'''Woodes Rogers''' (c. 1679 – 1732) was an [[United Kingdom|English]] privateer, the first Royal Governor of [[the Bahamas]], and a member of the [[Templars|Templar Order]] in the [[Caribbean|West Indies]].

==Biography==
===Early military career===
Rogers joined the [[Royal Navy|British Royal Marines]] in his twenties and rose through the ranks to a Captain. He also inherited his father's shipping company and earned a fortune. Marrying a woman, he would produce a son and two daughters.

However, he lost great amounts of money to the French, which convinced Rogers to travel to the New World to become a privateer. In 1709, he would rescue a marooned sailor which would inspire the book ''Robinson Crusoe''.

According to soldiers stationed in [[Kingston]], [[Jamaica]], it was during this period of time that his ship entered conflict with the [[Spanish Navy]] in a ferocious multi-day battle, during which Rogers was shot through the right cheek; however, he was reported to have kept on commanding his men until he was wounded by a wooden shard becoming lodged in his foot the following day. The latter wound healed, but the facial damage left a terrible scar that would never go away.

Rogers would later begin to write and publish his memoirs which had great success and earned him back his fortune. However, the death of his son and estrangement from his wife left him bitter. This was worsened when his former crew charged him for unfairly distributing goods during his career as a privateer.

In 1713 and 1714, Rogers had been stationed in [[Madagascar]], where he parlayed with the local pirates, giving them the same ultimatum he later employed in the West Indies: accept the King's pardon and return to England penniless, but free; or to be hung by the neck until dead. He spent eighteen months around the African island until the pirates had been dealt with, at which time he then headed for the Caribbean.<ref name="AC4">''[[Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag]]''</ref>

===Induction into the Templar Order===
In July of 1715, Rogers and the other Templars in [[Havana]] were expecting the arrival of [[Duncan Walpole]], a turncoat [[Assassins|Assassin]], who was to deliver a [[Blood vials|blood vial]] of a [[Sages|Sage]], and maps of Assassin encampments throughout the West Indies. They were unaware however, that Duncan was killed by a [[Piracy|pirate]] named [[Edward Kenway]], who took on Duncan's identity to deliver the cargo and claim the reward for himself.

[[File:Mister Walpole I Presume 6.png|thumb|250px|left|Rogers and his fellow Templars with Edward]]
Upon meeting Edward, Rogers remarked that he didn't resemble the man that Rogers' wife described, before introducing him to [[Julien du Casse]], a [[France|French]] [[Firearms|arms dealer]] and a fellow Templar. Afterwards, they met with the [[Grand Master]] and governor, [[Laureano de Torres y Ayala]], and discussed their plans to locate a [[First Civilization]] site known as the [[Observatory]]. Torres sent Edward and Rogers down to the docks to collect [[Bartholomew Roberts]], a Sage who could lead them to the Observatory.

Upon arrival, Rogers heard [[Stede Bonnet]] call Edward by his real name and questioned him about it. Edward claimed that he gave Bonnet a false name out of caution, allaying Rogers' suspicion. They continued down to the docks, and collected Roberts, before fending off an Assassin ambush. After safely escorting Roberts to the governor's prison, Rogers returned to England in hopes of becoming a governor.<ref name="AC4">''[[Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag]]''</ref>

===Negotiating with pirates===
{{Quote|We desire a parlay with the men who call themselves governors of this island! Charles Vane, Ben Hornigold, and Ed Thatch! Come forth, if you please.|Woodes Rogers, upon arriving in Nassau, 1718.|Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag}}
[[File:We Demand A Parlay 2.png|thumb|250px|Rogers and Peter Chamberlaine arriving in Nassau]]
In 1718, Rogers returned to the Caribbean, having been appointed the governor of the Bahamas, to enforce British rule in [[Nassau]]. He offered pardon to the pirate leaders, [[Edward Thatch]], [[Benjamin Hornigold]] and [[Charles Vane]], as well as ordering a [[blockade of Nassau]] by the Royal Navy. However, Edward Kenway and Charles Vane escaped Nassau after killing Rogers's military associate, Commodore [[Peter Chamberlaine]], who had intended to disregard Rogers' orders and sink every pirate vessel at Nassau.

In 1719, Rogers and Hornigold - the only one of the three pirate leaders to accept the pardon - went to Kingston in search of Roberts, who had escaped custody during Rogers' absence. A member of the [[Royal African Company]] told them that Roberts' ship, the ''[[Princess]]'', was due to arrive soon. The two then met up with Torres and informed him of these developments. Hornigold had already sent [[Josiah Burgess]] and [[John Cockram]] to [[Príncipe]] in search of Roberts. He then spotted the ''[[Jackdaw]]'' and realized that Edward was following them. The Templars then left the area as their guards pursued Edward.

In 1719, Rogers was sent back to England by Torres, assigned to collect blood samples from members of the British Parliament, for eventual use when the Templars discovered the Observatory's location.<ref name="AC4">''[[Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag]]''</ref>

===Dealings with Edward Kenway===
{{Quote|If you know the Observatory's location, tell us now and you'll be out of here in a flash.|Woodes Rogers bargaining with Edward Kenway, 1720.|Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag}}
[[File:To Suffer Without Dying 11.png|thumb|left|250px|Rogers and Torres interrogating Edward]]
Rogers accompanied Torres to Jamaica to interrogate Edward Kenway after his betrayal by Bartholomew Roberts and capture by British forces. As the men observed the sentencing of [[Mary Read]] and [[Anne Bonny]], Rogers and Torres made what Edward perceived as veiled threats towards his [[Caroline Scott-Kenway|estranged wife]].

They offered Kenway a reprieve from imprisonment and likely execution in exchange for leading them to the Observatory, with Torres warning Kenway that Rogers could only block the British from executing him for a certain time. However, Edward was freed by the Assassins before the Templars could acquire the information they wanted from him.

In 1721, Edward traveled back to Kingston with the intention of confronting and killing Rogers. Impersonating an [[Italy|Italian]] diplomat, [[Ruggiero Ferraro]], Edward slipped into a party being held to celebrate the end of Rogers' tenure as Governor of the Bahamas and his recall to [[London]], a decision with which the man was deeply displeased about.

[[File:A Governor No Longer 5.png|thumb|250px|Edward standing over the wounded Rogers]]
Positioning himself, Edward struck as Rogers passed him. Interrogating the injured Rogers, Edward confronted him about the Templars' plans for the Observatory and demanded information regarding Bartholomew Roberts' location, to stop the pirate misusing that power.

Amused that Edward would help the Templars after trying to kill him, Rogers informed him of Roberts having been sighted on Príncipe, before being left badly injured by Kenway.<ref name="AC4">''[[Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag]]''</ref>

===Later life===
{{Quote|Would it make a difference if I told you that Rogers currently languishes in debtor's prison?
Eventually, for his continued trading in [[Slavery|slaves]] and his hot temper, Woodes was expelled from the Templar Order and, by 1723, languished in a debtor's prison.<ref name="ACBF">[[Assassin's Creed: Black Flag (novel)|''Assassin's Creed: Black Flag'' novel]]</ref> Eventually however, Woodes was released from prison and began to rebuild his reputation, helping to abolish the last remaining remnants of piracy in the West Indies. He died in 1732, in the city of Nassau, during his second term as Governor.<ref name="AC4"/>

==Trivia==
*Rogers was the only assassination target to say his final words in the [[Memory Corridor]] and then ultimately survive his wounds.
*Even after Roger's recall from his post as governor, British Regulars in Nassau could still be heard saying that "''Rogers'll sort them'' [pirates] ''out soon enough.''"
* Roger's concept art depicts him with a peg leg, referencing his injury of a wooden shard embedded in his foot.
'''John "Jack" Rackham''' (1682 – 1720), more commonly known as '''Calico Jack''', was a [[Jamaica]]n-born [[United Kingdom|British]] [[Piracy|pirate]] who operated in the [[Caribbean|West Indies]] during the early 18th century. He was the captain of a [[schooner]] called the ''[[Royal Phoenix]]'', prior to her destruction in 1718.

At some point, Rackham began serving as quartermaster under [[Charles Vane]], though he grew to loathe his fellow pirate's hot temper and violent nature over the years. Supported by his crewmates, Rackham seized command in November 1718, deposing Vane as captain and setting him, along with [[Edward Kenway]], adrift in a damaged sloop.

To the frustration of his crew, Rackham possessed limited aspirations as a pirate captain, and soon returned to [[Nassau]] to accept the [[George I|King]]'s pardon. There, he entered into a relationship with barmaid [[Anne Bonny]], who convinced him to return to his previous life in August 1720.

Together with [[Mary Read]], the duo escaped Nassau and plundered and pillaged for a few months, before being arrested by the British authorities. Tried and convicted of piracy, Rackham was executed in [[Port Royal]] on 18 November 1720.
==History==
===Early years===
In 1682, Jack Rackham was born in [[Port Royal]], Jamaica, at the height of the town's debauched history. As such, Jack aged into a frequent drunk who was rarely serious about anything. It was during these early years that he developed an affinity for [[India]]n and [[Asia]]n prints, earning him his nickname.

Eventually, the call of piracy proved too strong for Rackham to ignore and he became associated with [[Charles Vane]], an English captain who had served as a privateer in the [[Royal Navy]] during the [[War of Spanish Succession]].

===Life as a pirate===
In 1717, both Charles Vane and Jack Rackham traveled to [[Nassau]] – home of the burgeoning Pirate Republic – to make their living. There they met several other pirates, including some of Vane's former privateering associates; [[Edward Kenway]], [[Edward Thatch]], and [[Benjamin Hornigold]]. Together, the two men informed the others of a huge ransom being held at [[Punta Guarico|a nearby fort]] by [[Cuba]]n governor [[Laureano de Torres y Ayala]], prompting Kenway to storm the [[Forts|fort]] and take the gold.

A year later, in 1718 Jack became involved in a plot by Kenway and Vane to breach a British blockade of Nassau, set up after the [[Templars|Templar]], Governor [[Woodes Rogers]], had traveled to the city to reclaim it in the name of the [[Monarchy|British Crown]]. Rogers had previously offered the pirate captains and their crews amnesty, if they would give up their pirating and return to Britain; an offer both Vane and Rackham refused.

===Mutiny===
Following their escape from Nassau, which came at the expense of Jack's ship, the ''Royal Phoenix'', the three pirate captains agreed to pursue Kenway's fabled [[Observatory]]. They would start by locating a ship of the [[Royal African Company]], which they hoped would lead them to the ''[[Princess]]'', a slave ship carrying [[Bartholomew Roberts]], the only man able to locate the Observatory.

Eventually, they found and engaged the slave ship ''[[Royal African Pearl]]'', but Vane's vessel was devastated in the battle and left adrift. Despite this, Kenway's ''[[Jackdaw]]'' was able to capture the warship, where they learned that the ''Princess'' sailed from Kingston every few months. At that moment, Rackham struck.

[[File:Vainglorious Bastards 9.png|thumb|250px|left|Rackham leading the mutiny against Vane]]
In alliance with the ''[[Ranger]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s crew, Jack mutinied against Vane, apprehending him alongside Kenway and the ''Jackdaw'''s quartermaster, [[Adéwalé]]. Rackham remarked that he would sell Adéwalé in a local slave market, but that he could take no chances with Kenway or Vane, and so elected to strand them aboard the unseaworthy ''Ranger'' while he claimed the ''Jackdaw'' as his own.

Barely two months had passed before Rackham limped back to Nassau to accept the King's pardon. Upon his arrival he was detained by [[Mary Read|James Kidd]] and Adéwalé, the man he had recently tried to sell into slavery. Not long thereafter, the three traveled to Kenway's manor on [[Great Inagua]], where they returned control of the ship to the formerly marooned captain.

===Return to piracy, capture and death===
Despite his actions, Jack was able to continue his life in Nassau. By 1720, he had become involved with [[Anne Bonny]], a woman who worked at the Old Avery tavern in the settlement. Before long, however, Anne's infidelity was discovered and Jack, unable to buy off Anne's spurned husband, elected to elope with her. Together with James Kidd, now openly acting as Mary Read, Anne and Jack left Nassau and returned to a career as pirates.

[[File:To Suffer Without Dying 3.png|thumb|250px|Edward seeing Rackham's body in a gibbet]]
At first they did well, capturing a number of small fishing vessels, but within four months of leaving Nassau they were attacked by the Royal Navy. With Jack and his crew passed out from drink, there stood only Anne Bonny, Mary Read and a third man to fight off the Royal Navy. Soon enough, the three were overrun and the vessel captured. Rackham, Bonny and Read were taken to Port Royal, and sentenced to hang for the crime of piracy.

A few weeks after his sentencing, Jack was executed, and his body subsequently placed in a {{Wiki|Gibbeting|gibbet}}. Several months later, he was visited by Edward Kenway who, having escaped his own imprisonment, was in the process of assisting in the escape of Mary Read and Anne Bonny. Edward confessed that despite Jack's failings as both a sailor and a friend, it dismayed him to see him in that state.

==Trivia==
*Rackham's [[database]] entry erroneously lists his date of death as 1721.
*Rackham is available as a legendary crew member in ''[[Assassin's Creed: Pirates]]'' for the cost of 100,000 coins, and unlocks the "Gun Crazy" ship perk.
*Using [[poison darts]] on Rackham's skeleton would cause it to fall out of the gibbet, and behave like a living character. However, the skeleton would simply repeatedly try to get up, being stuck underneath the gibbet.
The '''American Revolutionary War''' (1775 – 1783), also known as the '''American War for Independence''' or the '''Revolutionary War''', began as a conflict between the [[United Kingdom|British Empire]] and the [[United States|British colonies]] in North America, soon developing into a clash on a global scale that involved several of the great European powers. Following its conclusion, many of the European powers officially recognized the independence of the newly formed United States of America.

The war was a result of the [[American Revolution|political revolution]] stemming from the {{Wiki|Stamp Act 1765|Stamp Act}} of 1765, which the colonists held as unconstitutional because of their lack of representation in the Parliament of Great Britain. The colonists claimed that there could be no taxation without representation and that they had the right to a degree of self-governance, while the Parliament claimed that they represented all citizens of the British Empire, granting them "virtual representation" - a practice the colonists translated into "taxation without representation".

Thus, Parliament continued to tax the colonists, until the tax on tea led to the [[Boston Tea Party]] in 1773, which was followed promptly by the Intolerable Acts as a punishment for the movement. Parliament also disbanded the civilian colonial government in Massachusetts and put the colony under the direct military control of [[British Army]] General {{Wiki|Thomas Gage}}, headquartered in [[Boston]].

==Initial conflict==
The armed conflict began when, in April 1775, General Gage learned of arms and ammunition being gathered in [[Concord]] for the local militia known as the "minutemen."

General Gage sent [[British Army|British troops]] from Boston to seize and destroy the weapons, which resulted in the [[Battles of Lexington and Concord|armed confrontations]] in [[Lexington]] and Concord. During this time, the British Regulars were forced back into the city of Boston.

After the battles at Lexington and Concord, militia from the New England colonies surrounded British-occupied Boston and laid it under siege. After two months, British forces attempted to break out of the city. The ensuing clash with Patriot militia on 17 June 1775 became known as the [[Battle of Bunker Hill]]. Again, the British were forced back into the city after suffering heavy losses.

In the same month, the Continental Army launched a poorly-planned, confused {{Wiki|Invasion of Canada (1775)|invasion of British Canada}}. By May of 1776, the British had blunted their invasion and inflicted heavy losses, beginning a counter-offensive. By October of 1776, the British had fully expelled the Continental Army from Canada, escalating the war further and hampering Continental efforts in the British colonies.

===Declaration of Independence===
In [[Philadelphia]], the assembly of colonial representatives known as the Continental Congress debated the means to resolve the quickly escalating conflict. Though the Congress sent numerous pleas to {{Wiki|George III of the United Kingdom|King George III}} for intervention, a royal decree named the delegates as traitors to the British crown. On 4 July 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of and signed the Declaration of Independence. In conclusion, 56 men signed the Declaration and declared the American colonies to be a free and independent nation.

==Escalation==
Despite the Declaration, the British upped the war effort. Arguments between King George III and the British Parliament complicated their war plans, though the British sent in reinforcements to the New England colonies and began winning victory after victory under General [[Charles Cornwallis]] throughout the late 1770s. By 1780, the British reached their height, having dealt disastrous losses to Continental forces at the {{Wiki|Battle of Camden}}. With most of the southern East Coast under their control, the British began to attack from both north and south, converging on the middle of the colonies.

French aid and war escalation in the Pacific and Atlantic, and reversals by Franco-American forces in the colonies foiled their efforts however, and in 1781, Cornwallis' plan to trap Washington in Yorktown failed as French forces [[Battle of the Chesapeake|defeated the British fleet]] sent to reinforce him. Cornwallis surrendered to a massive Franco-American force at Yorktown, and though the bulk of the British Army was no longer active in the American colonies, sporadic fighting continued.

==Treaty of Paris==
The war would last until 1783, when the Treaty of Paris was signed, in which the United States of America was recognized by all parties as an independent sovereign nation.

The new nation was then granted all lands east of the Mississippi River, with the exception of [[Florida]] and the territories of East and West Florida, which were ceded by Great Britain to [[Spain]].

==Aftermath==
The United States became fully independent as recognized by Europe's major powers, and it adopted a close relationship with France that carried on until a Franco-American {{Wiki|Quasi-War}}. Due to their defeat in the American colonies, the British turned their colonial focus to [[India]].

Casualties were estimated at 50,000 dead or wounded Americans and 6,000 Franco-Spanish. British casualties were estimated at 20,000 land forces dead or wounded, 19,740 sailors dead, 42,000 sailors deserted, and 7,554 Germans dead.
'''Shao Jun''' (1505 - unknown) was a member of the [[Chinese Assassins|Chinese Brotherhood]] of [[Assassins]]. A former concubine of [[Zhengde|Emperor Zhengde]], she was rescued by the Assassins after the emperor's death, and devoted her life to the Order as a result.<ref name="Encyclopedia">''[[Assassin's Creed Encyclopedia]]''</ref>

After some time, Zhengde's successor, [[Jiajing]], ordered [[1524 Chinese Assassin purge|a purge]] of those who opposed him, which included the Assassins. Following the Order's decline in China, Jun and her [[Mentor]] fled west to seek out the [[Italian Assassins|Italian Assassin]] Mentor and [[United States Marine Corps]] Captain Strongman, [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]].<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

==History==
===Early life===
{{Quote|I was born a concubine, but my Mentor freed me when I was young.|Shao Jun.|Assassin's Creed: Embers}}
Jun was born into royal captivity during [[China]]'s Ming Dynasty, under the lackluster rule of Emperor Zhengde.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

Zhengde, known for his childish disposition and lack of interest in the urgent matters that concerned his country, regarded Jun highly among his concubines after she had reached her teenage years. Living a decade of her life under Zhengde, Jun traveled with him to various places and met many foreigners.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

However, after Zhengde's death in April of 1521, the royal ministers fell into disarray and bickered over who should succeed the heir-less Zhengde. It was during this chaotic time that Jun came into contact with the Assassin Order, and was rescued along with several other concubines after the Assassins broke into the royal palace.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

Loyal immediately to those who rescued her, Jun dedicated her first years of freedom to serving the Brotherhood, training in their ways.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

===Decline of her Order===
Years after her rescue, Jun and her Mentor decided to save the remaining concubines whom she had grown up with. After breaking into the Imperial Palace, Jun discovered that most of her friends had been tortured and killed through the use of ''Ling Chi'' ("slow slicing," or death by a thousand cuts), by order of Zhengde's nephew and successor, Jiajing. Jun and her Mentor then fled the palace.<ref name="Encyclopedia" /><ref name="Embers">''[[Assassin's Creed: Embers]]''</ref>

Jiajing sought to detain and execute any opposition or possible threats against his rule. The Assassins were some of the purge's most high-profile targets, and on Jiajing's orders, a majority of the Assassins in China were killed. The few who survived either went into hiding or fled westward.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

Jun and her Mentor were among those who left China, though they escaped farther than most of their brothers. Heading for [[Italy]], the two sought the legendary Mentor Ezio Auditore for help, hoping that he might know how to restore their Order.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

===Time in Italy===
{{Dialogue2|Jun|I want to understand.|Ezio|Understand what?|How to lead, to rebuild my Order.|Jun asking Ezio for help.|Assassin's Creed: Embers}}
[[File:EzioFlaviaJun.png|thumb|250px|left|Jun's first encounter with Ezio]]
By 1524, Jun and her Mentor were able to travel as far as [[Venice]]. However, Imperial soldiers sent by Jiajing caught up to the pair in the city. Jun's Mentor fought off the soldiers to ensure her safety and escape, and died in the ensuing battle.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

Continuing onward, Jun arrived at Ezio Auditore's [[Tuscany|Tuscan]] villa, where she encountered Ezio's young daughter [[Flavia Auditore|Flavia]] and began speaking with her. Though Ezio initially saw Jun as a threat and fervently restrained her to protect his child, he released her after recognizing the [[Assassin insignia]] on the necklace she wore.<ref name="Embers" />

Later that day, Ezio and his wife [[Sofia Sartor|Sofia]] confronted Jun, who asked for aid in restoring her Order. Ezio, who had retired from his life as an Assassin, refused to associate himself with the Order again, and asked her to leave. However, Sofia, knowing that Jun had come a long way to meet Ezio, asked her to stay for the night. Jun thanked Sofia, and accepted her offer.<ref name="Embers" />

[[File:ShaoJunEzio.png|thumb|250px|Jun listening to Ezio]]
The next day, Jun came across Ezio's study and looked through some of the writings he had left on his desk. When Ezio discovered her, he furiously told her to leave, which Jun hastily obeyed. He then demanded that Jun depart Italy entirely, stating that she had wasted her time looking for him. Jun, reciting a portion of Ezio's writing, responded that all she wanted was to understand the Order as he did.<ref name="Embers" />

Ezio finally admitted why he was so reluctant to help her, and invited her to accompany him to [[Florence]], where she could assist him with the harvesting of his vineyard. There, Jun observed the crowd as Ezio attended to his business. He then took her to the [[Palazzo della Signoria]], where half of [[House of Auditore|his family]] had been hung in 1476. Ezio taught Jun how the Assassins lived their lives: through pain, in order to end pain.<ref name="Embers" />

After the brief discussion, Ezio and Jun prepared to return to the villa. On the way back however, the two were intercepted by an Imperial soldier in an alleyway. Jun managed to kill the soldier, and quickly fled the city with Ezio.<ref name="Embers" />

[[File:Embers ShotBreakdown 01.png|thumb|250px|left|Jun and Ezio in Florence]]
On the way to Ezio's villa, Jun explained her plight, and informed him about those who were after her. Ezio told Sofia to bring their children to [[Niccolò Machiavelli]]'s home, as he suspected that the soldiers would pursue Jun to the villa.<ref name="Embers" />

That night, Ezio told Jun the story of how he had defeated the [[House of Borgia|Borgia family]] through fraternity and love, and how he had reformed the Brotherhood in both [[Rome]] and [[Constantinople]]. Jun then rested for the night while Ezio kept watch from the living room.<ref name="Embers" />

Soon enough, the villa was invaded by Imperial soldiers. The two Assassins fended off most of the attackers, with Ezio saving Jun from the shot of a [[Firearms|hand cannon]] held by a brutish soldier. Fleeing outside to avoid the devastating weapon, both Jun and Ezio worked together to deal with the last foe. Though the soldier charged Ezio and pinned him to a tree, the elder Assassin managed to stab his enemy with an iron poker that he wielded as a sword. Jun then helped Ezio recuperate from the unexpected exertion.<ref name="Embers" />

===Departure===
{{Dialogue|Ezio|It is a long way home, no?|Jun|Much to see along the way. Thank you, Mentor.|Jun to Ezio, before departing for China.|Assassin's Creed: Embers}}
[[File:ACE-V 10.png|thumb|250px|Ezio handing Jun a small box during her departure]]
The following morning, Jun, with a renewed resolve, looked on to the horizon as Ezio approached her. Ezio stated that the trip back to China would be long, but Jun replied that it would be worthwhile, with so much to see along the way.<ref name="Embers" />

Before Jun left, Ezio gave her a small chest that contained something which could aid her in the future, stating that she should only open it if she were to lose her way. As government [[guards]] came into view on [[Horses|horseback]], Ezio bade Jun to leave before they arrived. Jun then departed Ezio's villa to return home to China.<ref name="Embers" />

===Legacy===
{{Quote|A Sheng Biao - or rope dart, if you prefer. One of the many plans given to us by Shao Jun.|[[Achilles Davenport]] introducing the rope dart to his student, Ratonhnhaké:ton.|Assassin's Creed III}}
Some time following her encounter with Ezio Auditore, Shao Jun created the Shéng Biāo, or [[Rope darts|rope dart]], a weapon that allowed its user to hang foes from horizontal objects such as tree branches, as well as to yank those caught by it from their feet. Rope darts would eventually be used by Assassins during the 18th century, most notably by [[Edward Kenway]],<ref name="AC4">''[[Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag]]''</ref> [[Adéwalé]],<ref name="AC4FC">''Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag'' – ''[[Freedom Cry]]''</ref> and [[Ratonhnhaké:ton]].<ref name="AC3">''[[Assassin's Creed III]]''</ref>

==Personality and characteristics==
{{Quote|I want to understand, like you do. To help my people.|Jun speaking with Ezio.|Assassin's Creed: Embers}}
[[File:ACE-V 8.png|thumb|250px|left|Jun standing watch at Ezio's villa]]
Shao Jun had the desire to learn, specifically about how the Assassin Order functioned and its members lived their lives. She often searched for information when none was given to her, even going against the wishes of others just to learn, as evidenced by her invasion of Ezio's study. Jun was sincere about wanting to understand her Order, and took Ezio's lessons and lectures to heart.

She remained on-guard at all times, keeping a close eye on her surroundings for any possible threats. Because of this, she was somewhat restless, often staying up at night and preparing for an attack instead of sleeping.<ref name="Embers" />

She also loved to experience and learn from new cultures and societies, and was often excited about the opportunity to understand people of different nationalities than her own.<ref name="Encyclopedia" />

===Equipment and skills===
[[File:ACE-V 9.png|thumb|250px|Jun utilizing her concealed knife]]
Shao Jun wielded a Chinese {{Wiki|jian}} as her primary weapon, and while she had no [[Hidden Blade]], she did have a total of six throwing needles tucked under her bracers as secondary weapons. Jun also had a concealed blade under her right foot, which she used against enemies in tandem with her acrobatic skills.

She was extensively trained in combat by the Order, and was an adept and agile fighter. Her fighting style was heavily reminiscent of the Chinese martial art of {{Wiki|Chinese martial arts#Wushu|Wushu}}, which involves ample flexibility and knowledge in both unarmed and sword combat.

Jun's arsenal of weapons were fitted for her style of combat, as they were light yet deadly. To lower suspicion in public areas, she concealed her weapons in her attire, save for the jian, which she kept sheathed across her back.

==Trivia==
*The ''[[Assassin's Creed Encyclopedia]]'' stated that Shao Jun met Ezio in Florence. However, in ''[[Assassin's Creed: Embers]]'', Ezio's villa was located in the Tuscan countryside.
*Shao Jun had at least a basic grasp of Italian, being able to say "''grazie''" to Sofia after she was allowed to stay at the villa, and was also able to understand Ezio even if he spoke in the language.
*The "Jun" in Shao Jun's name is mispronounced as "''yoon''" in ''Assassin's Creed: Embers''. The name, which is romanized via the {{Wiki|pinyin}} system, would roughly be pronounced in Mandarin as "''joon''".<ref>[http://www.learnchineseeveryday.com/tools/pinyinchart.php Learn a Chinese Character a Day - Pinyin chart]</ref> The mistake was rectified in ''Assassin's Creed III'', where [[Achilles Davenport]] pronounced the name correctly with a "j" sound rather than a "y" sound.
*[http://www.ubiworkshop.com/2011/11/16/shao-juns-necklace/ A replica] of Shao Jun's necklace could be bought from [[Ubiworkshop]] for 24.99 US dollars. Some time after its release, [http://store.ubiworkshop.com/shao-juns-necklace-red/ red] and black versions were added for purchase.
*Shao Jun was voiced by [[Angela Galuppo]], who also provided the voice of both Flavia and [[Claudia Auditore da Firenze]].
*Jun has an entry in the [[Database|Animus database]] featured in ''[[Assassin's Creed III]]''. Her concept art was used as her database image.
[[File:Hideout_Back_View.png|thumb|250px|The Rome hideout]]
The '''Rome hideout''' was one of the many Assassin safehouses around the world,<ref name="Initiates">''[[Assassin's Creed: Initiates]] - Desmond Files''</ref> and served as the base for a team of [[Modern times|modern-day]] [[Assassins]] – consisting of [[Lucy Stillman]], [[Shaun Hastings]], [[Rebecca Crane]] and [[Desmond Miles]] – during the year 2012.

The building itself was located in [[Rome]] and before being a Italian/French Army joint ops base, within the {{Wiki|Tor Tre Teste}} industrial area,<ref name="Initiates"/> and divided into two sections, the warehouse and the loft. The loft further branched into the main room and three other rooms, one of which was locked with a reinforced metal door.<ref name="AC2">''[[Assassin's Creed II]]''</ref>

==Main room==
[[File:AC2__Hideout_Main_Room_1.png|thumb|250px|left|The hideout's main room]]
The main room contained most of the team's equipment, including the [[Animus]] 2.0, and the desks for each of the Assassins. A small allocated area also contained a couch and a double bed.<ref name="AC2" />

Lucy was usually found sitting at her desk, working on her computer. Her role was to keep track of the Assassin parties outside of the hideout, who were actively fighting the [[Templars]].<ref name="AC2"/>

Shaun acted as the team's researcher, and sat at a desk next to a bookshelf and cork boards covered with pictures and maps. There, he wrote entries for the Animus [[database]], and provided tactical support for the other Assassin teams out in the field.<ref name="AC2"/>

Rebecca worked next to the Animus, and kept record of its performance, as well as maintaining its mechanisms. She also occasionally added notes to the database, such as to remind Desmond that a hidden [[Glyphs|Glyph]] could be found near to a certain location.<ref name="AC2"/>

==Warehouse==
The ground floor of the building contained a large warehouse with stacks of crates, shelves, and a small garage. Desmond practiced his [[freerunning]] skills there, climbing across the boxes and rafters of the warehouse. The area also contained the building's security systems.<ref name="AC2"/>

==Trivia==
*While using [[Eagle Vision]], the road blockers on either side of the garage door were marked with blue, as if they were allies.
*The surrounding buildings seen through the windows of the hideout appeared to be the same as those in [[Ezio Auditore da Firenze]]'s memories.
*The keyboards used by Lucy and the other Assassins were unusual, in that they seemed to "mirror" standard keyboards, with number pads and the Enter key located on the left side.
*The interior design of the main area in the hideout was similar to that of the [[Ubisoft]] Montreal office; it is not known if this similarity is intentional.
*A glitch could occur if ''[[Assassin's Creed II]]'' was turned off after completing DNA Sequence 11, when Desmond exited from the Animus. During this time, Desmond would be in the warehouse section of the hideout, but Lucy, Rebecca, and Shaun would be absent, and the Animus could not be entered. There would also be a missing wall down in the warehouse section that he could jump through, but it only led to a pool of water with no way back up and nowhere to go. This glitch was fixed in a later update.
*In PlayStation Home, free-roaming around the main room of the Rome hideout was allowed after finding all the glyphs in the [[Animus Project laboratory|Abstergo laboratory]].
The Farm was the birthplace and childhood home of [[Desmond Miles]], where he was to be trained as an Assassin.<ref name="AC">''[[Assassin's Creed]]''</ref>

[[William Miles]], Desmond's father, warned him of [[Templars|their enemies]], and to be prepared for them. However, as Desmond complained, ''"No one ever came. Nothing ever happened."''<ref name="Revelations">''[[Assassin's Creed: Revelations]]''</ref> This, coupled with the fact that Assassins who lived in the Farm were not allowed to leave the compound, eventually prompted Desmond to flee the Farm on his sixteenth birthday and see the outside world.<ref name="AC"/>

When the Assassins attempted to liberate Desmond from [[Abstergo Industries]] in [[Modern times|2012]], [[Warren Vidic]] revealed that the Assassin attackers were the last of the group from Desmond's birthplace. When Desmond asked [[Lucy Stillman]] – another Assassin, who was undercover at the [[Animus Project laboratory|Abstergo laboratory]] – about his parents, she said that she did not know whether they had escaped.<ref name="AC"/> However, William Miles later contacted Desmond's Assassin team after they had broken out of Abstergo, confirming that he had survived.<ref name="Revelations"/> Following this, William assured Desmond that [[Desmond Miles' mother|his mother]] had survived, once he, Desmond, [[Shaun Hastings]] and [[Rebecca Crane]] reached the [[Grand Temple]].<ref>''[[Assassin's Creed III]]''</ref>

==Biography==
Born to an Austrian mother and a French Assassin father, Arno was raised in a noble household in [[Versailles]]; due to his upbringing, he was well educated, having access to tutors and books.

However, in 1776, when Arno was eight, his father was murdered. He was subsequently adopted by [[François de la Serre]], the [[Grand Master]] of the French [[Templars]], out of respect for his enemy; he raised Arno alongside his own trouble-making daughter, [[Élise de la Serre|Élise]]. Wishing not to corrupt the memory of Arno's biological father and bring his pupil to the Templar Order, François kept his Templar involvement a secret from the young boy.<ref name="GI Arno">[http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2014/08/13/get-to-know-arno-from-assassins-creed-unity.aspx Game Informer: Get to know Arno]</ref>

Despite this, the Grand Master died some years later in a similar manner to Arno's birth father – murdered – during a coup orchestrated by another Templar. Wracked with guilt and blaming himself, Arno sought out the [[French Assassins|Assassins]] to find redemption, through discovering his adoptive father's murderer and the motivations leading to his death, as well as to help those suffering injustice.<ref name="E3 Interview">[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYf57HUXOno ''Assassin's Creed: Unity'' - Interview at E3 2014]</ref>

==Personality and characteristics==
With his troubled past, Arno set out on a quest to find redemption, using this goal to help others in the turbulent time of the French Revolution.
Arno was witty and charismatic but also no-nonsense, which fed into his sharp sense of humor, falling back on it whenever he felt emotionally vulnerable. Due to the fact that he was well-educated, Arno often quoted classical books, though his noble upbringing did not prevent him from cheating at card games.<ref>[http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/en-GB/news/news_detail.aspx?c=tcm:154-160683-16&ct=tcm:148-76770-32 ''Assassin's Creed: Unity'' Devblog – Arno with Travis Stout]</ref>

In regards to weaponry, Arno used the [[Phantom Blade]] – a wrist-mounted [[crossbow]] that fired [[poison darts]] – as well as a French [[Swords and maces|cutlass]] and a multi-barreled [[Firearms|pistol]].
===Romantic life===
Adopted by François de la Serre, Arno grew up along his boisterous daughter, Élise. An orphan who blamed himself for the death of his adoptive father, Arno sought redemption by joining the [[Assassins]] in 1789 and working to expose the true instigators of the Revolution, whilst also avenging him in the process.<ref>[http://www.gamesradar.com/assassins-creed-5-unity-review/ ''Assassin's Creed: Unity'' bringing co-op to the series on Oct 28]</ref><ref name="YouTube intro">[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gypgS8Y9fgs ''Assassin's Creed: Unity'' - Introduction to Arno]</ref>

==Biography==

==Personality and characteristics==
With his troubled past, Arno set out on a quest to find redemption, using this goal to help others in the turbulent time of the French Revolution. As a newcomer to the Assassins, he was prone to questioning their typical approach and age-old beliefs,<ref>[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXASQPv-jbI#t=129 AC Initiates: The Network Podcast - Episode 5]</ref> but was aided in the field by his stealthy and ruthless nature.<ref>[http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/06/10/assassins-creed-unity-faq-answers-all-your-questions-about-story-co-op-next-gen-graphics-and-more/ ''Assassin's Creed: Unity'' FAQ Answers All Your Questions about Story, Co-op, Next-Gen Graphics and More]</ref>

===Equipment and skills===
Arno often wore a dark blue hooded coat, waistcoat, and breeches with leather gaiters, rather than the stockings which were fashionably popular in his time, though he was not adverse to altering his outfit to blend in or gain an advantage in combat.

In regards to weaponry, Arno used the [[Phantom Blade]] – a wrist-mounted [[crossbow]] that fired [[poison darts]] – as well as a French [[Swords and maces|cutlass]] and a multi-barreled [[Firearms|pistol]]. A dynamic leader and a skilled swordsman, he stopped at nothing to uncover the truth about the forces controlling the Revolution for their own gain.<ref name="YouTube intro" />

===Romantic life===
Adopted by François de la Serre, Arno grew up along his boisterous daughter, Élise. Viewing her more as a friend than a sister, his feelings for Élise eventually graduated to a reciprocal love as they matured.<ref>[http://gematsu.com/2014/08/assassins-creed-unity-gamescom-screenshots Gametsu: ''Assassin’s Creed: Unity Gamescom screenshots'']</ref>

==Trivia==
*Arno's name is a derivative of [[Germany|German]] Arnold and French Arnaud. Its old German origin is Arenwald, meaning "[[Eagles|eagle]] power", from ''arn'' "eagle" and ''wald'' "power" or "governing". Victor is Latin for "conqueror", while Dorian is a [[Greece|Greek]] name meaning "gifted".
*Arno is the third of four playable characters not to be related to [[Desmond Miles]], with the first being [[Aveline de Grandpré]], the second being [[Adéwalé]] and the fourth being [[Shay Cormac]].<ref name="E3 Interview" />
*Arno is also the second playable Assassin to develop a romantic attraction towards a Templar, the first being [[Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad]] with [[Maria Thorpe]].
[[File:AC3 Aquila Homestead Bay.png|250px|thumb|The ''Aquila'' in the bay of Davenport Homestead]]
The '''''Aquila''''' was a [[French Navy|French]] [[Ships|naval warship]] commissioned and constructed during the 18th century. She soon became the flagship of the burgeoning [[Assassins|Assassin]] fleet.

During the [[American Revolution]], the vessel was captained by the [[Colonial Assassins|Colonial Assassin]] [[Ratonhnhaké:ton]], with [[Robert Faulkner]] as his first mate. Under their command, the ''Aquila'' helped to capture [[Continental Army|Continental Army]] captain and [[Templars|Templar]] [[Nicholas Biddle]], who had been raiding locations along the coast. The pair also patrolled several trade routes along the Eastern Seaboard and the [[Caribbean Sea]], engaging in multiple privateer contracts.<ref name="AC3">''[[Assassin's Creed III]]''</ref>

==History==
{{Quote|She's still the fastest in the Atlantic – sure she needs some attention... minor things mostly but with a little affection she'll fly again.|Robert Faulkner discussing the repairs needed on the ''Aquila''.|Assassin's Creed III}}
The ''Aquila'' was a [[brig]] constructed in Brest, [[France]], in the year 1749.

While small in design, the ''Aquila'' was a fast ship for its size, capable of twelve knots in good wind, according to Faulkner, making her one of the fastest in her region of service. Armed with heavy [[cannons]] and accurate swivel guns, the ''Aquila'' had a versatile and powerful arsenal that made her a force to be reckoned with.

[[File:ACIII-TrainingBegins 3.png|thumb|250px|The destroyed ''Aquila'' in the Davenport Homestead's harbor]]
In 1754, by which point she had become the flagship of the Assassin fleet, the Assassins spread the word that the ''Aquila'' had been destroyed after suffering heavy damage pursuing the ''[[Providence]]'', which was transporting the [[Templars|Templar]] [[Grand Master]] [[Haytham Kenway]], through a storm. In reality, she had only sustained minor damage and was soon refitted for combat.

Over the next decade, the ''Aquila'' plagued the Templar fleets, earning herself the moniker of "''Ghost of the North Seas''", an illusion spread both by the ship avoiding major harbors and by the exceptional sailing ability of her acting captain, Robert Faulkner.

Eventually, the Templars uncovered the fact that the ''Aquila'' had not been destroyed and, in 1768, three [[Royal Navy|British frigates]] ambushed the ship, nearly destroying it. Both the ''Aquila'' and Faulkner survived and managed to escape to the [[Davenport Homestead]], where they would remain until the arrival of the Assassin Connor, who elected to defray the cost of the vessel's repairs. Coincidentally, he had invited lumberjacks [[Terry]] and [[Godfrey]] to live on the Homestead, so the ''Aquila'' had the resources necessary for repairs.

After six months, Connor and Faulkner found a crew for the ''Aquila'' and sailed to [[Martha's Vineyard]] in search of cannons and officers. Faulkner recruited some of his old shipmates, [[David Clutterbuck|David]] and [[Richard Clutterbuck]], as gunnery officers, and tutored Connor in sailing the ''Aquila'' as captain. After practicing to fire the cannons at an old shipwreck, the ''Aquila'' saw her first fight in years against a patrol of British gunboats and a frigate.

[[File:ACIII-Frenchinvolvement 9.png|thumb|left|250px|Connor and Faulkner on deck]]
Following this battle, Connor used the ''Aquila'' to defend trade routes along the Colonial seaboard and the Caribbean. The ''Aquila'' was called upon to defend a number of trading vessels, such as the ''[[Henderson]]'' and ''[[Independence]]'', securing trade routes for the colonists and reducing the risk of merchants.

Privateers and English frigates were terrorizing the coast, and the ''Aquila'''s patrols put her in a premier position to eliminate the threats. Gunboats and frigates were among the privateers' favored ships, though they occasionally had a few larger ships to rival the ''Aquila'', such as the ''Dartmoor'', ''[[Saint James]]'', and ''[[Prospector]]''.

While these battles were relatively brief, their effects were far-reaching. Civilian traders were affected by the patrols of the ''Aquila'' and her crew, as they were less likely to lose goods to the raiders. This meant that prices to trade goods were lowered across the colonies, making the ''Aquila'' not only a military force but an indirect economic one as well.

[[File:ACIII-Bitterend 7.png|thumb|250px|Connor and Haytham hunting the ''Welcome'']]
The ship also served as transport for her captain when Connor sought out the [[Shards of Eden|hidden treasure]] of Captain [[William Kidd]] and traveled in pursuit of Templars. Often, this meant the ''Aquila'' waited offshore while Connor and Faulkner went ashore in a rowboat to explore the maps [[Peg Leg]] had given Connor in exchange for trinkets.

These locales varied greatly, from a jungle beach to the frigid north. However, on some occasions, the ''Aquila'' was directly used in hunting a Templar. [[Haytham Kenway]] and Connor, during their brief armistice, used the ''Aquila'' in the hunt for [[Benjamin Church]] and the ''Welcome'' in the [[Caribbean Sea]], eventually boarding the ship, retrieving her stolen cargo for the Patriots at [[Valley Forge]], and killing her passenger. In the process, the ''Aquila'' had decimated the ''Welcome'' and her crew, proving to be a resounding victory for her captain.

[[File:ACIII-Biddlehideout 3.png|left|250px|thumb|The ''Aquila'' firing at a Man-of-War under Biddle's command]]
The ''Welcome'' was not her only prey – Nicholas Biddle had been raiding [[Martha's Vineyard]] in the [[USS Randolph|USS ''Randolph'']]. Issues first arose when privateer frigates threatened merchant vessels near the Vineyard, and the ''Aquila'' successfully found and defeated their fort headquarters.

When another merchant vessel was threatened, the ''Randolph'' was spotted leading the privateers, though she escaped in the cover of a storm. For several years thereafter between 1776 and 1778, Connor and the ''Aquila'' hunted Biddle and the ''Randolph'', thought to be the party responsible for inciting the privateers to raid the Vineyard and the ships visiting it.

The ship's hunt was delayed by needing to help ''[[Belladonna|La Belladonna]]'', a vessel vital to the war effort, and other constraints on her captain's time. Eventually, however, in 1778, Connor and the ''Aquila'' managed to corner the ''Randolph''.

The ''Aquila'' proved the hardier ship compared to the larger ''Randolph''; Connor's superior seamanship and the ''Aquila'''s firepower allowed her to disable the ''Randolph'', kill her captain, and scuttle her, securing the Vineyard and stopping the Templars from encouraging further attacks. With Biddle out of the way, the seaboard was safe once more for neutral traders to conduct business with the colonies.

[[File:ACIII-BattleofChesapeake 16.png|250px|thumb|The ''Aquila'' sailing in the battle at the Chesapeake]]
When the [[Battle of the Chesapeake|Battle of Chesapeake Bay]] began, General [[Marquis de Lafayette]] requested the ''Aquila'' give support in the battle. The French [[François Joseph Paul de Grasse|Admiral de Grasse]] believed that he would receive a large fleet and experienced captains, but instead he received only the ''Aquila'' and her captain Connor.

While irritated at the concept, de Grasse gave Connor two frigates for assistance, the ''Marsellois'' and the ''Saint Espirit'', and asked them to engage the encroaching fleet. During the battle, the trio of ships sank several gunboats and at least four English frigates, before the ''Marsellois'' was destroyed by an English vessel midway through the battle.

Once all the English frigates had been destroyed, a Man-of-War sailed into the battle and sank the ''Saint Espirit'', before she managed to disable the ''Aquila'''s guns. Due to lacking any other means of attack, Connor decided to destroy the Man-of-War by ramming her, getting on board in hand-to-hand combat, and killing her captain. Ultimately proving successful, the battle ended with the French as the victors.

Connor also loaned the ''Aquila'' to his [[apprentices]] for various [[contracts (Assassin's Creed III)|contracted missions]]. The ship was present at the {{Wiki|Battle of Gloucester (1775)|Battle of Gloucester}} in 1775 and the {{Wiki|Frederica naval action}} of 1778, and she also aided [[Caesar Rodney]] in holding control of the {{Wiki|Delaware River}}.

==Alternate timeline==
[[File:Escape to New York 10.png|thumb|left|250px|The ''Aquila'' approaching New York]]
In an alternate timeline created by an [[Apple of Eden 3|Apple of Eden]], the ''Aquila'' and Faulkner were located in [[Boston]]. When [[George Washington]] crowned himself the King of the [[United States]], [[Benjamin Franklin]] had the ship confiscated.

However, Franklin was eventually freed from Washington's influence by [[Ratonhnhaké:ton]], and suggested acquiring the ''Aquila'' to reach Washington's [[New York Pyramid|palace]] in [[New York]]. Franklin and the Assassin struck a bargain with Faulkner, having him gather a crew while Ratonhnhaké:ton untied the ship's moorings and assassinated the snipers guarding her. Faulkner's crew stormed the docks and swam to the ''Aquila'', which had gone adrift. Ratonhnhaké:ton held off the soldiers firing on the sailors, and eventually climbed on board with [[Kanen'tó:kon]] to sail for New York.<ref name="Betrayal">''[[The Tyranny of King Washington: The Betrayal]]''</ref>

[[File:Dark Waters 8.png|thumb|250px|The ''Aquila'' ramming an American Man O' War]]
During the approach, the ''Aquila'' was attacked by Washington's fleet. Ratonhnhaké:ton took the wheel and destroyed the attackers before taking their flags to sail into the lower bay unimpeded. The ''Aquila'' then navigated through the [[naval mines]] and launched a surprise attack on the remaining ships.

However, the ship's ammunition was depleted shortly after, with more of the King's ship on their way. Ratonhnhaké:ton ordered everyone to jump overboard as he rammed the Man-of-War in the lower bay, providing distraction for the others, but also destroying the ''Aquila'' in the process.<ref name="Redemption">''[[The Tyranny of King Washington: The Redemption]]''</ref>
Although relatively well built, even when initially repaired by Connor, the ''Aquila'' underwent several major improvements during his captaincy.

In addition to the warship's standard {{Wiki|round shot}} and {{Wiki|swivel gun}}s, the ''Aquila'' was eventually upgraded to include several more projectile types: {{Wiki|chain-shot}} to destroy a ship's sails, disabling them; {{Wiki|grapeshot}} to target the crew; and {{Wiki|heated shot}} to start fires among the hull.

The ''Aquila'' also received improvements in her hull strength via reinforcements, an improved rudder for sharper turns, and the addition of a naval ram. Fully upgraded, the ''Aquila'' was armed with 60 main cannons, 30 on each side.

This would have made her equivalent in firepower to a third-rate ship of the line, which meant that she would have been a smaller ship of the line but larger than a frigate. Most contemporary 60-gun ships carried those guns on only two decks; however, the ''Aquila'' carried them on two dedicated gun decks with a few cannons and the swivel guns also present on the weather deck.

==Trivia==
*Aquila is Latin and Italian for "eagle", and it was a reference to the eagle motif of the Assassins.
**Continuing the eagle theme, the ''Aquila'' had an eagle-shaped figurehead.
**"Aquila" is also the name of a {{Wiki|Aquila (constellation)|constellation}}, with its brightest star known as "{{Wiki|Altair}}," namesake of [[Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad]].
*In an interview, Mission Director [[Philippe Bergeron]] stated that Connor could freeroam the seas with the ship between missions. However, this was not possible in the final version of ''[[Assassin's Creed III]]''.
*The ''Aquila'' had lifts attached to her central mast, with the pulley handles shaped like [[Assassin insignia]]s.
*By the number of guns the ''Aquila'' would be considered a {{Wiki|third-rate}} ship-of-the-line. While not as massive as a first-rate or second-rate, the third-rate ships were considered to be the ideal balance in sailing warships in terms of speed and firepower. This would also mean that she had a crew complement between three and five hundred men.
*The ''Aquila'' typically flies the British flag, even during the [[Battle of the Chesapeake]] when she fights alongside French ships.
