The [[Ships|ship]] was a gift from [[Grand Master]] [[Laureano de Torres y Ayala]], to help further the Order's goals in the [[Caribbean|West Indies]].

That same year, [[Edward Thatch]] and [[Edward Kenway]] planned to commandeer the galleon and station it just beyond Nassau's northern harbor, to improve the community's defenses. Kenway's ''[[Jackdaw]]'' tailed the vessel through a storm, during which the Man O' War repelled an assault from [[Charles Vane]]'s ''Ranger''.

''El Arca del Maestro'' subsequently docked at a cove on the island of [[Great Inagua]]. Looping around the island, Kenway made his way through the jungle and assassinated du Casse aboard the galleon. Afterward, Edward claimed the cove as his own, while Thatch took the ship's cannons and beached the ship itself at [[Abaco Island]].

==Trivia==
*Unlike most Spanish galleons, ''El Arca del Maestro'' was painted in a similar fashion to the legendary ship ''[[El Impoluto]]'', rather than the reddish-brown colour that was more commonly used for Men O' War.
*It is not possible to sink or disable the ''El Arca de Maestro'' during the memory [[Proper Defenses]] but it can be damaged nearly to the brink of being sunk or disabled. Even so, it will be in a proper state when Edward Kenway assassinates Julien du Casse.
*The middle mast of the ''El Arca del Maestro'' when it was beached on Abaco Island would have been the tallest viewpoint in the game but it is unreachable.

De Ferrer was born in Gipuzkoa, Spain, during the 1730s and sent to [[Cuba]] at an early age.<ref name="AC3L">''[[Assassin's Creed III: Liberation]]''</ref> Although loyal to the Templar Order, his family owed a debt to [[Grand Master]] [[Reginald Birch]], which led de Ferrer to travel to [[Havana]] in 1750, in search of an artifact called the [[Precursor boxes|Precursor box]]. Staying in the city for a time, he realized that, following the death of [[Laureano de Torres y Ayala]], the [[Assassins]] wielded too much power in the region for a Templar Rite to be established.<ref name="ACRG">''[[Assassin's Creed: Rogue]]'' - [[War letters]]</ref>

By 1765, de Ferrer had traveled to New Orleans, trying to find more ways of getting workers to Mexico, as well as take control of the city. He subsequently negotiated a deal with the [[France|French]] Governor of Louisiana, [[Jean-Jacques Blaise d'Abbadie]]. D'Abbadie was to remain in power as governor, provided he oversaw the handover of the colony to the Templars and supplied de Ferrer with more workers for the excavation site at Chichen Itza. To discuss the specifics of their arrangement, they arranged to meet at a party held at d'Abbadie's [[Governor's Mansion (New Orleans)|mansion]].<ref name="AC3L"/>

Unbeknownst to the pair, their meeting was [[Eavesdropping|eavesdropped]] upon by the [[Assassins|Assassin]] [[Aveline de Grandpré]], who had found out about de Ferrer's presence in New Orleans through [[Carlos Dominguez]], a captain de Ferrer employed to transport goods to and from New Orleans. Following de Ferrer's depature, d'Abbadie was assassinated by Aveline to prevent the colony from being transferred to Templar control, sabotaging de Ferrer's plans.<ref name="AC3L"/>

A year later, de Ferrer secured the alliance of an ex-Assassin named [[Baptiste]], who had aspirations to defect to the Templar Order. Baptiste, using the name of his deceased [[Mentor]] [[François Mackandal]] to gather [[Baptiste's followers|followers]], attempted to take control of smuggling operations within the [[Louisiana Bayou]] and poison the nobles of New Orleans. His underlying goal was to force the Mentor of the area's Assassins, [[Agaté]], out of hiding so that he could be delivered to de Ferrer, which would earn Baptiste a position among the Order. De Ferrer subsequently decided to return to Chichen Itza to reassume his position of leadership at the camp, which he had previously handed to an overseer. In the next two years, [[Antonio de Ulloa]], de Ferrer's Templar ally and the first Spanish governor of Louisiana, would continue de Ferrer's previous efforts in New Orleans, kidnapping slaves and vagrants that were to be sent to the work site in Mexico. However, De Ulloa would eventually be tracked down by Aveline as well, leading the governor to abandon the Templar cause and flee Louisiana.<ref name="AC3L"/>

In 1769, de Ferrer was still leading the work site, trying to find the fabled Prophecy Disk, as well as dealing with the rising dissatisfaction among the workers. Meeting with the camp's overseer, de Ferrer suggested possible ways to appease the slaves, while, Aveline, who had found her way to Chichen Itza, listened in. Shortly thereafter, the two Templars went to deal with a runaway slave they had apprehended, though de Ferrer left the punishment itself to the overseer.<ref name="AC3L"/>

De Ferrer later found out about the overseer's death at the hands of Aveline and managed to track her down to First Civilization ruins, where she had acquired a piece of the Prophecy Disk he had been looking for. Using some explosives, he blasted an opening into the chamber and confronted her, claiming their goals were not as different as they might appear to be. He and his [[guards]] then attacked the Assassin, but they proved to be no match. De Ferrer was eventually blindsided by Aveline and stabbed in the chest, before being pushed over a cliff edge, into the cavern's depths.<ref name="AC3L"/>

Although he presented an amiable façade and spoke with an even tone, de Ferrer was, in truth, a cruel man that would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. Ruthless in nature, he was shown to value the lives of others extremely little, as exemplified by him being willing to poison the nobles of New Orleans so the Templars could more easily take control of the city.<ref name="AC3L"/>

His treatment of the Chichen Itza workers was equally harsh, with de Ferrer preferring to use severe punishments to keep them under his thumb, even considering poison at one point. Despite this, he was skilled at manipulation, much like his superior, capable of bending the truth in such a way that the slaves genuinely believed they would eventually earn back the land. As such, de Ferrer's public persona skillfully hid his more sadistic tendencies.<ref name="AC3L"/>

As his father was last in the Ottoman hierarchy, Suleiman fostered no intentions of becoming Sultan, and instead threw himself into study. He was educated at the University in Istanbul, as well as received private tutoring in [[Topkapı Palace]]. At this time, he also had a servant named Ibrahim that he considered to be his best friend.<ref name="Revelations">''[[Assassin's Creed: Revelations]]''</ref>

By the time he was 17, Suleiman's grandfather, Sultan [[Bayezid II]], recognized his great talent, and installed him as the governor of {{Wiki|Feodosiya#Caffa|Kefe}}, a sizable region north of the Black Sea. He would continue to receive several similar positions until 1520.<ref name="Revelations" />

In 1511, while returning to [[Constantinople]] from his {{Wiki|Hajj}}, Suleiman met Ezio Auditore, the leader of the [[Italian Assassins]]. Neither of them disclosed their identities to each other at the time, with Suleiman convincing Ezio that he was merely a student, and Ezio simply saying he was searching for inspiration.<ref name="Revelations" />

As the ship arrived in [[Galata District|Galata]], and its passengers disembarked, a young lady named [[Sofia Sartor]] dropped her packages. Suleiman politely came to her aid, and helped her carry her belongings, bidding the Assassin farewell as he left.<ref name="Revelations" />

Suleiman became the target of a supposed [[attack on Prince Suleiman|assassination attempt]] from the [[Byzantine Empire|Byzantines]] during a cultural exposition he had organized at Topkapı Palace. Fortunately, the [[Turkish Assassins]] had infiltrated the party disguised as [[Italy|Italian]] [[Civilians#Minstrels|minstrels]], and were quietly dispatching the would-be killers.<ref name="Revelations" />

However, a guard noticed a body that an Assassin had failed to hide, and a battle broke out. Ezio ended the fight by killing the final Templar that had been about to attack Suleiman in the midst of the confusion.<ref name="Revelations" />

Ezio and Suleiman then greeted each other cordially, and introduced themselves by name. After Suleiman ordered the guards to remove the bodies and send the guests home, he requested Ezio's help.<ref name="Revelations" />

The next morning, Ezio returned and Suleiman requested him to spy on a meeting he had arranged between his uncle, ''Shehzade'' [[Ahmet]], and [[Tarik Barleti]], captain of the [[Janissaries]].<ref name="Revelations" />

Suleiman explained that his grandfather wanted Ahmet to succeed him on the throne, but the Janissaries, the Sultan's elite soldiers, preferred Suleiman's father Selim.<ref name="Revelations" />

During the meeting, Tarik assured Suleiman that he would investigate the infiltration, but Suleiman impatiently said that he would do it himself, "for reasons that should be obvious." Ahmet also accused Tarik of planning the attack to make him appear to be a weak and ineffective steward, though Tarik blatantly denied the claims.<ref name="Revelations" />

Due to his suspicions of Tarik's failure to prevent the Byzantine infiltration, Suleiman proceeded with his investigation, and directed Ezio to the [[Grand Bazaar]], where Tarik spent most of his time.<ref name="Revelations" />

After discovering that Tarik was supplying weapons to the Byzantine heir [[Manuel Palaiologos]], Ezio returned to Suleiman, who had been playing chess with Ahmet in the [[Constantine District]]. Suleiman directed Ezio to the Janissary camp, and requested that he interrogate and kill Tarik, as punishment for his treachery, despite Tarik's past friendship with Suleiman's father.<ref name="Revelations" />

However, after the assassination, Ezio returned to Topkapı Palace and revealed to Suleiman that Tarik had been innocent. With his dying words, Tarik had revealed that he had merely been posing as a traitor in order to ambush the Byzantines at [[Derinkuyu|Cappadocia]]. Suleiman grieved the loss, and lamented that he should not have been so quick to judge.<ref name="Revelations" />

After their exchange, Suleiman promised to arrange a ship to transport Ezio to the Byzantine base in Cappadocia. Ahmet appeared shortly afterwards, distressed that the Janissaries had pinned Tarik's murder on him, and convinced that his father would banish him as a result.<ref name="Revelations" />

Ahmet soon spotted Ezio, and apologized for interrupting their meeting. Realizing the danger of revealing Ezio's identity, Suleiman instead introduced the Assassin as "Marcello", a European advisor from Kefe.<ref name="Revelations" />

After Ahmet requested for "Marcello" to leave, Suleiman calmed his uncle, assuring him that they would find the true killer.<ref name="Revelations" />

===Betrayal===
When Ezio returned, he had learned that Ahmet was the Templar [[Grand Master]], and had kidnapped his friend Sofia Sartor. After the Assassins stormed the [[Harbor of Theodosius|Arsenal]] where Ahmet was hiding, Suleiman arrived and overheard his uncle's confrontation with Ezio.<ref name="Revelations"/>

Ahmet declared his desire for a [[New World Order]], by finding the [[Grand Temple]] and destroying the "superstitions that keep men divided." Later on, he would also admit to being behind the assault in Topkapı Palace, though he had not intended for Suleiman to be killed, merely captured, for him to be "rescued" by Ahmet afterwards.<ref name="Revelations" />

As Ahmet left, Suleiman came out of hiding to speak to Ezio. He admitted his uncle's sincerity, but found his fantasies to be dangerous. He also disagreed with the concept of removing the differences between men, saying that they should be celebrated instead of suppressed.<ref name="Revelations" />

The Janissaries arrived to restore order, and moved to attack Ezio to protect Suleiman, though Suleiman quickly ordered them to stand down. Continuing, Suleiman requested Ezio to spare his uncle after rescuing Sofia, though he admitted that his father would not do the same in his position.<ref name="Revelations"/>

Indeed, some time later, when the new Sultan Selim returned with his army, he killed Ahmet. Though Selim threatened to have Ezio killed as well, at Suleiman's recommendation, the Assassin was merely banished from the city.<ref name="Revelations"/>

Later, when Ezio returned to Constantinople to tie up loose ends at the Assassins Guild, Suleiman prevented his father from harming him, and promised that Ezio's time in the city would be brief.<ref name="Revelations novel">''[[Assassin's Creed: Revelations (novel)]]''</ref>

In 1520, a tragedy robbed Suleiman's father of the Sultanate, and Suleiman - who was 26 at the time - succeeded him. His reforms greatly improved the Empire's bureaucratic system, which would later be described as a "well-oiled engine," despite its significant size.<ref name="Revelations"/>

During his rule, Suleiman expanded his Empire to its furthest points, stretching it from Algeria to the Persian Gulf, and from Austria down to Egypt. Respecting the diversity of those under his authority, he was always careful to honor their cultures, traditions, and religions. In later years, Suleiman led the Ottomans in conflict with the [[Knights Hospitalier]], whom the Assassins had fought due to a death [[Castor|a fellow Master Assassin]] at the hands of the knights. Suleiman succesfully drove them out from Rhodes, their headquarters and force them to relocate at Malta. Suleiman, however, could not defeat the order as the Ottoman assault on Malta was repulsed by the Hospitaliers. Suleiman then no longer made any attempt to wipe out the order and he died while on a military expedition on Szigetvár while conquering the Kingdom of Hungary.<ref name="Revelations"/>

Suleiman was a kind, polite, and thoughtful man, from his youth until old age. Ezio once described him as a "remarkable boy with a magnificent mind," and he was regarded highly by many of his countrymen.<ref name="Revelations"/>

Despite his uncle being favored over his father for the Sultanate, Suleiman maintained close ties with Ahmet. Indeed, he saw no problem with the decision, and once commented to his uncle that ''"Grandfather has chosen you, and his word is'' kanun ''(law). What is there to argue about?"''<ref name="Revelations"/>

Initially, Suleiman dealt harshly with treason, and asked Ezio to kill Tarik for the blatant disrespect for Sultan Bayezid II. However, upon later discovering Tarik's innocence, he grew more tolerant, and even asked Ezio to spare Ahmet's life if he was able, despite knowing his ill intentions.<ref name="Revelations"/>

Ever a scholar, Suleiman spent much of his time in study or travel, and once even held a large cultural exposition in Topkapı Palace, in which he invited foreign minstrels to perform. His appreciation and respect for other cultures extended into his rule as Sultan, and was attributed to be the reason he could maintain such a large Empire.<ref name="Revelations"/>

*Suleiman is a derivation of the name Solomon, itself from Hebrew שָׁלוֹם (''shalom''), meaning "peace."
*Coincidentally, Suleiman bore the same epithet as [[Lorenzo de' Medici]]: the Magnificent. Additionally, both were powerful allies to the Assassins and were protected by Ezio from Templars seeking to take over their holdings.
*Suleiman met the Assassins through Ezio at the age of 17, the same age when Ezio discovered his lineage and the Brotherhood through his uncle Mario after the execution of his father and two brothers.
