The Assassin Insignia of the Assassin Order, though varying slightly over different time periods and countries, holds essentially the same shape and style. Each of its variations also possibly denote the various sects of the Order.

In Assassin's Creed, the insignia is used to mark the entrances of Assassins' Bureaus, and is seen on the banners decorating the fortress of Masyaf. Within Assassin's Creed II, it is used on the mechanisms in the many Assassin's Tombs, and on the banners and walls of Monteriggioni. In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, it is displayed on the banners hung in the Tiber Island Headquarters.

The Assassins insignia has also been seen on Ezio's new robes in Assassin's Creed: Revelations on the buckle on his chest, totally unadorned and resembling a simple triangle with curved lines.

Additionally, the insignia is worn openly on the armor and clothing of certain known Assassins, such as Mario Auditore, Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Nikolai Orelov. Certain modern-day Assassins also wear the insignia in the form of a tattoo, such as Desmond Miles and Daniel Cross.

Trivia
*In the Sanctuary, all of the statues have different Assassin insignias (differing from their unique Assassin's Seals) on their waists, which are deviations of the original one. For example, Amunet's insignia bears two snakes.
*In Brotherhood, Desmond searches for Assassin insignias painted onto the walls to guide him to the Colosseum Vault.
*The insignia bears some resemblance to the symbol of the Freemasons (the Square and Compasses).
*Both the original insignia and the Russian variation are vertically asymmetrical, unlike the Italian variation. However, the symmetry of the Italian logo is most likely because of the Italian Renaissance at the time, in which mathematical proportions and symmetry were standard.
*The original insignia is most likely influenced by the Greek letter "Delta." "Delta" is asymmetrical, and denotes change in mathematics. This fits well into the Assassins' goals.
*The original Assassin Insignia can be seen on the back of the Armor of Brutus in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
However, for unknown reasons, it was still featured in Altaïr's Chronicles and the Gameloft mobile version of Assassin's Creed.

Assassin's Creed (mobile phone version)
Altaïr obtains a crossbow prior to his confrontation with Majd Addin. The crossbow can be used to kill enemies at a safe distance, to trigger gear mechanisms or to shoot down flameholders to light torches. The ammunition of the weapon can be refilled by walking into a weapon recharge point.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Features
The crossbow is a ranged weapon that can be purchased for 12,800 florins at any blacksmith shop. After purchasing the weapon, the number of bolts may be upgraded by buying the medium quiver and large quiver from tailor shops. Each quiver increases the maximum number of bolts carry able by 5 each time, the default number of bolts being 15 and the maximum being 25, however, in order to unlock the large quiver, you must complete the shop quest Pulling Threads.

Stealth usage
The crossbow is like the pistol's complementary ranged weapon; it has the same range, but is silent. The way the crossbow is fired is similar to the pistol in Assassin's Creed II, though it aims faster (equal to the increased aiming speed of the pistol in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood) and can be fired while moving and while on beams. Targeting is accomplished by locking onto an enemy and holding the Armed Hand button, which causes diamond markings to close in and form a white line as the weapon is aimed. Unlike the pistol, which alert guards the moment it is fired, the crossbow only calls attention to Ezio when the target collapses.

Combat usage
The crossbow can be used in battle as well as stealthily. In battle, it can be fired at close range, as well as used to counter an enemy's attack. When fired at close range, the crossbow will kill the targeted enemy but doing so will incur a rather long reload time. Non-Player Characters like crossbowmen and some horsemen will use the crossbow in battle, repeatedly firing at Ezio, while at close range as well as long range.

Kill Animations
The crossbow features some animations while counter-killing opponents. The crossbow cannot counter long or heavy weapons. Note: 1: Does not need ammunition or a reload to be performed, 2: Needs ammunition and must be reloaded in order to be performed.
*Skull Smasher (1): Ezio thrusts his crossbow into the target's abdomen. As his target doubles over, Ezio, with both hands, smashes the bottom of his crossbow onto the back of his target's head, forcing the target to land face-first onto the ground.
*Suffocation (1): Ezio forcefully thrusts his target with the metal, beak-like tip of his crossbow twice. The first time in the abdomen, and the second time in the neck. The target slowly backs up and falls to his knees, holding his neck while choking, and collapses.
*Neck Shot (2): Ezio thrusts his crossbow first into the target's abdomen and then in his neck, firing the crossbow the moment it makes contact with the enemy.
*Spinal Shot (2): Ezio thrusts his crossbow into the target's abdomen, and then steps back to shoot him directly down the back of his neck as he doubles over in pain.
*Trip Shot (2): Ezio ducks, spins around, and sweeps his target off of his feet with the crossbow. Ezio then quickly rises upright and shoots his target who is lying dazed on the ground.

Trivia
*The crossbow functions the same way as the Pistol, however, it is less powerful, as it does not always kill certain targets such as Borgia Captains, unlike the hidden gun, which always guarantees a kill, unless used on a boss.
*Most of the time, when Ezio performs the Trip Shot counter attack, the firing sound will not occur.
*During the Animus loading screen, if Ezio draws his crossbow, a single crossbow bolt can be found lying on the ground. It disappears when the crossbow is put away and vice versa.
*When performing certain actions with the crossbow, Ezio's upper body does not move at all (besides the arm holding the crossbow while he is drawing it/beginning to aim/sheathing it). This may give Ezio a robotic appearance when running, as his entire upper body is completely still while performing any actions.
*In a trailer seen at E3 (above picture of Ezio on the colosseum) Ezio is seen equipped with a different crossbow to the one in Brotherhood. This one is the same as the ones the crossbowmen guards use.

The Crossbow is a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. It was originally seen in the introduction for the first Assassin's Creed, but was not included due to historical inaccuracies.

This one is the same as the crossbowmen use.

Possible Improvised Weapons
Assassin's Creed II
*Hoes
*Rakes
*Brooms
*Pitchforks
*Fishing poles
*Violins (used by certain Minstrels, only available during Carnevale)
*The halves of a broken spear (upper part acts like a sword, lower part like a mace)

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
*Rakes
*Brooms
*Mallets
*Shovels
*Pickaxes
*Pitchforks
*Meat cleavers
*Fishing poles
*The halves of a broken spear

Use
All of the improvised weapons can be picked up like any other one-handed weapon, after they are dropped by civilians or guards. Civilians will drop what they are carrying once Ezio gently pushes or runs into them, when a fight starts, or if money is thrown near them. The "weapons" are then discarded once a fight is finished, or once Ezio enters a Free Running sequence.

These "weapons" act mainly as hammers or maces, using the same animations and sound effects. They cannot be kept, and their attacks are sometimes nonsensical. For example, Ezio can slice an enemy's throat with a broom after a grab, exactly the way he does with a sword.

Achievements
In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the "Spring Cleaning" achievement can be earned by killing a guard with a broom.
Trivia
Assassin's Creed II
*A certain glitch referred to as an "invisible sword" can partially be classified as an improvised weapon. It can be obtained by simply using a spear counter on a two-handed guard, and trying to punch. The invisible sword uses the unarmed slot, swings like a sword when attacking, and allows only instant kills and counters.
*Some improvised weapons can be kept with a glitch, but will be lost when going to another city or randomly during excessive combat. To do this, you must have an empty sword sheath, which can be achieved by letting a Brute smash your sword or mace away. Afterwards, simply pick up one of the objects listed above, and you may be able to keep them.
**An alternate way to empty your sword sheath is to go to the Monteriggioni Training Ring and practice "Picking Up Weapons." Ezio's sword will drop out of his scabbard automatically.
*Guards can also use these improvised weapons, as long as you disarm them and there is no other weapon available. It's easier to make guards use them during DNA Sequence 1, as guards do not yet have weapons.
*When you rescue Bartolomeo d'Alviano in the memory "Caged Fighter," he uses a broom to fight until he picks up a proper weapon from a fallen guard.
*The violin sounds like a sword, but acts like a mace.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
*Although shovels can be used as weaponry in-game, it is most likely that their coding was never finished. In-game, Ezio wields a shovel by the grip one-handed, with the blade pointing behind him instead of forward. Also, when the shovel is swung, the blade and staff clip through Ezio's body. (Tested on PS3, Xbox 360, PC).
*The “Spring Cleaning” achievement is also awarded when you kill a guard with your dual-wielded pistol, while holding a broom in the other hand.
*Nearly all improvised weapons can be found in use by civilians in the Delizia di Belriguardo, during the memory "The One Who Got Away."
*When Ezio uses the meat cleaver it works like a mace or a warhammer as opposed to a knife or a sword.

Armor is featured in all of the Assassin's Creed installments, and has ranged from simple character design to an effective upgradeable system.

In Assassin's Creed II and onwards, the player may visit blacksmiths to purchase new, improved armor that can to increase player health and damage resistance. This armor, however, can be broken after the player takes too much damage, and temporarily costs them health squares until they pay a blacksmith to repair their armor.

Assassin's Creed
In the first Assassin's Creed game, Altaïr has light armor that consists of leather greaves, leather vambraces, and a leather belt. The vambrace on his left forearm has what appears to be metal plating, but it does not function as armor in the game and is likely only there for decorative purposes, for distinguishing a heightened status within the Assassin Order, or for concealing the Hidden Blade. Because Desmond loses synchronization with Altaïr whenever Altaïr is struck during combat, it is implied that Altaïr was never hit or wounded in armed conflict or during assassinations. This would be feasible, given Altaïr's capabilities as a warrior and his lineage (Those Who Came Before). Using the Apple of Eden, Altaïr created the Codex pages, as well as a new suit of armor for himself, one that was almost impossible to damage. This new armor would be passed down to each of Altaïr's descendants, eventually being hidden away in the Sanctuary beneath the Villa Auditore.

Other Characters
Armor does appear on other characters in the game, and there are differences in the styles worn by guards in each city. The guards in Damascus can be found in either lamellar, leather, or ringmail armor. Guards in Acre can be found in brigantine armor and chain mail, some complete with coifs. Guards in Jerusalem are often found wearing scale or splintmail. Each of these guard types can be found in the Kingdom near their respective cities. The Knights Templar uniformly wear full suits of chain mail covered in a white tabbard with a red steel helm covering their face. Most (if not all) of the Knights Templar wear their signature red cross openly, whereas future Templars bear the cross symbol more subtly.

Ezio can purchase different types of armor from blacksmiths found throughout the game's various cities. There are five sets of armor that can be purchased, each with four individual pieces: chest plates, greaves, spaulders, and vambraces.
Leather Armor is the first available armor and provides health bonuses, but no resistance bonuses. Later, Ezio can purchase 'Helmschmied', a variant of leather with metal inlays, 'metal armor' and 'Missaglias', a stylized set of 'metal armor'. Every armor after the leather set offers health bonuses and resistance bonuses. Armor can be damaged through combat or by falling from buildings, so it is necessary to repair it at blacksmiths regularly. Each armor has a set number of circles that it can resist. In general, twenty squares of combat or falling damage to your synch bar will remove one circle of resistance from every piece of armor you have equipped.

The player is able to unlock Altaïr's improved armor by collecting six Assassin seals from the tombs of six different Assassins. After finding and placing all 6 seals in the Sanctuary, Ezio unlocks the armor of his ancestor. It consists of black clothing, with specially made armor integrated into it, akin to the mythical properties of the Golden Fleece. As such, the armor never needs to be repaired. When dyed by the player, all that changes is the inside color of the armor. Page 19 of Altaïr's Codex reveals that this, the only suit made, was owned and/or created by Altaïr, who destroyed the written formula out of fear of the armor becoming widely used, either by friend or foe alike.

Other Characters
All types of soldiers in Assassin's Creed II are armored to varying degrees, with archers as the lightest, followed by Agiles, regular soldiers, Seekers, and Brutes. Elite soldiers wear heavier armor than regular soldiers, making them more resistant to Ezio's attacks and counter-attacks.

At the start of Brotherhood, Ezio loses the Armor of Altaïr during the Siege of Monteriggioni, forcing him to run into battle clothed in a simple shirt, trousers and boots. Later on in Rome, Ezio's new robes and armor are anonymously given to him by Machiavelli. Ezio's newer attire resembles the clothes of Altaïr, with longer robes and a longer hood. Ezio's outfit's armor comes only with a spaulder and a single vambrace. In the game, Ezio's initial new spaulder is leather, while the cover art depicts him wearing a metal spaulder. His new hidden blade bracer is the same as it is on the cover, as well as his hidden blade. But like the metal spaulder, Ezio's second hidden blade does not appear like the one on the cover. Instead, it is a brown glove like his original second hidden blade used in the Assassin's Creed II E3 Demo, and also on pre-released Assassin's Creed II pictures. The second blade is originally displayed as an identical blade and bracer as his primary blade and bracer. Vambraces for the second hidden blade can be bought at a blacksmith only when the the second hidden blade is purchased from Leonardo, but none of the vambraces have the design of the bracer shown in the cover art.

Ezio is able to purchase armor upgrades, just like in Assassin's Creed II, in a blacksmith shop. It is also possible to complete specific quests for the blacksmith shop on Tiber Island and unlock parts of the Seusenhofer armor. The only set of armor that cannot be purchased in-game is the Helmschmied Drachen Armor.
Armor designs in Brotherhood has changed and still following the ways armor are given metal inlays during the second and last set of purchasable armors from Assassin's Creed II, the Roman armor set is made of leather while the Rondelle armor set has the same design with metal inlays, the Plate armor is the unstylized with metal inlays of the Seusenhofer armor. When all six Keys of Romulus are obtained, Ezio is given the Armor of Brutus which has a very bulky look and gives out 25 health squares without the need of repairing.

Recruits
Ezio's assassin recruits can also wear armour; this can be upgraded as the assassin levels up, free of charge. A recruit starts with no armour, but can aquire leather pauldrons, leather greaves, leather chest guard, and finally metal chest guard (which replaces the leather chest guard). With 'level four' armour, which is the best recruits can have, they have more than double their original health, making armour extremely useful.

Other Characters
Guards are armored similarly to as they were in Assassin's Creed II, with the addition of the Papal Guard as the most heavily armored opponents in the game. Of the new guard archetypes, the Crossbowmen are equal in defense to Archers, while Arquebusiers match standard guards.
