The Leap of Faith is an acrobatic move in which Altaïr (or another Assassin) dives from atop a high structure to land, unharmed, in a conveniently placed pile of hay (or other soft landing material in Assassin's Creed II). The Leap is performed by Free Running at a ledge under which is located the target that will break your fall. The Leap of Faith is used to descend from View Points, each of which always provides a suitable safe target for a Leap. However, it can be used to jump down from anywhere, if, of course, there is a safe target below.

Leaps of Faith prove useful for quick descents, and are commonly used after climbing View Points. The Leap of Faith is also handy in losing pursuers, as climbing to the top of a view point usually results in the pursuers to lose sight of the player. Then all he must do is perform a Leap of Faith and he will be at street level and hidden in the target that he landed on.

In Assassin's Creed II, Ezio can perform a Leap of Faith to dive into the water or wagons of fish in addition to jumping into piles of hay. Hay has also been expanded into other piles of soft material, such as piles of leaves. You can also perform a Leap of Faith when you are in the location of where pigeons mingle. Additional in Assassin's Creed II, Ezio can perform "Leap of Faith" by simply drop down from edges, as long as there is a soft landing material directly below him. Performing this will also let play hear the scream of a eagle.

Trivia
*Near the beginning of the game, when Masyaf is attacked by Templars, three assassins display their devotion and faith by performing Leaps of Faith from a cliff. This is based on a real life incident involving the Hashshashin, in which their leader proclaimed that his followers were more devout than any, and would follow all commands he gave. As shown in the game, he ordered several men to jump from a cliff to their deaths, which they did. Unlike in the game, however, they died.
*There is actually nothing coincidental about the placement of the bales of hay, their locations are entirely intentional. During the game, it is explained that the bales of hay and the birds that denote the location of a View Point have been programmed into the memory by Lucy as a way to help out in the navigation of the memory.
*It is odd that Altair and Ezio can survive a Leap of Faith from a high building, such as the Giotto's Campanile in Florence, simply by diving into hay.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze (born 1459) was an important figure during the Italian Renaissance - unbeknownst to most history novelists and philosophers - and a member of the Assassin Order. He is a descendant of Altaïr ibn La-Ahad and the ancestor of Desmond Miles and possibly Subject 16. Ezio was unaware of his Assassin heritage until he was 17-years-old, when, following the murder of his father and two brothers (Federico and Petruccio), Ezio fled from Florence and took solace in the town of Monteriggioni.

After the mentoring and training from his uncle, Mario Auditore, Ezio proceeded on his quest of revenge against the Grandmaster of the Templar Knights, Rodrigo Borgia, who had ordered the execution of his father and two brothers. During his 23 year quest for revenge, Ezio managed to not only unite the Codex pages Altaïr wrote, for the first time since Domenico Auditore, but also to save the cities of Florence and Venice from the Templar Knights' wrath. Later still, Ezio was responsible for the rescue of Christoffa Corombo, uncovering a new plot to discover the "New World".
Ezio Auditore da Firenze was born in 1459 AD, to Giovanni and Maria Auditore. Until the age of 17, Ezio lived a life of luxury as a Florentine Nobleman, unaware of his father's allegiance to the Assassin Order.

Assassin's Creed II
The beginning
The story starts off with Ezio, his older brother, and other people fighting Vieri de' Pazzi's men. Ezio's group wins, is scarred on the side of his mouth, and Vieri escaped the scene before Ezio can do anything to him. He slept with a young woman, Cristina Vespucci, and got caught by the woman's father who made the local guards chase him. Ezio met up with his father at the Palazzo Auditore and did several errands for him, his sister, and his mother and meets Leonardo da Vinci in the process. After completing his errands Ezio returned home to find his father and brothers missing and his mother and sister hiding. Learning that city guards had been ordered to arrest Giovanni and all of his sons, Ezio made his way to the Piazza della Signoria, where his father and brothers were being held, and was instructed by his father find a chest hidden in his office and to take everything out of it and to deliver a sealed letter to Uberto Alberti, the personal assistant of Lorenzo de' Medici and a close friend to the Auditore family. Doing so, Ezio found the assassin coat that he would be wearing for the next 23 years and the letter to contain details of a plot against the city of Florence, and the Auditore family, and was told by Alberti that his family would be released when said letter was presented at the execution as evidence.

The next day, Ezio returned to the Piazza della Signoria to find Alberti presiding over the execution of the Auditores, denying any knowledge of the letter's existance. After attemping to murder Alberti, Alberti ordered the city guards to murder Ezio. After the guidance of one of Giovanni's friends, a thief, Ezio flees the Piazza della Signoria and seeks shelter in a whorehouse, ran by the sister of the Auditore house maid, Paola. Paola later teaches Ezio how to survive in the city as an outlaw, before directing him to Leonardo da Vinci, to repair the "hidden blade" of the late Giovanni Auditore. After fixing the blade, Ezio learns the location of Alberti and, after sneaking into the courtyard of the Basilica of Santa Croce, murders him with his hidden blade, stabbing him numerous times in the stomach, before proudly shouting his name to everyone present making Alberti Ezio's first important assassination.

Now the most wanted man in Florence, Ezio and his mother and sister fled Florence in the hopes of making their way to Spain, but first visiting the Auditore family's villa in the town of Monteriggioni, as a means of shelter. During their travel to Monteriggioni, the three were acosted by Vieri de' Pazzi and his followers, but were saved by the timely arrival of Ezio's uncle, Mario, and his mercenary guards. Mario tells Ezio of the Assassin Order - in an attempt to induct him into the Order - and reveals to him that many of his ancestors, including his father, were apart of the Order. However, Ezio refuses. Enraged, Mario leaves Monteriggioni for the city of San Gimignano, the location of Vieri de' Pazzi, in the attempt of relieving Monteriggioni of its continual assaults. Guilty, Ezio decides to agree to Mario's offer and travels to San Gimignano.

When Ezio arrives outside the city, he joins Mario and his mercenaries in their assault on the city, they wait until nightfall and make there way to Vieri de' Pazzi by killing guards patroling the city. Briefly watching a meeting between Rodrigo Borgia, Jacopo de' Pazzi, Francesco de' Pazzi and Vieri, Ezio finally meets up with Vieri and fights him for the last time. In the end Ezio eventually stabbed Vieri de' Pazzi in the throat. Though it is in vain as Vieri doesn't answer any of his questions before he dies.

Following the death of Vieri, Ezio returned to Florence to prevent the planned de' Pazzi takeover and deaths of Lorenzo de' Medici and Guilani de' Medici. Arriving too late to save Guilani, Ezio manages to prevent the death of Lorenzo de' Medici – the ruler of Florence – and restore his family's good name. Despite this however, the de' Pazzis had already succeded in their plan and brought the city to a state of civil war. After learning the location of Francesco de' Pazzi at the Piazza della Signoria, Ezio chased murdered him and left the corpse to those loyal to de' Medici; although Jacopo de' Pazzi and several other conspirators were able to escape. Shortly afterwards, de' Medici publically cleared the name of the Auditore family and provided Ezio with the names of the conspirators who had escaped.

Learning that the de' Pazzi conspirators were located in San Gimignano, Ezio made his way to San Gimignano and murdered Antonio Maffei, Stefano da Bagnone, Bernardo di Bandino Baroncelli and Francesco Salviati before finally locating and following Jacopo de' Pazzi to an ancient Roman theatre. Once there, Ezio eavesdropped on a conversation between Jacopo de' Pazzi, Rodrigo Borgia and the Venetian merchant, Emilio Barbarigo. After stabbing de' Pazzi for his failure to capture Florence, Borgia revealed to Ezio that he knew that he was there and was apprehended by Borgia's bodyguards while Borgia and Barbarigo fled. Ezio then stabbed both bodyguards, before murdering de' Pazzi.

Venice
With the Pazzi conspiracy ended, Ezio returned to Lorenzo and declared his success. Before leaving the city for Venice, Ezio was granted a gift; a Medici cape, that would keep the city guards attention from him. Ezio then made his way to the studio of Leonardo, only to find that he had just left for Venice himself. Meeting with Leonardo, the two made their way through the appennine mountains to the city of Forlì, narrowly avoiding the Templar soldiers sent after them by Rodrigo Borgia.

Eventually arriving in Forlì, the two made their way to the city docks, where Ezio was refused passage without a pass. It was at this moment that the two heard the screams of a noble lady stranded in the city's wetlands. Rescued, the lady introduced herself as Caterina Sforza, and forced the dockman to grant Ezio passage to Venice. Once in Venice, Ezio and Leonardo were given a brief tour of the city before Ezio begun to seek out a way into the Palazzo of Emilio Barbarigo, although in vain. Suddenly pushed aside, Ezio watched as a collection of thieves attempted to breach the palazzo, but failed, and subsequently aided in the escape of the thief Rosa, who had been shot through the leg with an arrow. After successfuly escaping the city guards, Ezio was introduced to the leader of the Venetian thieves guild Antonio, and together the two concocted a new plot to kill Barbarigo and liberate the merchant district.

The plot was successful, and gave Ezio the name of another Templar conspirator – Carlo Grimaldi. A government official and member of the Council of Ten, Carlo was close to the Mocenigo, the Doge of Venice and hoped to turn him to the Templar cause. Overhearing another meeting between Borgia and Carlo, Ezio uncovered a changed plot to poison the Doge and replace him with the Barbarigo, Marco. Returning to Antonio, the two sought to find a way into the Palazzo Ducale – the Doge's Palace –, searching the front gates, the rear walls and even passing over the the Basilica di San Marco; but were hampered at every turn. Returning to the piazza below, an enraged Antonio remarked at how only birds might get into the Doge's palace, reminding Ezio of Leonardo's flying machine he had seen on the way to Forlì.

After removing the city guards at four separate locations, Antonio's thieves proceeded to light massive bonfires throughout the city, giving Ezio the lift Leonardo's flying machine needed to make it to the Palazzo Ducale. The plan worked and Ezio breached the Palazzo Ducale, although he was too late to save the Doge. Carlo fled, crying out that Ezio had assassinated the Doge, although he himself hid not survive long. Blamed for killing the Doge though, Ezio was now the most wanted man in Venice, and was forced to flee the city guards. Returning to Leonardo's workshop, Ezio was directed to the brothel of Sister Teodora, where Antonio was presiding. Under the cover of carnevale, Ezio made his way to the brothel and begun planning the death of Marco Barbarigo; competing in the four games of carnevale to win the golden mask that would gain him entrance to Marco's private party, Ezio was successful, but found himself denied the golden mask by Marco's cousin Silvio Barbarigo and his slave Dante Moro. The assassin was successful in regaining the mask and managed to assassinate Marco, leaving to door open for Agostino – a Barbarigo not entwinned with the Templars – to become Doge.

With his quest nearly at an end, Ezio tracked down Silvio Barbarigo and his slave Dante Moro, in the process liberating the mercenary leader Bartolomeo d'Alviano and his soldiers. Having tracked the Templars to the city Arsenal, Ezio managed to break in and kill Dante Moro and Silvio barbarigo, but was astonished to learn that the plot to remove the Doge was merely a distraction so that the Templar's could move their vessel to Cyprus, although the reasons for this were unknown to Ezio.
Induction into the Order and later years
Two more years passed before word of the Templar vessel reached Ezio once again; when Rosa brought him a shipping manifest detailing the return of the ship that very day. Sneaking into the Arsenal, Ezio watched as a templar soldier carrying a Piece of Eden disembarked from the ship and made his way to a Templar base in the city. Following the soldier, Ezio assassinated and impersonated the guard, carrying the Piece of Eden to a meeting with Rodrigo Borgia himself. Finally able to confront the man ultimately responsible for the deaths of his father and brothers, Ezio spurned the Templar Grandmaster for the non-appearance of the supposed prophet detailed in the Codex prophecy. Borgia responded, proudly naming himself the prophet before engaging Ezio in battle; the battle was short and Ezio easily bested the Templar. On the backfoot, Borgia called upon the city guards and insulted the assassin for the lack of "his people" showing up.

At this very moment Mario Auditore, Antonio, Paola, Teodora, La Volpe and Bartolomeo d'Alviano appeared, driving off Borgia and revealing themselves to Ezio as assassins. With the arrival of Niccolò Machiavelli, the Assassin Grandmaster, it as revealed to Ezio that he was in fact the supposed prophet, and that for the past decade they had all worked together to induct Ezio into the Assassins Order proper. That night, they all met up again, and Ezio was formally inducted into the Order.

Over the next few years Ezio continued to serve the assassin's faithfully, defending Forlì from the Orsi brothers and defeating the Dominican priest Girolamo Savonarola during his purge of Florence in 1498. In 1491, at the behest of the Assassin Antonio, Ezio helped to rescue the Spanish-Genoan explorer Christoffa Corombo.

The following year, in 1499 the assassins finally came together once more at the Villa Auditore, with the Piece of Eden and the completed Codex in hand. Using the two objects, they discovered the location of the Vault to be under the Vatican, in Rome. Unfortunately for them however, Rodrigo Borgia had become Pope in 1492, although Mario believed he had only done so to gain access to the Papal staff, another of the Piece of Eden’s. Undeterred, Ezio travelled to Rome with a mission to assassinate Rodrigo Borgia. Fighting his way along the entire length of the Passetto di Borgo, Ezio snuck into the Sistine Chapel and struck at Borgia from above. Preparing to deal the killing blow, Borgia surprised Ezio by using the Staff to blast him away and drain the energy of those in the room. Ezio though, possessing the Apple, was safe from the Staff’s effects and the two engaged in a duel; Ezio using the same technique Al Mualim had in his duel against Altaïr in 1191. The duel ended in success for Ezio once more, though Borgia did manage to obtain the Apple and make his way to the Vault. Outside the Vault, Ezio watches as Borgia tries, in vain, to open it. Laying down his arms, Ezio challenges and defeats Borgia in a fist fight, obtaining possession of both the Staff and the Apple, but refusing to take Borgia’s life.

Entering the Vault, Ezio stood in shock as he was confronted by a hologram-esque individual naming herself "Minerva", and claiming to be one of "Those Who Came Before"; Ezio was further confounded when the hologram sought not to speak to Ezio, but through Ezio, to an unseen figure named Desmond, before leaving abruptly and Ezio with many questions. At some point after this event, Ezio made his way to Italy once more, this time to liberate his fellow assassins in the country, who were being persecuted by the Templars under the guise of a religious inquisition.

After returning from Rome, Ezio sealed his piece of Eden under the statue of Altaïr at the Villa Auditore.

Ezio was a young Florentine nobleman who lived during the 15th and 16th century. Unlike his ancestor Altaïr, he was a brought up without knowing of the assassins existence; a seducer of women and playful man, Ezio possessed acrobatic skills beyond what most had, save for his brother and father. Having left school at an early age, Ezio was without a formal education, perhaps explaining his playful nature. He came from an affluent background and had many friends until the deaths of his father and brothers drove him out of Florence. Forced to protect his mother and sister, Claudia, Ezio became an Assassin, exacting revenge on the conspirators who had betrayed his family and plotted to seize both Florence and Venice. His first victim, Uberto Alberti , the one who sentenced his father and brothers to public execution, was assassinated publicly, forcing the Auditore out of the city and to the town of Monteriggioni, where his uncle resided. At first, Ezio wanted only to stay briefly, wishing to move his family onwards to Spain, and away from those who conspired against him. However after considerable persuasion from his uncle, Ezio decides to remain and exact his revenge upon the Templars as a whole. Aided not only by his uncle Mario but also Leonardo da Vinci, Ezio managed to redeem the good name of his family in Florence, portraying the same level of loyalty his father had to the city’s ruler: Lorenzo de' Medici.

Quick to anger, Ezio often allowed his emotions to overcome him, going so far as to disrespect the corpse of Vieri de’ Pazzi just after his death. Eventually however, Ezio did manage to control his anger, and by the time he had become a Master Assassin, could control it almost completely. An explorer, throughout his quest Ezio scoured the cities looking not only for the Codex pages, but also to obtain the assassin seals from the six assassins tombs spread across northern Italy. After obtaining them, Ezio had access to the black Grandmaster robes of his ancestor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze was a highly skilled assassin during the Italian renaissance and a leader amongst the Order of Assassins. A master of multiple fields, including theft, blending, armed and unarmed combat, free-running and long-distance combat; he is able to use a variety of weapons including two hidden blades, the longsword, throwing knives and more. As the years progress, Ezio's discoveries of the pages of the codex allowed da Vinci to upgrade his weaponry, including the addition of a wrist gauntlet, wheel lock firearm concealed beneath his left hidden blade, and a poison needle inside the other.

Born with the ability to use Eagle Vision, Ezio could access the ability to instinctively differentiate friend from foe. He also had access to a variety of weaponry and armor thanks to the various blacksmiths located throughout the region; including maces, longswords and daggers.

Trivia
*The Italian name 'Ezio' derives from the Greek word 'Aetos', which means "Eagle", similar to Altaïr whose name means "The Flying One".
*Unlike Altaïr (who had his ring finger removed as a commitment to make way for the Hidden Blade), Ezio has all ten fingers; a modification to the Hidden Blade made by Altaïr sometime after he defeated Al-Mualim making this possible. Leonardo da Vinci deciphered a Codex Page written by Altaïr on which said modification was illustrated. Instead of removing their ring finger, Assassins now have a mark burned into the ring finger as a sign of their lineage.
*It is stated in the Philosophical Codex that after Altaïr defeated Al-Mualim in 1191 and became the leader, the Assassins were forced to realize the scope of their fight against the Templars, and had to abandon many of their traditions: like the removal of the ring finger and the ban on using poison, in order to survive.
*Ezio also uses a wheellock firearm, based off of a design found in the Codex pages; historically a type of weapon that didn't develop until just after the time-frame of the game, some of the first wheellock firearms were, in actuality, designed by da Vinci.
*Ezio's face in Assassin's Creed II seems to be a mixture of Desmond's (Francisco Randez) and Devon Bostick's from Lineage .
*It would appear that Ezio remained unaware of his bloodline, and that he is a descendant of Altaïr, despite learning about him in Monteriggioni. Ezio never truly understood why he was such a successful assassin himself.
*Ezio is 40 years old in 1499 (20 years older than Altaïr's age in 1191); the same age as his father upon his death in 1476.
*If you move the camera to a certain angle in the game, Ezio's face has barely aged, except for the beard, even if you played through 20 plus years of his life. His voice does deepen and mature through time though, making him sound calmer and talks slower.
*Just like Altair and Desmond, Ezio has a scar on his mouth, acquired after the mission "Boys Will Be Boys", when Vieri De Pazzi threw the rock at his face during the first memory sequence
The order has existed for at least a millennium, and was active during the Third Crusade, the Renaissance, and even into the year 2012.

The order believes in a firm creed of values that strictly govern their way of life, consisting of three tenets: stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent, hide in plain sight, and never compromise the Brotherhood. These tenets are lived daily by Assassins in the fight for "peace in all things". The Assassins carry out their duties through political strategic assassination, and by doing so, potential threats to peace are forever suppressed. By killing one individual, the Assassins believe that they can save tens of thousands.

Through their work, Assassins could be easily looked upon as keepers of peace. Assassins believe that they fight on behalf of those people who do not possess their abilities or resources to speak out against those in power who harm the powerless. Assassins speak to these corrupted men for the dispossessed by introducing them to the sharp edge of a blade.

By doing so, the common people are freed from the shackles of oppression. Even though the Assassins fight for the people, they are feared, because no matter how one looks at the matter, killing above the bounds of the law for noble purposes is still killing, still an essentially evil act. The only way to justify the Assassins' deeds is to see them through the prism of long-term self-defense, though many moralists and philosophers claim this is just sophistry, a rationalization for murder. The Assassins were most feared due to their terrifying reputation for taking life in public places before many witnesses. The Assassins did so to create an atmosphere in which it was not safe to commit corrupt acts under the sun. This spread fear amongst their enemies, for they never knew when they might fall to an enemy who they could not see or hear.

Assassins used a particularly efficient weapon for assassinations: the Hidden Blade. A single thrust from this weapon could change the course of the Holy Land's future, as well as that of all future history. Such power could easily go to an Assassin's head, causing him to lift himself above others knowing he could change history, thus becoming as corrupt as the men whom he slew. But the devotion to the Assassins primary goal (peace in all things) and the knowledge of their "Assassin's Creed" provided the moral guidance necessary to keep the corruption caused by ultimate power at bay. This was not always the case. In order to have the precise political impact desired by an assassination, the Assassins possessed extensive political knowledge and remained always in tune with the ever-changing politics surrounding the many empires of the Holy Land and later of Western Europe during the Renaissance. They used this information to decide whose death would most benefit the people of their region.

Obtaining this information was done by stationing agents within the various cities of the Middle East and Europe to keep an eye on the actions of the various nobles and rulers. When deployed on missions, elite master assassins or blade hands were the ones responsible for carrying out public assassinations. They worked alone in the field, usually disguised as holy scholars of any of the three major monotheistic faiths or other suitable caricatures. When stationed in a particular city, the Assassins would spend an immense amount of time getting acquainted with their environment and learning where and when it would be best to strike at their chosen target. The actual strike itself always took place in public. By performing the murder in the public's eye, the Assassins knew without a doubt that news and information about the assassination would spread quickly amongst the common people, and those other corrupt men who served the one assassinated, effectively spreading fear and disrupting the chain of command among the corrupted regime that had been targeted by the Assassins.
Assassin's Creed
In 1191, during the Third Crusade, the Syrian branch of the Assassins Order has its stronghold in the fortress of Masyaf. Led by Al Mualim, the Assassins battle with the Templars and their leader, Robert de Sable over ideologies and the means with which to accomplish them. It is during the Third Crusade and this low-scale war with the Templars that Altair must find wisdom within himself from the "Assassin's Creed" in order to accomplish the assassinations appointed for his redemption. As the war intensifies and Altair begins to understand the Assassin's true way of life: the "Creed", its meaning begins to open Altair's eyes and mind to question his cause and the lives he is meant to take in the name of the Assassin's peace. Is killing these men the true and only way to teach those that have strayed? Or do they not deserve a second chance; "misguided perhaps but pure in motive". Altair, after killing Robert de Sable, confronts his Master, Al Mualim, who has secretly been a high-ranking Templar the entire time. After a grueling struggle, Altair defeats Al Mualim and becomes the leader of the Assassins, though many lives were lost during Al Mualim's short reign of Terror. Altair then dedicates the Order to hunting down and destroying the remaining Artifacts, left by "Those Who Came Before," using the Piece of Eden to find them.

During the Renaissance time period, the Assassin Order had apparently "gone underground". The reason for this is explained inside the codex pages, where by Altair states that even though the Templar Order was served a crushing defeat in the Holy Land and Cyprus, they still survived in more inconspicuous ways. As such, Altair believed that the Assassins too had to change tactics so as to live on.

For example, he talked of abandoning the Assassin fortress of Masyaf and conducting their operations more covertly so as not to attract attention from their enemies. He also proposed that the method of removing the ring finger was an obvious sign to Templar forces who the Assassin members were, and found a way to modify the Hidden blade and still keep their finger. The Renaissance Italian Assassin Order, however, didn’t follow all these traditions that were passed down to them.

One example of this was the Auditore Villa, built by Ezio's great-grandfather, which acted as an Assassin fortress, containing recovered Codex pages and the Armour of Altair. It was considered an Assassin fortress (whilst containing the Auditore crypt) even displaying a mix of the Auditore and Assassin symbols.

Rituals were still in place to induct new recruits as shown when Ezio is finally revealed to the rest of the Assassin Order, many of who have helped him over the years. Machiavelli (the supposed Grandmaster of the Assassins during the Renaissance) conducted a ritual, where by he posed questions to Ezio, who had to respond with "Nothing is true, everything is permitted". He then finished by burning the ring finger on Ezio’s left hand, the same finger which use to be taken from Assassins to show their commitment to their Order.

However they did still follow Altair's idea of keeping hidden and evolved into a secret society (even though they still displayed Assassin Tomb's and the Auditore Villa).

Assassin's Creed II

The Hashshashin (also Hashishin, Hashashiyyin, or Hashasheen), from which the word assassin is thought to originate, was the Persian derived designation of the Nizari branch of the Ismā'īlī Shia Muslims during the Middle Ages.

==Assassin's Creed==

Assassin's Creed II

Real History
The Hashshashin (also Hashishin, Hashashiyyin, or Hashasheen), from which the word assassin is thought to originate, was the Persian derived designation of the Nizari branch of the Ismā'īlī Shia Muslims during the Middle Ages.
One of the nine people Al Mualim orders Altaïr to publicly assassinate. He dwells in the poor district of the city of Jerusalem.

Description
Majd Addin is Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn's Regent of Jerusalem, and demands that his citizens follow the law - his law. He issues many edicts regarding how people should conduct themselves, and anyone perceived to be breaking these laws - or as a direct threat to either the city or Majd Addin himself - is dealt with in a public "trial", where they are either framed or have their so-called "crimes" exaggerated to the point that the crowd demands their deaths - which Majd Addin is only too happy to deliver personally.

Majd Addin is more than happy to admit that he enjoys controlling and taking the lives of others. He arbitrates and controls the citizens of Jerusalem through acts of strong fear and intimidation.... All the more reason why a feather was issued on his head.

Death
Majd Addin was publicly assassinated by the silent assassin Altaïr. The assassin claimed his life during one of his public executions (as Majd Addin proceeded with lecturing the crowd feeding his killer ego). In his dying moments, he gave Altaïr explanations and reasons for his evil deeds, commenting that while he joined the Templars to help them take control of Jerusalem, in reality, he simply wanted the power and fear such a position granted.

Final Words
Altaïr: Your work here is finished.

Majd: No! No! It had only just begun!

Altaïr: Tell me, what's your part in all this? Do you intend to defend yourself as the others have, and explain away your evil deeds?

Majd: The Brotherhood wanted the city: I wanted power. There was... an opportunity.

Altaïr: An opportunity to murder innocents!

Majd: Not so innocent! Dissident voices cut deep as steel. They disrupt order. In this, I do agree with the Brotherhood.

Altaïr: You'd kill people simply for believing differently from you?

Majd: Of course not! I killed them because I could! Because it was fun! Do you know what it feels like to determine another man's fate? And did you see the way the people cheered? The way they feared me? I was like a god! You'd have done the same if you could! Such power!

Altaïr: Once perhaps, but then I learned what becomes of those who lift themselves above others.

Majd: And what is that?

Altaïr: Here, let me show you! (stabs Majd in the neck with the Hidden Blade)

Trivia
Majd Addin (Glory of the Faith) may be very loosely based on a man named Bahā' ad-Dīn ibn Shaddād (splendor of the faith), who was close to Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb (Saladin) and wrote a biography of the great Saracen military leader and sultan. Bahā' ad-Dīn was a jurist and a scholar. Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn liked his writings so much that he befriended the man and made him the judge of his armies. Bahā' ad-Dīn did not ever proclaim himself the Regent of Jerusalem, however.

In one of Altaïr's investigations, it is revealed that Majd Addin was once the scribe of the emir. Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn is the Emir or Sultan at this time. Malik tells Altaïr that Majd Addin has "declared himself Regent in Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn's absence". However, when listening to the men during one of his eavesdropping investigations (the one man is the father of one of those to be executed), it becomes clear that the people are under the impression that Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn has appointed Majd Addin as Regent.

This is purely speculation, but as a scholar, Bahā' ad-Dīn was also a scribe or writer and did chronicle the life and times of Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn. The similar meaning of their names also adds to the possibility.
Dante Moro (1460-1485) is a Templar and personal slave of Marco Barbarigo. He was previously the captain of the city guard as well as personal body guard to Marco Barbarigo.

Marco desired Dante's wife Carlotta, so he hired a hit on Dante. During the attempt on his life Dante is stabbed 3 times in the body and once in the head. While he miraculously survives the attack, Dante is left with severe brain damage and the mind of a child. After Marco coerces Dante into annulling his marriage to Carlotta, Marco makes Dante his personal slave.

He is first seen in Venice with Marco, Silvio Barbarigo and Carlo Grimaldi plotting to kill the Doge. He is next seen in the carnival with Silvio, where he fights Ezio in hand to hand to win a golden mask. He and Silvio cheat to win the mask and prevent Ezio from entering Marco's private party and killing him. Ezio then steals the golden mask from him and attends the party. Dante shows up and tries to look for Ezio, but fails, resulting in Marco's death. Dante goes with Silvio and escapes to a different part of Venice. Ezio finds them and kills them both when they are heading for a ship. Ezio asks them where they were going, and Silvio says he will not tell. Dante, however, says they are going to Cyprus, and is about to tell Ezio what for, but dies. After the assassination of Dante Moro, Ezio recovers a letter intended for Dante from his ex-wife Carlotta. Which reads:

My love,

I wonder if ever the day will come when these words might make sense to you once more. I am sorry for what I've done - for what you and I have both become. Though we could not be together , just knowing you were near was enough. And now, with Marco dead, I may yet find a way for us to be joined again.

But do you even remember me? Or were the wounds too grave? Do my words stir- if not your memory, then your heart? It doesn't matter what they say- I know you're still in there, somewhere.

I will find a way, my love. To remind you. To restore you...

Love always,

Carlotta
*Dante wields an axe, much like the ones that brutes carry.
Archbishop Francesco Salviati of Pisa, (1443-1479) was one of the major Pazzi conspirators.

Francesco was convinced he would be the next Archbishop of Florence. But he was enraged when Lorenzo de' Medici stood in his way. But the Templars were there to heal his wounds. It was Salviati who marched his troops into the city. Afterwards, he fled to an area near San Gimignano. Francesco lives within Villa Salviati in Tuscany, where he is assassinated by Ezio in Sequence 5. Ezio opens the villa's gate to let in Mario's mercenaries. Salviati screamed insults at Ezio and the assassin replied that the Templars talked too much.
In real life, Archbishop Salviati was the main instigator of the conspiracy and not the Pazzis. He was supposed to go to the Palazzo Vecchio and kill the Gonfaloniere Petrucci and take hold of the Palazzo della Signoria. Yet, he was arrested by Petrucci and hanged by a mob from the window of the Sala dei Duecento next to Francesco de Pazzi. He sank his teeth into Pazzi's chest as he died. His body was cut down and desecrated.
Francesco de' Pazzi (1444-1478) is the father of Vieri de' Pazzi and one of the Pazzi conspirators. He is the third assassination target of Ezio. He is also secretly a Templar. Apart from that, he was also one of Firenze's wealthiest nobles.

Assassins Creed 2
He is first seen discussing with Rodrigo Borgia (the leader of the Templars),along with his son and his father Jacopo de' Pazzi, in San Gimignano. He is later seen in a chamber, underneath the Santa Maria Novella in Florence, discussing with his father and the Pazzi Conspirators about the assassination of Lorenzo de' Medici and Giuliano de' Medici. He is seen as being very confident that their mission will be a success, but Jacopo warns him that confidence led to the death of his son (killed by Ezio). During a High Mass at the Duomo, he violently stabs Lorenzo's brother, Giuliano, 19 times leading to his death. He then tries to kill Lorenzo, but Ezio fights him off (forcing him to flee). He and Jacopo's soldiers attack Florence. Ezio kills him while attempting to flee, and his naked body is hung over the Palazzo della Signoria by angry Florentines while Jacopo agitates the citizens, causing him to flee.
*It might be that Francesco de' Pazzi had a daughter as well. *In real life, Francesco de Pazzi was dragged from the Palazzo Pazzi and then hanged from the tower of the Palazzo della Signoria on April 26, 1478. His body was then cut down and desecrated.
Uberto Alberti (1416-1476) was a family friend of the Auditores and Lorenzo de' Medici's ally during the time of Assassin's Creed: Lineage and Assassin's Creed II, but betrayed them by issuing an arrest on Giovanni, Federico, Petruccio and Ezio (though he escapes it) by order of Rodrigo Borgia. He is also Ezio's first assassination target in the game. He is portrayed by Michel Perron in both Assassin's Creed II and Lineage (casted as "Umberto Alberti" in the film). He is also considered one of the greatest lawyers in the Italian Renaissance, even though he had no formal education in Law, due to the fact that he was self-taught.

Uberto aids both Giovanni and Lorenzo by giving them advice, but when Giovanni discovers possible evidence of the Templar's plans, Uberto gets rid of it, revealing his true allegiance.

Ezio meets Uberto for the first time in Giovanni's office conversing about something urgent, though Ezio is dismissed by his father before he can understand what they were talking about. Soon, Giovanni sends Ezio with a letter containing evidence that he must give to Uberto. Ezio does as his father asks, swiftly making it to Uberto's house (where Rodrigo is currently at). Uberto immediately knows what's in the envelope and asks Ezio if he would like to stay at his house, though Ezio declines. Soon after receiving the letter, Uberto accuses Giovanni, Federico, Petruccio and Ezio (though he escapes because of his errands) of treason. At the day of the execution, Giovanni reminds Uberto of evidence given to him by Ezio that proves his family innocent, but much to his surprise, Uberto claims that he doesn't know what he is talking about, sentencing the three to death. With the sight of their deaths, Ezio runs up to the front the stage claiming that he will kill Uberto for what he has done, but a Brute Guard disarms Ezio before he could get close enough. Escaping the guards, Ezio heads for Paola, leader of the courtesans, who is watching his mother and sister. After a few days of training Ezio, Paola tracks down Uberto for Ezio's vengeance. Ezio follows Alberti to the Santa Croce where he is attending an art exhibition. After Ezio dispatches the guards watching the courtyard of the Santa Croce, he brutally kills Uberto with his hidden blade, stabbing him 5 times in the chest. Avenging his father and brothers, Ezio proclaims to everyone in the courtyard that the Auditore are not dead.

Final Words
thumb|300px|right|Uberto Alberti database video.
Uberto: You...

(Uberto is stabbed in the chest several times)

Uberto: You would have done the same. To save the ones you love.

Ezio: Yes. I would. And I have.

Trivia
*Uberto saved the Templars from many close calls by destroying evidence of their conspiracy and hindering their enemies' progress
*It should be noted that Ezio assassinates Alberti in a rather "sloppy" manner when you consider that he does so by stabbing the man with the hidden blade at least six or seven times on the chest, rather than plunging the blade into his target's throat, which is the traditional assassination technique used by other assassins, including his ancestor Altair. Of course, this could be easily explained and understandable to most, since it is Ezio's first time tracking down an assassination target, and he has not been trained extensively by that point or he is simply venting his fury on the man who destroyed his family.
*According to the Animus database's filter, Uberto is not a Templar (while plotting with them). However, when viewing the portraits of Ezio's victims in his room of the Villa Auditore, Uberto's portrait says he IS a Templar.
*The reason why guards tried to take only the boys of the Auditore family could be so that they could no longer conventionally carry on their family name, quite effectively wiping out the Auditore.

Father Maffei's first appeared in the second part of Assassin's Creed: Lineage, after Giovanni intercepts a letter from the suspected conspirators of the murder of the Duke of Milan in Venice, which was waxed with the Barbarigo family seal. As Giovanni shows the letter to Lorenzo and Alberti, the latter quickly realizes that the contents are encrypted with a strange code, and that translating it would take several hours. Alberti then hands the letter to Father Maffei to work on.

Later that night Father Maffei hands the complete translation of the letter to Alberti, who praises him for the good work and tells him to fetch Giovanni for his next mission. But before leaving the palazzo, Alberti warns the priest of dangerous secrets, and makes him take a vow of silence, of not to tell anyone of the true contents of the letter. After fetching Giovanni from his residence and returning to the Medici palazzo, he is seen working on a duplicate letter, as Alberti claims they were "unable" to decode it, and hands the completed forged document for Giovanni to deliver to Rome.

After Giovanni's failure to capture Rodrigo Borgia, he returns to Florentine home as his wife tends to his near-fatal wound. Father Maffei then appears in front of the Auditore residence, with armed guards, demanding entry and custody of the Assassin. But Giovanni evades capture as his eldest son buys him enough time to slip into a hidden passageway.

Assassin's Creed II
Father Maffei is seen during the assassination attempt against Lorenzo, attempting to stab him. Maffei is later seen as one of the Pazzi conspirators that Ezio assassinates in San Gimignano (DNA Sequence 5). He is located in one of the towers in town.

Final Words
Carlo Grimaldi was a Templar and a government official. He was close to Doge Monicego of Venice and plotted to kill him. He was also a member of the Council Of Ten.

Carlo craved for political power, and knew the Doge of Venice. He used this to his advantage, and had heard that the Doge's daughter wanted to be with a slave but her father would not allow it. Carlo told them to escape on a boat that very night. When they arrived at the boat, they found Carlo waiting for them with a few guards and the Doge himself. The slave was killed and the Doge trusted Carlo enough to allow him into the Council Of Ten.

Carlo is first seen meeting with Emilio Barbarigo and informing him of Ezio's arrival in Venice. He leaves just before Emilio is assassinated. He is next seen in Venice meeting with Marco Barbarigo, Dante Moro and Silvio Barbarigo. They plot to poison the Doge so one of them can replace him.

Carlo is encountered in the Doge's palace, prior to Ezio's arrival via Leonardo's Flying Machine, where he is playing chess with the Doge after hearing a commotion outside the Palace. Ezio rushes in only to realize that it was too late, the Doge has been poisoned. Carlo blames Ezio and alerts the guards for his death as he runs out of the room. Ezio pursues him and assassinates him in the courtyard.
Jacopo de' Pazzi was the father of Francesco de' Pazzi and grandfather of Vieri de' Pazzi. While Francesco led the Pazzi family in the conspiration against the de' Medici and Auditore families, Jacopo describes himself as "the voice of reason" of the group.

Jacopo is first seen in Tuscany with his son Francesco de' Pazzi, his grandson Vieri de' Pazzi, and the Spaniard Rodrigo Borgia. His next sighting is at a meeting in the Assassin's Tomb in Florence, where he and Francesco are talking to four Templar hitmen hired to kill Lorenzo de' Medici. Jacopo is also seen in Florence after Francesco's death, where he sees Francesco's body hanging from a tower. Knowing that the plan to take over Florence has failed, he flees the city to escape.

Ezio tracks Jacopo to a meeting with the other Templar conspirators. Here, Jacopo is lectured severely and then stabbed in the chest by Rodrigo Borgia. When Jacopo pleads for mercy, Borgia instead stabs a sword through his neck. Jacopo is left barely alive, and Ezio fights through a crowd of Templar soldiers to end his suffering.
Francesco de' Pazzi is the father of Vieri de' Pazzi and one of the Pazzi conspirators. He is the third assassination target of Ezio. He is also secretly a Templar

He is first seen discussing with Rodrigo Borgia (the leader of the Templars),along with his son and his father Jacopo de' Pazzi, in San Gimignano. He is later seen in a chamber, underneath a cathedral in Florence, discussing with other Templars for the assassination of Lorenzo de' Medici. He is seen as being very confident that their mission will be a success, but Jacopo warns him that confidence led to the death of his son (killed by Ezio). During a High Mass at the Duomo, he violently stabs Lorenzo's brother, Giuliano, to death.
