'''Tessa Kenway''', née '''Stephenson-Oakley''', was the second wife of [[Edward Kenway]], the mother of [[Haytham Kenway]], the grandmother of [[Ratonhnhaké:ton]], and an ancestor of [[Desmond Miles]].

Alongside Edward's daughter [[Jenny Kenway|Jenny ]]from his first marriage, Tessa, Edward and Haytham lived in Queen Anne's Square in [[England|London]], which through her family connections, she had assisted Edward in purchasing. There, Tessa treated Haytham with unequivocal affection, until the night came where she witnessed him kill an assailant to protect her, during the time where their home was broken into. As a result of this attack, Haytham's father Edward, an [[Assassins|Assassin]], was killed for a tome that he possessed, which contained encoded information about the [[First Civilization]].

Following this, on seeing her son as a killer, as opposed to the innocent boy he had been prior to the assault, Tessa agreed to let [[Reginald Birch]] train Haytham in Europe. On this arrangement, she stayed behind in England to oversee the reconstruction of the Kenway home, but passed away some years later.

'''Jenny Kenway''' was the daughter of [[Edward Kenway]] and [[Caroline Scott]], and the half-sister of [[Haytham Kenway]]. She was kidnapped in 1735 from her home in Queen Anne's Square by the men of [[Reginald Birch]], her suitor, after her father had been killed. She was sold to slavers, and in one point of her life she became a concubine in the [[Topkapi Palace]]. In 1757 she was transported to [[Damascus]], to serve under the Ottoman covernot in charge, As'ad Pasha al-Azm. Since she was in her mid forties she was too old to be a concubine. When Haytham and his loyal friend, Holden, infiltrated the palace to find her, she was a servant under one of the concubines. She was ultimately rescued by Haytham.

Later she returned to London to take hold of the mansion in Queen Anne's Square. She and Haytham stayed in touch, but their correspondence was distant since neither of them knew each other.

Birch met [[Haytham Kenway]], son of Birch's [[Assassins|Assassin]] rival [[Edward Kenway]], at a young age. In 1733, on Haytham's eighth birthday, Birch accompanied the Kenway family as they were walking home from a trip to ''{{Wiki|White's Chocolate House}}'' on Chesterfield Street, when the group were attacked by a mugger. Birch threatened to kill the man, whose attempt to rob Tessa of her necklace had failed. However, he was dissuaded by Edward, who was infuriated at Reginald's harsh vigilantism. At the time, Birch was a potential suitor to Haytham's half-sister, [[Jenny Kenway]], as well as an associate of Edward and, as such, visited the Kenway Manor often. One such time he had a discussion with the young Haytham, who unknowingly revealed the location of his father's most prized and hidden possessions. Haytham later heard his father and Birch arguing in loud voices, ending with Birch storming out of the office.
