I might understand the complaint about more guns if the fact that they added more was not grounded in the historical research they've done. Pirates did in fact carry a lot of pistols, so it's only realistic that a pirate like Edward would by packing quite a few. I don't see the problem so long as they still make the pistols slow loading so they can't be abused too much.

Perhaps they are going to build up Edward as a pirate so that they then have a plotline that can focus on his growth into a mature assassin who learns to be less selfish and short-sighted and more wise. It would be boring if they were going to make him an ideal assassin who believes wholly in the cause from the get-go I would think.
