Jing Lang (1686 – 1717) was a Chinese Templar, pirate, and target of Edward Kenway in the early 18th century.

The daughter of a rebel, Jing Lang grew up fighting. As a young woman, she developed a talent for negotiation and a knack for languages, as well as a taste for discovery. She broke ties with her family to marry the son of a Qing dynasty general her father opposed, and served as their military adviser. Ultimately for performing so well, she was granted a diplomatic post. Over the next decade she traveled the world, developing a reputation for brutality that preceded her in most conflicts. Using piracy as a cover for her political activities, she banded with any who might serve her ultimate desire for negotiated order.

In the West Indies of 1717, she fell under the interest of a rumored cache of treasure, and feigned a romantic relationship with one-time Assassin, Vance Travers, to gain access to it. Under the suspicion of Jing being a Templar, Vance's brother, Upton, ordered Edward Kenway to have them both killed. Edward shortly assassinated her to collect a Templar key.

In 2013, her genetic memories were used as an Animi Avatar by the entertainment branch of the Templar company Abstergo Industries, to influence the general public via the Animus game console, under the title of the Orchid.

Trivia
*Jing is the pinyin transliteration of multiple Chinese surnames, the exact surname in this case being unknown. Likewise, Lang is a transliteration of various homophonic Mandarin words. However, the title of her Animi Avatar indicates that her name may perhaps be 蘭 (Simplified Chinese characters: 兰) meaning "orchid", though it is properly transliterated as Lán.
The Eight Tigers were a powerful group of eunuch administrators that controlled the Chinese Templars and the Chinese imperial court during the reign of the Ming dynasty Zhengde Emperor.

Originaly led by Liu Jin, who wasn't a Templar himself, the group leadership was taken over by Zhong Yang in 1510, when the latter betrayed Liu by denouncing a plot against the Emperor, leading to his execution.
