'''Dame Evie Frye''' (9 November 1847 – unknown) was a [[Master Assassin]] of the [[British Assassins|British Brotherhood]], active in [[London]] during the [[Victorian era]], and the elder twin sister of [[Jacob Frye]]. She was also a member of the [[Order of the Sacred Garter]], and the grand-aunt of [[Lydia Frye]].

Originating from [[Crawley]], Evie and her brother traveled to London to liberate London from the Templars' control and help the poverty-stricken masses, following the death of their father. To accomplish this, she and Jacob founded the [[Rooks]], a criminal syndicate that opposed the Templar-backed [[Blighters]].

During their time in London, the twins came into contact with many historical figures such as biologist [[Charles Darwin]], the novelist [[Charles Dickens]], the inventor [[Alexander Graham Bell]], [[Metropolitan Police Service|Sergeant]] [[Frederick Abberline]], the nurse [[Florence Nightingale]], and [[Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom|Queen Victoria]] herself.

Evie was born four minutes before her brother Jacob. Due to their mother, [[Cecily Frye|Cecily]]'s death after childbirth, the twins were raised by their grandmother in Crawley until the age of six, after which they were trained by their father, [[Ethan Frye]], in the ways of the Assassins. Evie relished in her father's lessons and gravitated in planning and research on the Brotherhood, and the [[Pieces of Eden]], unlike the carefree Jacob.<ref name="ACS">''[[Assassin's Creed: Syndicate]]''</ref>

Early in her career as an Assassin, Evie assassinated her first target, an abusive mill owner who refused to provide adequate wages to his workers. The mill owner was eventually replaced by an Assassin.<ref name="ACS"/>

Upon gaining access to the laboratory, Evie assassinated Brewster, who was experimenting with the artifact on a machine and destabilizing it, causing the machine to malfunction and explode. She later returned to Westhouse and Jacob to report her accomplishment. The twins shared impatience on traveling to London, an idea which Westhouse disagreed, warning the siblings that it was not Ethan's wish for them. Adamant to continue her father's legacy, Evie accompanied Jacob in hitching a train heading to London.<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins arrived in [[Whitechapel]] and decided to seek out the [[Assassin leader]] [[Jayadeep Mir|Henry Green]] who apprised them on the Templar control over London. Evie contradicted her brother's proposal in creating a gang called the Rooks to challenge the [[Blighters]], instead suggesting to recover Pieces of Eden. The trio bumped into the writer Charles Dickens and Blighters thugs. Evie joined her brother in driving a [[Wagon|carriage]] to distract them in chasing Henry, destroying Blighters' carriages in the process. Returning to Henry's shop, the Assassins discussed their contacts within the city.<ref name="ACS"/>

They later met with a disguised Frederick Abberline, the Chief of Metropolitan Police Service in a back alley. Abberline gave them a list of notable Blighters members whom they kidnapped. Following this, Evie and Jacob contacted their young ally [[Clara O'Dea]] in Babylon Alley for information in exchange for freeing children from labor in the factories. After eliminating the rest of the Blighters and their leader [[Rexford Kaylock]]'s control of Whitechapel, the duo formed the Rooks.<ref name="ACS"/>

The Assassins took ownership of the former Blighters [[Trains|train]], making it their hideout, and allied with [[Agnes MacBean]] who provided her financial services. Jacob and Evie further traveled to [[Southwark]] to meet Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Green's associate, to fix the broken rope launcher and attach it to their [[Hidden Blade]] bracers.<ref name="ACS"/>

In return for his aid, Evie assisted Bell in setting up a free telegraph line for companies competing against Starrick Telegraph Company to use, by installing new fuses in the [[Elizabeth Tower|Clock Tower]] of the [[Palace of Westminster]], while at the same time suggesting that he rename his phonetic telegraph as the telephone. Returning to Bell's carriage, the latter showed Evie his [[Bombs|smoke bombs]] and provided her the formula. Evie then made her way to a Blighter stronghold to loot metal components and returned to Bell's workshop. The twins headed to their hideout where they were greeted by [[Ned Wynert]], who gave them his business card. The Assassins began planning their next move, Evie focusing on recovering precursor artifacts.<ref name="ACS"/>

===Hunt for Pieces of Eden===

Seeing Jacob's plan to destroy the Templars a brash and reckless idea, the siblings were in disagreement. They headed to Alexander Graham Bell who added a dart mechanism to their gauntlets. They aided the inventor by recovering cable lines taken by the Blighters in the College Wharf, in addition to discovering a poison shipment from [[Crawford Starrick]].<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins decided to recover an artifact from Lucy Thorne's shipments. As Jacob eliminated the guards, Evie searched the chest and found documents and a [[Edward Kenway's journal|book]] with an [[Assassin insignia]] on the cover. Unfortunately, more Blighters came, forcing the twins to take the carriage. Evie took the defense while Jacob took the reins. Ultimately, they were forced to abandon the carriage, along with the documents, but Evie managed to keep the Assassin book.<ref name="ACS"/>

After returning to the hideout, Evie investigated the journal with Henry Green, finding a hidden map using her [[Eagle Vision]] which led to the Assassin [[Edward Kenway]]'s [[Kenway Mansion|mansion]]. They discovered that Lucy Thorne and the Blighters had taken control of the mansion which forced them to sneak inside and scrutinize the Kenway's memorabilia for clues. Evie deciphered a code on the piano which opened a hatch in the floor. The Assassins managed to recover documents and an artifact before the Templars discovered the hatch, escaping through tunnels below the mansion.<ref name="ACS"/>

Continuing their fight against Starrick and his control of the press, Evie and Jacob returned to Bell's laboratory where the latter told them Starrick's efforts of bribery to coax the inventor to his side. This caused him to invent voltaic bombs to stun assailants and offered them to the twins with insulators to protect the Assassins from harm. Soon enough, the infuriated Blighters arrived; they took this as an opportunity to test the bombs as Bell distracted them through talking.<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins further aided the inventor in the telegraph station to keep Starrick from spreading false information throughout London and show people the truth about his operations by distracting the guards and defending Bell with their newly acquired weapon.<ref name="ACS"/>

Much later, Evie visited the [[Lambeth Asylum]] after Jacob's assassination of Dr. [[John Elliotson]] where she saw an ill Clara O'Dea who came searching for medicine for the children in her care. However, Clara fainted in Evie's arms. Fortunately, the door to the hospital was opened by a woman who identified herself as Florence Nightingale and asked the Assassin to recover supplies for the cure.<ref name="ACS"/>

Evie continued her investigation, with the documents leading her to a contraption for a puzzle in the [[St Paul's Cathedral]]. After solving the gear puzzle, she discovered a precursor necklace at the top of the cathedral. Unfortunately, Lucy Thorne arrived and the two dueled which resulted in Thorne escaping with the necklace.<ref name="ACS"/>

===Search for the Shroud===

Sometime after Jacob's assassination of [[Pearl Attaway]] and shutting down of her omnibus company, Evie visited Southwark, finding [[Edward Bayley]] being harassed by the Blighters. She chased the Blighters on a carriage as defended Bayley. The pair rode to Attaway's former omnibus factory to steal the deed and return it to Bayley, safeguarding the businessman's family from the Templars. Grateful to his savior, Bayley introduced Evie to the founders of the London General Omnibus Company, notifying her of their endeavor to supply the needed omnibuses for the city. Realizing that her brother had caused more problems for the citizens with his assassinations, Evie warned Jacob of the consequences of his actions.<ref name="ACS"/>

Much later, Evie and Henry Green researched the precursor necklace Lucy Thorne stole. Green commented that it matched the casket owned by Queen Victoria kept in the [[Tower of London]]. Evie infiltrated the fortress, witnessing the disguised Blighters taking the place of aware guards and searching for the casket. Eventually, she managed to assassinate Lucy Thorne who mocked the Assassins of not using the capabilities of the precursor artifacts. The Royal Guards eventually regained control, forcing the Blighters into combat and Evie to escape on a [[Riverboats|riverboat]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Evie met with Frederick Abberline, learning from the sergeant that Jacob's actions had caused major turmoil in the citizens of London, despite Evie's warnings to her brother. She was forced to recover the currency printing plates, which Jacob was accused of stealing. Abberline also requested her to destroy counterfeit notes while she was at it. Evie then tailed the counterfeiter's carriage and finished Abberline's request.<ref name="ACS"/>

Continuing her search, Evie and Henry congregated with the Prince Escort [[Duleep Singh]] who had a lead on the location of the Shroud's [[Buckingham Palace crypt|crypt]] in [[Buckingham Palace]]. Duleep informed the pair that their plans were removed by Starrick but he had their location. Henry provided a distraction for Evie to sneak past the guards and recover the documents. Still unable to find the documents, Evie kidnapped a Templar guard only to discover that Henry had been kidnapped.<ref name="ACS"/>

Abandoning her mission, Evie decided to rescue Henry instead. Some of Clara O'Dea's urchins witnessed his kidnapping and told Evie to follow the cart's wobbly tracks. She had to interview witnesses to unveil Henry's location. Evie finally tracked him down the tunnels beneath the church and escorted him to escape. She advised her fellow Assassin to let Florence Nightingale heal his head injury while she contacted the Maharaja again.<ref name="ACS"/>

Eventually, Evie aided her brother and the Rooks in taking control of London's boroughs during gang wars against the Blighters by eliminating their Templar leaders [[Bloody Nora]], [[Lilla Graves]], [[Victor Lynch]], [[Octavia Plumb]], [[Cletus Strain]] and [[Edith Swinebourne]].<ref name="ACS"/>

===Assassinating Crawford Starrick===
With most of the Templars now eliminated by Jacob and Starrick the only threat left, Evie discussed the situation of the Shroud in the palace, only to find Jacob uninterested. Annoyed, she scolded her brother with his reckless planning and mistakes Evie was forced to fix. Evie mentioned their father, much to Jacob's irritation and the twins argued. Henry calmed them down and notified them of a ball to be held in the palace which Starrick was planning to enter, stealing the Shroud and eliminating the heads of church and government.<ref name="ACS"/>

Using this as an opportunity to recover the Piece of Eden, Evie and Jacob joined forces and invited [[Benjamin Disraeli|Benjamin]] and [[Mary Anne Disraeli]], the prime minister and his wife, to their hideout. There, they expressed their need to enter the ball and offered to steal the invitations of [[Catherine Gladstone|Catherine]] and [[William Gladstone]], which the couple gladly approved. As Jacob recovered the invitations, Evie visited the Maharaja for a second set of plans.<ref name="ACS"/>

Duleep Singh told her, however, that he had a matter of urgency that would require stealth and speed - acquiring a royal carriage to drive politicians to their destinations in exchange for the information. Evie complied as Singh rode the carriage and talked to the politicians as they rode around London. With the job completed, the Maharaja told her of the plans' location with the Queen.<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins successfully managed to infiltrate the ball using the Gladstones' carriage and invitations. Evie then headed off to locate the plans in a white drawing room. Due to the restrictions of her dress, Evie was forced to kidnap one of the royal guards to get inside the room and steal the plans. On her way back down to the party, she bumped into Mary Anne Disraeli who introduced her to the Queen, who knew of their dealings with Gladstone.<ref name="ACS"/>

Politely excusing herself, Evie continued her way towards the vault entrance only to be grabbed by Crawford Starrick himself. The Templar [[Grand Master]] offered her a dance and told her that people would never change and that as soon as the dance ended, the snipers he had in place would end her life. Fortunately, Jacob came to her rescue, eliminating the snipers with his recovered weapons. However, Starrick managed to steal the precursor necklace from Evie.<ref name="ACS"/>

After changing her clothes, she immediately dashed towards the vault to save Jacob from the hands of Starrick. However, Starrick had activated the vault's precursor defense mechanism which sent Jacob sprawling to the floor. Evie fought the Templar one on one but the Shroud prevented her from dealing much damage. Crawford grabbed Evie by the neck but was stopped by Jacob. After exchanging more blows with Starrick, the two of them were trapped.<ref name="ACS"/>

Fortunately, Henry Green arrived, throwing a [[Throwing knives|knife]] at the Templar. Joining the fight, Henry too was knocked off his feet by the Templar. Evie and Jacob joined forces to remove the Shroud and eventually assassinate Starrick. By working together, the rift between the twins vanished. As Jacob returned the Shroud, Evie aided Henry and the two Assassins shared a kiss.<ref name="ACS"/>

Shortly thereafter, the three Assassins met with Queen Victoria, who was grateful to her saviors. She knighted them to her Order of the Sacred Garter and promised to call upon them for more work in the future. The twins then raced off to their hideout, leaving Henry behind.<ref name="ACS"/>

===Pursuing Jack the Ripper===
Following the defeat of Crawford Starrick, Evie and Jacob continued to operate in London. However, after her betrothal to Henry, she eventually relocated to [[India]] and became affiliated with [[Indian Assassins]]. In 1888, however, Evie was summoned by Jacob in the wake of the [[Whitechapel murders]]. After returning to London, she converged with Inspector Frederick Abberline, who brought her up to speed with the serial killer [[Jack the Ripper]] and informed her that Jacob was nowhere to be found. She then followed the Inspector to the murder scene of the Ripper's first victim, [[Mary Ann Nichols]]. Abberline informed her that the woman murdered was not the Mary Ann Nichols he knew. Upon inspection, Evie found an Assassin ring and deduced that the victim was an [[Mary Ann Nichols (Assassin)|undercover Assassin]].<ref name="JR"/>

Having been tipped off by Abberline, Evie went to investigate Jacob's Whitechapel lodgings, in hopes of discovering a clue as to where the Ripper was. There, she found one of the Ripper's letters, a photograph of her, Jacob, Henry and an initiate nicknamed "Jack the Lad" in India, and a letter to her hidden under a statuette of the goddess Kali. After reading Jacob's letter, Evie sought the [[Courtesans|prostitute]] [[Nellie]], who had been escorted to the Kenway Mansion where Lady [[Olwyn Owers]] was giving a speech. She spoke with Nellie and learned that killing Lady Owers was necessary to find Jacob. Evie then chased a carriage thought to have been occupied by Lady Owers, and upon hijacking it, realized Nellie was inside. Nellie then told Evie that Lady Owers had fled to her [[Owers Manor|manor]] northwest of London.<ref name="JR"/>

Evie infiltrated the manor and assassinated Lady Owers, procuring a photograph with scratched out individuals save for [[Arthur Weaversbrook]]. Evie concluded that Weaversbrook was to be kidnapped and returned to London to save him. She met with Abberline to find out through newspaper that she had been framed for a massacre at Owers Manor that took place shortly after her departure. She then found and intercepted a tense Weaversbrook near St. Paul's, who informed her that the Ripper had his son and led her to the young Weaversbrook's last location near the docks. After rescuing Weaversbrook's son, Evie learned that Jack was keeping others hostage in old hulk prison ships and an abandoned garrison in Deptford.<ref name="JR"/>

Traveling downriver to the Deptford docks, Evie questioned the hostages found on the prison ships, who told here they were being forced to write letters to their family's with demands from the Ripper. She then decided to assassinate chief warder [[John Billingsworth]] of the nearby garrison. Fatally wounded soon after, a dying Billingsworth informed Evie of Jack's tutelage by Jacob. She then telephoned the Metropolitan Police Service, who informed her that Jack had struck again, and requested they send men to the docks to free the hostages.<ref name="JR"/>

Soon after her return to the city, Evie rendezvoused with Inspector Abberline and his officers at the murder scene of [[Mary Kelly]]. Through further investigation, Evie was able to find a message left for her by Jack meant to lead her to the scenes of his first victims. At the murder scenes of [[Annie Chapman]] and [[Catherine Eddowes]] and [[Elizabeth Stride]], Evie discovered their tossed Assassin rings and, at the latter scene, yet another message from Jack, which in turn led her to the scene of his mother's murder. There, she was caught off guard by an unexpected [[Fear bombs|fear bomb]], which induced hallucinations in her mind. Once the hallucinations wore off, Evie came to the conclusion that Jack was at the Lambeth Asylum.<ref name="JR"/>

With the inmates of Lambeth Asylum released, Evie sneaked by a throng of lunatics undetected and made her way to the madhouse's lowest area. Having found a heavily wounded Jacob imprisoned in a cell, she first went into the basement to face off against Jack. Initially unable to face Jack in direct combat, Evie used stealth and cunning to ambush Jack until she eventually took his dagger and, with a volley of cuts and stabs, brought an end to the Ripper's life. Thereafter, she went back to her nearly unconscious brother and was met by Inspector Abberline, with reporters in tow. In order to protect the Brotherhood from backlash and discovery, Evie asked Abberline to keep Jack's death and identity a secret, not wanting the public to know of the Ripper's Assassin allegiance.<ref name="JR"/>

She planned her missions carefully and patiently, considering every angle to ensure the best chance of success. By contrast, her brother Jacob was much quicker to spring into action, yet his plans lacked sufficient forethought as a result. While the twins' means were frequently at odds, their motivations were the same, and the pair were at their most effective when they worked together, as they balanced each other out.<ref name="ACS"/>

A Master Assassin proficient with the Hidden Blade, Evie was able to assassinate her targets skilfully and stealthily. She excelled at masking her presence, to such an extent that [[guards]] were unable to notice her as long as she remained still.<ref name="ACS"/>

A skilled [[Freerunning|freerunner]], she was able to instantly scale the building of london aswell as natural elements - including trees - with relative ease, as such she was able to transverse over and under several obstacles aswell as moving terrains. Additionaly she proved to be a capable [[Swimming|swimmer]]. Evie also proved efficient in [[pickpocketing]] and [[lockpicking]].

As the carrying of weapons openly was forbidden at the time, she relied on an arsenal of hidden tools, much like her brother. Evie was capable of using dual Hidden Blades, a [[cane-sword]], a [[Kukri]], [[firearms]], [[brass knuckles]], throwing knives, smoke bombs and voltaic bombs, which let loose a blast of electricity upon impact. Her Hidden Blade was also equipped with a rope launcher, allowing her to scale buildings quickly as well as create [[ziplines]], and could fire [[Poison darts|hallucinogenic darts]].<ref name="ACS"/>

While her brother specialized in brutal and straightforward weaponry like the brass knuckles and the firearms, Evie's stealthy nature led her to prefer more subtle tools like the cane-sword and throwing knives. She was especially proficient with the latter, being able to carry a larger amount and hit targets at a greater range than her brother.<ref name="ACS"/>

Evie also possessed the rare ability of Eagle Vision.<ref name="ACS"/>

During her time in London, Evie grew increasingly fond of her fellow Assassin Henry Green, with whom she frequently worked together in studying and locating the Pieces of Eden. Eager to have this partnership continue beyond research, she encouraged him to go out in the field with her, despite his own beliefs that he was not as well suited to it. When Henry later disappeared during one of their missions, Evie abandoned the original objective to save him from his captors, a decision she later came to question.<ref name="ACS"/>

Realizing that her feelings for Henry affected her ability to judge situations objectively, which her father had warned her against during her youth, Evie broke off the partnership and went out into the field by herself once more. However, after speaking extensively with Duleep Singh, she came to question her strict adherence to her father's words.<ref name="ACS"/>

When Henry came to her and Jacob's rescue in their final confrontation with Starrick, Evie realized she wanted to be with him after all; once Starrick had been assassinated, she thanked Henry for saving them both, before kissing him. Sometime later, Henry proposed to her with a bouquet of flowers at the train hideout, to which she accepted, and the two of them went to India in 1868.<ref name="ACS"/>

After arriving in [[Whitechapel]], the twins sought out the [[Assassin leader|leader]], and sole remaining Assassin in London, [[Jayadeep Mir|Henry Green]]. Informed of the Templars' vast control over the city, Jacob proposed to form a gang called the Rooks to challenge the Blighters' power in the area, disagreeing with Evie's plan to recover [[Pieces of Eden]]. While discussing this, the three Assassins bumped into the writer Charles Dickens who invited them for a talk sometime. After losing the Blighters tailing them, the twins joined Henry in his shop, where he explained his array of contacts within the city.<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins later encountered a disguised Sergeant [[Frederick Abberline]], who gave them a list of Blighters, whom they could kidnap and bring to him for arrest, preferring living to dead. Jacob and Evie also liberated abused children from the local factories, in order to satisfy their young contact [[Clara O'Dea]], in exchange for access to her network of child informants. Following a street battle with Kaylock's Blighters, from which they emerged victorious, the Assassins won the gang leader's personal train, and decided to utilize it as their hideout, gaining [[Agnes MacBean]]'s services as a financier in the process. They proceeded to travel to [[Southwark]] to meet Henry Green's accomplice and inventor, Alexander Graham Bell, to fix the broken rope launcher for use on their [[Hidden Blade]] bracers.<ref name="ACS"/>

After Bell returned from installing fuses with Evie, the inventor showed Jacob the first messages of the telegraph and made him a second new rope launcher. The twins then headed to their hideout where they met [[Ned Wynert]], an American transgender entrepreneur, who gave them his business card. The Assassins planned their next motive, with Jacob determined to strengthen the Rooks and eliminate [[Crawford Starrick]]'s associates within London's infrastructure, whilst Evie searched for the [[Shrouds of Eden|Shroud of Eden]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Although in disagreement with Evie's hunt for Pieces of Eden, Jacob aided his sister in recovering an artifact from the Templar occultist [[Lucy Thorne]]'s shipments. He eliminated the guards as Evie searched the chests. However, he was caught and chased by Blighters as he returned to Evie, forcing the twins to flee on a carriage; Jacob took the reins while Evie acted on the defense. Ultimately, their pursuers were closing in, forcing the twins to abandon the carriage and its cargo, though Evie managed to keep hold of a journal belonging to the late [[Edward Kenway]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob began his investigation into the source of ''[[Starrick's Soothing Syrup]]'', which was ravaging London's poor districts. After chasing a [[Merchants|merchant]] and locating the distributor to the factory, stealing his files in the process, Jacob managed to track down and kidnap the distribution boss in the Southwark Foundry, learning from him that Starrick's Soothing Syrup was produced in the distillation building.<ref name="ACS"/>

Arriving there, Jacob witnessed an elderly man attempting to break inside, and hiding when the guards appeared. After eliminating the Blighters guarding the place, Jacob broke the lock of the factory and entered with the man. The duo investigated the tank and its ingredients, learning that the Syrup contained opium, turning it into an addictive and deadly substance. While the man hid near the entrance, Jacob turned the pressure valves, destroying the distillation tanks and setting fire to the building, which Jacob narrowly escaped by jumping through a window. The man introduced himself as Charles Darwin, who showed the Assassin a document that indicated batches of the Syrup were sent to the [[Lambeth Asylum]].<ref name="ACS"/>

He later found Darwin arguing with the asylum owner, [[Richard Owen]], whose carriage Jacob chased and hijacked, damaging it to scare Owen into revealing the creator of the Syrup - the doctor [[John Elliotson]].<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins visited Bell, who upgraded their bracers with a dart mechanism capable of firing [[Poison darts|hallucinogenic darts]]. Jacob and Evie provided assistance to the inventor by recovering cable lines taken by the Blighters in the shipments in College Wharf. They also discovered poison in the shipments from Starrick.<ref name="ACS"/>

After informing Darwin of his latest exploits regarding his hunt for the Syrup creator, Jacob infiltrated the asylum, where he discovered the doctors brutally experimenting on patients for medical purposes. He assassinated Elliotson, who mocked him, calling him childish for not thinking of the consequences of his actions.<ref name="ACS"/>

Continuing their fight against Starrick and his control of the press, the twins returned to Bell's laboratory where the latter told Jacob of Starrick's efforts of bribery to coax the inventor to his side. Aware of the Blighters aiming to attack him, he invented [[Bombs|voltaic bombs]] which would stun assailants and offered them to the twins with insulators to protect the Assassins from harm. Suddenly, the infuriated Blighters arrived; they took this as an opportunity to test the bombs as Bell distracted them through talking.<ref name="ACS"/>

The Assassins further aided the inventor in the telegraph station to keep Starrick from spreading false information throughout London and show people the truth about his operations by distracting the guards and defending Bell with their newly acquired weapon.<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob introduced himself to Starrick's fierce business competitor, [[Pearl Attaway]], unaware that she was a Templar and the [[Grand Master]]'s cousin, to discuss a business preposition. He killed an employee of Attaway's rival company, [[Millner Company]]. The pair traveled to Millner's storage yard where Jacob destroyed their enemy's omnibuses, making [[Malcolm Millner]]'s profit plummet quickly.<ref name="ACS" />

Soon enough, Jacob suddenly entered Attaway's carriage, obviously disregarding her request for an appointment. The businesswoman gave him a job to secure internal combustion engines being delivered to Millner. Knowing the man he needed, Jacob freed the arrested Ned Wynert from his police convoy and asked for his aid to transfer the package cargo. Climbing aboard the moving Blighters train, the young man searched the cargo for the engines and detached its wagon for Ned's train to recover.<ref name="ACS" />

Attaway tasked Jacob in murdering Millner who was in the [[River Thames]] with his [[Riverboats|ferry]], the only business he had left. Jacob sabotaged the contraband on the boat to lure Millner outside where he assassinated him. The dying businessman revealed that Crawford and Attaway were family and allies. Dismayed, Jacob located Attaway and overheard her conversation with Starrick that she was a Templar. Finally, he headed to the [[Waterloo station]] to assassinate Attaway, recovered the engines and escaped with the train.<ref name="ACS" />

===Reclaiming control of London===
Jacob targeted the financial field of Starrick, kidnapping a man to gather intel; the man, however, was Frederick Abberline who was once again in disguise. The sergeant informed the Assassin of a planned robbery of the {{Wiki|Bank of England}}. As the information was confidential, Jacob talked him into revealing the supplier - Cockham Merchants.<ref name="ACS" />

He later met again with Abberline to continue their investigation. Jacob located the smuggled weapons and tailed their delivery to the Templar [[Philip Twopenny]], under the alias of Plutus. Left with no choice but to stop the heist, Jacob infiltrated the Bank of England and assassinated Twopenny, giving the dead man a coin in mockery to the man's beliefs. As Jacob escaped, Abberline arrested Twopenny's accomplices.<ref name="ACS" />

Desperate to regain control, Crawford Starrick now entered England's politics, plotting against Queen Victoria for his own profit. As Jacob's latest exploits was to now meddle with the Parliament, Evie warned her brother of the consequences of his latest actions: the increase of fraud medicine, transportation and production problems, and the near collapse of the British currency, problems she mostly fixed.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob proceeded in spying on the prime minister of London within the [[Sinopean Club]], following [[Benjamin Disraeli]] and a spy walk out from the meeting. He tackled the man, assuming it was the Templar associate "B", who told him that he was just paid by another man. He was suddenly shot in the head by a sniper. Jacob then chased the sniper, threatening to throw her off the roof to reveal information. The scared woman admitted that she did not know her employer, only giving a description of his appearance. but they were planned to attack the prime minister's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

Infiltrating Disraeli's carriage, Jacob pretended to be the prime minister's bodyguard. Disraeli was suspicious of the Assassin however, unlike his wife [[Mary Anne Disraeli|Mary Anne]] who let Jacob speak. There was a sudden gunshot from outside, coming from the police and the Blighters. Jacob defended the Disraelis and chased their hijacked carriage, securing the couple's safety. Jacob then asked Mary Anne for the Templar affiliate he was searching for and the woman agreed in exchange for a tour of the [[Devil's Acre]].<ref name="ACS" />

The following night, Jacob arrived at their meeting place, but Mary Anne canceled the tour due to scandal-seeking journalists. The Assassin, unable to hurt the journalists, distracted them instead and returned to Mary Anne's carriage. Escaping more journalists, the pair eventually arrived in Devil's Acre and avoided the Blighter thugs on patrol. They later settled to a [[Taverns|tavern]] where Mary Ann's purse, containing her dog [[Desmond]], was stolen. After recovering the dog, Jacob returned only to find Mary Anne advising the thugs. Their misfortune was succeeded by the Blighters chasing their carriage. With the tour coming to an end, Mary Anne revealed the man Jacob was seeking for - the [[James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan|Earl of Cardigan]], who was currently working within the [[Palace of Westminster]].<ref name="ACS" />

Stealthily infiltrating the Palace of Westminster, Jacob eventually made his way to the Earl and assassinated him. The Earl called him a coward and dramatically announced his death, much to Jacob's irritation. Having done his task, Jacob escaped the palace's guards and Blighter patrols. Unbeknownst to him, his action caused major turmoil in the citizens of London, another problem Evie had to fix for him.<ref name="ACS" />

Moving to his next target, Jacob accepted London's biggest criminal mastermind and Blighter leader [[Maxwell Roth]]'s invitation for dinner, who found Jacob's accomplishments magnificent. He offered the Assassin a partnership which Jacob accepted. The duo rode into the night to St. Pancras station, where Jacob blew up shipments of explosives belonging to Starrick and Co. With the explosives dealt with, Jacob went to kidnap a driver to deliver the train to Roth.<ref name="ACS" />

The pair continued their goal to overthrow Starrick's control over London with theft in mind. Roth explained his plan to kidnap three of the Grand Master's henchmen: [[Hattie Cadwallader]], [[Benjamin Raffles]] and [[Chester Swinebourne]]; a task which Jacob accomplished, delivering the trio to Roth's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Jacob found Roth's tactics brutal and selfish. He decided to severe the agreement after Roth's unconcern in destroying a factory with innocent laboring children inside. Jacob, opposing Roth's idea of sacrificing innocents for Starrick's downfall, refused, forcing Roth to ignite the explosives himself and Jacob to save the children from the building. He was then given a letter by Roth in the form of a gift, with the corpse of Roth's pet bird inside.<ref name="ACS" />

To celebrate Starrick's loss and the end of Jacob's partnership, Roth called for a masquerade party in the [[Alhambra Music Hall]]. Jacob took this opportunity to assassinate the Blighter and his decoys during the performance. Roth, now mad with the goal to murder his audience and Jacob, set fire to the stage. Jacob then used his blade to end Roth's life who in turn kissed Jacob, telling him his reason of killing innocents was just because he wanted to. The Assassin narrowly escaped the flaming theater.<ref name="ACS" />

With his sister, the Rooks eventually took control of London's boroughs, eliminating the Blighters threat with their Templar leaders [[Bloody Nora]], [[Lilla Graves]], [[Victor Lynch]], [[Octavia Plumb]], [[Cletus Strain]] and [[Edith Swinebourne]] by launching a gang war between the two rivals.<ref name="ACS" />

===Assassinating Crawford Starrick===
After assassinating Maxwell Roth, Jacob returned to Evie, who scolded him with his disinterest in the Shroud and reckless planning. Evie mentioned their father, a sore topic for Jacob, and the siblings argued. Henry calmed them down and told them about a ball to be held in [[Buckingham Palace]] where Starrick was planning to steal the Piece of Eden and eliminate the heads of church and government.<ref name="ACS" />

Finding this a good opportunity to assassinate Starrick, Jacob formulated a plan with Evie and invited the Disraelis to their hideout. The twins told them their need to enter the ball and offered their plan to steal the invitations of [[Catherine Gladstone|Catherine]] and [[William Gladstone]], much to the Disraelis' glad approval.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob then headed to the Gladstones' house to recover the invitations and eventually tracked Mrs. Gladstone and hijacked her carriage. Finding that weaponry was not allowed in the ball, Jacob asked Frederick Abberline for ideas and the latter told him to acquire the royal guards' uniform. The Assassin proceeded to St. Martin's Church, stole one, giving it to Abberline.<ref name="ACS" />

The twins successfully managed to infiltrate the ball using the Gladstones' carriage and invitations. Jacob sought out Frederick Abberline for their smuggled weapons. The sergeant told Jacob that Starrick had disguised his own men with the royal guards. The Assassin came to the rescue, killing all of the impostors. Afterwards, Jacob sent his sister a signal.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Evie lost her Precursor necklace to Starrick and ordered her brother to locate the [[Buckingham Palace crypt|crypt]]. Jacob made his way to the vault, finding Starrick with the Shroud. He failed to attack the Templar; instead, Starrick choked him. The vault's activated defense mechanism sent Jacob sprawling to the floor. Finally recovering, Jacob had to save his sister in return from the clutch of Starrick. After exchanging more blows with Starrick, the two of them were trapped.<ref name="ACS" />

Fortunately, Henry Green arrived, throwing a [[Throwing knives|knife]] at the Templar. Joining the fight, Henry too was knocked off his feet by the Templar. Jacob and Evie continued the fight and manged to remove the Shroud and end Starrick's life. With the Templar threat gone, the rift between the siblings vanished. Jacob returned the Shroud as Evie attended at Henry's side.<ref name="ACS" />

A short time later, the three Assassins met with Queen Victoria, who was grateful to her saviors. The queen knighted them to her Order of the Sacred Garter. The twins then raced off to their hideout, leaving Henry behind.<ref name="ACS" />

===Rebuilding the London Brotherhood===
With the Templar Grand Master eliminated, the twins continued their struggle to help London's underclass. The Fryes soon distanced themselves from Queen Victoria to avoid their cooperation furthering imperial interests but the British capital itself entered a twenty year period of relative peace.<ref name="JR">''Assassin's Creed: Syndicate'' - ''[[Jack the Ripper (DLC)|Jack the Ripper]]''</ref>

During that time, Jacob and Evie would eventually go their separate ways with Evie and Henry relocating to [[India]] while Jacob remained in the city to maintain the Rooks and reinforce the Brotherhood with new [[apprentices]]. He also had at least one child, a son, who was also invested into the Assassin Order.<ref name="JR" />

One of his initiates was a young boy from the Lambeth Asylum nicknamed "[[Jack the Ripper|Jack the Lad]]" and together with new initiates, Jacob joined his sister in India in order to learn the fear tactics of the [[Indian Assassins]].<ref name="JR" />

===Autumn of Terror===
Sometime after returning to London, Jacob came to blows with his apprentice Jack, who had developed an extremist view of the Assassins' mission and his own warped variant of [[the Creed]]. He eventually lost control of the Rooks to Jack, who intended to use the gang to further his goals. In retaliation, Jacob sent a few of his female initiates after him, disguised as [[Courtesans|prostitutes]]. His efforts proved to be in vain, however, with Jack brutally eliminating all opposition sent his way. This marked the beginning of the [[Whitechapel murders]], otherwise known as the Autumn of Terror.<ref name="JR" />

On the night of 30 September 1888, Jacob approached the journalist [[Arthur Weaversbrook]], who had been publishing Jack's letters for the public to read. He demanded that Weaversbrook discontinue the publishing of the letters and berated him for turning Jack into a legend.<ref name="JR" />

After his conversation with Weaversbrook, Jacob caught wind of a peering Jack nearby and rushed to his Whitechapel lodgings. Midway, a fight broke out in a cemetery, where Jack injured Jacob and gained the upper hand. Jacob continued to flee and escaped to his lodgings via horse-drawn carriage. There, an injured Jacob was ambushed and overpowered in combat, resulting in him being kidnapped and locked away in a cell beneath Lambeth Asylum.<ref name="JR" />

Prior to his abduction, Jacob had requested the return of his sister. Honoring the request, Evie began searching for him and investigating the murder scenes of Jack's many victims. Jacob was eventually located by his sister, barely alive and in a semi-conscious state. After killing Jack and his accomplices, Evie went to help her brother and, with the aid of Inspector Frederick Abberline, obscured the identity of the Ripper to prevent the potential compromising of the Brotherhood.<ref name="JR" />

Jacob was an impulsive, reckless and rebellious individual with a quick wit and an aggressive demeanor. While he was brought up as an Assassin, Jacob grew up under a strict lifestyle that restricted his active behavior. As a result, he began to resent his father as well as his teachings, and usually lost his composure when Evie brought their deceased father into their arguments. Furthermore, he did not appear to be a fervent believer in [[the Creed]]'s tenets like his sister, preferring action over philosophical thoughts and a good fight over discretion. As such, he was easily dismissive of Pieces of Eden, preferring to focus on his targets.<ref name="ACS" />

Coupled with his reckless behavior, Jacob remained oblivious to the chaos created by his actions. Assassinating Starrick's Templar associates created as much harm as good, and when brought up by Evie, Jacob simply dismissed them. Instead, he justified his actions by claiming he was doing something proactive in toppling Starrick's power, unlike Evie who was obsessed in tracking down the Pieces of Eden.<ref name="ACS" />

However, complementing his impulsive and reckless behavior, Jacob was very good at thinking on his feet, part of the reason he survived his own recklessness. Also, as a gang leader, Jacob proved himself as a criminal strategist and organizer.<ref name="ACS" />

While "having fun" was very important to Jacob, he was not above altruistic acts and fighting for the disenfranchised. Furthermore, he had no desire to harm any innocent civilians, cutting off all ties with Maxwell Roth for doing so. Upon seeing how dangerous Roth's anarchism was, Jacob finally realized the flaw in his own idea of freedom. As such, he came to understand the tenets of the Creed, and acknowledged that his father was right all along.<ref name="ACS" />

Having been trained by the Brotherhood from birth, Jacob was a Master Assassin adept at both stealth and combat, despite his preference for the latter, he proved efficient in the use of the [[Hidden Blade]] as he could eliminate his targets with great skill. He also proved capable in [[eavesdropping]], [[pickpocketing]] and [[lockpicking]]. <ref name="ACS" />

He was a skilled [[Freerunning|freerunner]], able to scale the tall buildings of London aswell as climb natural elements - including trees - with relative ease. Quick and athletic, he was able to instantly transverse over and under several obstacles as well as moving terrains, additionaly he proved to be a capable [[Swimming|swimmer]].

After arriving in [[Whitechapel]], the twins sought out the [[Assassin leader|leader]], and sole remaining Assassin in London, [[Jayadeep Mir|Henry Green]]. Informed of the Templars' vast control over the city, Jacob proposed to form a gang called the Rooks to challenge the Blighters' power in the area, disagreeing with Evie's plan to recover [[Pieces of Eden]]. While discussing this, the three Assassins bumped into the writer Charles Dickens who invited them for a talk sometime. After losing the Blighters tailing them, the twins joined Henry in his shop, where he explained his array of contacts within the city.<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins later encountered a disguised Sergeant [[Frederick Abberline]], who gave them a list of Blighters, whom they could kidnap and bring to him for arrest, preferring living to dead. Following a street battle with Kaylock's Blighters, from which they emerged victorious, the Assassins won the gang leader's personal train, and decided to utilize it as their hideout, gaining [[Agnes MacBean]]'s services as a financier in the process. They proceeded to travel to [[Southwark]] to meet Henry Green's accomplice and inventor, Alexander Graham Bell, to fix the broken rope launcher for use on their [[Hidden Blade]] bracers.<ref name="ACS"/>

After Bell returned from installing fuses with Evie, the inventor showed Jacob the first messages of the telegraph and made him a second new rope launcher. The twins then headed to their hideout where they met [[Ned Wynert]], an American transgender entrepreneur, who gave them his business card. The Assassins planned their next motive, with Jacob determined to strengthen the Rooks and eliminate [[Crawford Starrick]]'s associates within London's infrastructure, whilst Evie searched for the [[Shrouds of Eden|Shroud of Eden]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Although in disagreement with Evie's hunt for Pieces of Eden, Jacob aided his sister in recovering an artifact from the Templar occultist [[Lucy Thorne]]'s shipments. He eliminated the guards as Evie searched the chests. However, he was caught and chased by Blighters as he returned to Evie, forcing the twins to flee on a carriage; Jacob took the reins while Evie acted on the defense. Ultimately, their pursuers were closing in, forcing the twins to abandon the carriage and its cargo, though Evie managed to keep hold of a journal belonging to the late [[Edward Kenway]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob began his investigation into the source of ''[[Starrick's Soothing Syrup]]'', which was ravaging London's poor districts. After chasing a [[Merchants|merchant]] and locating the distributor to the factory, stealing his files in the process, Jacob managed to track down and kidnap the distribution boss in the Southwark Foundry, learning from him that Starrick's Soothing Syrup was produced in the distillation building.<ref name="ACS"/>

Arriving there, Jacob witnessed an elderly man attempting to break inside, and hiding when the guards appeared. After eliminating the Blighters guarding the place, Jacob broke the lock of the factory and entered with the man. The duo investigated the tank and its ingredients, learning that the Syrup contained opium, turning it into an addictive and deadly substance. While the man hid near the entrance, Jacob turned the pressure valves, destroying the distillation tanks and setting fire to the building, which Jacob narrowly escaped by jumping through a window. The man introduced himself as Charles Darwin, who showed the Assassin a document that indicated batches of the Syrup were sent to the [[Lambeth Asylum]].<ref name="ACS"/>

He later found Darwin arguing with the asylum owner, [[Richard Owen]], whose carriage Jacob chased and hijacked, damaging it to scare Owen into revealing the creator of the Syrup - the doctor [[John Elliotson]].<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins visited Bell, who upgraded their bracers with a dart mechanism capable of firing [[Poison darts|hallucinogenic darts]]. Jacob and Evie provided assistance to the inventor by recovering cable lines taken by the Blighters in the shipments in College Wharf. They also discovered poison in the shipments from Starrick.<ref name="ACS"/>

After informing Darwin of his latest exploits regarding his hunt for the Syrup creator, Jacob infiltrated the asylum, where he discovered the doctors brutally experimenting on patients for medical purposes. He assassinated Elliotson, who mocked him, calling him childish for not thinking of the consequences of his actions.<ref name="ACS"/>

Continuing their fight against Starrick and his control of the press, the twins returned to Bell's laboratory where the latter told Jacob of Starrick's efforts of bribery to coax the inventor to his side. Aware of the Blighters aiming to attack him, he invented [[Bombs|voltaic bombs]] which would stun assailants and offered them to the twins with insulators to protect the Assassins from harm. Suddenly, the infuriated Blighters arrived; they took this as an opportunity to test the bombs as Bell distracted them through talking.<ref name="ACS"/>

The Assassins further aided the inventor in the telegraph station to keep Starrick from spreading false information throughout London and show people the truth about his operations by distracting the guards and defending Bell with their newly acquired weapon.<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob introduced himself to Starrick's fierce business competitor, [[Pearl Attaway]], unaware that she was a Templar and the [[Grand Master]]'s cousin, to discuss a business preposition. He killed an employee of Attaway's rival company, [[Millner Company]]. The pair traveled to Millner's storage yard where Jacob destroyed their enemy's omnibuses, making [[Malcolm Millner]]'s profit plummet quickly.<ref name="ACS" />

Soon enough, Jacob suddenly entered Attaway's carriage, obviously disregarding her request for an appointment. The businesswoman gave him a job to secure internal combustion engines being delivered to Millner. Knowing the man he needed, Jacob freed the arrested Ned Wynert from his police convoy and asked for his aid to transfer the package cargo. Climbing aboard the moving Blighters train, the young man searched the cargo for the engines and detached its wagon for Ned's train to recover.<ref name="ACS" />

Attaway tasked Jacob in murdering Millner who was in the [[River Thames]] with his [[Riverboats|ferry]], the only business he had left. Jacob sabotaged the contraband on the boat to lure Millner outside where he assassinated him. The dying businessman revealed that Crawford and Attaway were family and allies. Dismayed, Jacob located Attaway and overheard her conversation with Starrick that she was a Templar. Finally, he headed to the [[Waterloo station]] to assassinate Attaway, recovered the engines and escaped with the train.<ref name="ACS" />

===Reclaiming control of London===
Jacob targeted the financial field of Starrick, kidnapping a man to gather intel; the man, however, was Frederick Abberline who was once again in disguise. The sergeant informed the Assassin of a planned robbery of the {{Wiki|Bank of England}}. As the information was confidential, Jacob talked him into revealing the supplier - Cockham Merchants.<ref name="ACS" />

He later met again with Abberline to continue their investigation. Jacob located the smuggled weapons and tailed their delivery to the Templar [[Philip Twopenny]], under the alias of Plutus. Left with no choice but to stop the heist, Jacob infiltrated the Bank of England and assassinated Twopenny, giving the dead man a coin in mockery to the man's beliefs. As Jacob escaped, Abberline arrested Twopenny's accomplices.<ref name="ACS" />

Desperate to regain control, Crawford Starrick now entered England's politics, plotting against Queen Victoria for his own profit. As Jacob's latest exploits was to now meddle with the Parliament, Evie warned her brother of the consequences of his latest actions: the increase of fraud medicine, transportation and production problems, and the near collapse of the British currency, problems she mostly fixed.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob proceeded in spying on the prime minister of London within the [[Sinopean Club]], following [[Benjamin Disraeli]] and a spy walk out from the meeting. He tackled the man, assuming it was the Templar associate "B", who told him that he was just paid by another man. He was suddenly shot in the head by a sniper. Jacob then chased the sniper, threatening to throw her off the roof to reveal information. The scared woman admitted that she did not know her employer, only giving a description of his appearance. but they were planned to attack the prime minister's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

Infiltrating Disraeli's carriage, Jacob pretended to be the prime minister's bodyguard. Disraeli was suspicious of the Assassin however, unlike his wife [[Mary Anne Disraeli|Mary Anne]] who let Jacob speak. There was a sudden gunshot from outside, coming from the police and the Blighters. Jacob defended the Disraelis and chased their hijacked carriage, securing the couple's safety. Jacob then asked Mary Anne for the Templar affiliate he was searching for and the woman agreed in exchange for a tour of the [[Devil's Acre]].<ref name="ACS" />

The following night, Jacob arrived at their meeting place, but Mary Anne canceled the tour due to scandal-seeking journalists. The Assassin, unable to hurt the journalists, distracted them instead and returned to Mary Anne's carriage. Escaping more journalists, the pair eventually arrived in Devil's Acre and avoided the Blighter thugs on patrol. They later settled to a [[Taverns|tavern]] where Mary Ann's purse, containing her dog [[Desmond]], was stolen. After recovering the dog, Jacob returned only to find Mary Anne advising the thugs. Their misfortune was succeeded by the Blighters chasing their carriage. With the tour coming to an end, Mary Anne revealed the man Jacob was seeking for - the [[James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan|Earl of Cardigan]], who was currently working within the [[Palace of Westminster]].<ref name="ACS" />

Stealthily infiltrating the Palace of Westminster, Jacob eventually made his way to the Earl and assassinated him. The Earl called him a coward and dramatically announced his death, much to Jacob's irritation. Having done his task, Jacob escaped the palace's guards and Blighter patrols. Unbeknownst to him, his action caused major turmoil in the citizens of London, another problem Evie had to fix for him.<ref name="ACS" />

Moving to his next target, Jacob accepted London's biggest criminal mastermind and Blighter leader [[Maxwell Roth]]'s invitation for dinner, who found Jacob's accomplishments magnificent. He offered the Assassin a partnership which Jacob accepted. The duo rode into the night to St. Pancras station, where Jacob blew up shipments of explosives belonging to Starrick and Co. With the explosives dealt with, Jacob went to kidnap a driver to deliver the train to Roth.<ref name="ACS" />

The pair continued their goal to overthrow Starrick's control over London with theft in mind. Roth explained his plan to kidnap three of the Grand Master's henchmen: [[Hattie Cadwallader]], [[Benjamin Raffles]] and [[Chester Swinebourne]]; a task which Jacob accomplished, delivering the trio to Roth's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Jacob found Roth's tactics brutal and selfish. He decided to severe the agreement after Roth's unconcern in destroying a factory with innocent laboring children inside. Jacob, opposing Roth's idea of sacrificing innocents for Starrick's downfall, refused, forcing Roth to ignite the explosives himself and Jacob to save the children from the building. He was then given a letter by Roth in the form of a gift, with the corpse of Roth's pet bird inside.<ref name="ACS" />

To celebrate Starrick's loss and the end of Jacob's partnership, Roth called for a masquerade party in the [[Alhambra Music Hall]]. Jacob took this opportunity to assassinate the Blighter and his decoys during the performance. Roth, now mad with the goal to murder his audience and Jacob, set fire to the stage. Jacob then used his blade to end Roth's life who in turn kissed Jacob, telling him his reason of killing innocents was just because he wanted to. The Assassin narrowly escaped the flaming theater.<ref name="ACS" />

With his sister, the Rooks eventually took control of London's boroughs, eliminating the Blighters threat with their Templar leaders [[Bloody Nora]], [[Lilla Graves]], [[Victor Lynch]], [[Octavia Plumb]], [[Cletus Strain]] and [[Edith Swinebourne]] by launching a gang war between the two rivals.<ref name="ACS" />

===Assassinating Crawford Starrick===
After assassinating Maxwell Roth, Jacob returned to Evie, who scolded him with his disinterest in the Shroud and reckless planning. Evie mentioned their father, a sore topic for Jacob, and the siblings argued. Henry calmed them down and told them about a ball to be held in [[Buckingham Palace]] where Starrick was planning to steal the Piece of Eden and eliminate the heads of church and government.<ref name="ACS" />

Finding this a good opportunity to assassinate Starrick, Jacob formulated a plan with Evie and invited the Disraelis to their hideout. The twins told them their need to enter the ball and offered their plan to steal the invitations of [[Catherine Gladstone|Catherine]] and [[William Gladstone]], much to the Disraelis' glad approval.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob then headed to the Gladstones' house to recover the invitations and eventually tracked Mrs. Gladstone and hijacked her carriage. Finding that weaponry was not allowed in the ball, Jacob asked Frederick Abberline for ideas and the latter told him to acquire the royal guards' uniform. The Assassin proceeded to St. Martin's Church, stole one, giving it to Abberline.<ref name="ACS" />

The twins successfully managed to infiltrate the ball using the Gladstones' carriage and invitations. Jacob sought out Frederick Abberline for their smuggled weapons. The sergeant told Jacob that Starrick had disguised his own men with the royal guards. The Assassin came to the rescue, killing all of the impostors. Afterwards, Jacob sent his sister a signal.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Evie lost her Precursor necklace to Starrick and ordered her brother to locate the [[Buckingham Palace crypt|crypt]]. Jacob made his way to the vault, finding Starrick with the Shroud. He failed to attack the Templar; instead, Starrick choked him. The vault's activated defense mechanism sent Jacob sprawling to the floor. Finally recovering, Jacob had to save his sister in return from the clutch of Starrick. After exchanging more blows with Starrick, the two of them were trapped.<ref name="ACS" />

Fortunately, Henry Green arrived, throwing a [[Throwing knives|knife]] at the Templar. Joining the fight, Henry too was knocked off his feet by the Templar. Jacob and Evie continued the fight and manged to remove the Shroud and end Starrick's life. With the Templar threat gone, the rift between the siblings vanished. Jacob returned the Shroud as Evie attended at Henry's side.<ref name="ACS" />

A short time later, the three Assassins met with Queen Victoria, who was grateful to her saviors. The queen knighted them to her Order of the Sacred Garter. The twins then raced off to their hideout, leaving Henry behind.<ref name="ACS" />

===Rebuilding the London Brotherhood===
With the Templar Grand Master eliminated, the twins continued their struggle to help London's underclass. The Fryes soon distanced themselves from Queen Victoria to avoid their cooperation furthering imperial interests but the British capital itself entered a twenty year period of relative peace.<ref name="JR">''Assassin's Creed: Syndicate'' - ''[[Jack the Ripper (DLC)|Jack the Ripper]]''</ref>

During that time, Jacob and Evie would eventually go their separate ways with Evie and Henry relocating to [[India]] while Jacob remained in the city to maintain the Rooks and reinforce the Brotherhood with new [[apprentices]]. He also had at least one child, a son, who was also invested into the Assassin Order.<ref name="JR" />

One of his initiates was a young boy from the Lambeth Asylum nicknamed "[[Jack the Ripper|Jack the Lad]]" and together with new initiates, Jacob joined his sister in India in order to learn the fear tactics of the [[Indian Assassins]].<ref name="JR" />

===Autumn of Terror===
Sometime after returning to London, Jacob came to blows with his apprentice Jack, who had developed an extremist view of the Assassins' mission and his own warped variant of [[the Creed]]. He eventually lost control of the Rooks to Jack, who intended to use the gang to further his goals. In retaliation, Jacob sent a few of his female initiates after Jack, disguised as [[Courtesans|prostitutes]]. His efforts proved to be in vain, however, with Jack brutally eliminating all opposition sent his way. This marked the beginning of the [[Whitechapel murders]], otherwise known as the Autumn of Terror.<ref name="JR" />

On the night of 30 September 1888, Jacob approached the journalist [[Arthur Weaversbrook]], who had been publishing Jack's letters for the public to read. He demanded that Weaversbrook discontinue the publishing of the letters and berated him for turning Jack into a legend.<ref name="JR" />

After his conversation with Weaversbrook, Jacob caught wind of a peering Jack nearby and rushed to his Whitechapel lodgings. Midway, a fight broke out in a cemetery, where Jack injured Jacob and gained the upper hand. Jacob continued to flee and escaped to his lodgings via horse-drawn carriage. There, an injured Jacob was ambushed and overpowered in combat, resulting in him being kidnapped and locked away in a cell beneath Lambeth Asylum.<ref name="JR" />

Prior to his abduction, Jacob had requested the return of his sister. Honoring the request, Evie began searching for him and investigating the murder scenes of Jack's many victims. Jacob was eventually located by his sister, barely alive and in a semi-conscious state. After killing Jack and his accomplices, Evie went to help her brother and, with the aid of Inspector Frederick Abberline, obscured the identity of the Ripper to prevent the potential compromising of the Brotherhood.<ref name="JR" />

While he was brought up as an Assassin, Jacob grew up under a strict lifestyle that restricted his active behavior. As a result, he began to resent his father as well as his teachings, and usually lost his composure when Evie brought their deceased father into their arguments. Furthermore, he did not appear to be a fervent believer in [[the Creed]]'s tenets like his sister, preferring action over philosophical thoughts and a good fight over discretion. As such, he was easily dismissive of Pieces of Eden, preferring to focus on his targets.<ref name="ACS" />

Coupled with his reckless behavior, Jacob remained oblivious to the chaos created by his actions. Assassinating Starrick's Templar associates created as much harm as good, and when brought up by Evie, Jacob simply dismissed them. Instead, he justified his actions by claiming he was doing something proactive in toppling Starrick's power, unlike Evie who was obsessed in tracking down the Pieces of Eden.<ref name="ACS" />

However, complementing his impulsive and reckless behavior, Jacob was very good at thinking on his feet, part of the reason he survived his own recklessness. Also, as a gang leader, Jacob proved himself as a criminal strategist and organizer.<ref name="ACS" />

While "having fun" was very important to Jacob, he was not above altruistic acts and fighting for the disenfranchised. Furthermore, he had no desire to harm any innocent civilians, cutting off all ties with Maxwell Roth for doing so. Upon seeing how dangerous Roth's anarchism was, Jacob finally realized the flaw in his own idea of freedom. As such, he came to understand the tenets of the Creed, and acknowledged that his father was right all along.<ref name="ACS" />

An experienced brawler, Jacob was proficient in hand-to-hand combat, able to engage multiple opponents simultaniously with minimal effort, where he could utilise his [[brass knuckles]] to employ more brutal take-downs. Due to the era's restriction on open weaponry, Jacob utilized an arsenal of hidden tools including his dual Hidden Blades, one of which was equipped with a rope launcher – a versatile tool that he could utilize to access and scale areas quickly, as well as create [[ziplines]].<ref name="ACS" />

Accompanying this, the Hidden Blade was equipped with a mechanism that fired hallucinogenic darts; firing a dart into an open flame would result in a poisonous gas cloud, allowing Jacob to eliminate multiple enemies from a distance. After arriving in [[Whitechapel]], the twins sought out the [[Assassin leader|leader]], and sole remaining Assassin in London, [[Jayadeep Mir|Henry Green]]. Informed of the Templars' vast control over the city, Jacob proposed to form a gang called the Rooks to challenge the Blighters' power in the area, disagreeing with Evie's plan to recover [[Pieces of Eden]]. While discussing this, the three Assassins bumped into the writer Charles Dickens who invited them for a talk sometime. After losing the Blighters tailing them, the twins joined Henry in his shop, where he explained his array of contacts within the city.<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins later encountered a disguised Sergeant [[Frederick Abberline]], who gave them a list of Blighters, whom they could kidnap and bring to him for arrest, preferring living to dead. Following a street battle with Kaylock's Blighters, from which they emerged victorious, the Assassins won the gang leader's personal train, and decided to utilize it as their hideout, gaining [[Agnes MacBean]]'s services as a financier in the process. They proceeded to travel to [[Southwark]] to meet Henry Green's accomplice and inventor, Alexander Graham Bell, to fix the broken rope launcher for use on their [[Hidden Blade]] bracers.<ref name="ACS"/>

After Bell returned from installing fuses with Evie, the inventor showed Jacob the first messages of the telegraph and made him a second new rope launcher. The twins then headed to their hideout where they met [[Ned Wynert]], an American transgender entrepreneur, who gave them his business card. The Assassins planned their next motive, with Jacob determined to strengthen the Rooks and eliminate [[Crawford Starrick]]'s associates within London's infrastructure, whilst Evie searched for the [[Shrouds of Eden|Shroud of Eden]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Although in disagreement with Evie's hunt for Pieces of Eden, Jacob aided his sister in recovering an artifact from the Templar occultist [[Lucy Thorne]]'s shipments. He eliminated the guards as Evie searched the chests. However, he was caught and chased by Blighters as he returned to Evie, forcing the twins to flee on a carriage; Jacob took the reins while Evie acted on the defense. Ultimately, their pursuers were closing in, forcing the twins to abandon the carriage and its cargo, though Evie managed to keep hold of a journal belonging to the late [[Edward Kenway]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob began his investigation into the source of ''[[Starrick's Soothing Syrup]]'', which was ravaging London's poor districts. After chasing a [[Merchants|merchant]] and locating the distributor to the factory, stealing his files in the process, Jacob managed to track down and kidnap the distribution boss in the Southwark Foundry, learning from him that Starrick's Soothing Syrup was produced in the distillation building.<ref name="ACS"/>

Arriving there, Jacob witnessed an elderly man attempting to break inside, and hiding when the guards appeared. After eliminating the Blighters guarding the place, Jacob broke the lock of the factory and entered with the man. The duo investigated the tank and its ingredients, learning that the Syrup contained opium, turning it into an addictive and deadly substance. While the man hid near the entrance, Jacob turned the pressure valves, destroying the distillation tanks and setting fire to the building, which Jacob narrowly escaped by jumping through a window. The man introduced himself as Charles Darwin, who showed the Assassin a document that indicated batches of the Syrup were sent to the [[Lambeth Asylum]].<ref name="ACS"/>

He later found Darwin arguing with the asylum owner, [[Richard Owen]], whose carriage Jacob chased and hijacked, damaging it to scare Owen into revealing the creator of the Syrup - the doctor [[John Elliotson]].<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins visited Bell, who upgraded their bracers with a dart mechanism capable of firing [[Poison darts|hallucinogenic darts]]. Jacob and Evie provided assistance to the inventor by recovering cable lines taken by the Blighters in the shipments in College Wharf. They also discovered poison in the shipments from Starrick.<ref name="ACS"/>

After informing Darwin of his latest exploits regarding his hunt for the Syrup creator, Jacob infiltrated the asylum, where he discovered the doctors brutally experimenting on patients for medical purposes. He assassinated Elliotson, who mocked him, calling him childish for not thinking of the consequences of his actions.<ref name="ACS"/>

Continuing their fight against Starrick and his control of the press, the twins returned to Bell's laboratory where the latter told Jacob of Starrick's efforts of bribery to coax the inventor to his side. Aware of the Blighters aiming to attack him, he invented [[Bombs|voltaic bombs]] which would stun assailants and offered them to the twins with insulators to protect the Assassins from harm. Suddenly, the infuriated Blighters arrived; they took this as an opportunity to test the bombs as Bell distracted them through talking.<ref name="ACS"/>

The Assassins further aided the inventor in the telegraph station to keep Starrick from spreading false information throughout London and show people the truth about his operations by distracting the guards and defending Bell with their newly acquired weapon.<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob introduced himself to Starrick's fierce business competitor, [[Pearl Attaway]], unaware that she was a Templar and the [[Grand Master]]'s cousin, to discuss a business preposition. He killed an employee of Attaway's rival company, [[Millner Company]]. The pair traveled to Millner's storage yard where Jacob destroyed their enemy's omnibuses, making [[Malcolm Millner]]'s profit plummet quickly.<ref name="ACS" />

Soon enough, Jacob suddenly entered Attaway's carriage, obviously disregarding her request for an appointment. The businesswoman gave him a job to secure internal combustion engines being delivered to Millner. Knowing the man he needed, Jacob freed the arrested Ned Wynert from his police convoy and asked for his aid to transfer the package cargo. Climbing aboard the moving Blighters train, the young man searched the cargo for the engines and detached its wagon for Ned's train to recover.<ref name="ACS" />

Attaway tasked Jacob in murdering Millner who was in the [[River Thames]] with his [[Riverboats|ferry]], the only business he had left. Jacob sabotaged the contraband on the boat to lure Millner outside where he assassinated him. The dying businessman revealed that Crawford and Attaway were family and allies. Dismayed, Jacob located Attaway and overheard her conversation with Starrick that she was a Templar. Finally, he headed to the [[Waterloo station]] to assassinate Attaway, recovered the engines and escaped with the train.<ref name="ACS" />

===Reclaiming control of London===
Jacob targeted the financial field of Starrick, kidnapping a man to gather intel; the man, however, was Frederick Abberline who was once again in disguise. The sergeant informed the Assassin of a planned robbery of the {{Wiki|Bank of England}}. As the information was confidential, Jacob talked him into revealing the supplier - Cockham Merchants.<ref name="ACS" />

He later met again with Abberline to continue their investigation. Jacob located the smuggled weapons and tailed their delivery to the Templar [[Philip Twopenny]], under the alias of Plutus. Left with no choice but to stop the heist, Jacob infiltrated the Bank of England and assassinated Twopenny, giving the dead man a coin in mockery to the man's beliefs. As Jacob escaped, Abberline arrested Twopenny's accomplices.<ref name="ACS" />

Desperate to regain control, Crawford Starrick now entered England's politics, plotting against Queen Victoria for his own profit. As Jacob's latest exploits was to now meddle with the Parliament, Evie warned her brother of the consequences of his latest actions: the increase of fraud medicine, transportation and production problems, and the near collapse of the British currency, problems she mostly fixed.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob proceeded in spying on the prime minister of London within the [[Sinopean Club]], following [[Benjamin Disraeli]] and a spy walk out from the meeting. He tackled the man, assuming it was the Templar associate "B", who told him that he was just paid by another man. He was suddenly shot in the head by a sniper. Jacob then chased the sniper, threatening to throw her off the roof to reveal information. The scared woman admitted that she did not know her employer, only giving a description of his appearance. but they were planned to attack the prime minister's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

Infiltrating Disraeli's carriage, Jacob pretended to be the prime minister's bodyguard. Disraeli was suspicious of the Assassin however, unlike his wife [[Mary Anne Disraeli|Mary Anne]] who let Jacob speak. There was a sudden gunshot from outside, coming from the police and the Blighters. Jacob defended the Disraelis and chased their hijacked carriage, securing the couple's safety. Jacob then asked Mary Anne for the Templar affiliate he was searching for and the woman agreed in exchange for a tour of the [[Devil's Acre]].<ref name="ACS" />

The following night, Jacob arrived at their meeting place, but Mary Anne canceled the tour due to scandal-seeking journalists. The Assassin, unable to hurt the journalists, distracted them instead and returned to Mary Anne's carriage. Escaping more journalists, the pair eventually arrived in Devil's Acre and avoided the Blighter thugs on patrol. They later settled to a [[Taverns|tavern]] where Mary Ann's purse, containing her dog [[Desmond]], was stolen. After recovering the dog, Jacob returned only to find Mary Anne advising the thugs. Their misfortune was succeeded by the Blighters chasing their carriage. With the tour coming to an end, Mary Anne revealed the man Jacob was seeking for - the [[James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan|Earl of Cardigan]], who was currently working within the [[Palace of Westminster]].<ref name="ACS" />

Stealthily infiltrating the Palace of Westminster, Jacob eventually made his way to the Earl and assassinated him. The Earl called him a coward and dramatically announced his death, much to Jacob's irritation. Having done his task, Jacob escaped the palace's guards and Blighter patrols. Unbeknownst to him, his action caused major turmoil in the citizens of London, another problem Evie had to fix for him.<ref name="ACS" />

Moving to his next target, Jacob accepted London's biggest criminal mastermind and Blighter leader [[Maxwell Roth]]'s invitation for dinner, who found Jacob's accomplishments magnificent. He offered the Assassin a partnership which Jacob accepted. The duo rode into the night to St. Pancras station, where Jacob blew up shipments of explosives belonging to Starrick and Co. With the explosives dealt with, Jacob went to kidnap a driver to deliver the train to Roth.<ref name="ACS" />

The pair continued their goal to overthrow Starrick's control over London with theft in mind. Roth explained his plan to kidnap three of the Grand Master's henchmen: [[Hattie Cadwallader]], [[Benjamin Raffles]] and [[Chester Swinebourne]]; a task which Jacob accomplished, delivering the trio to Roth's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Jacob found Roth's tactics brutal and selfish. He decided to severe the agreement after Roth's unconcern in destroying a factory with innocent laboring children inside. Jacob, opposing Roth's idea of sacrificing innocents for Starrick's downfall, refused, forcing Roth to ignite the explosives himself and Jacob to save the children from the building. He was then given a letter by Roth in the form of a gift, with the corpse of Roth's pet bird inside.<ref name="ACS" />

To celebrate Starrick's loss and the end of Jacob's partnership, Roth called for a masquerade party in the [[Alhambra Music Hall]]. Jacob took this opportunity to assassinate the Blighter and his decoys during the performance. Roth, now mad with the goal to murder his audience and Jacob, set fire to the stage. Jacob then used his blade to end Roth's life who in turn kissed Jacob, telling him his reason of killing innocents was just because he wanted to. The Assassin narrowly escaped the flaming theater.<ref name="ACS" />

With his sister, the Rooks eventually took control of London's boroughs, eliminating the Blighters threat with their Templar leaders [[Bloody Nora]], [[Lilla Graves]], [[Victor Lynch]], [[Octavia Plumb]], [[Cletus Strain]] and [[Edith Swinebourne]] by launching a gang war between the two rivals.<ref name="ACS" />

===Assassinating Crawford Starrick===
After assassinating Maxwell Roth, Jacob returned to Evie, who scolded him with his disinterest in the Shroud and reckless planning. Evie mentioned their father, a sore topic for Jacob, and the siblings argued. Henry calmed them down and told them about a ball to be held in [[Buckingham Palace]] where Starrick was planning to steal the Piece of Eden and eliminate the heads of church and government.<ref name="ACS" />

Finding this a good opportunity to assassinate Starrick, Jacob formulated a plan with Evie and invited the Disraelis to their hideout. The twins told them their need to enter the ball and offered their plan to steal the invitations of [[Catherine Gladstone|Catherine]] and [[William Gladstone]], much to the Disraelis' glad approval.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob then headed to the Gladstones' house to recover the invitations and eventually tracked Mrs. Gladstone and hijacked her carriage. Finding that weaponry was not allowed in the ball, Jacob asked Frederick Abberline for ideas and the latter told him to acquire the royal guards' uniform. The Assassin proceeded to St. Martin's Church, stole one, giving it to Abberline.<ref name="ACS" />

The twins successfully managed to infiltrate the ball using the Gladstones' carriage and invitations. Jacob sought out Frederick Abberline for their smuggled weapons. The sergeant told Jacob that Starrick had disguised his own men with the royal guards. The Assassin came to the rescue, killing all of the impostors. Afterwards, Jacob sent his sister a signal.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Evie lost her Precursor necklace to Starrick and ordered her brother to locate the [[Buckingham Palace crypt|crypt]]. Jacob made his way to the vault, finding Starrick with the Shroud. He failed to attack the Templar; instead, Starrick choked him. The vault's activated defense mechanism sent Jacob sprawling to the floor. Finally recovering, Jacob had to save his sister in return from the clutch of Starrick. After exchanging more blows with Starrick, the two of them were trapped.<ref name="ACS" />

Fortunately, Henry Green arrived, throwing a [[Throwing knives|knife]] at the Templar. Joining the fight, Henry too was knocked off his feet by the Templar. Jacob and Evie continued the fight and manged to remove the Shroud and end Starrick's life. With the Templar threat gone, the rift between the siblings vanished. Jacob returned the Shroud as Evie attended at Henry's side.<ref name="ACS" />

A short time later, the three Assassins met with Queen Victoria, who was grateful to her saviors. The queen knighted them to her Order of the Sacred Garter. The twins then raced off to their hideout, leaving Henry behind.<ref name="ACS" />

===Rebuilding the London Brotherhood===
With the Templar Grand Master eliminated, the twins continued their struggle to help London's underclass. The Fryes soon distanced themselves from Queen Victoria to avoid their cooperation furthering imperial interests but the British capital itself entered a twenty year period of relative peace.<ref name="JR">''Assassin's Creed: Syndicate'' - ''[[Jack the Ripper (DLC)|Jack the Ripper]]''</ref>

During that time, Jacob and Evie would eventually go their separate ways with Evie and Henry relocating to [[India]] while Jacob remained in the city to maintain the Rooks and reinforce the Brotherhood with new [[apprentices]]. He also had at least one child, a son, who was also invested into the Assassin Order.<ref name="JR" />

One of his initiates was a young boy from the Lambeth Asylum nicknamed "[[Jack the Ripper|Jack the Lad]]" and together with new initiates, Jacob joined his sister in India in order to learn the fear tactics of the [[Indian Assassins]].<ref name="JR" />

===Autumn of Terror===
Sometime after returning to London, Jacob came to blows with his apprentice Jack, who had developed an extremist view of the Assassins' mission and his own warped variant of [[the Creed]]. He eventually lost control of the Rooks to Jack, who intended to use the gang to further his goals. In retaliation, Jacob sent a few of his female initiates after Jack, disguised as [[Courtesans|prostitutes]]. His efforts proved to be in vain, however, with Jack brutally eliminating all opposition sent his way. This marked the beginning of the [[Whitechapel murders]], otherwise known as the Autumn of Terror.<ref name="JR" />

On the night of 30 September 1888, Jacob approached the journalist [[Arthur Weaversbrook]], who had been publishing Jack's letters for the public to read. He demanded that Weaversbrook discontinue the publishing of the letters and berated him for turning Jack into a legend.<ref name="JR" />

After his conversation with Weaversbrook, Jacob caught wind of a peering Jack nearby and rushed to his Whitechapel lodgings. Midway, a fight broke out in a cemetery, where Jack injured Jacob and gained the upper hand. Jacob continued to flee and escaped to his lodgings via horse-drawn carriage. There, an injured Jacob was ambushed and overpowered in combat, resulting in him being kidnapped and locked away in a cell beneath Lambeth Asylum.<ref name="JR" />

Prior to his abduction, Jacob had requested the return of his sister. Honoring the request, Evie began searching for him and investigating the murder scenes of Jack's many victims. Jacob was eventually located by his sister, barely alive and in a semi-conscious state. As a result, he began to resent his father as well as his teachings, and usually lost his composure when Evie brought their deceased father into their arguments. Furthermore, he did not appear to be a fervent believer in [[the Creed]]'s tenets like his sister, preferring action over philosophical thoughts and a good fight over discretion. As such, he was easily dismissive of Pieces of Eden, preferring to focus on his targets.<ref name="ACS" />

Coupled with his reckless behavior, Jacob remained oblivious to the chaos created by his actions. Assassinating Starrick's Templar associates created as much harm as good, and when brought up by Evie, Jacob simply dismissed them. Instead, he justified his actions by claiming he was doing something proactive in toppling Starrick's power, unlike Evie who was obsessed in tracking down the Pieces of Eden.<ref name="ACS" />

While "having fun" was very important to Jacob, he was not above altruistic acts and fighting for the disenfranchised. Furthermore, he had no desire to harm any innocent civilians, cutting off all ties with Maxwell Roth for doing so. Upon seeing how dangerous Roth's anarchism was, Jacob finally realized the flaw in his own idea of freedom. As such, he came to understand the tenets of the Creed, and acknowledged that his father was right all along.<ref name="ACS" />

Due to the era's restriction on open weaponry, Jacob utilized an arsenal of hidden tools including his dual Hidden Blades, one of which was equipped with a rope launcher – a versatile tool that he could utilize to access and scale areas quickly, as well as create [[ziplines]].<ref name="ACS" />

Accompanying this, the Hidden Blade was equipped with a mechanism that fired hallucinogenic darts; firing a dart into an open flame would result in a poisonous gas cloud, allowing Jacob to eliminate multiple enemies from a distance. After arriving in [[Whitechapel]], the twins sought out the [[Assassin leader|leader]], and sole remaining Assassin in London, [[Jayadeep Mir|Henry Green]]. Informed of the Templars' vast control over the city, Jacob proposed to form a gang called the Rooks to challenge the Blighters' power in the area, disagreeing with Evie's plan to recover [[Pieces of Eden]]. While discussing this, the three Assassins bumped into the writer Charles Dickens who invited them for a talk sometime. After losing the Blighters tailing them, the twins joined Henry in his shop, where he explained his array of contacts within the city.<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins later encountered a disguised Sergeant [[Frederick Abberline]], who gave them a list of Blighters, whom they could kidnap and bring to him for arrest, preferring living to dead. Following a street battle with Kaylock's Blighters, from which they emerged victorious, the Assassins won the gang leader's personal train, and decided to utilize it as their hideout, gaining [[Agnes MacBean]]'s services as a financier in the process. They proceeded to travel to [[Southwark]] to meet Henry Green's accomplice and inventor, Alexander Graham Bell, to fix the broken rope launcher for use on their [[Hidden Blade]] bracers.<ref name="ACS"/>

After Bell returned from installing fuses with Evie, the inventor showed Jacob the first messages of the telegraph and made him a second new rope launcher. The twins then headed to their hideout where they met [[Ned Wynert]], an American transgender entrepreneur, who gave them his business card. The Assassins planned their next motive, with Jacob determined to strengthen the Rooks and eliminate [[Crawford Starrick]]'s associates within London's infrastructure, whilst Evie searched for the [[Shrouds of Eden|Shroud of Eden]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Although in disagreement with Evie's hunt for Pieces of Eden, Jacob aided his sister in recovering an artifact from the Templar occultist [[Lucy Thorne]]'s shipments. He eliminated the guards as Evie searched the chests. However, he was caught and chased by Blighters as he returned to Evie, forcing the twins to flee on a carriage; Jacob took the reins while Evie acted on the defense. Ultimately, their pursuers were closing in, forcing the twins to abandon the carriage and its cargo, though Evie managed to keep hold of a journal belonging to the late [[Edward Kenway]].<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob began his investigation into the source of ''[[Starrick's Soothing Syrup]]'', which was ravaging London's poor districts. After chasing a [[Merchants|merchant]] and locating the distributor to the factory, stealing his files in the process, Jacob managed to track down and kidnap the distribution boss in the Southwark Foundry, learning from him that Starrick's Soothing Syrup was produced in the distillation building.<ref name="ACS"/>

Arriving there, Jacob witnessed an elderly man attempting to break inside, and hiding when the guards appeared. After eliminating the Blighters guarding the place, Jacob broke the lock of the factory and entered with the man. The duo investigated the tank and its ingredients, learning that the Syrup contained opium, turning it into an addictive and deadly substance. While the man hid near the entrance, Jacob turned the pressure valves, destroying the distillation tanks and setting fire to the building, which Jacob narrowly escaped by jumping through a window. The man introduced himself as Charles Darwin, who showed the Assassin a document that indicated batches of the Syrup were sent to the [[Lambeth Asylum]].<ref name="ACS"/>

He later found Darwin arguing with the asylum owner, [[Richard Owen]], whose carriage Jacob chased and hijacked, damaging it to scare Owen into revealing the creator of the Syrup - the doctor [[John Elliotson]].<ref name="ACS"/>

The twins visited Bell, who upgraded their bracers with a dart mechanism capable of firing [[Poison darts|hallucinogenic darts]]. Jacob and Evie provided assistance to the inventor by recovering cable lines taken by the Blighters in the shipments in College Wharf. They also discovered poison in the shipments from Starrick.<ref name="ACS"/>

After informing Darwin of his latest exploits regarding his hunt for the Syrup creator, Jacob infiltrated the asylum, where he discovered the doctors brutally experimenting on patients for medical purposes. He assassinated Elliotson, who mocked him, calling him childish for not thinking of the consequences of his actions.<ref name="ACS"/>

Continuing their fight against Starrick and his control of the press, the twins returned to Bell's laboratory where the latter told Jacob of Starrick's efforts of bribery to coax the inventor to his side. Aware of the Blighters aiming to attack him, he invented [[Bombs|voltaic bombs]] which would stun assailants and offered them to the twins with insulators to protect the Assassins from harm. Suddenly, the infuriated Blighters arrived; they took this as an opportunity to test the bombs as Bell distracted them through talking.<ref name="ACS"/>

The Assassins further aided the inventor in the telegraph station to keep Starrick from spreading false information throughout London and show people the truth about his operations by distracting the guards and defending Bell with their newly acquired weapon.<ref name="ACS"/>

Jacob introduced himself to Starrick's fierce business competitor, [[Pearl Attaway]], unaware that she was a Templar and the [[Grand Master]]'s cousin, to discuss a business preposition. He killed an employee of Attaway's rival company, [[Millner Company]]. The pair traveled to Millner's storage yard where Jacob destroyed their enemy's omnibuses, making [[Malcolm Millner]]'s profit plummet quickly.<ref name="ACS" />

Soon enough, Jacob suddenly entered Attaway's carriage, obviously disregarding her request for an appointment. The businesswoman gave him a job to secure internal combustion engines being delivered to Millner. Knowing the man he needed, Jacob freed the arrested Ned Wynert from his police convoy and asked for his aid to transfer the package cargo. Climbing aboard the moving Blighters train, the young man searched the cargo for the engines and detached its wagon for Ned's train to recover.<ref name="ACS" />

Attaway tasked Jacob in murdering Millner who was in the [[River Thames]] with his [[Riverboats|ferry]], the only business he had left. Jacob sabotaged the contraband on the boat to lure Millner outside where he assassinated him. The dying businessman revealed that Crawford and Attaway were family and allies. Dismayed, Jacob located Attaway and overheard her conversation with Starrick that she was a Templar. Finally, he headed to the [[Waterloo station]] to assassinate Attaway, recovered the engines and escaped with the train.<ref name="ACS" />

===Reclaiming control of London===
Jacob targeted the financial field of Starrick, kidnapping a man to gather intel; the man, however, was Frederick Abberline who was once again in disguise. The sergeant informed the Assassin of a planned robbery of the {{Wiki|Bank of England}}. As the information was confidential, Jacob talked him into revealing the supplier - Cockham Merchants.<ref name="ACS" />

He later met again with Abberline to continue their investigation. Jacob located the smuggled weapons and tailed their delivery to the Templar [[Philip Twopenny]], under the alias of Plutus. Left with no choice but to stop the heist, Jacob infiltrated the Bank of England and assassinated Twopenny, giving the dead man a coin in mockery to the man's beliefs. As Jacob escaped, Abberline arrested Twopenny's accomplices.<ref name="ACS" />

Desperate to regain control, Crawford Starrick now entered England's politics, plotting against Queen Victoria for his own profit. As Jacob's latest exploits was to now meddle with the Parliament, Evie warned her brother of the consequences of his latest actions: the increase of fraud medicine, transportation and production problems, and the near collapse of the British currency, problems she mostly fixed.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob proceeded in spying on the prime minister of London within the [[Sinopean Club]], following [[Benjamin Disraeli]] and a spy walk out from the meeting. He tackled the man, assuming it was the Templar associate "B", who told him that he was just paid by another man. He was suddenly shot in the head by a sniper. Jacob then chased the sniper, threatening to throw her off the roof to reveal information. The scared woman admitted that she did not know her employer, only giving a description of his appearance. but they were planned to attack the prime minister's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

Infiltrating Disraeli's carriage, Jacob pretended to be the prime minister's bodyguard. Disraeli was suspicious of the Assassin however, unlike his wife [[Mary Anne Disraeli|Mary Anne]] who let Jacob speak. There was a sudden gunshot from outside, coming from the police and the Blighters. Jacob defended the Disraelis and chased their hijacked carriage, securing the couple's safety. Jacob then asked Mary Anne for the Templar affiliate he was searching for and the woman agreed in exchange for a tour of the [[Devil's Acre]].<ref name="ACS" />

The following night, Jacob arrived at their meeting place, but Mary Anne canceled the tour due to scandal-seeking journalists. The Assassin, unable to hurt the journalists, distracted them instead and returned to Mary Anne's carriage. Escaping more journalists, the pair eventually arrived in Devil's Acre and avoided the Blighter thugs on patrol. They later settled to a [[Taverns|tavern]] where Mary Ann's purse, containing her dog [[Desmond]], was stolen. After recovering the dog, Jacob returned only to find Mary Anne advising the thugs. Their misfortune was succeeded by the Blighters chasing their carriage. With the tour coming to an end, Mary Anne revealed the man Jacob was seeking for - the [[James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan|Earl of Cardigan]], who was currently working within the [[Palace of Westminster]].<ref name="ACS" />

Stealthily infiltrating the Palace of Westminster, Jacob eventually made his way to the Earl and assassinated him. The Earl called him a coward and dramatically announced his death, much to Jacob's irritation. Having done his task, Jacob escaped the palace's guards and Blighter patrols. Unbeknownst to him, his action caused major turmoil in the citizens of London, another problem Evie had to fix for him.<ref name="ACS" />

Moving to his next target, Jacob accepted London's biggest criminal mastermind and Blighter leader [[Maxwell Roth]]'s invitation for dinner, who found Jacob's accomplishments magnificent. He offered the Assassin a partnership which Jacob accepted. The duo rode into the night to St. Pancras station, where Jacob blew up shipments of explosives belonging to Starrick and Co. With the explosives dealt with, Jacob went to kidnap a driver to deliver the train to Roth.<ref name="ACS" />

The pair continued their goal to overthrow Starrick's control over London with theft in mind. Roth explained his plan to kidnap three of the Grand Master's henchmen: [[Hattie Cadwallader]], [[Benjamin Raffles]] and [[Chester Swinebourne]]; a task which Jacob accomplished, delivering the trio to Roth's carriage.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Jacob found Roth's tactics brutal and selfish. He decided to severe the agreement after Roth's unconcern in destroying a factory with innocent laboring children inside. Jacob, opposing Roth's idea of sacrificing innocents for Starrick's downfall, refused, forcing Roth to ignite the explosives himself and Jacob to save the children from the building. He was then given a letter by Roth in the form of a gift, with the corpse of Roth's pet bird inside.<ref name="ACS" />

To celebrate Starrick's loss and the end of Jacob's partnership, Roth called for a masquerade party in the [[Alhambra Music Hall]]. Jacob took this opportunity to assassinate the Blighter and his decoys during the performance. Roth, now mad with the goal to murder his audience and Jacob, set fire to the stage. Jacob then used his blade to end Roth's life who in turn kissed Jacob, telling him his reason of killing innocents was just because he wanted to. The Assassin narrowly escaped the flaming theater.<ref name="ACS" />

With his sister, the Rooks eventually took control of London's boroughs, eliminating the Blighters threat with their Templar leaders [[Bloody Nora]], [[Lilla Graves]], [[Victor Lynch]], [[Octavia Plumb]], [[Cletus Strain]] and [[Edith Swinebourne]] by launching a gang war between the two rivals.<ref name="ACS" />

===Assassinating Crawford Starrick===
After assassinating Maxwell Roth, Jacob returned to Evie, who scolded him with his disinterest in the Shroud and reckless planning. Evie mentioned their father, a sore topic for Jacob, and the siblings argued. Henry calmed them down and told them about a ball to be held in [[Buckingham Palace]] where Starrick was planning to steal the Piece of Eden and eliminate the heads of church and government.<ref name="ACS" />

Finding this a good opportunity to assassinate Starrick, Jacob formulated a plan with Evie and invited the Disraelis to their hideout. The twins told them their need to enter the ball and offered their plan to steal the invitations of [[Catherine Gladstone|Catherine]] and [[William Gladstone]], much to the Disraelis' glad approval.<ref name="ACS" />

Jacob then headed to the Gladstones' house to recover the invitations and eventually tracked Mrs. Gladstone and hijacked her carriage. Finding that weaponry was not allowed in the ball, Jacob asked Frederick Abberline for ideas and the latter told him to acquire the royal guards' uniform. The Assassin proceeded to St. Martin's Church, stole one, giving it to Abberline.<ref name="ACS" />

The twins successfully managed to infiltrate the ball using the Gladstones' carriage and invitations. Jacob sought out Frederick Abberline for their smuggled weapons. The sergeant told Jacob that Starrick had disguised his own men with the royal guards. The Assassin came to the rescue, killing all of the impostors. Afterwards, Jacob sent his sister a signal.<ref name="ACS" />

However, Evie lost her Precursor necklace to Starrick and ordered her brother to locate the [[Buckingham Palace crypt|crypt]]. Jacob made his way to the vault, finding Starrick with the Shroud. He failed to attack the Templar; instead, Starrick choked him. The vault's activated defense mechanism sent Jacob sprawling to the floor. Finally recovering, Jacob had to save his sister in return from the clutch of Starrick. After exchanging more blows with Starrick, the two of them were trapped.<ref name="ACS" />

Fortunately, Henry Green arrived, throwing a [[Throwing knives|knife]] at the Templar. Joining the fight, Henry too was knocked off his feet by the Templar. Jacob and Evie continued the fight and manged to remove the Shroud and end Starrick's life. With the Templar threat gone, the rift between the siblings vanished. Jacob returned the Shroud as Evie attended at Henry's side.<ref name="ACS" />

A short time later, the three Assassins met with Queen Victoria, who was grateful to her saviors. The queen knighted them to her Order of the Sacred Garter. The twins then raced off to their hideout, leaving Henry behind.<ref name="ACS" />

===Rebuilding the London Brotherhood===
With the Templar Grand Master eliminated, the twins continued their struggle to help London's underclass. During that time, Jacob and Evie would eventually go their separate ways with Evie and Henry relocating to [[India]] while Jacob remained in the city to maintain the Rooks and reinforce the Brotherhood with new [[apprentices]]. He also had at least one child, a son, who was also invested into the Assassin Order.<ref name="JR" />

One of his initiates was a young boy from the Lambeth Asylum nicknamed "[[Jack the Ripper|Jack the Lad]]" and together with new initiates, Jacob joined his sister in India in order to learn the fear tactics of the [[Indian Assassins]].<ref name="JR" />

===Autumn of Terror===
Sometime after returning to London, Jacob came to blows with his apprentice Jack, who had developed an extremist view of the Assassins' mission and his own warped variant of [[the Creed]]. He eventually lost control of the Rooks to Jack, who intended to use the gang to further his goals. In retaliation, Jacob sent a few of his female initiates after Jack, disguised as [[Courtesans|prostitutes]]. His efforts proved to be in vain, however, with Jack brutally eliminating all opposition sent his way. This marked the beginning of the [[Whitechapel murders]], otherwise known as the Autumn of Terror.<ref name="JR" />

On the night of 30 September 1888, Jacob approached the journalist [[Arthur Weaversbrook]], who had been publishing Jack's letters for the public to read. He demanded that Weaversbrook discontinue the publishing of the letters and berated him for turning Jack into a legend.<ref name="JR" />

After his conversation with Weaversbrook, Jacob caught wind of a peering Jack nearby and rushed to his Whitechapel lodgings. Midway, a fight broke out in a cemetery, where Jack injured Jacob and gained the upper hand. Jacob continued to flee and escaped to his lodgings via horse-drawn carriage. There, an injured Jacob was ambushed and overpowered in combat, resulting in him being kidnapped and locked away in a cell beneath Lambeth Asylum.<ref name="JR" />

Prior to his abduction, Jacob had requested the return of his sister. Honoring the request, Evie began searching for him and investigating the murder scenes of Jack's many victims. Jacob was eventually located by his sister, barely alive and in a semi-conscious state. After killing Jack and his accomplices, Evie went to help her brother and, with the aid of Inspector Frederick Abberline, obscured the identity of the Ripper to prevent the potential compromising of the Brotherhood.<ref name="JR" />

Jacob was an impulsive, reckless and rebellious individual with a quick wit and an aggressive demeanor. While he was brought up as an Assassin, Jacob grew up under a strict lifestyle that restricted his active behavior. As a result, he began to resent his father as well as his teachings, and usually lost his composure when Evie brought their deceased father into their arguments. Furthermore, he did not appear to be a fervent believer in [[the Creed]]'s tenets like his sister, preferring action over philosophical thoughts and a good fight over discretion. As such, he was easily dismissive of Pieces of Eden, preferring to focus on his targets.<ref name="ACS" />

Coupled with his reckless behavior, Jacob remained oblivious to the chaos created by his actions. Assassinating Starrick's Templar associates created as much harm as good, and when brought up by Evie, Jacob simply dismissed them. Instead, he justified his actions by claiming he was doing something proactive in toppling Starrick's power, unlike Evie who was obsessed in tracking down the Pieces of Eden.<ref name="ACS" />

However, complementing his impulsive and reckless behavior, Jacob was very good at thinking on his feet, part of the reason he survived his own recklessness. Also, as a gang leader, Jacob proved himself as a criminal strategist and organizer.<ref name="ACS" />

While "having fun" was very important to Jacob, he was not above altruistic acts and fighting for the disenfranchised. Furthermore, he had no desire to harm any innocent civilians, cutting off all ties with Maxwell Roth for doing so. Upon seeing how dangerous Roth's anarchism was, Jacob finally realized the flaw in his own idea of freedom. As such, he came to understand the tenets of the Creed, and acknowledged that his father was right all along.<ref name="ACS" />

Having been trained by the Brotherhood from birth, Jacob was a Master Assassin adept at both stealth and combat, despite his preference for the latter, he proved efficient in the use of the [[Hidden Blade]] as he could eliminate his targets with great skill. He also proved capable in [[eavesdropping]], [[pickpocketing]] and [[lockpicking]]. <ref name="ACS" />

He was a skilled [[Freerunning|freerunner]], able to scale the tall buildings of London aswell as climb natural elements - including trees - with relative ease. Quick and athletic, he was able to instantly transverse over and under several obstacles as well as moving terrains, additionaly he proved to be a capable [[Swimming|swimmer]].

An experienced brawler, Jacob was proficient in hand-to-hand combat, able to engage multiple opponents simultaniously with minimal effort, where he could utilise his [[brass knuckles]] to employ more brutal take-downs. Due to the era's restriction on open weaponry, Jacob utilized an arsenal of hidden tools including his dual Hidden Blades, one of which was equipped with a rope launcher – a versatile tool that he could utilize to access and scale areas quickly, as well as create [[ziplines]].<ref name="ACS" />

Accompanying this, the Hidden Blade was equipped with a mechanism that fired hallucinogenic darts; firing a dart into an open flame would result in a poisonous gas cloud, allowing Jacob to eliminate multiple enemies from a distance. Other weapons in his possession included a [[kukri]] blade, a [[cane-sword]], a six-shot [[Firearms|revolver]] and throwing knives.<ref name="ACS" />

Additionally, Jacob possessed the rare ability of [[Eagle Vision]].<ref name="ACS" />

*Jacob's name is of Biblical origin, with the meaning being either ''he who grasps the heel'' or ''supplanter''. Frye is a derivative of the English word ''free''.
*Much like [[Aveline de Grandpré]], Jacob possessed additional headwear other than the traditional beaked Assassin hood, being able to wear a cap or top hat.
*Jacob keeps a shilling around his neck as a memento.
*Jacob possesses a scar on his right eyebrow, as well as one on the left side of his beard.
*Jacob has a tattoo of a raven on his left collarbone and another depicting a stylized cross on the shoulder.
