Revealed by [[Ubisoft]] on 6 June 2011, the film was released on 15 November 2011, alongside several special editions of ''[[Assassin's Creed: Revelations]]''. The short film is available in 15 languages, either through voice dub or subtitles.

This short film was created and produced by [[Ubiworkshop]], and was completely developed internally at Ubisoft Montreal. To create the film, Ubiworkshop worked with two other teams: Ubik, and a team from the Technology Group.<ref name="Ubiworkshop">[http://www.ubiworkshop.com/post/?pid=2931 ''Assassin’s Creed: Embers'' - The Revelation]</ref>

Set after ''Revelations'', the film concludes the life of [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]], who retired from his life as an [[Assassins|Assassin]] and lived with his wife [[Sofia Sartor]] in [[Florence]]'s countryside.

==Plot==
In the year 1524, the former Assassin Ezio Auditore has retired to a villa in the countryside of Florence, with his wife [[Sofia Sartor]] and children [[Marcello Auditore|Marcello]] and [[Flavia Auditore|Flavia]]. While Ezio is writing in his study, Sofia asks him to watch Flavia while she and Marcello visit his sister[[Claudia Auditore da Firenze| Claudia]]. Shortly after, he leaves his study to tend the vines as Flavia plays nearby the villa. In the midst of his harvest, he sees a stranger cloaked in black, talking to Flavia. Fearing the worst, Ezio hurriedly intercepts the stranger, though Flavia tells him that she was no danger, as Ezio sees her necklace with the [[Assassin insignia]].

Later, the Assassin introduces herself as [[Shao Jun]], who has sought out Ezio in hopes of learning how to save her people and order. Ezio refuses to help her, saying that he has retired from his Assassin life and will not go back, and despite Shao Jun's pleas he wants her to leave. However Sofia insists that she stay, due to the distance she has travelled, and Ezio relents, And after watching his family, the former assassin ponders the fact that he cannot escape his past, and worried that he doesn't have much time left to live, goes to bed restless.

The next day, Ezio finds Shao Jun in his private study reading his papers. Angry, he tells her that she must leave. Outside, he finds her, and she recites to him a text he had written years ago, she tells him she wants to understand its full meaning. Ezio decides to show it and takes her to the [[Palazzo della Signoria]] in [[Florence]]. There, he tells Shao of his life as an Assassin and shows the place where his [[Giovanni Auditore|father]] and [[Federico Auditore da Firenze|brot]][[Petruccio Auditore da Firenze|hers]] were executed. Shortly afterwards, as they are walking the alleyways, they are attacked by a hooded stranger whom Shao Jun recognizes. Shao and the man fight, and she dispatches him with a hidden blade concealed in her shoe. Then that she tells Ezio of her past, and how she and her Master sought knowledge from him, and escaped a lifetime servitude in China under a cruel Emperor, but that her master was likley killed and there were people on her trail. Later at his home, Ezio sends Sofia and his children away to safety because he senses trouble. He tells Shao Jun more of his story and gives her some advice about the importance of love as a meaning to keep the Order together. Later that night, they are attacked by more of the Emperor's killers, but they managed to defeat them. In the morning, as she is preparing for the long trip back to China, Ezio gives her a small box and tells her only to open it if she losses her way.

Ezio joins his wife and daughter in Florence. Sofia and Flavia cross the street to buy some groceries while Ezio is seated on a bench, admiring the buildings he once climbed, then, a young stranger sits next to him and starts to complain about 'Firenze' and its girls, saying that those in Rome are much better. Ezio replies that it is not the city's fault. The young man tells him now is the time to leave, and Ezio looks one final time at his family and smiles, knowing that his family is safe from his enemies.

At the age of 65, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Mentor and father, died in his hometown Firenze. He led a life he never chose, yet he was one of the greatest assassins in history.
