There is greater emphasis on stealth. In some missions (lots of it even) you have to tail someone or stay undetected. Stealth is also kinda fun in AC4 since you can use blowpipe or kill from bushes and such. You can even you stealth while sailing the ship. It's real fun to sail from behind to galeon and suprise them with cannon barrage :) Notoriety is removed so you can use stealth more effectivly in towns and finally i can roam without some random soldier detecting me from distance. But as the devs said that they reward steath because combat is more deadly, it's a lie. Combat is easy and if not for that you have to stay undeteted in missions you could just waltz in and kill everyone. One time i was borading ship and needed to take down 20 enemies and a flag, got carried away before getting to flag and killed at least 40 enemies without even losing a little health. When you get templar armor it's even more easier. Sometimes i feel Edward is some pirate god of war :D Game is overall more easier than others. Still got a lot of fun in this one espacially in some later missions when you feel like assasin.

A few thoughts about AC4. I got mixed feelings about story. It's a good game yes but it don't feels like AC game. All the conflict about templars vs assasins is in the background and for almost 80% of game Edward is not even an assasin. Game could be called pirates of the caribbean if you just dump modern time story. For most of the time you just have pirate missions, boarding ship, sailing, looking for treasure and such. All this observatory thing comes so late in game. Edward is fine here but not so good as Ezio. Still better than connor. At least he is not dumb or naive. Gameplay is good but combat is so easy and less fluid and engaging than other games. After playing for and starting to replay revelation i feel like i play hardcore mode in revelation. No dodges, no blocking onli you need to push 1 or 2 buttons and countering is so easy you don't even need timing just spam B when u get big icon above enemy head. AC4 is better than AC3 (which is worst AC game so far) but not so good as AC2 or Brotherhood imho. And only real unxpected moment is when juno appeared in modern time mission.
