The '''Russian Academy of Sciences''' consists of the national academy of [[Russia]], a network of scientific research institutes from across the Russian Federation, and additional scientific and social units such as libraries, publishing units and hospitals.

In December 1917, [[Sergey Federovich Oldenburg]], a leading ethnographer and activist in the {{Wiki|Kadet}} party, met with [[Vladimir Lenin]] and agreed that the Academy should work with the Soviet Regime. Both men were sympathetic to the [[Assassins|Assassin Brotherhood]], and gave the Assassins access to several of the Academy's facilities. By 1928, Lenin had passed away and [[Joseph Stalin]] was leading the Soviet Union. The {{Wiki|Politburo}}, under influence of the [[Templars]], started interfering in the affairs of the Academy. The '''mother''' of [[Galina Voronina]] (unknown – 20 March 2014) was a member of the [[Assassins|Assassin Order]], working as a scientist in a cell located in an old Assassin laboratory in [[Protvino]] outside of [[Moscow]].

==Biography==
In 1977, while stealing animals from the Moscow zoo to use for testing, she witnessed a man being chased by [[Templars|Templar]] footsoldiers and decided to intervene. After having killed the men, she was surprised to find their quarry had been an [[United States|American]] Assassin called [[William Miles|William]]. As thanks, William gave her blueprints of the [[Animus]], which he had stolen from [[Abstergo Industries]], and asked her to construct the device before the Templars could. He then had her promise to keep him informed about their progress.<ref name="ACI ABA">''[[Assassin's Creed: Initiates]]'' – Modern Times: "A Brash American"</ref>

As William made to leave, she asked him how she would be able to contact him. William responded by revealing he was to meet another Assassin cell within the city, surprising Galina's mother, who had been unaware of this. He then assured her he would know when she needed to find him, claiming he had "eyes and ears everywhere", before departing.<ref name="ACI ABA"/>

She subsequently built her own [[Animus]] in the laboratory, and began suffering from the [[Bleeding Effect]] after prolonged exposure, eventually claiming to talk to "[[Eve]]" during her Animus sessions. In 1865, Nicholas suddenly died, and Alexander was made heir. Before his death, Nicholas desired for Alexander to marry his bride, Princess {{Wiki|Maria Feodorovna (Dagmar of Denmark)|Dagmar of Denmark}}. On 9 November 1866, Alexander wed Dagmar, forming a happy marriage.<ref name="Wikipedia"/>

Alexander was then forced to study the principles of law and administration under {{Wiki|Konstantin Pobedonostsev|Konstantin Pobedonostsev}}. He came to realize that Alexander had little interest in abstract or intellectual studies, but did manage to make Alexander believe that Russian Orthodox thought was essential for Russian patriotism, and for every Tsar.<ref name="Wikipedia"/>

In 1888, Alexander and his family traveled from Crimea to Saint Petersburg on a high speed train. As the train would pass through open countryside, the Assassin Order saw this as an opportune time to strike, though they were under the impression that Alexander was traveling alone.<ref name="TF"/>

As the [[Mentor]]'s personal request, the Assassin [[Nikolai Orelov]] was sent to strike Alexander aboard the train. After catching up to the train on [[Horses|horseback]], he leapt aboard and quietly infiltrated a cabin.<ref name="TF"/>

After silently dispatching the guards, Nikolai drew his [[Firearms|rifle]] and entered the dining car, where Alexander supposedly was, but found only the Tsar's family. Alexander sneaked up from behind the Assassin and attacked him.<ref name="TF"/>

A fight between the two started, with the physically imposing Tsar holding a significant advantage over the younger Nikolai. The Assassin only managed to inflict a minor wound to Alexander's abdomen,<ref name="TF"/> though this light injury would later result in the kidney failure that caused Alexander's death.<ref name="Wikipedia"/>

As a result of the struggle, the [[Borki train disaster|train derailed from the tracks]]. After the crash tore apart many of the trains cars, Alexander struggled to hold the remains on his shoulders, in order to allow his children to escape.<ref name="TF"/>

While doing so, he noticed Nikolai lying a few yards away from him and attacked the Assassin. While Nikolai was recovering from the attacks, Alexander carried a box out of the rubble and opened it, revealing the Staff of Eden. He asked the Assassin whether the artifact was what he was looking for, and tauntingly threw it into Nikolai's hands, daring the Assassin to attack him with it.<ref name="TF"/>

Alexander was faster with his attack, but suffered a blow to the head with the Staff nonetheless. He managed to disarm the Assassin and punched him to the ground, who in turn showed his Hidden Blade, ready to attack. Alexander pinned the other's blade arm with his foot, and readied to kill the Assassin with the Staff, when the Imperial guard called out for him, saying that his family awaited him.<ref name="TF"/>

Alexander spared Nikolai's life, to avoid having his children witness the death, and so the Assassin could report his failure.<ref name="TF"/> Alexander and his family returned to Saint Petersburg by carriage, continuing on to Kazan Cathedral, where their survival was celebrated; so much so that university students wanted to unharness the carriage and pull it by hand.<ref name="Wikipedia"/>

===Later life===
Following his altercation with Nikolai Orelov,<ref name="TF"/> Alexander developed {{Wiki|nephritis}}, or an inflammation of the kidney. This ultimately led to his death on 1 November 1894, in {{Wiki|Livadia Palace}}.<ref name="Wikipedia"/>

Afterwards, Alexander's remains were interred at the Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint Petersburg, and his eldest son [[Nicholas II of Russia|Nicholas II]] succeeded him.<ref name="Wikipedia"/>

Personality-wise, Alexander was very different from his soft-hearted, liberal father. He was more straightforward and direct in his expressions, and moved roughly and sluggishly, in accordance with his immense physical strength.<ref name="Wikipedia"/>

Alexander strongly believed in centralized power, and ambitiously strove to transform the Russian Empire into a "new Eden" under the Romanov's autocratic rule. He would constantly repress the emergence of popularist movements, and emphasize the authority of the imperial family.<ref name="Encyclopedia"/>

To the Assassin Order, Alexander's rule would unnecessarily strengthen the Russian autocracy, instead of balance it, as they had hoped.<ref name="TF"/> He remained a constant threat to them throughout his reign, and many of the Order's attempts at political reform failed during his time.<ref name="Encyclopedia"/> As a target, however, they acknowledged Alexander to be a "formidable man."<ref name="TF"/>

==History==
During the Colonial era, {{Wiki|Lewis Hutchinson}} immigrated to the island and bought [[Edinburgh Castle]] in 1768. From 1770 until his arrest in 1773, Hutchinson resided in the castle, killing and robbing all of the people who wandered into his home.

Sometime in 1776, the [[Assassins|Assassin]] [[Ratonhnhaké:ton|Connor]] travelled to the island and infiltrated Edinburgh Castle. There, he searched through the castle, eventually collecting a piece of a map to Captain [[William Kidd]]'s [[Shards of Eden|hidden treasure]].
