The Papal Guard were elite soldiers commanded by the Papacy to serve and protect the pontiff during his tenure. By 1503, the Papal Guard protected Pope Alexander VI, and were commanded by the Pope's son, Cesare Borgia. During that year, several guards were forced to confront several Assassins, including Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who had attacked the Papal parade in Rome, though the intentions of the attack are unknown at this time. The sole purpose of the Papal Guards is to kill Ezio in order to protect the Pope.

They carry the best of all the abilities held by other guard archetypes, and can easily deflect and counter many of Ezio's attacks. They can wield matchlock firearms in one hand, with a sword in the other, making them deadly opponents in both short and long range.

Trivia
*These guards were the precursor to the Swiss Guard, who have protected the pontiff since 1548.
*The Papal guards may be less skilled than Ezio, however they are considerably stronger and have a larger build, being at least a head taller than Ezio.
*The Papal guards are the most versatile enemies due to possessing skills from all the guard archetypes and handling a variety of weapons, they will fight as a Brute, Agile and Seeker depending on what weapon they are armed with.

After becoming Master of the Order, Altaïr used the knowledge from within the Apple to construct a lightweight, yet unbreakable set of armor.

History
Unlike the robes Altaïr wore during the events of Assassin's Creed, this armor provided more protection against attacks and was dyed black/red. Due to its advanced design, it was more similar to the armor Giovanni and Ezio wore than Altaïr's original armor. The armor is seen in Assassin's Creed II.

Assassin's Creed II
Years later, Altaïr's armor was stored inside a vault below the Auditore Villa, locked behind bars which only opened when all six seals from hidden Assassins' tombs were collected and placed on their respective statues. As each seal was placed, a bar (to which the placed seal corresponds) retracted into the wall. When all six seals were placed, the bars that block access to the Altaïr's armor retracted into the floor, granting access to the armor. Altaïr's armor was the most powerful armor in Assassin's Creed II. Since it couldn't break, it didn't need to be repaired, which saved the user a great deal of florins. Unfortunately, the armor couldn't be dyed visibly when worn. In Altaïr's Codex Pages, he claimed to have created a new metal which was incredibly strong whilst being light as a feather. In a contrast to other Asassins' robes, Altaïr's armor was black, while Ezio and Altaïr originally wore white. The black color scheme could be attributed to the rank of Grandmaster of the Syrian Assassins' Sect, which Altaïr obtained after defeating Al Mualim. Once Ezio obtained it, it could be taken on and off in the Auditore Family Villa in the armor room. Altaïr's armor had to be worn all at once: you couldn't mix it with other armor sets/types. It's important to note that while the armor was unbreakable, it was not a full body suit, which explained how Ezio could be damaged while wearing it.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Altaïr's armor was lost during the Templar attack on the Villa Auditore in 1499. While the armor was in the room when he found out about the attack Ezio probably didn't grab it because the cannonball that broke through the wall had scattered it and he was rushed to join the fight. The armor was virtually indestructible, which would have been crucial to Ezio as he'd have been more able to resist Cesare Borgia's gunmen. Due to its nature, it most likely survived the raid but had been buried underneath the rubble of villa.

Trivia
*According to a piece of concept art, it seems that the armor was intended to be an invention by Leonardo da Vinci before being a creation of Altaïr.
*While wearing the armor the hood is never down during cut-scenes where it would normally be down if wearing Giovanni's assassin robes.
*The cloak for Altaïr's Armor, in addition to being black, is much longer than the one Ezio would wear with the other armors, and made up of three layers. Each layer is longer than the one above it, and the longest, lower layer is segmented, which gives the whole piece a look resembling Eagle's Wings. The back of the lower layer is also split down the middle, making it behave much like Altaïr's cloak from the original game, where each side would move up and down as the back of Altaïr's legs pushed against them.
*It is interesting to note that the Chest Guard of Altaïr and Pauldrons of Altaïr somewhat resemble Roman Lorica segmentata. Also, the cape-pauldron seems to be composed of leather. Plus, the Vambraces of Altaïr resemble golden Missaglias and Guard Captains wear similar vambraces. The Greaves of Altaïr also bear a strong resemblance to leather.
*The Robes that come with the armor look like a cross between Al Mualim's, Altaïr's and Giovanni's robes.
*Altaïr's armor, unlike other armors in the game, can only be worn as a full set.
*Despite having been created by Altaïr probably in the 13th century, the armor set corresponds with 15th century Italian fashion. This could be attributed to the armored parts of the outfit being created in the 13th century while the cloth sections where added at a later time period, closer to the 15th century.
*It is also interesting to note that while Altaïr's armor is the strongest armor in the game the Missaglias Vambraces give the player one extra health point whereas Altaïr's armor does not.
*While in Assassin's Creed II the armor was found in Ezio's armory, in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood it is found in Ezio's room at the top of the Villa.
Multiplayer
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is the first Assassin's Creed game to feature a multiplayer mode. The players are Templars in training at the Abstergo facility. They use the animi (plural of animus) to train by stalking and killing one another. If the game is pre-ordered at gamestop.com, an extra character called "the Harlequin" will be available to play as.

One of the multiplayer game modes has been announced in the July edition of Playstation magazine. This mode is called "Wanted". Six to eight players are dropped on a map, not too small, not too big, where they stalk and kill each other. Each player is given a target, who is another player. You're goal is to find and kill your target without being seen or killed by your own predator. If you break cover, your target sees you and will run away, starting a chase sequence. They will try to hide from you, you have to catch them and kill them. It is a multiplayer experience unlike any other : cerebral, intense and exciting.

Aside from the characters and the "Wanted" game mode, no specifics are known as of yet.

Physics and Effects
Ubisoft has stated that the graphics will be improved upon, aswell as several physics in the game. Ragdolls will fall much more realisticly due to the new, edited "Havok" engine. In the other games, ragdolls sometimes would combust when hitting the floor after being thrown off a building.

In Assassin’s Creed II, Some PC players have stated that ragdolls such as the "Borgia Messenger" are more likley to fall unrealisticly, due to their cape that 'clips' through their body. In some instances, ragdolls would have fallen with their arms clipping through their backs and legs. These certain instances mostly happen if Ezio picks up a body and throws it back on the ground, although it could happen anytime.
Controlling the Assassins
Now that Ezio is a master assassin he practically has control of the assassin order during the Renaissance. During the game you will have the option to send assassins to areas to complete tasks. You will have the ability to send a group to Spain to complete an assassination. You can have the ability to train young assassins and have them do jobs for you.

After becoming Master of the Order, Altaïr used the knowledge from within the Apple to construct a lightweight, yet unbreakable set of armor.

History
Unlike the robes Altaïr wore during the events of Assassin's Creed, this armor provides more protection against attacks and is dyed black/red. Due to its advanced design, it is more similar to the armor Giovanni and Ezio wear than Altaïr's original armor. The armor is seen in Assassin's Creed II.

Assassin's Creed II
Years later, Altaïr's armor was stored inside a vault below the Auditore Villa, locked behind bars which only open when all six seals from hidden Assassins' tombs are collected and placed on their respective statues. As each seal is placed, a bar (to which the placed seal corresponds) retracts into the wall. When all six seals are placed, the bars that block access to the Altaïr's armor retracts into the floor, granting access to the armor. Altaïr's armor is the most powerful armor in Assassin's Creed II. Since it cannot break, it doesn't need to be repaired, which saves the user a great deal of florins. Unfortunately, the armor cannot be dyed visibly when worn. In Altaïr's Codex Pages, he claims to have created a new metal which is incredibly strong whilst being light as a feather. In a contrast to other Asassin's robes, Altaïr's Armor is black, while Ezio and Altaïr originally wore white. The black color scheme can be attributed to the rank of Grandmaster of the Syrian Assassin's Sect, which Altaïr obtained after defeating Al Mualim. Once you've obtained it, it can be taken on and off in the Auditore Family Villa in the armor room. Altaïr's armor must be worn all at once, you can't mix it with other armor sets/types. It's important to note that while the armor is unbreakable, it is not a full body suit, which explains how Ezio can be damaged while wearing it.
*Despite having been created by Altaïr probably in the 13th century, the armour set corresponds with 15th century Italian fashion. This could be attributed to the armored parts of the outfit being created in the 13th century while the cloth sections where added at a later time period, closer to the 15th century.
*It is also interesting to note that while Altaïr's armour is the strongest armour in the game the Missaglias Vambraces give the player one extra health point whereas Altaïr's armour does not.
*The Armour is lost during the Templar attack on the Villa Auditore in 1499, at the start of Brotherhood. Ironically the armor is actually bullet-proof which would have been EXTREMELY CRUCIAL to Ezio as he'll be INVINCIBLE against Cesare's gunmen if he was ever worn it. Because it's truly indestructible It most likely survive the raid but been buried under the rumble of Villa.ACII
