After becoming Master of the Order, Altaïr used the knowledge from within the Apple to construct a lightweight, yet unbreakable set of armor.

History
Unlike the robes Altaïr wore during the events of Assassin's Creed, this armor provides more protection against attacks and is dyed black/red. Due to its advanced design, it is more similar to the armor Giovanni and Ezio wear than Altaïr's original armor. The armor is seen in Assassin's Creed II.

Assassin's Creed II
Years later, Altaïr's armor was stored inside a vault below the Auditore Villa, locked behind bars which only open when all six seals from hidden Assassins' tombs are collected and placed on their respective statues. As each seal is placed, a bar (to which the placed seal corresponds) retracts into the wall. When all six seals are placed, the bars that block access to the Altaïr's armor retracts into the floor, granting access to the armor. Altaïr's armor is the most powerful armor in Assassin's Creed II. Since it cannot break, it doesn't need to be repaired, which saves the user a great deal of florins. Unfortunately, the armor cannot be dyed visibly when worn. In Altaïr's Codex Pages, he claims to have created a new metal which is incredibly strong whilst being light as a feather. In a contrast to other Asassin's robes, Altaïr's Armor is black, while Ezio and Altaïr originally wore white. The black color scheme can be attributed to the rank of Grandmaster of the Syrian Assassin's Sect, which Altaïr obtained after defeating Al Mualim. Once you've obtained it, it can be taken on and off in the Auditore Family Villa in the armor room. Altaïr's armor must be worn all at once, you can't mix it with other armor sets/types. It's important to note that while the armor is unbreakable, it is not a full body suit, which explains how Ezio can be damaged by wearing it.

It is unknown what happened to this armor after the events of Assassins Creed 2. It could be that Ezio was buried with the armor, or he may have resealed the armor and scattered the keys again after he retired from the "field". It could be that the Assassins of the present have it in safekeeping for Altaïr's descendant, or the Templars may have seized it at some point. In any case, the armors location during Desmond's time is not clear. But given the armor's unbreakable nature, if Desmond is ever able to find this armor set; he will be able to use it as bullet-proof armor.

Trivia
*According to a piece of concept art, it seems that the armor was intended to be an invention by Leonardo da Vinci before being a creation of Altaïr.
*While wearing the armor the hood is never down during cut-scenes where it would normally be down if wearing Giovanni's assassin robes.
*The cloak for Altaïr's Armor, in addition to being black, is much longer than the one Ezio would wear with the other armors, and made up of three layers. Each layer is longer than the one above it, and the longest, lower layer is segmented, which gives the whole piece a look resembling Eagle's Wings. The back of the lower layer is also split down the middle, making it behave much like Altaïr's cloak from the original game, where each side would move up and down as the back of Altaïr's legs pushed against them.
*It is interesting to note that the Chest Guard of Altaïr and Pauldrons of Altaïr somewhat resemble Roman Lorica segmentata. Also, the cape-pauldron seems to be composed of leather. Plus, the Vambraces of Altaïr resemble golden Missaglias and Guard Captains wear similar vambraces. The Greaves of Altaïr also bear a strong resemblance to leather.
*The Robes that come with the armor look like a cross between Al Mualim's, Altaïr's and Giovanni's robes.
*Altaïr's armor, unlike other armors in the game, can only be worn as a full set.
*Despite having been created by Altaïr probably in the 13th century, the armour set corresponds with 15th century Italian fashion. This could be attributed to the armoured parts of the outfit being created in the 13th century while the cloth sections where added at a later time period, closer to the 15th century.
There is something VERY wrong with the information appended to the Codex #17. It claims that Altair's vision is that which is shown in 'The Truth' video. However, the vision is actually of the last geological event which destroyed most life on earth (the switching of the magnetic poles). I could not change this myself as the page is locked. Could someone please fix codex 17 by removing the last sentence (which is in parenthesis).
The connection I see is what you see in the truth video, though it's not verified. He speaks about metal towers and mountains. Which seem to me is what Adam and Eve are standing on at the end of the video while you see a mountain in the background. So it seems what Altaïr saw was the end of those who came before. -- Altaïr 17:13, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
*Actually, I see nothing explicitly suggesting that his vision had anything to do with the last geological event. I also see nothing to indicate it has anything to do with the 'Truth' video. Most likely, I think it's a prediction of the future, with the metal towers simply being skyscrapers or similar. <span style="color:#BF404D">Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record</span> 16:40, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
*Well obviously he saw some great disaster. The coincidence though is that he speaks of Metal Towers as well as mountains. Again to me that seems he's talking about what is seen at the end of the truth video, though you don't see it happening of course. It's possibly also he saw the future... There's no clear evidence of this, it could be either way -- Altaïr 18:04, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
*Personally when I first read the codex page in question, I too thought that it was about what had happened in the past, and there are many people who have concluded that. And clearly, the makers of the game would know this would be an assumption. If it would be the future Altair was seeing, then you have to conclude that the world will end. So in which case, what is the point of Desmond? Cause nothing that has been seen was changed. But as it is, we don't know either way, so either we should say 'some of the possible theories are....' or just leave it completely until something is known. But personally I think it is pretty obvious it was the past Altair saw. He saw a vision of how 'they' died, just as Subject 16 saw how the Apple was taken - Maria Thorpe March 13 2010 (UTC)
**the problem with the arguement that Al was seeing the events depicted in 'The Truth' is that Subject Sixteen only see these events in a genetic memory, brought on by his time in the Animus. So there is no merit to the arguement that he is seeing a past event. Besides, 'The Truth' doesn't depict anything getting destroyed whatsoever (besides a glass window), so it's shouldn't even be mentioned at all. Plus, it's OR and cannot be sourced, so it's not going in at all. <span style="color:#BF404D">Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record</span> 04:11, March 14, 2010 (UTC)
*OP here. I just thought I'd clarify my meaning. Altair's vision describes 4 things, pillars of flame, the ground shuddering, mountains cracking and metal towers splintering. Some of those things are fairly straightforward. The earth shuddering and mountains splitting is simply and earthquake and volcano. The metal towers could be A) the facilities built by those who came before (in the past) or B) the sky scrapers of modern man (the present). The pillars of fire could mean anything, but considering the context of the Assassin's Creed universe I'm persuaded to believe that they refer to what would be experience in the event that the earth lost its magnetisms. The Sun's radiation would ionise the gas in the atmosphere and cause it to glow like the Aurora (the radiation would also set just about everything on the face of the earth on fire, killing all life in the process). This is also how Minerva described the events of the past, saying that while Humans and her kind where fighting they did not notice the geological event until it was too late. That's why it killed so many people (screaming, etc). This is why I believe that the imagine shown to Altair by the apple as documented in Codex #17 is an image of the geological event (which happened sometime after the humans waged war upon Those Who Came Before) rather than an image of the future or of 'The Truth' video.<br /><br />On a slightly related note, it's worth adding that even while the Earth's magnetic poles are shifting the earth still maintains its magnetic field, so there is no real danger to life on earth.

*OP here. I just thought I'd clarify my meaning. Altair's vision describes 4 things, pillars of flame, the ground shuddering, mountains cracking and metal towers splintering. Some of those thigns are failry straightforward. The earth shrudering and mountains splitting is simply and earthquake and volcano. The metal towers could be A) the facilities built by those who came before (in the past) or B) the sky scrapers of modern man (the present). The pillars of fire could mean anything, but considering the context of the Assassin's Creed universe I'm persuaded to believe that they refer to what would be experience in the event that the earth lost it's magnetisms. The Sun's radiation would inoise the gas in the atmosphere and cause it to glow like the Aurora (the radiation would also set just about everything on the face of the earth on fire, killing all life in the process). This is also how Minerva described the events of the past, saying that while Humans and her kind where fighting they did not notice the geological event until it was too late. Thats why it killed so many people (screaming, etc). This is why I believe that the imagine shown to Altair by the apple as documented in Codex #17 is an image of the gelogical event (which happened sometime after the humans waged war upon Those Who Came Before) rather than an image of the future or of 'The Truth' video.<br /><br />On a slightly related note, it's worth adding that even while the Earth's magnetic poles are shifting the earth still maintains it's magnetic field, so there is no real danger to life on earth.

I was wondering if this younger Assassin Altair send out to investigate Ghengis Khan could be one of his sons. This could possibly be the one how sparked the bloodline that lead to subjekt 16. beeing located in the far east, 16's ancestors also could be the ones who gave the Codex to Marco Polo through Kublai Khan (who could even be one of 16's ancestors).

Randomnutjob: Ok, I have a theory. What if Altair is a prominent antagonist in the modern day?
I mean, due to a nihilistic fear of death, it's heavily implied that he looked into the apple
of eden again in order to find out how to become immortal. (at least, in an age-based way) If he
used the apple for such an end, what's to say that he, A. Wasn't corrupted by the apple's influence
after using it for something so large and, B. Didn't find a way to become immortal at that point?
I know he's a the protagonist of the first game, but he's still human and isn't immune to the apple's
corruption, as noted in the codex.

Take a look at page 17 of the codexes - Pillars so tall they seem to pierce the heavens- Skyscrapers? Ground rumbled and shuddered- earthquake reference, Mountains split and crack- not sure on this one but seems something that affects the world geographically according to the end. Great metal towers splintered- Reference to buildings again, possibly New York or somewhere in the U.S with tall towers which might have collapsed. This information is useful in predicting the plot of ACIII
Connections- All the mothers of the great assassins are called Maria? Just a theory though, Jesus' mother is the Virgin Mary, called Maria in Europe, then Maria Auditore? Maria Thorpe? == New Codex Map ==

The completed codex map viewed through eagle vision at the end of ACII is pretty interesting. A lot of the dots are the same as in AC1 but some are different and there is now 47. Also, there are 8 Assassin's seals. Personally, I think these seals represent the temples that Minerva spoke of at the end of ACII. These 8 seals appear to represent America(New York), China(Xiang), Norse civilization, Kingdom of Nri (Nri-Igbo), the Majapahit empire (Trowulan) and the Galapagos Islands(for whatever reason). The other two seals are located in parts of the ocean where no islands exist (south of Australia and West of South America(it is too far away to be Easter Island)). Also of note, one of the dots appears to be right in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, which is usually where Atlantis is depicted to be.

I think that the assassin's marks on the map are peices of eden that the assassins managed to obtain/seal up at the time of writing.--CloudHiro 11:18, November 26, 2009 (UTC)
well, its not ment to be a religious game, in fact, in the continuity of the game its sujested that all the religions, wars, times of peice, and leaders were actualy caused by people manipuating the peices of eden. (for instance, its sujested jeasus used A Apple peice of eden to give the people hope in the faith of a higher power, and used the shroud peice of eden to resurect himself after death) its not ment to be a real world cannon, just game cannon. dont take it seriously. just think of it as a alternate universe to ours :) Though the game is right though, way to many massiahs of various religions have very similar stories, born from virgins with names that start with M, the 3 kings, etc. Christianity is the newest one to have this story. Really makes you think honestly. Not that I dont beleve in god mind you. I do. I just dont beleve in religion because far to many people use religion as a excuse to do terrible things and so on, like the holy wars in the dark ages, or terrorist suicide bombers very recently. what I beleve that it doesnt matter what religion you follow, as long as your a geneneraly good person.
I have to agree that the game should be viewed as a parallel universe, although I find that it is leaning against Catholocism more than other religions because the templars are based within the catholic church, their leader becomes the pope, the catholic leader of Britain is a templar ally, Minerva says "beware the cross" not beware the templar or those that stand in your way but specifically the cross even though it is no longer a templar symbol like abstergo's banner, it just seems a little biased in that direction. Otherwise not a very offensive game since the concept of free will and freedom from bondage by injustice (Those Who Came Before and Humans) are central to most religions in one form or another. Also religion should not be bashed because it is used as an excuse for evil, patriotism, family, and personal welfare have been used for evil as well. Does that mean they should be given up? Also, 3 kings? What are you talking about? The Magi were mentioned specifically in christianity and nowhere else. Mary is also not a repetition why would the jewish founders of Christianity use pagan traditions? Their culture forbade the teaching of such religions to jews and the prophecy of the virgin birth was written down hundreds of years before by the prophet Isaiah. They chronicled Jesus' life as they saw it from their own experiences, whether or not the miracles are true is up to you, but why would a bunch of fishermen even try something that crazy if it was just a copy of what came before? Your argument has no basis in reason. Lastly, Fanaticism is not caused by religion. Religion is only one outlet for fanaticism to latch onto.--24.160.152.192 05:50, December 20, 2009 (UTC)
Theories About the Piece of Eden and the Other Artifacts
#In the Truth video, Adam and Eve both see human workers or slaves in some sort of factory. Maybe the Piece of Eden was controlling the minds of the slaves and Adam and Eve were immune to its power. Perhaps Altair and Desmond are descendants of the two.
#The artifacts protect earth somehow.
#We are told by Dr. Vidic that they were left by Those Who Have Come Before.
#The Artifacts also seem to have other abilities like time travel (it is mentioned in the e-mails on Lucy Stillman's computer). It is possible that they were made in the future and, for some reason, sent back in time. Perhaps when the Piece of Eden was damaged in Assassin's Creed, the map was not showing where to find the other artifacts but it was picking a location for it to travel to safety.
#There was a race of beings on Earth, whilst dinosaurs lived, that created the Artifacts. And it was no meteorite that hit the earth, but some huge explosion caused by the Artifacts that ended much of the life on the Earth at the time.
#Desmond and his ancestors all have some sort of link with the Artifacts, which would explain why they can resist its power.
#(Please edit later as the proof can be found on Youtube) Adam and Eve (who had blue, glowing lines) managed to steal "The Apple" by using free-running (Supporting theory 4) from the Garden of Eden (which looked more like a facility with seemingly enslaved workers working to build possibly more pieces). All of this can be found by finding all the glyphs left by Subject 16 and unlocking the video, "The Truth".
#It has been suggested that at some point multiple Pieces of Eden became centralized and governed over by a council of Templars and dispatched to parts of the world in which they perceived there power to be in jeopardy. This can be assumed form the decoded glyphs Ezio helps Desmond uncover in Assassins Creed II. In one such message a world map is shown with a number of high level dignitaries and historical figures, all implied targets of assassins, all of which were directly involved with restorations, or attempted restorations of trappings of power. IE: Mary I of England whom is on the list, Following her father (Henry VIII) creation of the first Protestant state, as well as his standing objection against Pope Paul III, remained a catholic and on her coronation went about persecuting all whom rejected the church's power. It can be assumed she was given a piece of eden by the Pope, or other machinations of the Templars to bring England back into the fold. As she is canonically referred to as assassinated by in game content, it can be assumed that instead of confiscating the Apple, the assassins respected the lineage and bestowed it upon Elizabeth I. (This is not fully true as some on this list also represent apparent Templar assassins whom were killed in vengeance for being successful in some measure (John W. Booth).)
I'm also confused. On the PoE page, it says that the Second Apple was the one destroyed in the satellite incident. But there are other claims that the First Piece of Eden, the one possessed by Altair and Ezio, was destroyed as it refers to the destroyed Apple as the "Masyaf Piece of Eden". It was Piece of Eden 1 , the apple that Altair got which was destroyed in the satellite incident, Vidic states this in Asassin's Creed when Desmond asks him if they are after the Piece of Eden he sees, he tells Desmond that they already found it. As we know it turns out they are looking for the map. It is also told that The Masyaf piece of Eden was destroyed in the satellite incident on the computer, which is the first piece of eden.
So why isnt Leonardo affected and Mario is? (J.h.jaraub 00:52, January 29, 2010 (UTC))

I personally think that Ezio's and Leonardo's resistance is not a matter of genetics or bloodlines but Willpower. That there is nothing special about the Auditore family, and Ezio simply does have the Willpower to resist while Mario does not.

"Unconfirmed"?
In the Trivia section there is this paragraph: "During the battle against Rodrigo in the&nbsp;Sistine Chapel, Ezio creates "clones" much like Al Mualim did against Altaïr. If Ezio is customized, the other Ezio will be dyed with different colors and equipped with armors whereas when he is not customized at all, Ezio's clones will be perfectly identical to the real Ezio (Unconfirmed)."

If the customization refers only to dye, as the linked article suggests, I can confirm this is wrong. I was wearing Altair's armor but I have not changed the colors in a tailor shop, but the other Ezios still had different colors.<br />
Symbols
Should we delete the "(A)", "(T)" and "(!)" symbols? It was a pretty original idea, but it just seems so disorganized. And we don't know for all characters wether or not they were Templars/Assassins, so putting it at only a few might be misleading. And, if readers don't already know if they were Assassins or Templars, they might be encouraged to find out more about them. -- Master Sima Yi 16:17, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
Confirmation on a sentence or I'll change it
I noticed while reading that a generalization (a type of error in logic) occurred, however if anyone can back it up, I will leave it be, the line reads: "There is a a good chance that Altaïr also passed on this gift to Desmond Miles and his other descendants." (In reference to the ability to resist the mind-control power of the PoE.

I believe that this should be changed to "There is a chance..." as (at the moment) the nature of the "gift" is unknown. I'll leave this a few days and change it if no one backs it up.
Confirmed/Possible Pieces meshing?
I think we should merge some of the Confirmed/Possible Pieces of Eden, notably the Golden Fleece and Spear of Destiny. In both the Piece 66 and Golden Fleece sections, it mentions Jason - this should make it clear enough that they are one and the same. As well, the Spear of Destiny fits the Staff Piece well enough to be merged.

Hewkii9 23:51, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

Just because they refer to an individual owning both doesn't mean that they're "one and the same". The very characteristics and myths behind the Golden Fleece and the Spear of Destiny don't come close to matching at all. The same applies to the Spear of Destiny and the Staff. Just because the Staff can be used as a spear doesn't mean that they're the same. The Staff is used for mental manipulation and the Spear of Destiny has its own abilities. I just don't see the evidence to even consider what you're suggesting. -- Reqυiem 04:35, February 14, 2010 (UTC)
What happenend to Apple 1 between AC1 and AC2
It´s a bit confusing... Altair had the intention to hide his PoE in the Archive at Cyprus but instead kept it with him. But then, the same Piece had been recovered from Cyprus hundreds of years later by Templars and was brought to Venice (in AC2) and "stolen" by Ezio. So, wth happenend here? According to the Codex, Altair still had it when he was old. I was wondering... when or why was the Apple brought back to Cyprus? As stated at the PoE Page, it´s the same Artifact in both games.

Throwing Knives are weapons that the Assassins can throw at the enemies, taking them out from a distance.

Assassin's Creed
In Assassin's Creed, the Throwing Knives are first available at level 4. The knives seem to be one of the most powerful weapons (after the hidden blade) and unless the enemy is a Templar or a boss character, they generally kill with one hit. When Altaïr runs out of knives, he can get more by either pickpocketing them from thugs (earns 5 knives), by killing thugs in a fistfight (only 1 knife, zero if a blade is used), or by returning to either an Assassins Bureau or Masyaf (maximizes knife count).

The maximum amount of knives Altaïr can hold increases at certain ranks. After first becoming available at rank 4, at which point the knife capacity is 5, Altaïr gets extra Knife Belts at ranks 7 and 10, increasing the capacity to 10 and 15 (respectively).

Assassin's Creed II
Throwing knives returned in Assassin's Creed 2.&nbsp; The damage for each knife has been scaled down to balance gameplay&nbsp;due to the introduction of the Hidden Gun, and possibly as well to account for the fact that Ezio can hold up to 25 of them once you've purchased all the upgrades now.

*Throwing Knives cost 50 florins each, and can be bought at the Blacksmith's. Since these are very cheap and can be bought at any blacksmith, try to use the knives as much as possible before acquiring the Hidden Gun. Though this player would remind you that Throwing Knives are faster than the gun and reasonably accurate.
*Extra sheathes for throwing knives can be purchased at&nbsp;tailor shops.&nbsp; Up to 20 knives can be carried through upgrades.&nbsp; An additional 5 slots can be purchased through&nbsp;Uplay.
*The special attack of the throwing knife is to throw up three at once, effectively dispatching up to three enemies; this is, for whatever reason, an instant kill on ALL guards, even Brutes. Though a viable explanation would be that Ezio would need time to pinpoint and hit an enemies' vital points. Keep in mind that it takes time to target all three enemies.
*It takes two throwing knives to kill a guard who is watching you, but only one to kill a guard to who you are invisible.
*A throwing knife, courtesy of Rodrigo Borgia, nearly killed Giovanni Auditore in Lineage.
