The '''House of Auditore''' was a noble family of [[Florence]]. Its prominent period was very short (approximately 100 to 200 years).

==History==
During the late 13th century, the family that would become known as the Auditores lived in on the outskirts of [[Venice]]. Sometime before 1296, [[Domenico Auditore]] was inducted into the [[Assassins|Assassin Order]], under the tutelage of [[Dante Alighieri]]. After Dante's death, Domenico was tasked to hide an [[Codex|important text]] in [[Spain]], but was ambushed at sea by [[Templar]] pirates. With only his son remaining, he used the bank account given by [[Marco Polo]] to impersonate a nobleman in [[Florence]], taking vocal lessons and studying architecture and classics, adopting the Auditore name. He then constructed a [[Villa Auditore|villa]] in the town of [[Monteriggioni]], hunted the Templars and trained his son to fight them and collect the Codex pages. Before his death, he left the origins of the family engraved on stone plates in the [[Auditore Family Crypt|family crypt]] hidden under Monteriggioni.

Over the years, the family gained in prominence even becoming a close ally of the [[House of Medici|Medici dynasty]], the rulers of Florence. However in 1476, approximately 170 years after its creation, the Auditore family collapsed, victims of a conspiracy led by [[Rodrigo Borgia]], [[Grand Master of the Templar Order|Grand Master]] of the [[Templars|Templar Order]], [[Uberto Alberti]], a close friend of [[Giovanni Auditore da Firenze|Giovanni Auditore]] before he betrayed the Auditore family to the Templars and the [[House of Pazzi|Pazzi family]], enemies of the Auditore and secretly Templars. They were considered as traitors of the Republic and excluded from the nobility. Most of the male members of the family in Florence were [[Auditore execution|executed]], leaving only [[Claudia Auditore da Firenze|Claudia]], [[Maria Auditore da Firenze|Maria]] and [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze|Ezio]]. After the execution, they took refuge in Monteriggioni under the protection of their uncle and ruler of Monteriggioni, [[Mario Auditore]], a condottiero with an army of [[mercenaries]] at his disposal to fight against the Templars in the region. He also is the brother of Giovanni, patriarch of the family in Florence who was executed along with two of his sons. Giovanni's only remaining son, Ezio, took on his work and sought vengeance against those responsible for the death of his father and brothers. He contributed in restoring the villa and the city of Monteriggioni as well by adopting the rule of Monteriggioni.

It is unknown how many persons wore the name of Auditore after the events of ''[[Assassin's Creed II]]'', but most of the information about the Auditore family has been erased from History after the conspiracy and the name was most likely lost over the centuries. The lineage however kept extending with two known descendants of Ezio Auditore in the 21st century; [[Desmond Miles]] and "[[Subject 16]]".

==Biography==
===Early Life===
Little information is known about Rebecca's past, though it appears that she was not born into the [[Assassins|Brotherhood]], as she comments that the Assassins contacted her when she was older. Prior to being an Assassin, Rebecca was into sports, including extreme snowboarding. However, one day she broke her leg, and began pursuing an interest in computers and coding, finding them more interesting than her previous hobbies.<ref name="AC:B" />

Before being contacted by the Assassins, Rebecca was dating an electronics expert. When Desmond questioned her further about the outcome of the relationship, she replied by saying that she had a boyfriend, and then didn't, implying that he may have been killed. Shocked by this, Desmond asked her if she was kidding, which she was. She continued to say that death is only funny when it's not happening in front of you, and that ''"(she) should know"'', and then refused to say any more about the topic.<ref name="AC:B" />

She also appears to be an old friend of [[Lucy Stillman]], although, prior to [[Desmond Miles]] and Lucy's escape from [[Abstergo]], the two purportedly did not see one another for seven years, because of Lucy's internment at Abstergo.<ref name="ACII" />

Later on, Desmond asked her if she had ever used the Animus to learn about her ancestors, she commented that it was pretty boring compared to his ancestors, and that she spent the whole day firing guns as a Prussian mercenary.<ref name="AC:B" />

===The Hideout===

She often left notes within the [[Database Articles|database entries]] that Shaun created for Desmond while he was in the Animus, especially if the entries indicated the presence of a [[Glyphs|Glyph]] or [[Assassin's Tombs|Assassin's Tomb]] therein. As well as this, the memory core that Rebecca had received from Lucy with the records of the [[Animus]] Desmond used at [[Abstergo]], allowed Desmond to interact with the encrypted files [[Subject 16]] left behind in [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]]'s memories.<ref name="ACII" />

While Desmond was outside of the Animus, he, Rebecca, and Shaun, discuss the Assassin Order. According to Shaun, he began spreading the word about Abstergo and the [[Templars]], provoking unwanted attention by the latter. Rebecca however, ''"saved"'' Shaun, and recruited him into the Order. When Shaun commented that the Assassins were killers, and not exactly the ''"good guys"'', Rebecca rebutted this statement, and assured Desmond that taking a life, though never easy, is sometimes needed for things to change.<ref name="ACII" />

After Desmond received the message from [[Minerva]], Abstergo found and broke into the hideout. Rebecca helped Shaun pack up the Animus gear, while Desmond and Lucy defended themselves from the Abstergo guards. As they escaped in the truck, Rebecca was able to get the Animus activated inside it, which allowed Desmond to reenter the [[Renaissance]], and finish any remaining memories while on the way to their second base up north.<ref name="ACII" />

===Monteriggioni===

After the [[Modern Times|modern day]] Assassins were forced to leave their hideout, due to being discovered by Abstergo, they fled to [[Monteriggioni]], where Rebecca set up the Animus 2.0 under the [[Villa Auditore]], inside its secret vault.<ref name="AC:B" />

During Desmond's breaks from the Animus, he talked to Rebecca about the Animus' performance, as well as her past, and a few other topics. Whilst reading [[Rebecca's e-mail|her e-mails]], it was implied that Shaun and Rebecca have a budding relationship.<ref name="AC:B" />

After Desmond found out the location of the [[Sixth Apple|Apple]], and they arrived at the [[Colosseum]], Lucy took Rebecca and Shaun on an alternative route through Capitoline Hill at Shaun's suggestion, as himself and Rebecca did not possess the necessary free-running abilities to reach the Apple's location. When [[Juno]] spoke to Desmond, she, as well as the others could not hear or see her.<ref name="AC:B" />

As Desmond retrieved the Apple, everything around them froze. He was then taken over by the goddess, and forced to stab Lucy, but once Juno relinquished her control over Desmond, Rebecca and Shaun appeared physically unharmed.<ref name="AC:B" />

==Characteristics and personality==
Rebecca was an energetic, and somewhat immature young woman, and despite the fact that she saved his life, Shaun was quick to belittle and gibe at her. She was rather tolerant and optimistic, representing Shaun's foil – being the polar opposite of her colleague, friendly and talkative. She showed great pride in her work, praising her redesign of the Animus as having a far more enlightened and creative construct; a ''"competitive edge"'' as she called it. She also remained convinced, that despite Shaun's dubiousness of their means, the Assassins are, as Desmond puts it, ''"the good guys."''

==Trivia==
*When in the Animus 2.0, Rebecca adds information to the database using the name REBECCAC84. This username holds her first name, the initial of her last name, and implies her birth year. This may mean that she is 28 as of 2012.
*When Lucy Stillman and Desmond Miles first enter the hideout, Rebecca greets Lucy happily and exclaims: ''"It's been so long... seven years!"'' This means that the last time the two friends saw each other was in 2005.
*Her e-mail password is Snowmass84, likely to reflect her previous hobby, as well as implying her birth year.
*After losing her MP3 player, Rebecca sends an e-mail to her teammates about it, claiming that she ''"can't sleep without it."''
*In one of her e-mails, Rebecca talks about sometimes missing her family, and her dog.
*Rebecca was originally going to have shorter hair in ''Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood'', but was scrapped and replaced with her usual clothing with a jumpsuit.

*Oddly enough, some civilians in ''Brotherhood ''appear to have her hairstyle.
