Aita was a member of the First Civilization and the husband of Juno. One of the civilization's brightest minds, Aita created the Observatory on the island that would later be known as Jamaica, and functioned as the overseer of the Pieces of Eden. Following his death, Juno worked to bring him back to life, and succeeded in reincarnating him several times over the millennia.

Biography
After the outbreak of the human rebellion in 75010 BCE, Aita helped Juno, Minerva, and Jupiter sort through the solutions given to them at the Grand Temple, in order to prevent the First Disaster, which he was able to do until the fifth solution was tested.

After their first three attempts at preventing the First Disaster failed, Juno and the others sought to save their race by means of smaller proportions. The fifth solution was to change their physical bodies by transferring their minds to other vessels, using mechanical and human bodies as test subjects. Pleading with her husband to help her, Juno managed to persuade him to volunteer for the experiment.

After his mind was transferred into a machine and through to a human body, Aita's mind swiftly deteriorated; while his body would survive, his mind became brittle and catatonic. With enough will, he asked his wife to end his suffering, though she would spend the next months finding ways to help him. She eventually devised a plan to add samples of Aita's genetic code into the human DNA that would eventually result in the births of children with Aita's genetic code. After revealing her intentions to him, she complied with his wish and stabbed him in the heart.

Throughout the next millennia, Aita was reincarnated in the bodies of various humans - known as Sages - such as Thom Kavanagh, Bartholomew Roberts, and John, giving them his appearance and memories. Kavanagh wasn't able to make sense of the dual memories until he arrived at the Observatory years after he began experiencing them. It is unknown if Roberts or John experienced similar confusion, or if John had been to the Observatory at all.

Trivia
*In Etruscan mythology, Aita was the name for the underworld, as well as the corresponding anthropomorphized deity, borrowed from the Greek Hades and Roman Pluto (mythology). In this regard, Etruscans depicted Aita as a bearded male wearing a wolfskin cap.

The Jackdaw was a brig captained by the pirate, and later Assassin, Edward Kenway, which he obtained with the help of Adéwalé, during his time in the West Indies.

Before Kenway's captaincy, the ship was a part of a Spanish Treasure Fleet, and named El Dorado. Upon securing it, Kenway renamed the vessel Jackdaw, after the bird of the same name.

Procurement
After an imprisoned Edward Kenway was placed on a ship in the fleet bound for Spain, he met his future quartermaster, Adéwalé, who helped free Edward from their leg irons, and assisted him in incapacitating the guards until the pirate retrieved his equipment.

Following this, the pair secured a crew by freeing other prisoners from their Spanish captors, before they set their sights on a brig in the fleet, El Dorado, and made their way to relinquish it. Subsequently, Kenway used the pirates he freed to help sail the ship from the fleet under the cover of a severe storm, successfully escaping the natural disaster while the remaining ships were sunk. Kenway then renamed the ship the Jackdaw, after a small, swift bird from his home of Wales.

Piracy
The Jackdaws first major act of piracy took place off of the coast of Nassau in 1715, when Captain Benjamin Hornigold showed Kenway how to succesfully take a ship. Soon after, it was used to transport Kenway to Cat Island to plunder a plantation, and eventually followed a Spanish Man O' War, the El Arca Del Maestro, through the Bahamas to its moorings at the Great Inagua. Kenway infiltrated the island, killed the French Templar Julien du Casse, and took both the ship and the island. It was here that he would establish his own base of operations, and the Jackdaw could often be found moored at the docks in the cove.

The Jackdaw traveled across the West Indies Sea to the ancient city of Tulum, home of the Assassins, where the crew members were soon taken prisoner by Laurens Prins. Kenway freed his crew and they returned to sea. Soon after, the ship took its first fort, located at Punta Guarico, and made sail for Kingston.

Schematics
The Jackdaw was 60 meters long, 48.5 meters high, had a width of 11.9 meters, and had twenty-six sails. Accompanying this, the Jackdaw was armed with forty-six Broadside, four Cannons and two swivel guns. Accompanying this, she could hold a sizable number of fire barrels, heated shot and mortar rounds, and was equipped with a iron plated naval ram.

At her strongest, the Jackdaw possessed a sizable amount of iron-plating reinforcement across her hull, which provided ample protection in combat against a number of Men O' War. The brig was able to disable and destroy any type of ship, given the proper strategy in battle.

She was also equipped with a diving bell for exploration of various underwater wrecks, as well as a whaling rowboat and harpoons, which allowed Edward to hunt for local sea life. Like most ships of the time and area, her masts featured pedal-activated lifts and hooks to allow both ascent and descent. The Jackdaw also had cleverly-placed swinging ropes secured both on deck and in the cross-masts that were used by the crew to swing from one ship to another.

Notable conflicts
While the Jackdaw did not participate in any major historical battles of the era, she still had more than her fair share of legendary combat. Notable skirmishes, such as the battle which took Blackbeard's life near Ocracoke, and the later conflict off the coast of Príncipe – in which Bartholomew Roberts was killed – were fought on the Jackdaws decks. The ship also single-handedly outgunned and destroyed all of the naval forts around the Caribbean at one time or another.

The Jackdaw also took many ships, from gunboats to Men O' War, including the five legendary ships that roamed the Caribbean Sea: El Impoluto, the twin ships HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign, La Dama Negra, and HMS Prince.

Crew
*Edward Kenway
*Adéwalé (until 1721-22)
*Anne Bonny (from 1721-22 onward)
*Numerous unnamed pirates

Trivia
*Like many other references to the Assassin Order involving avians, a Western Jackdaw is a small, black bird belonging to the crow family. Coincidentally, the color of the bird's feathers themselves could also be a reference to piracy often being symbolized by black.
*Darby McDevitt mentioned the Jackdaws name was also a reference to the fable of the Eagle and the Jackdaw; the fable is recited during the memory, "Delirium".
*The former name of the ship, El Dorado, is Spanish for "the gilded one; the golden".
*In the captain's cabin, there is a statue of an eagle near the Jackdaws rear window. There is also a bust of an unknown man in the right corner. Other cabin decorations include several flags, lanterns, a desk, and some chairs.
*Mary Read, in discussion with Edward Kenway about the Observatory, once remarked that "it's an old legend. Like El Dorado or the Fountain of Youth." This may have been a foreshadowing of the mythical status that the Jackdaw, previously known as El Dorado, would soon gain under Kenway's captaincy.

The Jackdaws first major act of piracy took place off of the coast of Nassau in 1715, when Captain Benjamin Hornigold showed Kenway how to succesfully take a ship. Soon after, it was used to transport Kenway to Cat Island to plunder a plantation, and eventually followed a Spanish Man O' War, the El Arca Del Maestro through the Bahamas to its moorings at the Great Inagua.

Stede Bonnet (c. 1688 – 10 December 1718) was an early 18th century Barbadian pirate of English descent who sailed the Eastern Seaboard of the Thirteen Colonies with his crew. Despite his infamy however, he was often nicknamed "The Gentleman Pirate".

Stede Bonnet met Edward Kenway on Cape Bonavista, shortly after the latter had killed and assumed the identity of Duncan Walpole, an Assassin who planned to sell a blood vial to the Templars. Shortly beforehand, Bonnet was being harassed by several British soldiers who mistook him for a pirate and intended to commandeer his vessel, following a sea battle between Edward's and Duncan's ships.

After Edward saved Bonnet, he offered to take Kenway with him to Havana, after the latter had introduced himself under Walpole's name. On arriving in Havana, Stede and Edward headed into the city, eventually ending up in a tavern. Here, Edward was recognized by a privateer, who knew about Kenway's true name, following which the two engaged in a fight after Edward's attempt to silence him.

After the fight, Bonnet was mistaken for Kenway's accomplice and severely beaten by the Spanish guards, having his sugar confiscated as a result. Once Kenway had returned from avoiding the soldiers, he found a battered Bonnet by the docks, who told the former that the soldiers had confiscated Edward's pouch, as well as his sugar. Edward then agreed to retrieve Bonnet's sugar at the same time as his pouch, but could not fulfil on his promise. Fortunately however, Stede was still able to make a profit with his remaining inventory, and Kenway then confessed his real first name to Bonnet.

Later on, Bonnet spotted Kenway with the Templars and excitedly called him by his real name, nearly blowing his cover, to which Kenway was quickly able to talk his way out of trouble. Kenway later met with Bonnet and complained about the small pay he received from the job; Bonnet, on the other hand, was really trying to inform Kenway of his great sales from the day.

Bonnet went on to sail under Edward Thatch for a time, until he reacquired his own ship, renaming it the Revenge. He and his crew foolishly selected a massive Man O' War as their first target, and most of the crew was lost. Bonnet survived, but was soon captured by British soldiers and hung for his piracy. Eyewitnesses report being moved to tears by his remorse in the last moments before the execution.

However, Bonnet left clues of his adventures for Edward. Later on, Edward followed in Bonnet's footsteps on the island of Saint Lucia, and uncovered the secrets of the pirate's adventures.

Personality
Stede Bonnet was a jolly and gracious man, shown especially by his great respect for Edward Kenway, who saved his life, and his ability to see a silver lining to any situation. However, this came paired with naivety, as Bonnet clearly did not understand the potential dangers he could have faced while traveling with Edward, nor for the consequences of piracy, passing it off for grand adventures.

While under Thatch, Bonnet showed more courage than earlier, being toughened up by living with the incredibly terrifying Blackbeard. Of course, when Thatch was demonstrating to Edward what it meant to instill fear in men, Bonnet still cowered weakly when Thatch used him as an example.

Despite this, Stede left Blackbeard's crew in good spirits, even commenting to Kenway the great impact that the man had on his self-esteem and confidence, as his last words to Kenway involved him thanking him for his help.
After an imprisoned Edward Kenway was placed on a ship in the fleet bound for Spain, he met his future quartermaster, Adéwalé , who helped free Edward from their leg irons, and assisted him in incapacitating the guards until the pirate retrieved his equipment.

Following this, the pair secured a crew by freeing other prisoners from their Spanish captors, before they set their sights on a brig at the front of the fleet, El Dorado, and made their way to relinquish it.

Schematics
The Jackdaw was 60 meters long, 48.5 meters high, had a width of 11.9 meters, and had twenty-six sails. Accompanying this, the Jackdaw was armed with forty-six Broadside, four Cannons and two swivel guns.
At her strongest, the Jackdaw possessed a sizable amount of iron-plating reinforcement across her hull, which provided ample protection in combat against a number of Men O' War.

She was also equipped with a diving bell for exploration of various underwater wrecks, as well as a whaling rowboat and harpoons, which allowed Edward to hunt for local sea life.

*Mary Read, in discussion with Edward Kenway about the Observatory once remarked that "it's an old legend. Like El Dorardo, or the Fountain of Youth." A foreshadowing of the mythical status Jackdaw, previously known as El Dorado, would soon gain under Kenway's captaincy.
Bartholomew Roberts (17 May 1682 – 10 February 1722), born John Roberts, was a Welsh-born British pirate who raided ships in the Caribbean and on the West African coast between 1719 and 1722 under the name "Black Bart". He was also a Sage, a reincarnation of Aita, one of the members of the First Civilization.

Biography
Imprisonment by Templars
The Templar Order located Roberts sometime in 1715 and took him to Havana, where he was imprisoned in the estate of Laureano de Torres y Ayala. Torres, his fellow Templars Woodes Rogers and Julien du Casse, along with Edward Kenway, under the guise of the Assassin Duncan Walpole, met Roberts at the Havana docks before taking him to the prison.

During the transit, he managed to break free when the Templars were attacked by the Assassins sent by Ah Tabai, but was chased down by Kenway and taken to Torres' estate. He was moved later that same day, but escaped soon after and took to the sea.

Slaving in Kingston and Príncipe
In 1717, the Templars learned that Roberts had been recaptured by a Kingston-based slaver named Laurens Prins, who had indeed encountered Roberts, but had in fact employed him in the slaving business, allowing him to stay in his Kingston estate before planning to sell him out to the Templars.

When Edward Kenway killed Prins, Roberts escaped once more and commandeered Prins's ship, the Princess. It made regular trips between Kingston and the African nation of Príncipe, where Roberts eventually went into hiding after the ship was captured by Templars in late 1718.

Piracy
When Kenway found Roberts hiding in the African jungle in 1719, he struck a deal with the Sage to free his imprisoned crew in exchange for Roberts leading him to the First Civilization site known as the Observatory. Kenway killed the Templars in Príncipe, freed the crew, and took the Man O' War HMS Royal Fortune. Roberts gave a speech to his crew declaring his intentions to sail as a pirate, and the two captains sailed back to the West Indies.

In the following months, Roberts made a name for himself, taking ships and making a fortune. He called himself "Black Bart" and kept his crew to high standards with an eleven-part creed; it discouraged gambling on the ship, required the men to keep their equipment in good working order, and provided that pirates should live their lives as fully as possible and die before they became weak and old, vulnerable to having their power stripped from them: a philosophy he summed up with the words "a merry life and a short one".

Roberts and Kenway met again off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, where they infiltrated a Portuguese camp to steal First Civilization Blood vials that had been imbued with the blood of both pirates and Templars alike. After completing the heist, Kenway killed Benjamin Hornigold to ensure the pirates were not followed before meeting Roberts again at Cape Long, on the northern shore of Jamaica. The two went ashore with four of Roberts's crew in search of the Observatory.

The Observatory
Edward cleared the jungle of the protective Caribbean Guardians while Roberts and his crew followed until they reached the Observatory's door. Upon opening it with an incantation, he suddenly shot his four crewmen dead, telling Kenway he did it to save them from the insanity that was sure to follow if they entered the building. With that, the two walked inside.

Roberts informed Kenway of his past as a Sage and his new life as a pirate, including his pirate's creed, as they made their way deeper and deeper into the Observatory. He even commented on it being in much worse condition than what it had been years ago when he had last seen it, although he still knew how to deactivate the building's security measures once inside.

In the Observatory's antechamber, Roberts showed Kenway exactly what its purpose was, using the Blood Vials they had taken from the Portuguese and inserting them into a Crystal Skull set into the centerpiece of a golden projection ring. The machine went into operation, projecting the vision of the individual whose blood was in the vial on a giant wall - a perfect method of spying on any individual in the world.

Although Kenway agreed with Roberts that the Observatory would be too powerful for the Templars to have control of, Roberts had a different plan on how to stop them - by removing the skull, rendering the Observatory inoperable. He then kicked Edward over a ledge and into the water below, heading back to the beach as Kenway found his own way out, becoming gravely wounded just before he passed out at Robert's feet. The former Sage commented that it would be more profitable to give Kenway up to the British, than to kill him. He made the sale and disappeared.

Last words
*Bartholomew: A merry life and a short one, as promised. How well I know myself. And what of you, Edward? Have you found the peace you seek?
*Edward: I'm not aiming so high as that. For what's peace but a confusion between two wars?
*Bartholomew: You're a stoic then! Perhaps I was wrong about you. She might have had some use for you after all.
*Edward: She? Of whom do you speak?
*Bartholomew Oh... she who lies in wait. Entombed. I had hoped to find her, to see her again. To open the door of the Temple and hear her speak my name once more. Aita...
*Edward: Talk sense, man.
*Bartholomew: I was born too soon, like so many others before.
*Edward: Where's the device, Roberts?
*Bartholomew Destroy this body, Edward. The Templars... if they take me...
