do you think when Subject 16 said "...find me in the darkness" at the end of the truth maze in Brotherhood, was he referring to the black room? If so then he could appear in Revelations and help Desmond break out of his coma.
:I agree with the unsigned person above. :) Maybe somehow Subject 16 got his hands on a Phaistos disc and copied his memories into the Animus database in an area that the Templars cannot access--the Black Room. Then we'll find out what all of these glyphs and puzzles and TWCB mean and then AC 3 will be off the hook. Strang3Happ3nings 22:50, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Why do you keep referring to the Phaistos DIsc? It is an important archaeological artifact but it's never been connected to the series in anyway, it's best to drop it. It's doubtful it was ever that important anyways, judging by the somewhat clumsy craftsmanship and it's being found in a casual location within it's discovery town.

Ezio Again?
Alright, I was really excitied when this game was leaked but when I heard that it envolved Ezio again I was a little disappointed. Sure, Ezio is a classic character who starts in nobility, loses nearly everything he cares about throughout his life and becomes this fantastic hero, but how long does Ubisoft plan to use him in their games? This is the third main appearence(I'm not counting the DS games) already and I feel that this is getting a little repetitive. Does anybody else feel that way? Don't get me wrong, I love this series and I'll def love this game too but its just the reoccuring appearence of Ezio that has me concerned. I'd like to hear anybody's thoughts about this. Parant22 01:22, May 6, 2011 (UTC)
Not really disappoints me because it's happening in Constantinople and you get to use the three characters. Ezio will find seals which had Altairs memory on it. I think that the Black Room will contain Desmond's repressed memories. Also, I think they will be about Subject Sixteen and they're relationship. Maybe they are realated, considering Ezio Auditore Da Firenze is a common ancestor between the two. Possibly, they met while Desmond was still at the Farm, and Desmond doesn't know it was him. Maybe William M. is Subject 16 and his brother, beacuse William M. is also Bill Miles, Bill being a nickname for William and M. stands for Miles. Possibly they feel it is better for Desmond to stay in the dark. Just some thoughts. xV DEaD ShOT xV 23:56, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
These seals hold the memories of Alair. They'll allow Ezio to peek into Altair's life (just as Desmond uses Animus to peek into his ancestors lives).<br />- You'll control Altair through these sequences.<br />- The bulk of the game is set in Constantinople which will be split into 4 huge districts (Constantin, Beyazid, Imperial and Galata)<br />- You'll also visit Cappadocia<br />- Ezio is over 50 years old in this game<br />- Ezio has a new item called the hookblade which allows him to use ziplines throughout the city. UBI says that it speeds up navigation by about 30%<br />- You can also use the hookblade to reach out and pull enemies in for a combo<br />- Ezio can now make bombs through a crafting system. UBI says that there are over 300 bomb types<br />- They've modified the control scheme so that circle/B will control the hookblade and triangle/Y will control project weapons and bombs<br />- Eagles vision has become eagle sense. "Eagle sense let's you focus on a character and see where he's been," Amancio says. "You'll get an approximation of where he will go. If you're able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush."<br />- They've expanded on the Borgia Towers concept in order to create a new system. Throughout the city there are Assassin's Den's, you'll need to complete various assault scenarios in order take down the Templar presence (UBI says that there's more variety than in the Borgia Towers). Once you obtain a den you'll be able to upgrade the buildings in that region along with adding ziplines across the rooftops. You'll also be able to change the guards from being hostile to neutral.<br />- You can lose control of you dens as you gain notoriety. You'll be able to send your own troops after the templars if you're unable to make it back to the specific den that's being attacked. You can do that by making it to any of the other dens that you currently control. You'll also be able to install a master assassin to control a specific den and you'll never have to worry about it being taken over.<br />- The assassin leveling mechanic has been increased from 10 to 15<br />- In order to make the world more immersive they've done away with traditional side missions in favor of random events. For example you may be traveling through a city and notice a shop owner being robbed or a little girl asking for help<br />- They're using a new type of capture facial technology called Mocam that GI describes as an "intriguing amalgamation of traditional animation, performance capture and the fascinating new style of performance on display in games like LA Noire."<br />- Desmond is placed back inside Animus where he finds a safe mode called the 'Black Room'. You'll be able to access Desmond's lost memories through that back door<br />- The gameplay during Desmond's game is described as narrative-fueled puzzle sequences. "Through the manipulation and creation of geometry with the game world, Desmond seeks to reintegrate the splintered layers of his subconscious."<br />- Multiplayer is returning but this time they're trying to give more focus to the narrative since that's a big part of AC<br />- You'll be able to custom your character appearance and weapons as well as create guilds.</p>
I'm a little confused to this, and it may not be a big deal. But why even begin to use these words when throughout the entire Assassin's Creed universe, they blatantly say that there are no souls, no such thing as spirits, or the afterlife or God et al. I try not to be distracted by stuff like this, as I enjoy the games. But it seems a bit contradictory to be tossing the terms around, when throughout the series they say it doesn't exist. Maybe it's a figurative thing, something along the lines of using figures of speech and such. Sorry if this is spamming or anything. Sorry, I'm not sure if this is worth mentioning as of yet, but seeing as how many pages are being created having to do with Revelations, shouldn't there be a main thing at the bottom like all the other games have...such as characters, locations, weapons to link everything together. I mean Lost Legacy has one and there hasn't been a single bit of info on that game other than "Ezio goes to Masyaf." I'm not sure how long it takes to create one of those and link everything together. By all means, take your time. I'm just saying I visit this site quite often and when I can't find any new news on the "Recently Updated" portion of the page, I feel kinda left out. Please don't be angry. Also, I couldn't really think of a better subject title.

Revelations..!
It's the main article in Game Informer, if anyone got the latest edition of the magazine. I'm wondering how it's going to turn out- Brotherhood could have been a major GOTY competitor, but there's so many little flaws with it- assassinating some civilian instead of the big scary dude who you wanted to kill who's next to them, retarded civilians, retarded-er horses (and their riders), the fact that half the time it's too easy, and the linearity of it were things that made it so much worse than it should have been. Apparently the main new gameplay elements are "bombs" which help out in gameplay massively- things like "flashbangs", smoke grenades, grenades which launch Caltrops (for those unsure of what they are), and more.

The hooks look interesting, and the magazine shows some uses of them- one screenshot shows Ezio using them as a zipline (which I'll elaborate on in a bit) and another shows him stabbing a guard under the chin with one. The controls are a bit revamped, with B/Circle being used to control the hookblade and Y/triangle controlling the bombs (not sure exactly how this works).

As far as ziplines, the borgia towers of Brotherhood are being replaced by dens. Dens are spread throughout the city and you complete various objectives to take them over (apparently not just killing the leader). From the dens, you can send recruits out among the Mediterranian and adjust the world, creating ziplines on roofs and causing guards to lean on fences and become neutral instead of being aggressive towards you. It plays out sort of like chess the magazine said, with the dens being able to be retaken by the Templars, and your recruits can be increased to level 15. I'm not going to elaborate on this whole section too much as it's changed a whole lot and I just glanced over it.

As far as story, the main characters are the main antagonist, Manuel Palaeologos, who has "intimate ties with the templars". Your main ally and rival will be with Yusuf Tazim, who's going to act as a sort of Machiavelli character but probably less irritable. He's the main assassin in Constatinople/Istanbul. Apparently the ruler of Constatinople will be a certain prince Ahmet, who is the uncle of Suleiman[/url], who is a young man but learns from Ezio. Finally, Ezio's getting a lover with Sofia Sorto who he's reluctant to tell of who he really is. She's based on an Italian painting.

For story, Ezio goes to Masyaf where he finds it overrun by Templars. There's a major secret hidden in Masyaf that could be the end of the assassins. However, it can only be captured through the use of five ancient seals, one of which the templars have already found. So Ezio must find the other four first, along with recapturing the one the Templars have. While traveling as Ezio you'll encounter these flashback sections which will allow you to play as Altair (Inception, anyone?). He figures out the life of Altair through these seals which tell of his life. Speaking of which, Desmond has apparently been saved by Assassins, it has been confirmed. Desmond finds a back room in the Animus where he's now trapped. This world is apparently sort of "surreal", meaning abstract puzzles where he pieces together memories of his past. In other words, portions of his memory will be merged with his imagination. I think. Oh, and did I mention that Ezio's old now?

Constatinople is bigger than Rome and more dense- in other words, no more blank space like in the Antico district. It's also set on a hill, like real constatinople. On top of this, there's a massive, layered underground city controlled by Templars (I'm guessing where there seal is hidden) called Cappadocia. The city's being separated into four districts (most likely one for each seal). These districts are Beyazid, which is apparently an old, historic section. The Constantin section is the poor section with wooden buildings acting as a big slum which is more difficult to freerun in. Think the favelas of Brazil, but wooden and with ancient ruins scattered about. The Galata district is cosmopolitan, with various architectural styles varying from Asian to Greek influences, from Italian to Ottoman. I couldn't find anything on the last, Imperial district, but it appears more open than the other districts from the picture.

Now, the multiplayer is going to follow the same style of brotherhood, but with more customization, better menus and matchmaking, and more focus on story. Rhodes was confirmed as a location for several maps, and that's all it really said. Finally, as a few miscellaneous details, they're using a version of LA Noire's face capture called "Mocam" which allows them to record the movements of someone's face, then plant it onto another face. In other words, a woman could be the actor, but she could be acting just as much for Ezio as she could Altair or Caterina Sforza.

Major wall of text, but quite a bit of info on Revelations in there.
Just my opinion. But I think you better start a blog or something on this, otherwise you might get in a large conversation, that is irrelevant to the actual game. -- Altaïr 01:34, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Marcus Junius Brutus (early June 85 BC – late October 42 BC), often referred to simply as Brutus, was a politician of the late Roman Republic and a member of the Assassin Order. He took a leading role in the assassination conspiracy against the dictator Julius Caesar.

Biography
Early life
Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger was the son of Marcus Junius Brutus the Elder and Servilia Caepionis. His father was killed by Pompey the Great in dubious circumstances after he had taken part in the rebellion of Lepidus; his mother was the half-sister of Cato the Younger, and later became Julius Caesar's mistress. Some sources refer to the possibility of Caesar being his real father. Brutus' uncle, Quintus Servilius Caepio adopted him in about 59 BC, and Brutus was known officially for a time as Quintus Servilius Caepio Brutus before he reverted to using his birth-name. However, following Caesar's assassination in 44 BC, Brutus revived his adoptive name in order to illustrate his links to another famous tyrannicide, Servilius Ahala, from whom he was descended. He was, at some point, inducted into the Assassin Order.

Brutus held his uncle in high regard and his political career started when he became an assistant to Cato, during his governorship of Cyprus. During this time, he enriched himself by lending money at high rates of interest. He returned to Rome a rich man, where he married Claudia Pulchra. From his first appearance in the Senate, Brutus aligned with the Optimates (the conservative faction) against the First Triumvirate of Marcus Licinius Crassus, Pompey Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus and Gaius Julius Caesar. Around 45 BC, many senators began to fear Caesar's growing power following his appointment as dictator for life. Additionally, the Assassins discovered that the SPQR was secretly a Templar organization. Brutus was appointed to devise the conspiracy against Caesar by the other Assassins.

Assassination of Julius Caesar
At some point, Brutus discovered and explored the vault hidden beneath what would eventually become Santa Maria Aracoeli. He chose the temple concealing the entrance to the vault as a meeting place for the conspirators, and would include a drawing of the chamber itself within his scrolls. Inside the chamber, he was enlightened with visions of what would happen after Caesar's assassination.

Encouraged by these visions, Brutus devised the plan for the assassination. His wife was the only woman privy to the plot. The conspirators planned to carry out their plot on the Ides of March (March 15) that same year. On that day, Caesar was delayed going to the Senate because his wife, Calpurnia Pisonis, tried to convince him not to go. The Assassins feared the plot had been found out. Brutus persisted, however, waiting for Caesar at the Senate, and allegedly still chose to remain even when a messenger brought him news that would otherwise have caused him to leave. When Caesar finally did come to the Senate, they attacked him. Publius Servilius Casca Longus was allegedly the first to attack Caesar with a blow to the shoulder, which Caesar blocked. However, upon seeing Brutus was with the Assassins, he covered his face with his toga and resigned himself to his fate. The Assassins attacked in such numbers that they even wounded one another. Brutus is said to have been wounded in the hand.

Following the assassination, he returned to the temple where the Assassins held their meetings and left his heirloom armor and dagger there, to be found by the next person to stumble across it.

Death
After the assassination, the Senate passed an amnesty on the Assassins. This amnesty was proposed by Caesar's friend and co-consul Marcus Antonius. Nonetheless, uproar among the population caused Brutus and the other Assassins to leave Rome. Brutus settled in Crete from 44 to 42 BC, but was later defeated in battle and upon fleeing, committed suicide. His last words were "By all means must we fly; not with our feet, however, but with our hands." Brutus also uttered the well-known verse calling down a curse upon Antonius (Plutarch repeats this from the memoirs of Publius Volumnius): "Forget not, Zeus, the author of these crimes."

After Brutus' death, his followers tried to use the Shroud to bring him back. Brutus returned to life for a very brief moment, before inevitably dying once again. The attempt failed because the Shroud can reanimate a body, but it cannot recreate life.

Some time prior to 1500 AD, the Followers of Romulus discovered the temple, and found the armor and dagger within. They took the artifacts, hiding them in a chamber in the tunnels beneath Colle Palatino. The chamber was to only be opened with six keys, spread across various landmarks throughout Rome, hidden in some of the scrolls that Brutus had written concerning his involvement in the conspiracy to kill Caesar. In 1503, the then-Grand Master of the Assassin Order Ezio Auditore da Firenze managed to obtain all six keys and retrieved the armor from its chamber.

Trivia
*In 1503, Giovanni Borgia relived some of Brutus' memories just like with his father Perotto Calderon's memories, indicating that Perotto and Giovanni may be Brutus' descendants. It is also possible that Giovanni experienced Brutus' memories because the Shroud was used both in an attempt to resurrect Brutus and also saved Giovanni's life.
*Oddly enough, Dante Alighieri wrote in Inferno, the first part of The Divine Comedy, that Brutus, along with Gaius Cassius Longinus, were condemned to the the 9th Circle because of their act against Julius Caesar, despite the fact that Dante was also a member of the Assassin Order.

The Crystal Skulls are Pieces of Eden created by Those Who Came Before. They were scattered throughout Central America, mainly coming into the possession of Aztec and Mayan tribes.

In 1520, one Skull was located by Giovanni Borgia, an Assassin who had been sent to become a member of Hernán Cortés' crew in order to search for Pieces of Eden. He managed to intercept one from an Aztec priest in Tenochtitlan, where it was being used as part of a human sacrifice ritual. Upon returning to Europe, he took it to Bombastus, who was an expert in studying the Pieces of Eden.

After having studied the skull over the years, an unknown Chinese man used the skull's communicative powers to contact and warn Giovanni in 1542.

Trivia
*Though not named explicitly, several of the Skulls presumably came into possession of Abstergo, as Alan Rikkin notes in an email to Warren Vidic that the Mitchell-Hedges Communicators worked. Hence, it is assumed that the power of the Crystall Skulls had been used as a form of communication that modern-day Assassins would be unable to trace.

*Myths about the Crystal Skulls containing vast amounts of knowledge may be explained by the fact that they are Pieces of Eden.
*Interestingly, a Chinese man seems to have possession of another Skull in 1542. In Assassin's Creed, one of the messages on Desmond's wall (left by Subject 16) refers to Emperor Jianjing, a Chinese emperor who sought mysterious relics, and was nearly assassinated in 1542. The same message also refers to Quetzlcoatl, an Aztec god. At least one Skull was kept by Aztecs, and one kept by a Chinese man in the time of Jianjing. The message probably refers to the Skulls in that sense.<br /><br />
The Pieces of Eden (also known as PE or P.O.E.) were technologically advanced pieces of equipment created by the First Civilization; each possessed unique properties, and all were known to be capable of bending the thoughts of one or more individuals to the will of the user.

History
Those Who Came Before, also known as the First Civilization, were an ancient yet advanced race of beings that lived on Earth long before humanity. The creators of the Human race, the First Civilization had used the Pieces of Eden to control their slaves through hypnotic trances. Whether humanity was created to be susceptible to the effects of the Pieces of Eden, or if the Pieces were created after humanity remains unknown; Minerva attributed the peace between humanity and their "gods" to the effects of the Pieces of Eden.

Eventually however, two humans, Adam and Eve became immune to the hypnotic effects of the Pieces of Eden, and stole one of the Pieces – the Apple of Eden – from their masters. Soon after a war broke out, pitting humanity against their gods. Despite their strength in technology, the Pieces of Eden failed to protect the creators from the slaves, who heavily outnumbered the masters. The war ended catastrophically for both sides, and both humanity and their gods were forced to work together to rebuild their world. Eventually though, the gods became extinct, and their Pieces of Eden were lost to the annals of history.

Over the centuries, the Pieces of Eden resurfaced; seen as religious artifacts or holy relics, the foremost among them being the Apple of Eden. However, as time continued, groups of individuals began to see the Pieces of Eden for what they truly were, advanced technologies to be exploited. As early as the 12th Century, the Templars were actively seeking and obtaining numerous Pieces of Eden, in the hopes of uniting the world in peace much like Those Who Came Before had done, and in 1191, they sought the Apple itself.

Led by the Grand Master of the Order, the Templars used the cover of the Third Crusade to infiltrate the catacombs of Solomon's Temple, in the city of Jerusalem, where they knew the Apple was located. Unfortunately for them, Al Mualim, leader of the Order of Assassins and secretly also, a Templar, had sent his best to capture the device. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and the brothers A-Sayf intercepted the Templars, and despite the death of Kadar and Altaïr being thrown from the battle early on, the Assassins prevailed and spirited the Apple to their fortress in Masyaf. For a year the Assassins and Templars fought one another for control of the artifact, until finally the deaths of both Robert de Sable and Al Mualim at the hands of Altaïr ended the conflict. Originally intending to destroy the Apple, Altaïr found himself unable to do so, and instead decided to seal the Apple in the Limassol Archives after he had liberated it from the Templars; circumstances worked against this however, and he decided to keep the Apple himself, lest it fall into the wrong hands. Ultimately, the Apple did find its way to Cyprus, where it was buried away until its discovery and exhumation by the Templars in 1488. The Apple was shipped to Venice, but Ezio Auditore da Firenze managed to procure it before it could go into Templar hands. However, during the events of Battle of Forlì, the Apple was taken from Ezio by Savonarola, and Savonarola used it to cause the Bonfire of Vanities in Florence.

In 1499, Ezio used the Apple, combined with the power of the Papal Staff (also a Piece of Eden) to open up the Vault underneath the Vatican. However, shortly afterward , during the Siege of Monteriggioni, Cesare Borgia took the Apple from Mario Auditore. In 1503, after liberating Rome, Ezio took back the Apple hidden in St. Peter's Basilica. After figuring out the power of the Apple, Ezio hid it in a Temple underneath the Colosseum.

Centuries later, whilst hacking into the Animus, the mysterious Subject 16, discovered that throughout history, the Pieces of Eden had an extensive history of changing hands, with historically notable figures, many Templars or Assassins, laying claim to them; Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, Mahatma Gandhi, Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Tsar Nicholas II, Winston Churchill and Adolf Hitler to name but a few. By 2012 however, many had fallen into the hands of the Templars; seeking to obtain the rest, the Animus project was set up with the intention of locating and securing the remaining Pieces of Eden.
This Animus project was also an important component in the Templars goal of ensuring world peace, through use of the Pieces of Eden. By using the Pieces of Eden, the Templars sought to manipulate the neuro-transmitters in the entire human race to achieve their goal. Eye-Abstergo, a branch of Abstergo Industries, planned to launch an "all-in-one telecommunication" satellite into orbit around the Earth; unbeknownst to humanity and indeed, many employees of Abstergo Industries, the satellite would contain at least one Piece of Eden, and spread its power out on a global scale.

In 2012, the modern-day Assassins, Desmond Miles, Lucy Stillman, Shaun Hastings, and Rebecca Crane use the Animus to locate the Piece of Eden hidden by Ezio Auditore beneath the Santa Maria Aracoeli 1507.
{{Quote|This&hellip; piece of silver cast out Adam and Eve. It turned staves into snakes. Parted and closed the Red Sea.

Amongst the greatest tools known to man; by interacting with a neuro-transmitter located deep in the brain of the human body, the Apples of Eden could control the human mind. Other Pieces of Eden were capable of warping reality, creating illusions and ensuring total obedience; both the Templars and the Order of Assassins believed that the Pieces of Eden were the sources of many historical tales and miracles, such as the Parting of the Red Sea, the Trojan Horse, and the miracles enacted by "the Christ-figure" who foreshadowed the Christian faith, and the Biblical plagues that ravaged Egypt, among other supernatural happenings.

Some were known to interact with and change the passage of time, possibly creating paradoxes; these potential outcomes were deemed too risky by Abstergo, deciding that these Pieces should be sealed away for the time being. Some Pieces of Eden were also able to "speak" to those who wielded them, as was the case with Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Perotto Calderon who spoke with the sixth Apple and the Shroud respectively.

The Pieces of Eden, or at the very least the Apples, were capable of extending a pulse of energy when activated, that would drive those targeted to insanity and death, or force other to fight each other to near death. Doing so however, had a detrimental effect on the physical health of the wielder. Using the Pieces' powers in short bursts, however, could minimize the negative effects dealt out by the artifacts; though to what extent, is unknown.

Following the destruction of the second Piece of Eden during experimental use at Denver International Airport, the Templars found themselves in need of another artifact with similar properties. Needing access to a map that indicated the location of all Pieces of Eden, the Templar front company Abstergo Industries kidnapped the descendant of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad &ndash; Desmond Miles &ndash; in order to view the memories of his ancestor. This would allow them to view the very same map Altaïr had viewed in 1191.

Each of the Pieces of Eden contained a great deal of energy stored within, and the destruction of one would cause an explosion on the same scale of a nuclear blast. One such blast occurred in 1908, in the region of Tunguska, Russia, when the Piece of Eden known as "the Staff" was seemingly destroyed by Nikolai Orelov as a strike against the Templars. Even destroyed, the Pieces of Eden were still capable of great feats. Following the destruction of the Staff, at least one shard remained and, despite the obliteration of every other remnant of the artifact, still possessed impressive powers of mind control, as demonstrated by Grigori Rasputin, who in the possession of the shard, managed to force the attraction of Alexandra Feodorovna, the consort of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia.

Although the First Civilization created humanity with a neuro-transmitter that forced them to accept the will of the Pieces of Eden, eventual cross-breeding between the gods and their slaves bore a hybrid species. These new humans possessed some of the natural abilities of their gods, but most notably, were free of the neuro-transmitter that bound them to the will of the Pieces of Eden. The first two known individuals to be born immune to the effects of the Pieces were Adam and Eve, who later stole the Apple of Eden and precipitated the war that followed. Members of the lineage also inherited these natural abilities and immunity to the mind-control of the Pieces, although the Pieces' ability to physically control them remained. Individuals such as Altaïr and his descendants Ezio Auditore, Subject 16 and Desmond Miles all possessed these enhanced abilities, and presumably, an immunity to the Pieces of Eden.

By the early 21st Century, the Templars were aware of both the existence of Those Who Came Before and the fact that some humans were immune to the mind control of the Apples of Eden, and as such actively sought other devices to compensate for this. On at least one occasion Dr. Warren Vidic, an employee of Abstergo Industries, recieved an email from an unknown individual who had not been affected by the powers of the Apple, and threatened to expose what he had seen.

Confirmed Pieces of Eden
Besides the Apples of Eden, the First Civilization created many more Pieces of Eden. Some of these affected humanity in similar ways, whilst others affected nature and even time itself. The first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth Apple were all capable of controlling the minds of men, creating illusions and, to a degree, permited physical control over said minds; the Apples could all be used in conjunction with the Staff of Eden, which increased the abilities of both Pieces. Other Pieces included the Shroud, which would become famous to modern day humans as the "Shroud of Turin" &ndash; that which covered the body of Jesus Christ, it's properties including the ability to heal the wounds of those it touched, and the Sword, a Piece that would pass through the hands of many great rulers through the centuries, including King Arthur and Alexander the Great. The Crystal Skulls were also Pieces of Eden and these would be scattered throughout central America, one of which would later be taken to Europe by Giovanni Borgia.

According to e-mails read by Desmond Miles, at least one Piece of Eden existed that granted the ability to manipulate time. Concerns over possible paradoxes however, lead to Abstergo Industries locking it away.

Known locations of Pieces of Eden
Following the death of Al Mualim and the Apples projection of a map indicating the location of all Pieces of Eden, Altaïr copied the map and included it in his Codex, hidden away so that only one of his bloodline might see it. Based off of the locations given on the Codex map, the following locations can be identified as containing a Piece of Eden;
Trivia
*According to the glyphs and Truth files, many legends and myths throughout human history are actually historically accurate. The supernatural or paranormal parts of each legend can be explained by the protagonist in each having acquired his or her own Piece of Eden (i.e.: the Greek myth of Perseus, King Arthur, etc).
*In Assassin's Creed II, during the battle against Borgia in the&nbsp;Sistine Chapel, Ezio creates copies of himself, much like Al Mualim did against Altaïr. If Ezio robes are customized, or if Altaïr's Armor is enabled, his copies will appear with different sets of armor and colors whereas when if he is not customized, each copy will be perfectly identical to the real Ezio, besides his weapon.
*Both the Codex map, and the Map projection at the end of Assassin's Creed show that there are only fifty Pieces of Eden at a time, but Subject 16 says the Shroud is Piece of Eden 'number 66'. This discrepancy has yet to be rectified.
**In the French and German version of Assassin's Creed II, the Shroud is referred to as number 36, not 66. Whether this is a mistake in the translation or not, remains to be clarified.
*The Chalice was initially thought to be a Piece of Eden; however, besides the Shroud, all other artifacts linked to the Christ-figure were confirmed to be only literary tools, as stated in Assassin's Creed I.

What if the sword of Altair in AC2 is the sword of eden. Genghis Khan had the sword but then Altair's son shot his horse which killed him. Would they then not take this piece of eden? that may be why the sword looks different in the second game compared to the first, because its a different sword altogether. The only flaw that i see in this is that the codex never mentioned the sword being in his possession and the fact that Ezio would probably know if he had two pieces of eden rather than just one.
I don't believe that there's any evidence that Ghengis Khan had the Sword. Altair suspected he had a Piece of Eden, but he didn't say which one. Sounds like speculation to me. 98.192.42.30 02:32, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
If you look at the image posted on the article, the second person out of the five (selected images) is Ghengis Khan. The image is as BlaiddDdraig said is from one of Subject 16's glyphs.<br /><span style="font-family:Brush Script Std;font-size:25px;color:#5d1b1d;">Vatsa</span> 03:10, March 15, 2011 (UTC)

No, that was Atila the Hun. The five images from the glyph are Perseus, Atila, Arthur, Sigmund, and Joan of Arc.

That's 5 people from the glyph. No Genghis. There is nowehre any actual mention of the Sword in the hands of the Khan, except speculation. It arises from a line on codex page 28, I believe; Altair mentions that he suspects the Khan's power to stem from a PoE, and although he was probably right, he does not mention a sword at all.

It makes the most sense (the Sword builds great conquerors), but nowhere is it implied Genghis had the Sword. Vaxis, March 23, 11:20 CST

The Staff was a Piece of Eden, shaped like a staff. Known throughout history by names such as the Papal Staff or the Russian Imperial Sceptre, the the Staff of Eden was used by various Pharaohs, Popes and Russian Tsars.
This conjunction of two Pieces of Eden can also be used to open the door to the Vatican Vault. Its bottom end is sharpened, and can be wielded as a spear in combat. It also grants the possessor the ability to conceal his presence entirely, and the ability of levitation; though whether these are physical effects, or simply manipulations of the viewers' perceptions, remains unknown. It also had, somehow, the ability to change its shape, as its appearance had changed to various different forms over the course of time.
When Nikolai Orelov approached the Staff in 1908, he heard several voices emanating from it, speaking things such as "Always the fighter", “Adam, I have it”, “Just like your father”, and “Eve.”

History
The earliest known use of the Staff seems to be by the prophet Moses, who used it's powers of illusion and mind control to "part" the Red Sea, and free the Israelites from Egypt.

It is also known to have been used by the Pharoah Shabataka, who used it to rule over Ancient Egypt in the early 7th century BC. It was likely used by various pharoahs before and after him.

The next known user is Alexander the Great, who led a united Greek army into Asia. Possibly he acquired the Staff in Egypt, and he probably lost it when he was poisoned by the Assassin Iltani in 323 BC.

It was later kept by John the Baptist. who was a prophet and religious leader who baptised Jesus Christ (who himself owned at least one Piece of Eden). It would then pass into the hands of the first discple of Jesus, Saint Peter, who would establish Christianity and become the first Pope. It is assumed that the Staff circulated through the hands of the Roman Catholic Popes until it was used by Rodrigo Borgia, who became Pope Alexander VI in 1492 so that he could use the Staff to gain access to The Vault.

Ezio Auditore infiltrated the Sistine Chapel to confront Rodrigo, and a fight ensued, during which the Staff was wielded as a weapon against Ezio. Eventually Ezio defeated the despairing Rodrigo and used the Staff (combined with the Apple) to enter the Vault. When leaving the Vault, Ezio tried to remove the Staff from the center of the room, where it was secured in the Vault floor. Upon doing so, Ezio activated achinery making the Staff descend underground, despite Ezio's efforts to retrieve it.

It was somehow recovered at some point afterwards, as it had come into the possession of Tsar Alexander III during the 1880s. After his death, it was passed on to his son Tsarevich Nicholas II, but it was later secretly stolen by Grigori Rasputin. He brought it to Tunguska, where it was destroyed by the efforts of the Assassins and Nikola Tesla.
The Staff wasn't completely destroyed, though, and there was at least one shard that still existed. This shard somehow came into the possession of Grigori Rasputin. Even after Rasputin's assassination, Nikolai Orelov concluded that even a shard of the Staff would be a threat. Thus, he dug up Rasputin's body and retrieved the shard, most likely later destroying it.
The Shroud, more specifically PE66, is a Piece of Eden. Many historical and religious figures like Jason, Joseph, David, and Jesus have possessed it at a certain time. Its purpose still unknown although it was likely used to cure illness, wounds, and to resurrect the deceased. A characteristic of the shroud demonstrated in the story of the sick lady who touched Jesus' robe, whose health was then restored back to normal.

The Shroud is based on a real object known as the Shroud of Turin. According to the Asassin's Creed games, the Shroud in Turin is a forgery of the real PoE 66, made by Assassins.
It's earliest appearance seems to have been the Golden Fleece of Greek myth. A legendary object of strange pwoers, it was recovered by Jason, from a tree guarded by a serpent, reminiscent of the story of the Temptation of Eve.

It was also the famous multicolored dream coat given to Joseph by his father Isaac, a story renowned in the Hebrew Bible.

Roughly around 1000 AD it was in the possession of David, second king of Israel. It's possible the artifact aided him in his fight against Goliath.

It was in possession of the Assassins of Ancient Rome for some time. After the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC and the subsequent suicide of Brutus in 42 BC, his fellow Assassins tried to reanimate him using the Shroud, but it failed.
It is perhaps most famous during it's possession by Jesus Christ. It is unknown when he obtained the Shroud, but it likely was the source of his many healing myths. Being responsible for Jesus' crucifixion under the guise of the Roman Empire, the Templars sought to possess The Shroud. Jesus' disciples however, were somehow able to recover it and used it to resurrect him. After this, traces of The Shroud disappeared.

Eventually it came into the possession of Geoffroi de Charney, a french knight of the mid 14th century. It was stolen from him by the Assassins of Monteriggioni (most likely by a close desendant of Domenico Auditore), who replaced it with a forgery. The location of The Shroud was discovered by the Templars, at some point, seeing as the siege of Monteriggioni in 1454 was to gain access to The Shroud. Mario Auditore successfully repelled the attack, and through a confession of Luziano Pezatti, Mario learned that the siege was to gain access to something under Monteriggioni. When Mario and a team of soldiers excavated the well, they found a hidden chamber filled with traps. As they crossed the chamber, they suffered many casualties, and a trap even scarred Mario's eye. Eventually, Mario discovered The Shroud, but was attacked by his men because they wanted The Shroud for its healing capabilities. Scared of The Shroud's power, Mario sent for his brother Giovanni to take it away. It is unknown what Giovanni Auditore did with The Shroud, but it eventually ended up in the hands of the Assassins in Agnadello.

Perotto Calderon traveled to Agnadello in order to save his deformed illegitimate son by using the Shroud. Perotto even killed and maimed several of his brotherhood to access it. The Shroud then somehow fell into the hands of Niccolò di Pitigliano, likely during or around the Battle of Agnadello, of which Pitigliano was a participant. In 1510, Assassin Francesco Vecellio was sent to kill Niccolò di Pitigliano and to retrieve the Shroud. Vecellio succeeded in striking a deadly blow; however, Pitigliano survived. Wounded and dying, Pitigliano retrieved the Shroud from its hiding place and wrapped himself in it in an attept to save himself. However, the artifact turned against him and destroyed his body, finishing the Assassin's job. Vecellio, who had anticipated this, reappeared and took the shroud from his dying grip.

PThe Shroud was bought from a villager in Milan who was part of a group known as the Baguttiani, by a Templar agent during World War II for a large sum of money on Christmas day.

Side effects
The use of the Shroud does not come without side effects. As demonstrated with both Francesco Vecellio and Perotto Calderon the shroud has several psychologically and physically damaging side effects with its use. Once in physical proximity the Shroud seems to "speak" to the user. When touched by Perotto Calderon it "told" him, through a voice in his head, that his son was "broken goods" and could not be healed. Francesco Vecellio experienced the same voice in his head as well as graphic hallucinations. Like other Pieces of Eden, though more discernible than most known Pieces, The Shroud has even more detrimental effects when the user attempts to fully control its power. When Niccolò di Pitigliano attempted to control the Shroud, his body was smashed from inside-out by the Shroud's power.

In one of the Christmas memories for Project Legacy, a group of assassins assess the Shroud and it's appearance. They have stated the image of a man imprinted on the cloth seems to have changed through out history to match the image of the last person to have been revived by it's power.
Trivia
*Interestingly, in the French version of Assassin's Creed II, the Shroud was referred to as Piece of Eden #36, not #66. Whether this was a mistake in the translation or not remains to be seen.
*In Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, one of Mnemonic sets from the Holiday pack is "Shroud of Turin" with the description "Greatest mystery, or clever hoax?". It's components are: Jesus of Nazareth, Jacques de Molay, Geoffroi de Charny and Cesare Borgia.
*Coordinates given to Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Leonardo da Vinci in the Pythagorian Temple in the downloadable memory sequence "The Da Vinci Disappearance" point to the city of Turin, New York, which so happens to have a supposed crater near it.
