished to lie with one of the girls for free. The Roman Catholic Church publicly cited that the fire was an act of God. Teodora's fate remained unknown, although she would have been 66 at this time.

Trivia
*The name Teodora is Italian for Theodora, the feminine for Theodore, which in Greek means "God's Gift"
*Teodora's design bears a strong resemblance to the Ridolfo Ghirlandaio painting, The Nun.
*During the mission "Having a Blast", if you kill Marco before Teodora leaves, you can get guards to go after her and kill her and you can then loot her.

Maria Auditore da Firenze (1432 - 1504), born Maria de' Mozzi, was a Florentine noblewoman during the Renaissance, and a member of the Assassin Order. She was the mother of Ezio, who eventually became the Mentor of the Italian Assassins.

Born into the noble Mozzi family, Maria liked to blend with "real citizens" when she was younger, leading to her chance meeting with Giovanni Auditore, who later became her husband.

As a member of the Auditore family, Maria continued to fraternize with the lower classes, developing a working relationship with the artist Leonardo da Vinci.

Biography
Early life
She was born in Florence in 1432 as Maria de' Mozzi into a powerful and opulent family. Her parents strongly protected her from the outside world, which she grew tired of by the age of 16.

Her parents allowed her to open up a bakery inside the family palazzo. A week later, while in the bakery, Maria met Giovanni Auditore. Wooed by Giovanni, the two developed a close relationship, and married in 1452.

Life as an Auditore
Following their marriage, Maria went to live with Giovanni in his personal home, the Palazzo Auditore. Eventually, Maria gave birth to Federico, Ezio, Claudia, and Petruccio Auditore.

Additionally, Giovanni became inducted into the Assassin Order, a secret which she helped him keep from their children. Maria herself became inducted into the Order sometime thereafter.

In 1476, Giovanni, Federico, and Petruccio were arrested by the Florentine government for the crime of treason. When she attempted to stop the guards, Maria was raped, causing her to go into shock.

The three were tried and hanged, despite Ezio's attempt to prevent their deaths. Maria, who had not spoken since the arrest, was brought to fellow Assassin Paola alongside Claudia. Maria remained there for a while, until Ezio came to bring them to the Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni.

While there, Maria remained silently sitting in prayer beside her bed for several years, not speaking until Ezio brought her a hundred feathers. Thanking Ezio for not forgetting about her, Maria presented him with a cape bearing the Auditore family crest. Afterwards, Maria slowly started regaining her temperament.

Later life in Rome
In January 1500, after Ezio returned from Rome to infiltrate the Vault, Monteriggioni was besieged by Borgia soldiers under the command of Cesare Borgia. Maria fled to the sanctuary beneath the Villa, and waited for Claudia and Ezio to join her.

From there, the three fled Monteriggioni via a secret passageway. Ezio instructed Maria and Claudia to travel to Florence, where they would be safe, while Ezio would head to Rome to take down the entire Borgia family.

As Ezio began to ride off, Maria told him to destroy the Borgia. Unknown to Ezio, Maria and Claudia secretly followed Ezio to Rome, desiring to aid him.

Traveling to the Assassins' hideout on Tiber Island, Maria and Claudia met with the Order's leader, Niccolò Machiavelli, who told them to look for Ezio at the Rosa in Fiore.

When they arrived, Ezio was not there, thus they spoke only to the resident courtesans as they waited for him. Shortly, Ezio arrived with news that the brothel's Madame, Madonna Solari, had been killed.

The courtesans needed someone to lead them, and Claudia volunteered for the task. Maria helped Claudia in controlling and managing the brothel, instructing her son to aid the girls wherever he could.

Meanwhile, Maria's health slowly grew worse due to a long term illness, until she inevitably died in 1504.

Legacy
Maria became the most well known member of the Auditore family to historians, because the diaries she kept until 1476 were translated and put on display in the Uffizi gallery in Florence.

Trivia
*Maria seems to be a skilled surgeon, as she is seen stitching up Giovanni's near-fatal wound in Assassin's Creed: Lineage.
*Maria only speaks three times throughout Assassin's Creed II: during Ezio's birth, in the quest "Friend of the Family," and when given 100 feathers.
*Maria prays for 12-23 years, since all of the locations that have feathers are not unlocked until Sequence 9 of Assassin's Creed II.
Maria Auditore da Firenze (born 1432), born Maria de' Mozzi, was a Florentine noblewoman during the Renaissance, and a member of the Assassin Order.

Kadar Al-Sayf (unknown - 1191) was a member of the Assassin Order during the 12th century, and the younger brother of Malik Al-Sayf. He was not ranked highly above a novice of the Order, but was still included among the Assassins sent to recover the Templar treasure.

Kadar died within Solomon's Temple in 1191.

Biography
Early life
Born as the son of Faheem Al-Sayf, a Master Assassin, Kadar was brought up in the Assassin fortress of Masyaf with his older brother Malik, training from an early age to become a member of the Assassins, and to be sent out on missions.

Kadar saw Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad as the epitome of skill and power of the Brotherhood and attempted to emulate him, infuriating his elder brother. Malik disliked Altaïr for his skill and arrogance, but Kadar ignored his brother's warnings, following Altaïr's teachings, rather than his sibling's far more cautious ways.

At the time of 1191, Kadar had proven proficient with his weapons, and was deemed capable of being sent on quite dangerous missions. He carried a hidden blade, several throwing knives, and a sword at the time of his death, weapons only granted to Assassins that had proved their abilities and risen in the ranks.

Solomon's Temple
Kadar was ordered to complete a mission with two other Assassins; his brother Malik, and the Master Assassin Altaïr. He was not informed what the mission was to be, and was forced to ask Altaïr what they were meant to be doing inside of Solomon's Temple, as Malik had only said that he "should be honored to have been invited." This lack of information meant that, at the time, Kadar was not yet of high enough rank to be given important or confidential information.

Altaïr assassinated an innocent man close to the entrance of the Temple and incurred the wrath of Malik as the lower-ranked Assassin berated him for dishonoring the Creed. Kadar stubbornly ignored his brother and praised Altaïr for his skill with the hidden blade. Malik left to scout ahead out of exasperation, while Kadar further praised his role model.

The three Assassins continued through the tunnels, leaping over pits in the ground and killing one guard that stood in their way without raising the alarm. Eventually, they found themselves on a stone earthen ledge overlooking a large room. The walls were held back by beautifully carved stone pillars and a highly-decorated golden box was above an excavated entrance on the opposite side of the room. Several scaffolds had been left about the place, as this room had only just been dug out by workmen from Jerusalem.

Malik pointed out the decorated box and claimed that it must be the treasure they were looking for. Kadar hesitantly asked if it was the Ark of the Covenant, but was lightly chastised by Altaïr as being silly, as the Ark was nothing but a fairy-tale. Suddenly a group of Knights Templar walked into the room below, unaware of the Assassins above them. One of these was Robert de Sable, the Grand Master of the Templar Order, and sworn enemy of the Assassins.

Altaïr immediately declared that the life of Robert was his, despite Malik arguing that their mission was to retrieve the treasure, not to kill Robert. However, Altaïr called him a coward and approached his target nonetheless.

Altaïr openly challenged Robert, going against the second tenet of the Creed that ordered Assassins to always be discreet. The Templar seemed unsurprised to see the three Assassins, and easily fended off the attack, separating Altaïr from Malik and Kadar by throwing him through a wall.

Death
The two brothers fought the five Templars, including the very highly-skilled Robert, for some time. During this, Malik was able to save the Templar Treasure and flee with it to Masyaf, as their mission demanded.

Unfortunately, Kadar was not experienced enough in battle to survive the onslaught of so many enemies at once and perished, although it is unclear whether Malik fled before or after this event. Malik's arm was injured severely enough to need amputation upon his return to Masyaf.
Kadar was an excitable person in his youth, always ready to go and take the fight to the enemy rather than skulking around in the shadows, waiting for the danger to pass. As such, he was a better follower of Altaïr's methods in practice than his brother's more careful tactics. This was to the frustration of Malik, as he was more of a rival than friend to Altaïr in their early days of being Assassins.

Kadar was younger than Malik, yet was at a higher rank than novice, despite his youth; meaning he had some ability and skill with his weapons and in fighting style. Kadar would have worked very hard to keep up with his brother in the matters of the Order, looking up to him and to Altaïr in all things. Kadar was obedient to the Creed of the Assassins, and though admiring of Altaïr's arrogant and reckless ways, he seemed to display the humility and patience that an Assassin needed to fulfill their deadly tasks.

He was very darkly skinned, as was Malik, and appeared to have light stubble on his lip and chin. His eyes were an oddly light color, as opposed to the far more common dark brown eyes of Middle-Eastern people. His head was mostly hidden from view by a gray hood, and his dark gray sleeves portrayed his low rank in the Order. The signature triangle-shaped buckle was strapped across his chest and red sash was tied around his waist. Throwing knives were kept on the belt and a sword hung from the left side of his waist. Though endowed with a hidden blade, Kadar had all of his fingers.
Uberto Alberti (1416 – 1476) was an ally of the Templar Order and the Gonfaloniere of Florence, as well as being a former ally of Lorenzo de' Medici and friend of the Auditore family.

Uberto was close friends with Giovanni Auditore da Firenze before the arrest and execution of Giovanni and his family by order of Templar Grand Master, Rodrigo Borgia.

Biography
Early life and Templar affiliation
According to the history books, this man was a saint.
Uberto Alberti lived in Florence for most of his life, and was a well-known and respected lawyer. A majority of the prosecutions he made were won, despite his legal skills being entirely self-taught. During his time as a lawyer, the Medici bank evicted his family, which made him thirst for revenge against the Medici. It was there that he came in contact with the Templars, who promised to give him what he desired in exchange for his cooperation. Uberto agreed to cooperate, and conspired with them after his election in the Signoria, and making ties with the Medici.
Working with the Medici
Uberto advised both Giovanni and Lorenzo on certain matters, and was involved in an interrogation of one of Rodrigo Borgia's men regarding the preplanned assassination of Galeazzo Maria Sforza. He was put in charge of decoding a letter Giovanni had intercepted in Venice, though after it was deciphered by Antonio Maffei, Uberto disposed of it as part of his agreement. Uberto then had a copy of the letter, in its pre-deciphered state, made. He would then give the letter to Giovanni and have him deliver it to Rome in hopes of following the conspirator's trail.

After the near escape of Rodrigo Borgia from Giovanni in Rome, Uberto was among those called to a meeting held by the Spaniard. Taking part in the meeting along with the other Templars, Uberto was informed that Giovanni had to be disposed of in order for their plans to succeed.

Auditore execution
Ezio Auditore met Uberto in Giovanni's office, and though the two were conversing about something urgent, Ezio was dismissed by his father before he could understand their discussion. Soon after, Giovanni sent Ezio to deliver a letter containing compelling evidence to Uberto. Ezio did as his father asked, and swiftly made his way to Uberto's house.

Uberto immediately knew what was in the envelope, and asked Ezio if he would like to stay at his house, though Ezio declined. Moments before Ezio left, he caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure, who was in fact Rodrigo Borgia; the man behind the events that were yet to come. Soon after receiving the letter, Uberto warranted the arrest of Giovanni, Federico, Petruccio, and Ezio for the crime of treason. However, on the day of the execution, Giovanni reminded Uberto of the evidence given to him by Ezio that proved his family innocent, but Uberto claimed that he had no recollection of such evidence, before sentencing the three to death.

At the sight of their deaths, Ezio ran towards the stage, claiming that he would kill Uberto for what he had done, but a brute guard disarmed him before he was able to get close enough. After escaping the guards, Ezio met up with Annetta, who directed him to go to her sister's house, near the Duomo. Once there, Annetta's sister, Paola, taught Ezio the skills necessary to assassinate Uberto.

Death
After a few days of training Ezio, Paola tracked down Uberto so that Ezio's act of vengeance could take place. Ezio followed Uberto to the Santa Croce cloister, where he was attending an art exhibition of Verrocchio.

Uberto was speaking with Lorenzo de' Medici about the executions, and subsequently insulted Lorenzo on his way to the exhibition. After Ezio dispatched the guards patrolling the courtyard of Santa Croce, Uberto spoke with various attending nobles, who lauded him for the executions. Afterwards, Uberto noticed Ezio approaching, but was too shocked to call the guards. Ezio brutally killed Uberto with his hidden blade, stabbing him multiple times in the chest. Avenging his father and brothers, Ezio proclaimed to everyone in attendance that the Auditore were not dead, and that he was still alive.

Personality and characteristics
Uberto was confident in himself and his new power once becoming an ally of the Templars. Even so, all of Uberto's actions were forced upon him by Rodrigo Borgia, who manipulated Uberto to help the Templar Order. He carried out any of Rodrigo's demands, never defying him even when asked to execute his close friend's family. Uberto kept his true allegiances to himself, never sharing it with the family he loved and cared for.
Letter to Uberto's wife
After Ezio killed Uberto, he found an undelivered letter to Uberto's wife in his wallet. Written there was:

My love,

I put these thoughts to paper in the hope that I might one day have the courage to share them with you. In time, you'll no doubt learn that I betrayed Giovanni, labeled him a traitor and sentenced him to die.

History will likely judge this to have been a matter of politics and greed. Know that it was not hate that forced my hand, but fear. When the Medici robbed us of all we owned, I found myself afraid. For you. For our son. For the future. What hope in this world for a man without proper means?

They offered me money, land and title in exchange for my collaboration. And so, this is how I came to betray my closest friend. However unspeakable the act, it seemed necessary at the time. And even now, looking back, I see no other way...

Final words
*Uberto: You would have done the same, to save the ones you love...
*Ezio: Yes... I would. And I have!

Trivia
*According to the Animus database, Uberto was not a Templar. However, when viewing the portraits of Ezio's victims in his room in the Villa Auditore, Uberto's portrait depicts otherwise.
*If you watch carefully at the end of his database video, it shows four ropes hung on the gallows in front of the Palazzo della Signoria, instead of the three shown in-game.
*If Uberto is left alive for a few moments after he has seen Ezio, he will eventually break out of shock and call for the guards to arrest him.
Kadar Al-Sayf (1170 - 1191) was a member of the Assassin Order during the 12th century, and the younger brother of Malik Al-Sayf.

Kadar Al-Sayf (1170 - 1191) was a member of the Assassin Order during the 12th century, and the younger brother of Malik Al-Sayf.

Death
{{Dialogue2|Malik|Gone... because of you!|Altaïr|Robert threw me from the room. There was no way back, nothing I could do.|Because you would not heed my warning! All of this could have been avoided!

Jubair al Hakim (1150 - 1191) was the Chief Scholar of Damascus, and secretly a member of the Templar Order. He was the eighth man assassinated by the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad by order of Al Mualim. His death, like those of his Templar brothers, was ordered by Al Mualim. Jubair was found in the Middle District of Damascus.

Biography
The learned scholar
Unknown to many, Jubair secretly became a Templar at some point in his life. He and nine other Templars guarded the secrets of the Piece of Eden.

Also known as the head of "The Illuminated," Jubair al Hakim was the Chief Scholar of Damascus and led his fellow scholars. However, the Templar ideology caused his view of literature to turn into a hatred. Rather than seeking knowledge, The Illuminated began hunting down and incinerating all sources of written knowledge within Damascus, believing the documents to be the source of evil and hatred in the world. They blamed the war between the Saracens and the Crusaders on written documents, as it was the Bible that drove the Crusades.

Jubair al Hakim had disdain for the works of many writers such as Plato and Socrates. He was a ruthless man, with little tolerance towards any who opposed him. He believed that the illness of learning had to be eliminated, because it fixed people in their ways, preventing them from finding their true calling.

Death
In 1191, Altaïr made his way to Damascus to take the life of the Chief Scholar, and after several investigations, in which he learned of the plans to burn books, he sought out Jubair.

Altaïr witnessed Jubair and a few of his followers in a courtyard, adding scripts to a roaring fire. While the rest of his followers added fuel, a man started arguing with Jubair, claiming the scripts to be gifts, not curses. Jubair asked the man if he truly loved his books, to which the scholar responded that he did.

In a burst of rage, Jubair pushed the man onto the pile of burning scripts and watched him die. After asking the rest of his followers if anyone wished to join him, the scholars set out to conduct book burnings throughout the city.

Altaïr had to track down the actual Jubair among dozens of his followers wearing the same uniform, though eventually he found Jubair near the Madrasah Al-Kallāsah conducting a book burning. Unsuspecting and unaware of the nearby Assassin, Altaïr quickly killed him with his hidden blade in the courtyard. With his dying words, Jubair claimed that he merely sought to free people from the books, which he believed made them ignorant and foolish, so that they could think for themselves again.

Personality and characteristics
Jubair was a man of strong beliefs, who had faith in his cause, as well as that of the Templars'. Believing people to be to dependent on scriptures, he decided to burn all written texts in Damascus, intent on freeing the people of their ignorance.

Despite his plans to burn all of the literature, Jubair was an intelligent man. He did not follow orders simply because they were given to him, but he acted on his own thoughts, having given the subject adequate thought. He justified his actions by stating the war between King Richard and Saladin had been started by ancient scrolls, and that the world would have been better without them.

However, Jubair was also a violent man, who was easily angered and would not allow anything to get in his way. When one of his disciples doubted his actions, Jubair didn't hesitate to throw him onto the pile of burning books, and he even went so far as to watch how his former companion suffered a painful death in the flames.

Final words
* Jubair: Why!? Why have you done this?!
* Altaïr: Men must be free to do what they believe. It is not our right to punish one for thinking what they do, no matter how much we disagree!
* Jubair: Then what?
* Altaïr: You of all people should know the answer. Educate them, teach them right from wrong. It must be knowledge that frees them, not force.
* Jubair: They do not learn, fixed in their ways as they are. You are naive to think otherwise. It's an illness, for which there is but one cure.
* Altaïr: You're wrong, and that is why you must be put to rest.
* Jubair: Am I not unlike those precious books you seek to save? A source of knowledge with which you disagree. Yet you are rather quick to steal my life.
* Altaïr: A small sacrifice to save many. It is necessary.
* Jubair: Is it not ancient scrolls that inspire the Crusaders, that fill Saladin and his men with a sense of righteous fury? Their texts endanger others, bring death in their wake. I too was making a small sacrifice. It matters little now. Your deed is done... and so am I.

Trivia
* Jubair al Hakim may be inspired by the Arab-Spanish geographer, traveler, and poet Ibn Jubayr.
* Like Talal and Sibrand, vigilantes will stop Jubair if he flees.
* The name "Jubair" means "The forced one", which may refer to his actions through force. In Arabic, "Al Hakim" means "The wise one."
Talal (c. 1157 - 1191) was a slaver and a secret member of the Templar Order. He was one of nine men killed by the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, upon the order of Al Mualim, the Mentor of the Levantine Assassins during the Third Crusade. He was located in the rich district of Jerusalem where he had based his slave trading business.

Biography
The slaver of Jerusalem
Talal operated a large slave ring, which was ignored by the guards of Jerusalem, who were usually very vigilant. He was quick-witted, agile, and an expert marksman. There were tales of him fleeing a battle, only to be seen at higher ground, where his bow rained down arrows with exceptional accuracy. He kidnapped beggars, whores, and thieves from the sewers, brothels, and prisons they lived in, according to Garnier de Naplouse, and shipped them to Acre for "healing" to be done by him.

Able to outrun most men with ease, Talal was proud of his acrobatic prowess and had no qualms about singing his own praises to anyone who would listen. He found humor in everything – and was especially fond of toying with his enemies before killing them.

He was also known to have a very loyal band of henchmen that followed his every word, even if that meant laying down their own lives. Ending up joining the Templars, Talal learned their secrets and acquired knowledge of the Pieces of Eden.

Death
Altaïr investigated Talal's movements within the rich district and discovered him to be within his slave warehouse. As soon as the Assassin entered the warehouse, Talal began taunting him.

He then situated his men to surround Altaïr, boasting that he had led the Assassin there. The Templar then ordered his men to kill the distressed man, and his orders were followed without question. Talal watched the fight, looking on in anticipation for the guards to defeat Altaïr. However, the Assassin overpowered the guards and defeated them.

Recognizing the danger he was in, Talal fled from his slave complex through a trapdoor in the ceiling. Altaïr immediately gave chase to his fleeing target, and pursued him in a long, agile chase across the rooftops and through the streets of Jerusalem. As Talal prepared an arrow for his bow, Altaïr quickly closed the gap between them, and stabbed him with his hidden blade.

With his dying words, Talal remarked that the people he had been selling were the most unfortunate people in Jerusalem, and that they would be better off once he had sent them away. He also remarked that he no longer believed in anything after death and that the people he had "rescued" had abandoned their beliefs as long as he had. Unable to speak anymore, Talal died in Altaïr's arms.
Personality and characteristics
Talal was a cruel man, locking up men and women. He claimed to do the right thing, stating the people he imprisoned to be mere beggars, whores, addicts and lepers. He knew that his death would not get in the way of his Templar brothers' goals.

Like his fellow Templars, he had lost faith in God, claiming that not only he had been abandoned, but the people he took into his care as well, and he believed to be saving them. He was somewhat arrogant as well, believing that Altaïr would fail to defeat his men and even taunting Altaïr beforehand.

Talal usually carried a bow on his back, along with a quiver full of arrows. He also wore a sword sheathed in its scabbard, though he was more experienced with a bow and arrow. He wore a dark gray tunic with yellow stripes and plain white leggings. Talal also wore two vambraces on each wrist and had a large belt around him. He also had a goatee and had his hair braided flat against the back of his head. He was of average height and stature.

Trivia
*Talal was also featured in the E3 2007 gameplay trailer, where Altaïr infiltrated the slave trader's den, before chasing and killing Talal.
*Talal is one of the few assassination targets to be stopped by vigilantes when fleeing, the others being Sibrand, Abu'l Nuqoud, and Jubair al Hakim.
I took them, not to sell, but to save, and yet you'd kill us all... for no other reason than it was asked of you.
*Altaïr: No! You profit from the war, from lives lost and broken.
*Talal: Yes, you would think that, ignorant as you are. Wall off your mind: they say it's what your kind do best. Do you see the irony in all this? No, not yet, it seems, but you will...

*Even after his death, his guards can still be seen in Jerusalem.
*Talal is the only target where in the assassination mission, anyone is hurt or killed.

Tamir (c. 1147 - 1191) was a secret member of the Templar Order, and a well-known black market merchant based in the poor district of Damascus, Syria.

He was the first target assigned to the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, in his pursuit of redemption.

Biography
Life as a black market merchant
Tamir ran the largest black market in Damascus from the Souk Al-Silaah and sold to both Crusaders and Saracens. Some remarked that it may have been the most sizable underground trade in battle arms in the Holy Land.

Tamir was able to acquire almost anything, as long as his buyer was willing to pay the price, though he specialized in weapons and armor. He made no apologies for being a death-dealer, and seemed proud of the countless lives that were taken by his weapons. He had no morals and was prepared to do whatever he deemed necessary to increase his profits.

Death
You will pay for this. You and all your kind.
After having learned much about Tamir through his investigations, Altaïr moved into an ornate, sunken courtyard, ready to assassinate Tamir. Tamir arrived shortly afterwards, arguing with one of his merchants. The merchant claimed that he could not comply with the large order that Tamir had demanded of him, stating that Tamir was asking for too much. Tamir, outraged at this excuse, pressed forward, spit in the merchant's face, and drew a knife.

He began to mercilessly slice into the merchant, until a final stab sent the man sprawling into the fountain, his blood pooling in the water. Tamir stopped one of his guards from removing the body, saying that it would serve as a lesson for others. He then set off to inspect the other merchant stands in the courtyard.

The crowd dispersed, and Altaïr quietly moved behind Tamir and executed him with his hidden blade. During his last moments, Tamir claimed his motives to be far nobler than that of profit, stating that he had merely a part to play in his Brotherhood's plan. Tamir soon perished and Altaïr was left to escape from Tamir's guards.

Personality and characteristics
Tamir was a proud but cold-hearted taskmaster, who would not take "no" for an answer. He had high expectations, and was vicious in punishing those who could not meet them; brutally killing the merchant who could not complete the weapons order for his Templar brethren.

Unknown to the general population of Damascus, Tamir secretly worked with the Templars, and even at death's door, he insisted his cause was noble. He understood that he was merely a pawn, and warned Altaïr that the "others" would not take kindly to his assassination.

Tamir wore an auburn brown turban with a tint of yellow around it. The loose pantaloons he usually wore were a lighter shade of brown, with dark golden inscriptions surrounding it. He often wore a long, rust-colored embroidered tunic, which hung almost up to his knees.

He also wore an orange leather belt with a darker yellow pair of shoes. He was of tall stature, and had a dark brown mustache.

*Tamir: Ah, but he thinks I act alone. I am but a piece, a man with a part to play. You'll come to know the others soon enough... they won't take kindly to what you've done!
*Altaïr: Good. I look forward to ending their lives as well!

*The name "Tamir" means "The date farmer".
*Tamir is one of the few video game characters actually rendered with chest hair.
*Another character of the same name and profession appears in Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles, though he evidently had no actual connection to this Tamir.
*The name "Tamir" should be pronounced "Ta-mir" with a short "i" .
*Tamir has his own personal bodyguards, who are dressed in crimson red and gold lined uniforms. He is one of five out of the nine to have personal bodyguards; the others being Talal, Abu'l Nuqoud, Majd Addin, and Jubair al Hakim.
