The '''Apprentices''', also referred to as '''Assassin recruits''', were formerly [[citizens]] [[Save Citizen|saved]] by [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze|Ezio Auditore]] from the rough streets of [[Rome]], during the [[Rise of the Brotherhood|war]] against the [[Templars]].

They subsequently devoted themselves to learning the ways of the [[Assassins Guild]], motivated by their drive for revenge against the Borgia for corrupting their beautiful city, and for harassing them on a daily basis.

Operating out of the [[Tiber Island]] headquarters, the apprentices were often sent on [[Contracts in Project Legacy|contract missions]] across Europe and Asia, in order to improve their skills, combat experience and aid the Assassin cause. When not on assignments outside of Rome, the apprentices would support the efforts of Ezio and his allies, providing reinforcement during Ezio's own missions.

During his own missions, Ezio was able to have up to six apprentices support him. They would commonly operate in pairs or alone, and were often called upon to perform Arrow Storms (wherein they would fire arrows upon any target from above), to engage in direct combat with an enemy, or to perform assassinations. Each time, Ezio would signal the apprentices to strike by raising his arm and clenching his fist.<ref name="Brotherhood" />

When operating without their mentor, the apprentices would move in teams, led by a single Assassin appointed by Ezio. Assassin apprentices were trained in a wide variety of skills and weaponry, including swords, [[Long weapons|spears]], [[smoke bombs]], [[throwing knives]], [[crossbow]]s, [[Pistol|guns]], and, of course, the [[hidden blade]]. They were also capable [[horsemen]], and were able to do battle from [[Horses|horseback]].<ref name="Brotherhood" /><ref name="Project Legacy" />

Their armor and weaponry could be customized however they chose, with each allowed to decide whether they would specialize in attack, defense, or both.<ref name="Brotherhood" />

Apprentices were also given trainee robes to wear to show their affiliation to the Order. Apprentices started at the bottom of the Order, at the ''Recluta'' (Recruit) [[Ranks|rank]]. As they gained experience and advanced in their skills, they would progress through several titles, before being granted the ''Assassino'' rank.<ref name="Brotherhood" />

Upon completing their training, the apprentice was allowed to formally join the Assassin Order as a full-fledged Assassin. An induction ceremony would be held within the Tiber Island headquarters, where, as per tradition, the apprentice's left ring finger would be branded, and they would perform a [[Leap of Faith]] from the building's roof.<ref name="Brotherhood" />

* Ezio signaling for the help of his apprentices is called a "B.A.M." or "Brotherhood Assistance Maneuver."
* While in combat, apprentices have predictable attack patterns. Once called in, they will immediately attack the enemy that was targeted when the B.A.M. was called in. Once that enemy is dead, they will attempt to use their hidden blade for high-profile assassinations to kill any remaining enemies that aren't guarding against it, usually throwing a smoke bomb to allow for instant kills. Then, once engaged with any enemy, they will either slash indiscriminately with regular kicks, or parry blows until they can successfully pull off a counter kill.
* Sometimes during combat, the apprentices will glitch and just stand immobile during a fight. This can also happen if they kill their own opponent, but other enemies remain around.
* While the Arrow Storm is meant to kill all guards within sight, at times there will be one that might survive the attack, particularly if they are targeted by Ezio.
* Apprentices usually experience difficulties in defeating [[Brutes]] and [[Seekers]] during a one-on-one battle, even as full-fledged Assassins.
** However, apprentices have little trouble engaging in combat with [[Papal Guard]]s.
* Unlike Ezio, apprentices can use their pistol at the same time as a heavy weapon (if equipped).
* There is a glitch that occurs when both an Assassin and Ezio try to assassinate the same target simultaneously. They will both appear to leap on him in high profile, but Ezio will then promptly teleport onto the next closest guard, killing him as well.
* If you call your apprentices from on top of the [[Castel Sant'Angelo]], they will not leave afterwards.
* If you call your apprentices from inside a hay cart, it is likely that one of them will jump out of the same cart and assassinate your foes.

===Behavior===
* Once an apprentice is promoted to the rank of ''Assassino'', there is a cutscene showing the Assassin performing a Leap of Faith into the [[Tiber River]], despite the fact that they cannot swim.
* In the Story Trailer, the video showed an Assassin walking off the edge, instead of running and taking a Leap of Faith.
* Within the Tiber hideout, only two apprentices will acknowledge Ezio's presence and greet him if he stands in front of them. This applies to the apprentice standing alone in the corner of the main room, and the one standing in the ceremonial hall.
* Apprentices can sometimes be heard saying ''"Requiescat in pace,"'' among other such phrases to dead enemies when a skirmish is won.
** Alternatively, they may walk up to Ezio to bow and say ''"I won't forget what you did for me"'' or ''"It is an honor to fight alongside you,"'' among other things.
* Occasionally, after a battle is won, recruits will kneel and stay kneeling until Ezio leaves the area.
* If you try to follow an apprentice, they will eventually get to Tiber Island and stop; though taking various confusing turns along the way, in an attempt to disappear from the player's screen. Alternately, they will simply run along a single set path, or vanish into the ground. Generally, they will all just disappear when Ezio breaks his line of sight with them for at most five seconds.
* Apprentices receive no damage from falling, even from the top of the Castel Sant'Angelo. Also, if a guard pushes an apprentice into water, they will not die, but simply return to the Tiber Island hideout.
* Even if all your apprentices are women, the Assassin recruits in the mission "[[Exit Stage Right]]" will always be male.
* The apprentices will never travel alongside Ezio. Once their targets are dead, they will flee. This contradicts many videos produced by Ubisoft showing groups of apprentices walking or standing beside Ezio.
* The apprentices' clothes are not physics-enabled, except for the cape.
* If all of your Recruits have achieved the Rank of Assassino and one of your Assassins dies, you will have to raise another to the rank of Assassino. However, in the Ceremony, all of your Assassins will appear as Recruits.
* In ''Assassin's Creed: Revelations, ''the apprentices will develop more of a personality. When they reach level 10 they can be assigned to protect [[Assassin Dens]] to train to become Master Assassins at level 15.

==High Middle Ages==

During the course of the Middle Ages, there were two main types of guards: Soldiers and [[Archers]]. The archers used to be mostly the same, while there were three ranks of soldiers, all of whom were armed with swords of varying styles.

The ordinary Crusader and Muslim guards spoke English. Crusader Captains and Sergeants spoke French or German. Muslim Captains and Guards spoke Turkish or Arabic and the Templar Knights spoke all of the dialects (but only spoke Arabic in Altaïr's fight against Robert's imposter).

The following were the different ranks of a soldier guard, as well as certain special types of guards:

===Regular Guards===
The ordinary guards didn't wear helmets (or wore turbans instead, for those in Muslim cities) and were only equipped with leather armor or light Lamellar armor. They weren't able to grab or break a grab, could not combo attack and couldn't counter attack. They'd only deflect attacks, with a 25% chance of dodging a light attack. Guard archers were on par with ordinary guards, except that they were only found on rooftops, wore a hood, and used bows for ranged attacks.

===Guard Sergeants===
These Guard Sergeants were equipped with helmets, the Crusader variant wearing chain mail tabards, and Saracen Sergeants possessing medium Lamellar armor. They could grab with a 50% chance of them being able to break a grab attack, as well as a 50% one of countering or dodging a light attack. There was also a 25% chance of breaking one's defense, but they could not perform a combo attack.

===Guard Captains===
Guard Captains were the most powerful guards besides the [[Knights Templar]]. The Muslim Captains wore Baidah helmets and heavy Lamellar armor while Crusader captains wore chain mail tabards with surcoats, chain mail mittens and varying knight helms (with faces usually covered, due to helmet size). They were also able to grab with a 75% chance of them being able to break a grab attack and counter or dodge a light attack. There was also a 50% chance of breaking through defense. If a successful heavy attack was delivered, they would perform a combo attack.

Templar Knights were a special variation of guard, of which only 60 could be found throughout the [[File:Templar2.jpg|thumb|189px|A Knight Templar]]accessed cities. They were similar to the Crusader guard captain, except possessing higher stats and a special armor, most notably a version of helmet that always appeared bloodstained. They also provoked a fight when seeing [[Altaïr]], no matter what social status, ordinary guards always standing back while [[Altaïr]] and the Templar Knights engage each other. Strangely enough, Templar Knights could be found in many places, including mountain paths and Muslim cities.

In the Xbox 360 version of the game, killing all 60 Templars will award the player the 'Personal Vendetta (40G)' achievement.

===Masyaf Guards===
The guards of [[Masyaf]], despite being marked as an ally via [[Eagle Vision]], function exactly like normal ones. They are equipped with robes similar to Altaïr's, but they only have a long sword and their robes are shorter. The ordinary guards wear no hoods, the elite guards wear hoods, and the guard captains wear hoods and cloth face masks, leaving only their eyes visible. They all speak English and have all five fingers, indicating that, though members of the order, they are not Assassins themselves, instead serving as the "Common Soldiers" of the Assassins.

Seekers, also called "Paranoid Guards", were constantly looking in hiding spots (such as the haystacks, benches, crowds and wells) and checking them for Ezio (although Ezio could assassinate the seeker from his hiding spot if this occurred). They were armed with long weapons, giving them an increased reach so that they could also perform "Sweep attacks" which required a wind up and resulted in them sweeping Ezio off his feet. This attack affects anyone in range of the long weapon, including fellow guards. The Long weapons main attacks could only be countered with the Hidden Blade, another long weapon/Polearm or a [[Heavy weapons|Heavy Weapon]]. They wear slightly more armor than a Leader-ranked Standard, but not as much as a Brute. When unarmed, they occasionally approached Ezio from behind and then held him while the other guards assaulted him. One of the new guard archetypes was the Agile, which, as the name suggests, was a very fast, light enemy. These guards were more fragile than Militia-Ranked Standards, making them very weak to a combo attack. Agiles have a morale rate of 40% which makes them the third-most cowardly after Militia guards and [[Archers|archers]].

The Brutes were both heavily armored and equipped, wielding two-handed weapons such as heavy swords and axes. Their armor covered almost every part of their bodies, making them tough to bring down, but also making them cumbersome and slow. They were not very intelligent, and wouldn't be able to tell Ezio from anyone else in a crowd.

When deflecting a short weapon, Brutes would not take damage (while all other guards do), but can still be damaged with a counter. A good way to make short work of them is to disarm them and counterattack, as they were very easy to disarm. Brutes have two types of attack: one quick, and one special, which began with a wind-up during which they stirred their weapon slightly in mid-air. The latter attack cannot be deflected or countered, and must be dodged. Ezio had to possess a Brute's weapon to counter the wind-up attacks of another Brute. Also, the Brutes were the only type of enemy that wouldn't flee a battle; they only ran away if disarmed and if they weren't able to find another weapon. Easiest tactic: taking out a Brute by using the Hidden Blade, either in combat (As it was possible to execute them in a 3 hit combo) or by stealth assassinating them. When facing multiple guards who were unaware of your presence, killing the brute first was most efficient.

Archers were guards that patrolled and defended the rooftops. They were armed with long-ranged bows and short-ranged melee weapons (such as swords or maces), and warned Ezio on sight to leave the place, no matter the notoriety. Approaching them would force them to warn you, then draw their weapon and commence a fight. Archers were seemingly just of Militia-ranked standard, with only the additional capability of attacking at a distance with their longbows, however their arrows were very slow and easy to dodge. However, the Archers in the [[Sistine Chapel|Vatican]] were Leader-ranked Standards.

While Florentine and Tuscan Archers could be killed with a single Throwing Knife, archers in the other cities and regions (such as Venice and Romagna) would need two [[Throwing Knives]] to be taken down. Since they were almost always on the rooftops of buildings, Archers were fairly easy to dispatch in melee combat, as they had the skill and hardiness of a Militia-ranked standard. Another good way to dispatch them was to simply throw them off the roof, resulting in an instant kill if they fell from more than two stories or if they landed in water. The archers also had a morale rate of 30% which made them a little braver than the average guard.

They can dodge attacks much like the Agile and can only be killed by counter attacks and attacks from behind.

*Dark yellow caps and sleeves with black armor plates were the guards that served the [[House of Medici|Medici Family]]. These guards first appeared helping fight the Pazzi during Sequence 4, and were found in Florence and San Gimignano.
*Green caps and sleeves meant they were serving the city of [[Forlì]]. They give aid in Sequence 12, and were found only in Forlì.

They were armed with asps, which could be disarmed for own use. They were quite weak to fight and were easily dispatched even when in larger numbers. They can be killed even more easily as Desmond couldn't be killed. Lucy would also be fighting, so it was an option to leave them to her. They would never run away from a battle and fought to the death or until they were unconscious.

Yes it does. Glad you asked: about becoming the lovely Mentore of this place, it wasn't as simple as creating it and being given control, I earned it. Sit and grab some popcorn cause a tale is coming. 

October of 2009, I was searching google for Assassin's Creed info and happened upon this wiki. It was abandoned, empty, with zero users, 7 articles and no activity, a "derelict" in the space of the internet. I entered, saw how badly the few articles that existed were and for the first time in my life, edited a article, something I've never done prior to that point. I started with Altaïr's page and spent a week editing and creating articles on wiki, virtually alone; not even anons edited this place. A couple of weeks later, I was contacted by a Wikia member saying that he noticed my edits, that he found them very good and offered me the post of admin on this empty wiki, and I took it.

I kept editing and working here, and during the month that followed, a handful of users started coming here and editing it, including two who would become a former and a current admin of ours. Over the time, the wiki kept growing, my edits attracting people and those people's edits attracting more people. I started implementing my ideas, which culminated on the creation of the [[Istruttorium]], our group of moderators which at the beggining only had 5 users XD As the wiki grew amazingly in a couple of months, the same wikia staff member who gave me admin status praised me like hell, said I was "a natural leader and I restored a wiki that been dead for 2 years back to its feet in two months" and blabla =P and made me the bureaucraut, and that's a summary of how I got here ^^

From then till now, the wiki has growed even more. Lots of ideas and projects have been put in motion, hundreds of articles were created, I assembled a team of awesome people to be at my side as this wiki staff (and expanded it to what it is today) and we WILL. KEEP. RISING! (and one day, I'll rule the world)

According to the licensing, I can use content from other wikis while I must credit the author(s). But since you don't want me to use your stuff in the persian wiki, I will delete them, and I only want to ask you to unblock me. Since I thought I was acting according to the Licensing, and since anyone never warned me that I was acting in violation of it. I think I deserve a second chance. You could have blocked me for a month, or warned me that I would be blocked for 72 years. I did not expect that, because you always warn a user when you want to ban them.

I would like to start off by apologizing for my immature, horrible, and stupid behavior a few months ago on the account Altzio.

A few months ago the admin Assassin-Rayne banned the account Altzio for vulgar and immature language used in an overreaction to a simple situation. This account, Altzio, is one I created and used during the weeks surrounding my SAT test. It the time I used it to relieve stress, but on the particular day of the ban I was under a lot of stress and after I saw that someone revised my lackluster work, I overreacted and completely verbally attacked them. I attacked Il Lupo, Jasca Ducato, and Assassin-Rayne in a fit of rage when I was really just anger but I misdirected my anger at the SAT test towards them.

I know this sounds like a stupid and fake story, but I swear to you and everyone else that it is entirely true and I would just like for you to unban that account as it is registered to my main IP address, so that I can 1) apologize to Rayne, Jasca, and Lupo and anyone else on the Wikia that I hurt or offended and 2) so that I can add to the Assassin's Creed Wikia and help develop it like I have been on this current account.

Please Cello, give me one more chance and I swear to you that I will attempt to contribute fully to the Wikia and never use such immature and dramatic behavior like I previously did.

:You can remove the spacing between the table data. To do so change the table attributes in [[Template:Portal/Main]] from padding=5 to padding=0. You can also change border=0 to border=1 to see where exactly the spacing is coming from - is it the margin, padding or the transparent border. :As for making the portal wider, the system is designed to be 100% wide. So that means that if you move it far down enough, it will automatically take up 100% of the width. However, this brings me to my next point.
:I believe the current portal style would be a lot more UI friendly if it uses a minimalistic interface. On DA we keep the size of the icons down and use text links as for a picture + text element. If you decide to go full and heavy on graphics, you may want to consider changing the design of the portal so it doesn't look so cluttered. For example, you can break it down into Main (first slider) containing just "AC3", "Games", "Community" and "Wiki". This assumes that most people visit the site for the latest and greatest AC. Then you can break down all the games further on the second slider page. The community can also be broken down into a sub page with icons. So something like this

I normally like to look over the Recent Wiki Entry to check through the history of pages quickly and see if there is something I can do to improve those articles, and an idea came to me. I thought it would be kind of cool if a person could click on where it says "Summary" or "Edited the section" and be linked to the page's history, or maybe to the gallery when photos are added.

Hello Director, Chief, Maestro and Mentore.

A new gameplay demo of AC: Revelations just in yesterday. Not trailer. An actual gamplay demo featuring Ezio and Altair. Bald Templar guy and the Crusader is in it as well. It seemed essential as so u cud post it along with the gamescon trailer.

As to any part of this video can be explained, I think it should only be the bombs ( as it is finally explained how they're customizable) The current customization Bombs page sorta has a deletion tag, so maybe I could be able to add more info from this. : He did not make the Wiki in general, he found it all discarded and in ruins, it was filled with Stubs and pages in need of Revamps. He built it up over time and people began to visit, he then created the Istruttorium (Staff) which maintains order and balance in the AC Wiki. So under technicality "No" he did not. What defines a major edit, because I am at 150 and when i get to 250 would like to sign up as an apprentice, but would like to know what a major edit is first so I can figure out what I should do in the mean-time. (Sorry if this message comes out screwy as I am on my phone) Well he said it was him after a few edits (all the edits were the same, even though myself and Vatsa1708 changed them back etc and after a while he made an actual user account to explain why etc) so I checked the ip address (as I said I got curious and wanted to make sure that it wasn't some anon messing with me.. not stalkerish at all :P) anyways, it matches the same basestation that covers the Ottowa-Montreal region and upon further investigation (as I am connected to most of the facebook fanpages even remotely related to the AC series) I saw that he linked (or more accurately liked the link on his wall) for the ''Assassin's Creed Wiki'' on his artist page on facebook at roughly the same time. == Someone keeps reversing the updates on Minerva's article ==

Hello dear Cello, I am SilentResident, :D I am Greek and I love the Italians!!! :D Una Faccia Una Razza we say, hehe. I am just posting here as I dunno where to ask for his help/advice with an edit-reversion-edit-reversion issue emerged in Minerva's article in the Wiki. Basically there is a guy who prevents us from adding or editing the goddess Minerva's page. I don't know why he became so... protective of that page...

I was just adding Minerva's olympian name Athina next to her Ertruscan names as she was known under that name in mount Olympus, (Minerva mentioned of Olympus in Assassin's Creed II and though it won't harm to add her Olympian name on the article, as she was known with multiple names - including the olympian name Athena) but dunno why, the guy keeps constantly reversing the edits on the page. :S

Not only this was enough, but also he keeps undoing/reversing the edits on the Trivia section as well. For this reason I added info/explaination about my updates on Minerva's Talk Page just in case. But he leaves no comment for his reasons of the reversions and he seems to ignore the Talk page as well. Perhaps I am doing something wrong? Me and another contributor had good reasons to undo the edits. Minerva is never called Athena in the AC Universe, and thus we shouldn't include her name on the ACWiki. I was reading the constantinople page on the wiki when I saw that is said "Around 1209, the city was visited by the Grand Master of the Assassin Order, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. During his time there, he hid five seals that, when brought together, would unlock the inner sanctum of the fortress of Masyaf."

And then I went on to the Seals of Altair and it said "In 1257, Altaïr passed the seals onto Niccolò Polo along with the Codex during Masyaf's fall, in hopes he would be able to hide them for future generations. Niccolò succeeded and hid the five seals in the city of Constantinople."

So which one is the correct one? because they both seem to be contradicting the other text.
