Mary Jane Kelly (1863 – 9 November 1888) was a prostitute during the Victorian era who is most well known for being the supposed final murder victim of the infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper. Evie Frye, coming back into London after saving Jack's prisoners, comes upon the murder scene and is disgusted and angered by what Jack had done, promising Inspector Frederick Abberline once she had calmed down that she would find the Ripper for the murder, soon discovering through the use of Eagle Vision that Jack had left a message for her in Mary's room.

Trivia
* In the DLC Mary's body is covered up, as opposed to real life where the body could be seen. This was probably done in respect to Mary and in good taste, as Evie's reaction shows to the body of screen, the injuries and mutilations done to Mary by Jack were and still are shocking to see to this day, and could have upset people had Ubisoft shown the body in full detail.

Jack (unknown – 1888), formerly known as Jack the Lad during his youth, and widely feared as "Jack the Ripper", was a member of the British Brotherhood of Assassins, active in the Whitechapel district of London up until 1888.

Jack became infamous in 1888 following a series of gruesome murders of young women, in fact fellow Assassins trying to stop his madness; these murders, in conjunction with Jack's control over London's criminal enterprise, threatened the very existence of the Assassins in London.

Biography
Early life
In his youth, Jack's mother was butchered by the Templars of Crawford Starrick. Traumatized by the loss of his mother, Jack was placed in Lambeth Asylum, where ill-treatments and negligence only further aggravated his mental instability. After the death of Starrick in 1868, he was liberated from the asylum and brought into the Assassin fold by Jacob Frye to be trained among a selection of new initiates.

In 1870, he traveled with Jacob and the other initiates to India in order to learn the fear tactics of the Indian Brotherhood, a group who Jacob's sister, Evie Frye, had joined.

Returning to London
Upon returning to London, Jack began to develop an extremist view of the Assassins' mission. Eventually, Jack usurped control of the Rooks from Jacob and killed anyone sent to deter him. Radicalising his followers, Whitechapel, the centre of Jack's operations, descended into a cesspool of crime and depravity.

Autumn of Terror
During the Autumn of Terror, Jack murdered a number of Assassins sent after him by Jacob, including Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly. With these murders, Jack, under the pseudonym of "Jack the Ripper", started to attract media attention. Arthur Weaversbrook in particular, under duress due to Jack having kidnapped his son, began to publish Jack's letters for the public to inquire.

Having left a message for Jacob nearby, after his former mentor had demanded that Weaversbrook stop publishing the Ripper's letters, Jack trailed and kidnapped a fleeing Jacob, defeating him in combat and locking him up beneath Lambeth Asylum.

Before he was kidnapped, Jacob requested by letter that Evie return to London. With her return, Jack saw the gradual disruption of his plans. He was eventually lured out of the shadows by the assassination of Olwyn Owers at Evie's hands; after Evie assassinated his right hand woman, Jack killed all of the occupants at Owers Manor and subsequently framed the former for the massacre.

He was keeping hostages in old Navy ships and forcing them to write to their families, making demands that were to be met in exchange for the lives of their abducted loved ones. This part of his plan too would be thwarted by Evie, as she dismantled his private prison and informed the police about the abducted hostages. Consequently, Jack resolved to eliminate any witnesses at Deptford that knew of his actions as well as any evidence linking him to the Assassins, in an effort to protect the Brotherhood and his new Creed.

Death
Jack staged a reunion between the Frye twins at Lambeth Asylum, with the intention of killing Evie. He lured Evie to the site of his mother's murder and left her with clues and cues indicating he was located at the asylum. In preparation for her arrival, he killed prominent Lambeth Asylum staff that knew of his childhood confinement there, including his abusive nurse, a doctor and the asylum's director, and destroyed all records of his stay there. To slow Evie's approach, he released all of the asylum's inmates. This all proved to be in vain, however, as Evie defeated him and his incarcerated cohorts in combat and killed him with his own trademark dagger.

Legacy
Following his defeat in late 1888, Jack's true identity, or even the fact that he had been killed, was never revealed by Inspector Frederick Abberline of the Metropolitan Police Service. This was done at the behest of Evie Frye in order to protect the Assassins from discovery and public backlash, due to Jack having been an Assassin himself.

Personality and characteristics
The trauma of losing his mother and his subsequent incarceration at Lambeth Asylum had a lasting effect on Jack's mental stability. Jack's views on the Assassin Order quickly developed; he came to the conclusion that Jacob was responsible, however indirectly, for the death of his mother and the abuse he faced at Lambeth Asylum. He also started to develop a strong disdain for the Creed, considering a creed that couldn't protect its own a dead one.

He brutally murdered all opposition sent against him—Assassins commonly under the guise of local prostitutes—in order to send a message to the Frye twins. He was also meticulous in his plan to destroy all evidence of his existence and prior life, going so far as to do away with a number of Lambeth Asylum staff who might have had any living memory of him as well as documents pertaining to his stay at the asylum.

In spite of his actions against the London Assassins, Jack was careful not to compromise the Brotherhood; despite his lack of respect for the contemporary Creed, he did come to believe in his own idealized version of the philosophy and still saw the Order as a means to an end. While most of his victims managed to hide their Assassin rings before death, at least one had their finger forcibly removed post-mortem in order to hide their connection to the Order. He also destroyed any evidence of his connection to the Assassins at Deptford after his plans there were foiled by Evie Frye.

Equipment and skills
Jack was a highly skilled Assassin, having been well trained by his mentor, Jacob Frye, while still in boyhood. He possessed a vast set of skills, including armed and unarmed combat, stealth, public assassination techniques, proficiency in firearms and freerunning. By the time of the Whitechapel murders, he was capable of holding his own against and even overpowering the Frye twins, being well-nigh impervious to frontal attacks in the heat of battle. He was also possessed of an indomitable will, never giving up on the task at hand and approaching situations with utmost focus and care.

His repertoire also consisted of equipment and skills typically exclusive to the Assassins, such as the Hidden Blade, throwing knives, hallucinogenic darts, smoke bombs, the Victorian era rope launcher, and the rare sixth sense Eagle Vision. He could use his Eagle Vision to track down recently lost individuals or identify key targets.

Most notable of Jack's skills was his extremist use of the Indian Brotherhood's fear tactics. Rather than discretely dealing with targets, he would use excess brutality in public assassinations to instill fear in the hearts of London's populace. In combat, he would use fear bombs and jarring, psychotic screams to frighten and disrupt the composure of his opponents.

As an extension of his prowess for fear and intimidation, Jack also had a penchant for manipulation. Due to his collusion with Olwyn Owers, Jack's eyes and ears within London, his manipulations and influence spread rapidly across the city. His operations gradually began to reach well beyond the scope of prostitution, to kidnapping, extortion, and murder of the London elite.

Trivia
*Jack the Ripper is the first historical figure in the whole of the Assassin's Creed series to be a playable character in one of the main titles.
*As seen in game and in promotional images, Jack the Ripper is seen wearing what looks to be a burlap sack on his head. The main reason for this is because, from when the murders happened all the way to modern times, Jack the Ripper's face and identity are unknown, with tests and research still coming out inconclusive to this day.
*Jack's backstory in the game is entirely fabricated. This is again to do with the fact that there isn't any information on Jack the Ripper's history aside from when the murders began and ended, as well as the Ripper Letters.

The Abstergo Entertainment research analyst, known amongst their fellow researchers as "Noob" due to their recent arrival, is a former employee of Abstergo Entertainment that was assigned to the Sample 17 Project. They were tasked with reliving the memories of the pirate Edward Kenway, in order to gain footage for a product that would feature him.

Biography
On their first day of work, the employee started a diary detailing their experience at the company. Not long after their induction, the employee was enlisted by IT head John Standish to hack computers, Animi, security cameras, and servers around Abstergo Entertainment's Montreal facility in order to obtain information on Abstergo's actions for the Assassins, though the employee was not originally aware of this.

The employee was also charged with passing on this information to Rebecca Crane and Shaun Hastings, who routinely collected it at Shaun's coffee stand in the building's lobby. While the employee first believed these activities to be innocuous, they soon became suspicious of John, regarding him as mentally ill.

Eventually, the hacking activity was discovered at the same time that the company's Chief Creative Officer, Olivier Garneau, went missing. In response, Olivier's stand-in, Melanie Lemay, reluctantly imprisoned the analyst and several other employees in bunkers in the basement, where they would continue their work until the hacker could be identified.

Subsequently, John raised the employee's security clearance so that they could leave their bunker, and instructed them to hack the main server in order to cover their tracks. Unbeknownst to the employee, following John's instructions activated a program designed to transfer Juno's consciousness into another body; unfortunately for John, Juno was not yet strong enough to maintain a physical form, and this aspect of the plan failed.

John then entered the employee's bunker while they were using the Animus and revealed himself to be a Sage, a reincarnation of Aita. He attempted to poison the employee, weakening them enough that their body could host Juno. However, he was shortly caught and killed by Abstergo's security guards.

The employee later woke in Melanie's office, where she apologized for imprisoning them. She claimed that while she originally believed them to be the hacker, information recovered from John's computer proved that he was responsible. After Melanie revealed the completed trailer for Devils of the Caribbean as a token of good will, the analyst was allowed to return to work.

While the analyst headed back to their Animus, Shaun and Rebecca contacted them, apologized for getting them into such a mess with John, and offered to recompense the employee if they continued to obtain information on Abstergo Entertainment. The analyst considered their offer, given that having level three security clearance made it unlikely they would be discovered again.

By November 2014, the analyst had left Abstergo Entertainment. On 2 November 2014, Melanie Lemay lamented to Álvaro Gramática the analyst's departure, as they would have been skilled enough to explore Arno Dorian's genetic memories. Since the analyst's departure, Abstergo had trouble finding researchers who were able to handle the memories of individuals with a high count of First Civilization DNA.

Trivia
*As stated by developers, the research analyst is meant to be the embodiment of the player themselves in the Assassin's Creed universe, and thus their identity is left ambiguous.
*The analyst's work station was later taken over by the Helix research analyst in Assassin's Creed: Rogue after leaving Abstergo Entertainment.
"Jack the Ripper" (Unknown – 1888), known as Little Jack during his youth, was an unidentified serial killer and member of the British Brotherhood of Assassins who was active in the Whitechapel district of London in 1888. Infamously known for his gruesome murders of young women, in fact fellow Assassins trying to stop his madness, his actions threatened the very existence of the Assassins in London.

Biography
During his youth the Assassin mother of Jack was butchered by the Templars of Crawford Starrick and the traumatized Jack was placed into the Lambeth Asylum, where the ill treatements aggravated his mental instability. After the death of Starrick in 1868, Jack was freed of the Asylum by Jacob Frye and became one of his new apprentice.

In 1870, he traveled with other British initiates to India, in order to learn the Fear skills of the Indian Brotherhood, which Jacob's sister, Evie Frye, had joined.

As an Assassin, Jack developed an extremist view on the Assassins' mission and became completely mad, taking control of the Rooks and recruiting disciples to follow his new Creed of Terror.

Skills
As far his skills go, one can easily deduce that his skills are on par, if not superior to the likes of the Assassins, as he is able to defeat, experienced brawler and master Assassin, Jacob Frye in hand-to-hand combat. He has also shown an indomitable willpower as he never gives up on the tasks at hand. His body is also conditioned for superior physical performance, similarly to the Assassins. He is also a master manipulator, being able to manipulate the entire town of London as well as the Assassins. These extraordinary capabilities, combined with his physical conditioning & cunning intelligence makes him an extreme threat.

Trivia
*As displayed in promotional images, Jack the Ripper's face is hidden behind a mask crafted from what resembles a burlap sack. This is presumably due to his current-day anonymity, with extensive research into his identity still proving inconclusive.
*When playing as him Jack is able to kill random civilians, however doing so too much will still cause desynchronization, with the animus stating "Jack did not compromise his plans by killing random civilians".
*When playing as Jack, you will receive messages in a readable but scruffy form of handwriting on your screen around Jack's body, highlighting Jack's thoughts; this emphasises his loss of sanity.
*Jack the Ripper is the first historical figure in the whole of the Assassin's Creed series to be a playable character in one of the main titles.
