Upon his birth, Giovanni was discovered to be malformed, and he was expected to die within a few days. There, he knew the Assassins were guarding the Piece of Eden known as [[Shrouds of Eden|the Shroud]], which Perotto thought would be able to heal his son.<ref name="ACPL - Perotto Calderon"/>

Upon being taken out for a "lesson" with Micheletto, he witnessed Micheletto kill an old man, simply to teach Giovanni the cruelties of the world. Giovanni also made use of another of the Apple's power, albeit accidentally, when he stumbled upon [[Fiora Cavazza]] sneaking around his home, seeking to steal the Piece of Eden for the Assassins. Fearing that he would alert the guards of her presence, Fiora told him to stop and attempted to take the Apple from him. Eventually, in 1503, Giovanni planned to leave his life of fear behind. After he received a letter from a courier pigeon, sent by an unknown individual, he was even more encouraged to do so. Making sure that he wasn't seen, he went to the meeting place by a fountain, and, as instructed, used his "[[Eagle Vision|other eyes]]" to recognize the individual from the crowd.<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Rome"/>

Giovanni followed the individual running across the rooftops, until he finally reached an alleyway, where he was abruptly halted by two thieves, who attempted to rob him. The individual leapt down from above and plunged his [[Hidden Blade]]s into both men, rescuing the boy. The individual then introduced himself as [[Francesco Vecellio]], who turned out to be the former understudy of Perotto.<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Rome"/>

Giovanni happily agreed to Francesco's offer to bring him "to live with his Brothers", and was thus taken in and trained into the Assassin Order.<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Rome"/>

By 1515, the prideful Giovanni was trained by the legendary [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]] alongside another apprentice, the roguish and cheerful [[Hiram Stoddard]]. Giovanni, believing that his special abilities warranted him a special status among his brothers, was frustated with Hiram being his better both in the eyes of their master and in the heart of [[Elena]]. A rivalry developed between the two young Assassins; Giovanni often loosing his temper out of jealousy while Ezio tried to teach him patience and humility.

The rivality culminated during a mission to recover an Apple of Eden and stop a Templar plot that was lead by Hiram. During the mission, Stoddard witnessed something related to Consus and caused by his fellow Assassin, that deeply affected him and an provoked an intense hatred for Giovanni.

One year later, a darker Hiram was no longer following the Creed, obsessed with finding back the Apple that he recovered for the Brotherhood a year before in order to find "her". In [[Greece]], he assaulted the Assassin hideout where the artifact was hidden, but was ambushed by Giovanni. In 1519, Giovanni was secured a position aboard [[Hernán Cortés]] ship, which was to sail towards the New World. Though posing as a chronicler and astrologer, Giovanni had been tasked by the Brotherhood to identify and recover a Piece of Eden from the Aztec city of [[Tenochtitlan]].<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Mexico">''Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy'' - [[Rome: Chapter 4 - Giovanni Borgia]]</ref>

After examining several idols and artifacts, Giovanni finally sensed the presence of the Piece of Eden, recognizing the same "hum" he remembered from the Apple of Eden. He pinpointed the artifact to be a [[Crystal Skulls|Crystal Skull]] in the possession of an Aztec priest, who used it as part of a human sacrificial ritual.<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Mexico" />

Upon returning to Europe, Giovanni brought the Crystal Skull to his ally [[Bombastus]] in 1527 to discover its purpose. Bombastus was confident that they would successfully uncover its secrets, referring to Giovanni as "the one who talks to these things".<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Mexico" />

Despite much examination, however, they were unable to discover how to use the Skull. After this, the other members of the Order began to doubt Giovanni's abilities, and merely dismissed the Skull as little more than an ornate treasure.<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Mexico" />

Nevertheless, Giovanni persisted in studying the Skull for about twenty years, and in 1542, received some answers. Upon discovering the Skull glowing with a faint light, he shook it and began to hear words in a foreign language, as well as see visions of a man dressed in Chinese garb. Giovanni confronted Bombastus to ask him further questions. The two found that the tome was entitled "Divine Science", and had been written by a [[France|French]] alchemist named [[Nicolas Flamel]]. They thus traveled together to [[Paris]], France, where Giovanni received permission to consult the Royal library in [[Louvre|the Louvre]].<ref name="ACPL - Maria Amiel" />

They tracked a grimoire down to the nephew of Perenelle Flamel, but found that the manuscript was only a translation. As Maria lingered by a clothier near Troyes' cathedral, Giovanni vanished from her side, and soon after, she was approached by a man in a tunic marked with a red cross.<ref name="ACPL - Maria Amiel" />

Though he admitted that the previous visitors, Ezio and [[Leonardo da Vinci]], had found nothing, he insisted that he knew there was something that still lay hidden within it. Trusting him, Maria agreed, and the two traveled together down into the catacombs.<ref name="ACPL - Maria Amiel" />

Giovanni was a very gracious and confident nobleman, who often spoke lightheartedly, and teased his friends. Despite his cheerful nature, he also had something of a temper, once shouting at and threatening Bombastus for not answering his questions.<ref name="ACPL - Maria Amiel" />

He was also quite serious in his work as an Assassin, often becoming withdrawn and moody when concentrating on his assignments. Though protective of his allies, he once assaulted Maria, merely out of the suspicion that she had been conspiring with the Templars.<ref name="ACPL - Maria Amiel" />

From an early age, Giovanni suffered several [[Bleeding Effect]]-like symptoms, likely as a result of being healed by the Shroud. He would often dream of the memories of Assassins past, including those of Perotto, and [[Marcus Junius Brutus]]. Because of these hallucinations, he once almost stabbed Cesare while sleepwalking, thinking himself to be Brutus, and his uncle to be [[Gaius Julius Caesar]]. For possibly the same reasons, throughout his childhood, Giovanni would speak to a mystical being called Consus, whom no one else could see. After meeting each other in 1527, Giovanni and Maria became inseparable, growing close over their travels to Paris and back to Basel. He protected her from brigands who once attempted to rob them, as well as Templars who attacked them as they fled Troyes.<ref name="ACPL - Maria Amiel" />

After Maria accidentally spoke with one of Giovanni's assassination targets in Troyes, he began to suspect her, holding a blade to her throat and demanding to know why she was conspiring with his enemy. Eventually, in 1503, Giovanni planned to leave his life of fear behind. After he received a letter from a courier pigeon, sent by an unknown individual, he was even more encouraged to do so. Making sure that he wasn't seen, he went to the meeting place by a fountain, and, as instructed, used his "[[Eagle Vision|other eyes]]" to recognize the individual from the crowd.<ref name="ACPL - Giovanni Borgia - Rome"/>

Giovanni followed the individual running across the rooftops, until he finally reached an alleyway, where he was abruptly halted by two thieves, who attempted to rob him. The individual leapt down from above and plunged his [[Hidden Blade]]s into both men, rescuing the boy. A rivalry developed between the two young Assassins; Giovanni often loosing his temper out of jealousy while Ezio tried to teach him patience and humility.

The rivality culminated during a mission to recover an Apple of Eden and stop a Templar plot that was lead by Hiram. During the mission, Stoddard witnessed something related to Consus and caused by his fellow Assassin, that deeply affected him and an provoked an intense hatred for Giovanni.

One year later, a darker Hiram was no longer following the Creed, obsessed with finding back the Apple that he recovered for the Brotherhood a year before in order to find "her". He was present during the preparations for this act, during which the Mentor [[Guillaume de Nogaret]] succeeded in convincing King [[Philip IV of France]] and [[Papacy|Pope]] [[Clement V]] to brand the Templars as heretics and arrest their [[Grand Master]], [[Jacques de Molay]]. De Carneillon didn't share the enthusiasm of his brothers, fearing that de Nogaret's plan wouldn't lead to the destruction of the Templars, but would only push them into clandestinity, similar to what the [[Mongol Empire]] had done to the Assassins, strengthening them in the end.

Nevertheless, Thomas provided King Philip with a contingent of Assassins disguised as Flemish [[mercenaries]], in order to attack the [[Paris]]ian [[Temple (Paris)|Temple]] in 1307. During the attack, de Carneillon attempted to steal the [[Swords of Eden|Sword of Eden]] and the ''[[Codex Pater Intellectus]]'', but his efforts were halted by a [[Jacques de Molay's advisor|Templar Knight]] serving as the Grand Master's advisor.

During their duel, the advisor managed to fight off Thomas and reclaim the Sword of Eden; Thomas attempted to retaliate but was blasted away by the power of the Sword. The advisor then managed to successfully hide the manuscript and the Sword in a secret vault, but was grievously disabled and killed by Thomas once he had regained consciousness.

===Later life===
Despite being unable to retrieve the manuscript and the Sword, Thomas' campaign successfully destroyed the Templars' public image and drove their Order underground. Along with the other Assassins, he subsequently spent a decade traveling throughout [[Europe]], eradicating any remnants of the Templar Order which operated openly. At some point, he became the new Mentor of the French Assassins and after decades of service in the Brotherhood died of illness in Venice.

In the centuries following his death, de Carneillon rose to a legendary status among the French Assassins. During the 16th century, a vault commemorating his accomplishments was constructed in the Parisian underground. The vault housed his [[Assassin's Creed: Unity outfits#Thomas de Carneillon's robes|robes]], an heirloom which was protected by puzzles and enigmas invented by [[Nostradamus]].

According to legend, the armor was destined to an Assassin who would perform a great service for France and the Brotherhood, but the three keys required to open the vault were lost two centuries prior to [[Arno Dorian]]'s discovery of the vault during the [[French Revolution]].

A few days later, their home – the [[Palazzo Auditore]] – was attacked by [[House of Pazzi|Pazzi]] [[guards]]. The guards arrested Giovanni, Federico and Petruccio, and left Maria in shock. Claudia and the Auditore housemaid [[Annetta]] took Maria and hid themselves in the Palazzo, until Ezio arrived to find their home ransacked. Following this, on her brother's request, Annetta took Claudia and Maria to her sister Paola's home, while Ezio went to the [[Palazzo della Signoria]] to find their father and brothers.<ref name="AC2"/>

Despite Ezio's efforts, Giovanni, Federico and Petruccio were executed on false accusations of treason by the Florentine Gonfaloniere [[Uberto Alberti]], working for [[Rodrigo Borgia]] – the [[Grand Master]] of the [[Templars|Templar Order]]. Claudia and Maria resided safely in Paola's home, which turned out to be a brothel, while Ezio exacted revenge on Uberto Alberti. This act would later become the stepping stone to Ezio's eventual induction into the Assassin Order, of which their father was secretly a member.<ref name="AC2"/>

After Ezio was successful in his objective, he took Claudia and Maria to travel to Monteriggioni with him, where their uncle Mario Auditore owned a villa.<ref name="AC2"/>

Successfully fleeing the city, they traveled through the Tuscan countryside, until they were ambushed by Ezio's rival, [[Vieri de' Pazzi]], near to Monteriggioni. Ezio, trying to fend off Vieri's men, was eventually joined by their uncle Mario and his [[mercenaries]], who rescued them and led them into the town. Showing them around the city, Ezio made clear to Claudia that they were only staying there temporarily, as he planned to travel with them further west to [[Spain]].<ref name="AC2"/>

Ezio was eventually persuaded by his uncle Mario to finish his father's work in the Assassin Order, and he decided to stay in the [[Villa Auditore]], to Claudia's displeasure. Some time later, Mario told Claudia to keep track off Monteriggioni's finances in a record book, which infuriated Claudia, who was used to a luxurious lifestyle. Over time, Claudia got used to her new job,<ref name="AC2"/> but missed Ezio while he was journeying around Italy to take down the Templars.<ref name="ACB">''[[Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood]]''</ref>

During Ezio's journey, he occasionally returned to Monteriggioni with finances for rebuilding the town, and with Claudia's organization skills, the town sprung back to life again and became more populated.<ref name="AC2"/> Claudia also married Mario's captain, and in 1488, she was pregnant with his child.<ref>''[[Assassin's Creed: Renaissance]]''</ref>

On 1 January 1500, Claudia's brother and uncle returned from their [[Confrontation in the Vatican|journey to Rome]] to kill Rodrigo Borgia, who had become [[Papacy|Pope]] Alexander VI. Upon reuniting with Ezio, Claudia asked him if the Spaniard, Rodrigo Borgia, was finally dead, though he declined to answer straight away.<ref name="ACB"/>

Coincidentally, the town was already preparing for Claudia's birthday the next day, though Claudia wished to keep the party a secret from her brother, in order to surprise him. Later the same day, Claudia joined Ezio, Maria, Mario, Niccolò Machiavelli, and [[Caterina Sforza]] in Mario's study, where Ezio told them about his choice to spare Rodrigo's life and his discovery in the [[Vatican Vault|Vault]] underneath the [[Vaticano District|Vatican]] – a projection of [[Minerva]], a member of the [[Isu|First Civilization]].<ref name="ACB"/>

The following morning, on Claudia's birthday, Monteriggioni was [[siege of Monteriggioni|besieged]] by the Borgia, under the command of Rodrigo's son Cesare, Captain General of the Papal army. Claudia secured her mother and several other villagers in the [[sanctuary]] underneath her villa, but was found and attacked by Borgia soldiers upon leaving the villa. She was saved by her heavily-wounded brother, who led the survivors through a secret passage underneath Monteriggioni. Upon arriving outside safely, Ezio informed Claudia and Maria that Cesare had killed Mario, and told them to go to Florence. However, they both wished to aid Ezio, so they secretly followed him to Rome, the heart of Borgia and Templar power.<ref name="ACB"/>

Claudia and Maria made their way to the [[Tiber Island headquarters|Assassin headquarters]] on [[Tiber Island]] in Rome, where they met with Niccolò. Niccolò suspected Ezio to be visiting the [[courtesans]] at the Rosa in Fiore, and redirected the women to the brothel.<ref name="ACB"/>

Conversing with the courtesans, Claudia and Maria were joined by Ezio, who had just came back from a failed attempt to save the brothel's owner, madonna [[Solari]], from [[Slavery|slave traders]]. Without anyone to lead the courtesans, Claudia offered to take over the ownership of the brothel, much to Ezio's dissatisfaction.<ref name="ACB"/>

On Maria's request, Ezio agreed, and Claudia and her courtesans started retrieving intelligence for the Assassin Order from the Borgia, beginning to attain information on the location of Caterina Sforza. Meeting with Ezio and the other guild leaders at the Assassin hideout with the necessary information, the Assassins decided that their next step was to assassinate Rodrigo and Cesare Borgia.<ref name="ACB"/>

Claudia continued to lead the courtesans for the coming years, and in 1503, she joined the Assassins at the hideout again, where she revealed that a senator named [[Egidio Troche]] was closely related with Cesare's "[[Juan Borgia the Elder|Banker]]". Claudia pointed Ezio in the senator's direction, and set her courtesans to follow Ezio when he went to assassinate the Banker, taking his money with them to the Rosa in Fiore.<ref name="ACB"/>

However, these courtesans were followed by Borgia guards, and they infiltrated the brothel. Determined to protect her girls, Claudia armed herself with a knife, single-handedly taking out all the guards, right before Ezio entered the brothel in the hopes of saving her. Ezio was amazed by Claudia's efforts, and in August 1503, he called Claudia to the hideout again.<ref name="ACB"/>

Entering the ceremony hall, Ezio inducted Claudia into the Assassin Order in the presence of the other Assassins, while Ezio himself was promoted to Mentor and leader of the Italian Assassins. Claudia proceeded to perform a [[Leap of Faith]] into the [[Tiber]] from the top of the hideout.<ref name="ACB"/>

Ezio infiltrated the [[Castel Sant'Angelo]] soon afterwards, aiming to kill Rodrigo and Cesare. To his astonishment, however, Ezio witnessed Cesare kill Rodrigo with a poisoned apple, and without his father's power in the Church, Cesare saw his control over Rome weakening immensely.<ref name="ACB"/> Shortly after, Claudia informed Ezio that a [[France|French]] cardinal, [[Georges d'Amboise]], revealed that he was to meet with Cesare soon, and Ezio left to interrupt the meeting.<ref name="ACB novel">[[Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (novel)|''Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood'' novel]]</ref> Subsequently, Claudia joined Ezio, Niccolò, [[La Volpe]] and [[Bartolomeo d'Alviano]] in defeating the last of Cesare's supporters, and witnessed his arrest at the hands of [[Fabio Orsini]] and the Papal Guard.<ref name="ACB"/>

The next year, Maria grew weak and started talking of Giovanni, Federico and Petruccio again, and some time later, she died due to illness. With this, Claudia was left in sole control of the courtesans, but in the same year, she was captured by a group of Borgia remnants, led by a Templar spy named [[Bruno]].<ref name="ACB novel"/>

Bruno pretended to work for Niccolò, and directed both him and Ezio to where Claudia was being held captive, saying it was a secret Templar hideout. Claudia, held by ropes, saw her clothes get ripped off by one of the Templars, until Ezio and Niccolò approached. Niccolò and Ezio were able to overcome the Borgia fanatics and rescue Claudia, but she eventually chose to resign as the ''Madame'' of the Rosa in Fiore. Claudia left for Florence, where she stayed with Paola to recover from the ferocious Templar attack. In response, La Volpe arranged for [[Rosa]], a [[Venice|Venetian]] [[Thieves|thief]], to take on her role as ''Madame''.<ref name="ACB novel"/>

Ezio continued to chase after Cesare, and eventually managed to kill the Templar Grand Master during the [[Siege of Viana]] in 1507. Returning to Rome from Spain, Ezio asked Machiavelli to send Claudia back to Rome as soon as he would reach Florence. Claudia returned to Rome some time later, having grown to love the city more than her home of Florence.<ref name="ACB novel"/>

Claudia continued to serve the Assassins, acting as an advisor to Ezio. In 1510, Ezio discovered a letter from their father, which detailed the location of the library of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, the Mentor of the [[Levantine Assassins]] and one of the most legendary Assassins of the Order. Though not showing the letter to Claudia, Ezio revealed that he aimed to travel to Masyaf in hopes of finding the library. Wishing Ezio luck on his journey and asking him to write to her occasionally, Claudia was temporarily left in control of the Italian Assassin Brotherhood.<ref name="ACR novel">[[Assassin's Creed: Revelations (novel)|''Assassin's Creed: Revelations'' novel]]</ref>

Occasionally, Claudia received [[Ezio Auditore's letters|letters]] from her brother detailing the progress of his journey, which eventually led him to [[Constantinople]]. He also revealed to her the feelings he was starting to have for a [[Venice|Venetian]] woman named [[Sofia Sartor]].<ref>''[[Assassin's Creed: Revelations]]''</ref>

In Ezio's absence, Claudia faced the problem of Pope [[Julius II]]'s declining health, which troubled the Assassins due to Julius having been their protector for numerous years. Additionally, she received a letter from [[Desiderius Erasmus]], a [[Netherlands|Dutch]] scholar and the leader of the [[Northern European Assassins]].<ref name="ACR novel"/>

In late 1512, Ezio returned to Rome with Sofia, who had become his wife after their marriage in Venice. Claudia revealed to him the good news of [[Leo X|Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici]], son of Ezio's late friend and ally [[Lorenzo de' Medici]], being close to the Papacy, and showed him Erasmus' letter.<ref name="ACR novel"/>

Additionally, Claudia congratulated Ezio on his marriage, approving of his wife, "even if she [was] a Venetian." Ezio, having decided to resign from the Order, revealed that he had chosen [[Lodovico Ariosto]] as his successor as Mentor. Claudia, pointing out Ariosto's relationship to Alfonso d'Este and his wife [[Lucrezia Borgia]], heavily protested against this, and was even more infuriated upon hearing of Ezio's desire to build his own vineyard and to start writing.<ref name="ACR novel"/>

===Later life===
Claudia eventually married again, Nidjel rosa and had 3 kids with him marco aliea ezio jr stayed with her new husband in Rome. Despite being angry at Ezio at first, Claudia came to enjoy her visits to Ezio and Sofia's villa in the Tuscan countryside, and grew to love her new niece and nephew, [[Flavia Auditore|Flavia]] and [[Marcello Auditore|Marcello]].<ref name="ACR novel"/>

Despite being 15 years older than Sofia, Claudia did not take up a motherly role to her sister-in-law and they became very close, with Sofia occasionally taking her children to visit Claudia in Rome.<ref name="ACR novel"/>

In her younger years, it was evident that Claudia had been too spoiled by Giovanni, and was unafraid to be violent when a girl merely "looked at her boyfriend". Due to her temper, Giovanni was forced to raise her dowry by 1,000 [[economic system|florins]], since she scared off all of her suitors. At times, she was also seen to be immature, complaining petulantly after Mario assigned her to manage Monteriggioni's finances.<ref name="AC2"/>

Regardless, Claudia was quite capable of handling and keeping track of the town's bankroll, as well as of her brother's purchases and earnings.<ref name="AC2"/> Her capability in business management again became useful when she volunteered – despite Ezio's initial protest – to take over the brothel in Rome. Under her leadership, the Rosa in Fiore became the most popular brothel in the city, as well as an effective intelligence-gathering arm for the Assassins.<ref name="ACB"/>

Claudia was also kind with her family, being especially emotional over her father and brothers' execution, her mother's emotional trauma, and leaving her home and her friends in Florence. Claudia was Ezio's only sister, and unlike her brothers, who were executed on the orders of Rodrigo Borgia to prove a point to the Assassins, she was spared, likely because of her gender.<ref name="AC2"/>

When she was in charge of the Rosa in Fiore, Claudia demonstrated a fondness for the girls in her employ and a willingness to defend them. When the Borgia attacked the brothel, Claudia defended it and single-handedly slew all of the attackers armed with only a dagger, an act that impressed even Ezio considerably.<ref name="ACB"/>
