Leandros (unknown - 1511) was a member of the Templar Order, and the captain of a small Byzantine garrison stationed in Masyaf.

Biography
Search at Masyaf
Since at least 1510, Leandros' Byzantine forces had ruled the Syrian city of Masyaf, the former seat of the Assassin Order, after coming across Niccolò Polo's journal, "The Secret Crusade." From it, they learned of Mentor Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's hidden library, and its keys.

A year of searching the fortress finally led them to its entrance, but even after three months of attempted excavation to open the door, Leandros and his men were ultimately unsuccessful.

In 1511, Ezio Auditore da Firenze also journeyed to the city in search of the library, but was unaware of the Templar army that occupied it. Leandros' soldiers attacked him in great force, though Leandros himself only watched the battle from above. Despite suffering many losses, they eventually managed to capture the Assassin.

Leandros' forces later led the Assassin up to the castle's watchtower to be executed by hanging, and Leandros personally tied the noose around Ezio's neck. However, as soon as he did, Ezio lunged back at him and managed to wind the rope around his would-be executioner's neck.

Ezio then leapt off the plank, tightening the noose around Leandros' throat, and forcing the soldiers to cut him free. As he recovered from the attempted strangulation, Leandros angrily ordered his men to pursue Ezio, who had escaped along the exterior of the tower.

Shortly after, Leandros left Masyaf by carriage, though Ezio soon caught up and lunged at his carriage, holding onto a tailing rope tied to the wagon. After several attempts to shake the Assassin off, Leandros finally gave up, jumping onto the carriage of one of his soldiers, and throwing the unfortunate driver from the seat.

Ezio took control of Leandros' previous carriage and continued the pursuit, and eventually, as they jostled for position on a narrow mountain path, Leandros managed to outmaneuver Ezio and slip past him.

A guard then tossed a bomb under Ezio's carriage, throwing both it and him over the cliff edge. Just as Leandros commanded his men to guard the path from any intruders, the heavily wounded Ezio managed to climb up the cliff and face the soldiers again.

Seeing that the Assassin was injured, Leandros ordered his men to bring him his head, before heading into the village.

Death
Unbeknownst to Leandros, Ezio bested his men and silently pursued him through the village, using his Eagle Sense to follow Leandros' trail. Eventually, Leandros headed into a fortress, at which point Ezio revealed himself.

After taunting Ezio, Leandros boasted that there was nowhere for Ezio to run. Ezio simply replied "Not for me, and not for you!" before severing the chain holding the portcullis open, and blocking Leandros' reinforcements.

Leandros fled up a tower, with Ezio in close pursuit. Once they both reached the top, Leandros asked Ezio what it would take to kill him, to which Ezio asked if Leandros ever stopped howling, before stabbing him with his hidden blade. (Trivia: Even though Ezio's secondary Hidden Blade was broken when he got it, he is still able to use it to kill Leandros.)

As Leandros lay dying, he revealed that his fellow Templars were already closing in on the Masyaf Keys, with which they could find the location of the Grand Temple. As Leandros breathed his last, Ezio retrieved the journal of Niccolò Polo from his body.

Leandros was an able fighter, though he preferred using his soldiers to defeat his enemies. He also had a significant violent streak, threatening his workers with death should they try to leave.

He also held little respect for the lives of his men, throwing one from a moving carriage in order to save himself, and furiously telling a group to either follow his orders, or throw themselves off a cliff.

In physical appearance, Leandros was strongly built, though he had noticeable scars across his face, leading to one of his workers referring to him as "that ugly captain."
The Temple of Pythagoras was an ancient temple located beneath Rome, built by the Pythagoreans, the followers of Pythagoras.

History
During his time at the Villa Auditore, Leonardo da Vinci researched about the Temple of Pythagoras. As his research advanced, he decided to draw a map to its entrance, and used invisible ink to sketch the pieces of the map onto his paintings on the villa's walls. However, when the city was attacked, the paintings fell into the hands of the Borgia family.

As Leonardo continued his research until 1506 in Rome, he eventually came into contact with the Cult of Hermes. He frequently visited the personal library of the Cult's leader, Ercole Massimo, in order to acquire even more information on the subject. Eventually, he was kidnapped by the Hermeticists, who desired the location of the temple, and the "Pythagorean Unifier" that was said to be hidden within it.

The Assassin Ezio Auditore managed to gather the paintings and, with the help of Leonardo's assistant Salaì, discovered the temple's location. Upon rescuing Leonardo from the cultists, the two ventured deeper to explore the Temple of Pythagoras together, until they eventually stumbled upon the final chamber, a vault with a strange device in its center. When Ezio placed his hand on it, his DNA communed with the pedestal, revealing the coordinates: 43 39 19N 75 27 42W. Ultimately, however, he decided that it would be best to leave it and do nothing, saying that the message was not meant for them.

Trivia
*The aforementioned coordinates reveal a reservoir, which is connected to Black River near the village of Turin, in proximity to Whetstone Gulf State Park in New York - This location is roughly in the same area as one shown when Ezio uses his Eagle Vision after the Codex Pages are put together [1].
*Connecting the above coordinates with Rome, New York to the South and Florence, New York to the West while measuring the approximate distances with Bing maps results in an almost perfect Pythagorean triangle.
*The place where the coordinates lead are near another place to the west called Mohawk Hill. Whether this is a reference to the upcoming game or not is unknown.

Pope Alexander VI and his daughter, Lucrezia Borgia, in particular used it for political assassinations.

Rodrigo Borgia attempted to poison his own son, Cesare Borgia, with cantarella concealed within an apple after Cesare abused his position as Captain General of the Papal army. Cesare did not consume a lethal amount of the poison, but it did render him ill for months after.
After Rodrigo Borgia attempted to poison his son, Cesare force-fed him the same cantarella-filled apple, resulting in his death.

Trivia
These items are indicated with an Animus visual effect to help distinguish them better from the surrounding environment. Trap doors and merchandise lifts take 3-5 seconds before they are usable again.

Types of Chase-Breakers
Lifts
Lifts
The lifts in the program functioned in the same manner, however, the weight would not break upon being dropped, and would instead slowly rise back into position. The lift would become available to others in roughly 3-5 seconds.

Trap doors/Portcullises
Trap doors
Trap doors consist of one or more sets of gates that close once a player runs through them, effectively stopping any other player or enemy from following. After a few seconds, however, they reopen, allowing other players to run through them.

Crumbling beams/platforms
Crumbling beams
When a player free-runs over these Chase-Breakers, they will disintegrate, allowing the player to gain an advantage over his or her pursuer. However, if they do not leave the beam quick enough, it may crumble from underneath them.

Corner-mounted flowerpots
These flowerpots disappear for a few seconds after a player swings on them to turn a corner.

Chandeliers
Chandeliers
Chandeliers are only featured in the map Castel Gandolfo. Chandeliers work like dropping planks of wood in other maps by dropping to the ground when run over by the player.

Trivia
*Though only usable by the player in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, some chase breakers have been around since Assassin's Creed II.
*Chase-breakers return in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. In this game's campaign, however, there is another Chase-Breaker, which are soldiers of the opposing faction (Byzantines or Ottomans)
Luigi Torcelli was a high-ranking Borgia guard in Rome in 1503.

Biography
On the 1st of August 1503, Luigi and some of his men assembled at the Pantheon, in order to collect the debt payment from Egidio Troche, and deliver it to the Banker.

While Luigi took the money chest from Egidio and carried it into the Pantheon to count its contents, Ezio Auditore da Firenze infiltrated the Pantheon through the oculus on its roof.

As Luigi finished his count, he decided to give the order to have Egidio killed; however, Ezio assassinated Luigi from above before he could alert his men. Ezio stripped him of his guard uniform, and wore it in order to impersonate Luigi, and enter the pagan party at Trastevere.

Trivia
*In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Luigi appears as a strong and high-ranking Borgia guard. In the novelization however, he is described as a withered man, and the Banker's agent, a position Egidio described as a "desk job."
*He and Mario pay homage to the Mario Bros..
The Almogavars were fairly uncommon guards that appeared in Constantinople and Cappadocia during the Renaissance. Roughly comparable to the Brutes from Rome, they fought with heavy weapons, were rather slow compared to other enemies, wore thick armor, and could not freerun. Like the Varangians, the Almogavars were employed by the Byzantines. They are featured in several missions, and were scattered all over the underground city of Cappadocia.

Trivia
*The Almogavars were historically soldiers of Aragonese and Catalan origin. They were known to have worked as mercenaries for the Byzantine Empire.
*The Almogavars, like the Janissaries – except in some missions – are always found carrying the same weapon: the Almogavar Axe.
*The Almogavar Axe can also be used as a weapon, after completing The Champion, Part 1 memory, or taking the axe from a dead Almogavar.
*It is peculiar that Almogavars use heavy weapons in-game, as they used lances and spears historically, a fighting style which is more similar to that of the Seekers than the Brutes. This also happens for the Varangians who are compared to Seekers, but are more akin to Brutes.
*Most Templar Den Captains look and fight like Almogavars. Exceptions include the Bayezid North captain, who appears the same as a Byzantine Militia, and the Imperial South captains, both of whom look like Byzantine gunmen.
*Unlike Brutes in Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Almogavars can be killed with a counter if their attack is not the overhead smash while using a medium weapon or short blade.
*Almogavars seem to have a unique weakness to Datura Bombs, as evidenced from both in the memory "Piri Reis: Datura" and usual gameplay; the poison kills them about twice as fast.
The Dagger of Brutus was a weapon available in Rome, obtained along with the personal armor of Marcus Junius Brutus.

Use
It was heavily implied in the Romulus Scrolls that the dagger was the same weapon Brutus used to kill Gaius Julius Caesar. The weapon was unlocked and made usable by collecting all the Keys of Romulus from the different Lairs of Romulus, and was found in the same underground chamber as the Armor of Brutus. It was the best short blade weapon available to the Assassin Ezio Auditore during the 16th century.
Trivia
*The Dagger of Brutus is modeled after a Roman Pugio, a type of dagger used as a secondary weapon by Roman soldiers during the 1st Century AD.
*When Ezio wields the Dagger of Brutus, enemy morale is reduced by 20 points – low rank guards and crossbowmen will run away after the death of only one regular guard.
*The dagger's kill animations are unique, and differ from those of other short blade weapons that Ezio can wield. They are more intense and much more brute, and as such certain guards that watch an execution with it will flee.
Doctors were health care providers who practiced in the profession of medicine. Found on the streets of every European city and wearing black robes, they often wore a mask with a beak-like shape. The Assassin Ezio Auditore could purchase medicine vials from doctors for a fee during the Renaissance period.

Appearance and background
The clothes of the doctors were as usual for those in their profession, particularly after the occurrence of the Black Death, one of the deadliest pandemics in human history. This plague peaked in Europe during the 14th century, and is said to have killed 30% to 60% percent of Europe's population. Subsequent to it, the world's population dropped from an estimated 450 million to between 350 and 375 million in 1400.

To protect themselves from this pandemic, the doctors dressed in a long black cloak covered with a coating of wax, and a very primitive beak-shaped plague mask, although not all doctors wear the mask. Within this Medico Della Peste mask, there were usually flower petals or burning herbs to rid of bad smells since it was believed that the virus was transmitted though "bad air". This mask was occasionally worn during Venice's Carnevale.

The specific mask that doctors wore during the Renaissance period is called the Maschera Dello Speziale (where speziale refers someone who sells every kind of medicinal herb). The "beak" of the mask was often filled with various spices and herbs, as many doctors thought that this was a viable method to avoid infection by various diseases. The eyes of the mask were also made out of glass, as it was believed that sicknesses could be caught by face-to-face contact with patients, or by touching infected objects.

Services
Healing
Doctors would replenish all health after being paid a sum of 50 florins. The Doctor in Monteriggioni decreased the prices of his healing services after renovations of his store.

Medicine
Doctors also sold Medicine (for 75ƒ each), a healing item that could be carried portable pouches. These were identified as smelling salts, and were used as painkillers. The number of Medicine vials Ezio could carry at one time increased when a larger Medicine Pouch was purchased from a Tailor shop.

Poison
In high enough doses, that which cures can kill.Doctors sold Poison vials for a sum of 175ƒ. The use of poison became available only after Leonardo upgraded Ezio's Hidden Blade with the Poison Blade. Poison was useful for discreet assassinations and for the creation of distractions, as it briefly caused victims to go berserk, flailing their weapons around and drawing the attention of nearby guards.

Trivia
*The doctors in the games are based on real-life plague doctors, who only aimed to cure the bubonic plague.
*Ezio cannot harm doctors, but the first doctor encountered in Assassin's Creed II (with Federico), is the only one that can be attacked and killed (only with blades). Doing so does not alert guards, and does not cause or alert you of desynchronization. Also, when killed, the doctor rises again. A video of this "bug" can be found at this link.
*When you engage in a fight with guards in the presence of a doctor, he will often kneel before Ezio and beg not to kill him.
*On occasion, blacksmiths will also be able to restore some health when they repair damaged armor.
*In the novel Assassin's Creed: Renaissance, the doctor that Federico introduces to Ezio is their family doctor, Dottore Ceresa. Also, instead of having a small stand like other doctors in Assassin's Creed II, he operates in an actual store.
*The doctor located in Monteriggioni is the only one to own a store in Assassin's Creed II.
*In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, players can complete the Doctor's quest to upgrade poison sold by doctors to Fast Poison, so that Ezio's victims will become berserk immediately upon infection.
*In Brotherhood, Doctors may occasionally say the German phrase "Auf Wiedersehen" (Meaning "Goodbye")and then exclaim, "That's French!" after exiting the purchase screen.
