==History==
The Sword of Eden was created by Those Who Came Before centuries before the birth of [[Jesus Christ]].

The first usage of the sword by someone other than one of Those Who Came Before was by [[Perseus]], a "demigod" (the child of a god and a mortal), who was given the Sword by his father Zeus to help him slay the [[wikipedia:Gorgon|Gorgon]] [[wikipedia:Medusa|Medusa]].

The Sword came into possession of [[Attila the Hun]] during the 5th century, after a shepherd dug it up and took it to Attila.

In the late 5th, early 6th century, [[Arthur]] pulled the Sword, then called '''Excalibur''', out of a stone (alternatively, it is also said that it was a gift from the Lady of the Lake) and used it to become King of England.

Possibly in the late 6th century, Odin, disguised as a beggar, plunged the Sword into a tree called Barnstokkr, claiming that the one who was able to pull it free would receive it as a gift. Only Sigmund was able to pull it free.

In the early 13th century, [[Genghis Khan]] obtained the Sword, which helped him to unite most of northeast Asia and become ruler of the Mongol Empire.

The female warrior [[Jeanne d'Arc]] came into the Sword's possession during the Hundred Years' War, which led to many victories for the French forces over the English and their allies. She was eventually captured by Burgundian soldiers and handed over to the English, who burned her at the stake for committing heresy. The Sword then came into possession of the [[Knights Templar]].

'''Perseus''' was a hero of Ancient Greece. In Greek mythology, he was revered as a hero who was favored by the gods and managed to decapitate the Gorgon, Medusa, whose gaze turned people into stone, after she was transformed into a monster by the Goddess Athena who grew jealous of her beauty. In the Assassin's Creed universe, it is said that he was the son of Zeus, (one of [[Those Who Came Before]]) and a mortal woman, Danaë, who he impregnated by appearing as a golden shower. It is known he was in possession of the [[Piece of Eden]], [[the Sword]], probably given to him by his father, Zeus.

The first known human possessor of the First Apple was Napoleon Bonaparte,<ref name="NAPOLEON APPLE">[[Assassin's Creed II]] - [[Glyphs]] - Puzzle #2 "Sixty-four Squares"</ref> a major force in the French Revolution, and a military and political leader of France who later became Emperor of France under the name Napoleon I. How he came to possess the Apple, how long he had it, and whether he lost it or gave it away, are all unknown.

The next owner was Harry Houdini, a Hungarian-American magician and escapologist, stunt performer, actor and film producer. He used the Apple to do stunts that, even to this day, are considered "impossible".<ref name="HOUDINI HIT IN STOMACH" /> While the official story is that Houdini died from peritonitis from a ruptured appendix, [[Subject 16]]'s [[Glyphs]] in ''[[Assassin's Creed II]]'' indicate that Houdini had been killed by Templar agents (probably J. Gordon Whitehead), so as to take possession of the Apple.

The Apple was then later used in the Kennedy Assassination<ref name="HAT TRICK"/> to cause the "Phantom on the Hill" effect, to help make it more difficult to prosecute Oswald later on, and to disguise the true intentions of the assassination from later examination.
