In his adventure, Ezio will discover the Auditore Family Villa, in the city of Monteriggioni. Perched atop a beautiful Tuscan valley, Monteriggioni has become run down and is badly in need of repair. Constructed in 1290, the Villa Auditore is an important medieval predecessor to early Renaissance architecture. The Villa’s wonderful symmetry and ordered geometry were a revelation for its time.

Not only concerned with aesthetics, Domenico Auditore, Ezio Auditore’s great-grandfather, designed his home to double as a fortress and training ground, looking out both over the city that it protects and the Tuscan plains.

After a Florentine attack in 1320 left the facade damaged, the present facade was erected and a painting gallery was added to the interior.

Domenico was more than just and architect and a warrior: he was also a skilled engineer. Hidden compartments and rooms with mechanisms blocking entry are several unique features of the building that make it a technological marvel as well as an architectural one.

Ezio is able to renovate both the town of Monteriggioni and the Auditore Villa. By investing in shops, Ezio can gain discounts to their wares, whilst improving the local economy. You may also choose to redecorate the Auditore Villa with famous renaissance paintings, weapons and armor, and store a variety of collected objects. These items increase the worth of the Villa, and so the revenue generated each 20 minutes grows. When the villa has been improved to 100% completion, it will yield 15000 florins every 20 minutes, with a chest capacity of 60000 florins. As the player invests in Monteriggioni, the Villa's outside appearance improves over time. Boards across windows are taken down, overgrown plants recede, and flags bearing the assassin symbol appear around the roof. While the shop's appearance will improve, Monteriggioni's citizens always seem to be poorer (in clothing) than their counterparts from the cities.

Claudia and Maria Auditore remain at the villa for the rest of the game. Claudia keeps records of Monteriggioni's income, while Maria prays in one of the bedrooms while you store feather collected in a chest.

Mario has an office that contains a wall-space where deciphered Codex Pages can be placed and pieced together.

Assassin's Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is a hidden chamber located inside the family mansion of Auditore Villa.

The sanctuary was built by Ezio's great-grandfather along with the villa. Located inside it is a sort of Hall of Fame, there are 7 statues from the Master Assassins from the past. Built at alcoves, the statues form a semi-circle on the room. In the center alcove, a statue of Altaïr is locked behind 6 bars. On the statue's stand stone, the legendary Altaïr's Armor is set, protected by the locks from the 6 Assassin's Seals.

Revealed by Mario, the chamber and the statues include Persian, Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Chinese assassins monuments, representing the Middle Eastern, European and Asian orders from around the world.

Monteriggioni Family Crypt
Beneath the Family's mansion, is located the Monteriggioni Family Crypt, a place similar to the six Assassin Tombs Ezio finds throughout the world. While there is no major reward, he discovers information about Ezio's great-grandfather, his history as an Auditore and an Assassin, and the buildings of Monteriggioni.

There is 2,000 florins to be had at the end of the level - 500 florins more than any other Assassin Tomb - but the real reward and meaning of the place is the information about the origins of the Auditore family.
A final evil for a greater good. We are the same!
Abu'l Nuqoud is one of the nine people Al Mualim wants Altaïr to assassinate. He is found in the city of Damascus, in its rich district

Description
Abu'l Nuqoud is a very large, corpulent, and wealthy man. He is a lavished merchant king of the city of Damascus. He decorates his home with the finest decor, and feasts upon only the finest of foods. The name "Abu'l Nuqoud" means the man who has a lot of money (literally the father (abu) of money (nuqoud)).

However, Abu'l has great disdain for the poor citizens of the city. He sees them as nothing more than a source of all the crime, disease, and other poor things in the world. With that, he takes perverse pleasure from seeing them die painful deaths. He is also incredibly self centered, and loves nothing more than to show off his generosity to the people of Damascus.

Death
As Altaïr seeks out Abul Nuqouds' life, the merchant king decides to throw a lavish party at his palace for the nobility of Damascus (paid for with money stolen from the city's treasuries). After the guests have settled down, Abu'l proposes a toast to their generosity, then proceeds to lambaste them for their hatred and hypocrisy in supporting Saladin and his war campaign. It is revealed (while Altaïr combed the city tracking his target) that he had poisoned the wine to get revenge on the people who tormented him with their cruel words and bigotry, and he orders his men to kill anyone who tries to escape from the party. Altair takes advantage of the panic to assassinate Abu'l.

In his dying speech, Abu'l says that he did not join up with the Templars for revenge, but to create a new, better world instead of pretending to follow a god who called him an abomination. This hints that Abu'l is homosexual, a possible reason for his resentment of the Upper Classes as, while his position would keep him from being directly challenged, the upper classes would mock and judge him about his sexuality. He also challenges Altair's willingness to strike down those Al Mualim ordered him to, remarking that Altair doubts the worthiness of his cause.

Final Words
Altaïr: Be at peace now. Their words can no longer do harm.

Abu'l: Why have you done this!?

Altaïr: You stole money from those you claimed to lead, sent it away for some unknown purpose. I want to know where it's gone and why!

Abu'l: Look at me! My very nature is an affront to the people I ruled, and these noble robes did little more than to muffle their shouts of hate.

Altaïr: So this is about vengeance, then?

Abu'l: No, not vengeance, but my conscience. How could I finance a war in service to the same god that calls me an abomination?

Altaïr: If you do not serve Saladin's cause, then whose?

Abu'l: In time, you'll come to know them: I think perhaps you already do.

Altaïr: Then why hide? And why these dark deeds?

Abu'l: Is it so different from your own work? You take the lives of men and women, strong in the conviction that their deaths will improve the lots of those left behind: a final evil for a greater good. We are the same!

Altaïr: No! We are nothing alike!

Abu'l: Ah, but I see it in your eyes: you doubt. You cannot stop us...we will have our "New World"!

Trivia
* He runs suprisingly fast if he sees you coming.
* He is the only target without any weapon upon him. He will turn to fight you if he makes it to a guard tower and recieves a sword, however.
* When looking at his face closely, you can see him suffering from severe acne.
* Its also possible that he may have been homosexual. As when people talk about him they say that he is "different" in an akward voice. Also he says that he cannot finance a war to the same god that calls him an abomination. A reference to the hatred of homosexuality in those times. Another indication is that, in the speech cutscene, he demonstrates some affection to one of his guards by stroking his arm. It may also be another reason why people hate him.
