Following the fall of the pirate republic of [[Nassau]], Thatch felt his pirating days were over, and retired to North Carolina. He was soon tracked down to a local beach by former associates Edward Kenway and [[Charles Vane]], who both failed to convince him to return to the West Indies.<br />

Later that evening, English pirate hunters stormed his beach with a Man O' War.
