stub
Morale is a hidden mechanic present in Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood that determines when enemies will run in combat. Note that the values given below only apply once you enter open combat - assassinating two Brutes will not cause an Agile to run at the initiation of combat, since Morale only applies once enemies become hostile to you.

Morale in Assassin's Creed II
Morale in Assassin's Creed II is handled on a specialty-basis, to wit:

*Archers have 30 Morale points
*Agiles have 40
*Seekers have 80

The Prima guide lists Brutes as having 1000 Morale points, though that may be only a way of stating that Brutes never flee unless disarmed.
All Guards without specialties have 20 Morale points, regardless of whether they're basic guards or Captains.

Morale for each guard in combat decreases by 5 whenever an Archer, Agile or basic guard is killed, as well as when a Counter Kill, Disarm, or ground-assassination is performed. Disarming an opponent and killing them with their own weapon decreases Morale by 10, Seeker death and pistol-assassination knock off 20 points apiece, and a Brute's death is worth 30 points of lost morale. Conversely, each time Ezio is hit (regardless of the damage he takes), all guards gain 10 Morale, with an extra 25 if he enters Critical State. Lastly, evading guards (so that the edge of your mini-map goes from red to yellow) adds 20 points to the Morale of all guards. There are exceptions to the above system, however. An enemy who is disarmed will, under most circumstances, run immediately. This can be treated as a -∞ Morale penalty for being empty-handed. Along with disarming, in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, If a Brute/Heavy Weapon(Requiring the heavy weapon sheathe) is thrown at an enemy, it can also be treated as a -∞ Morale penalty. Enemies will drop their weapons and surrender/flee when this happens. Aiming a pistol at an enemy greatly reduces their morale, if this skill is learned from the Villa training grounds.

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood the morale system applies exactly the same for the recurring guards, however new guards are introduced such as the Borgia captain and Papal guard who will never flee during a fight, however killing them will force weaker guards to flee.

Trivia
*Having the Dagger of Brutus equiped will make guards flee much quicker then they would normally.
Brothels are locations that appear in the Assassin's Creed series and are the homes of the courtesans. In Assassin's Creed II brothels are located in Florence, Venice and Monteriggioni and all of them appear to have a small rooftop gardens. The only purpose of these gardens seems to be to distinguish the brothels from other nearby buildings. In Rome of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, other than its central brothel, there are several small faction buildings that may be renovated into brothels.

La Rosa Colta ("The Plucked Rose") is a brothel located in the city of Florence and it's leader was Paola. It was founded in 1465 when Paola decided to help the women of the streets by giving them a home. It wasn't uncommon to see members of the signoria visiting, and sometimes even members of the Medici family were seen there. In Assassin's Creed II it is a glyph location and is where Ezio Auditore was taught the ways of the courtesans.
La Rosa della Virtu
La Rosa della Virtu ("The Rose of Virtue") is a brothel located in the city of Venice and its head courtesan was Teodora. The brothel was founded and run by former nuns and the Pope repeatedly tried to close the brothel, even though it continued to operate until a fire in the year 1516. In Assassin's Creed II, Ezio Auditore speaks with Teodora and the other courtesans about the planned assassination of Marco Barbarigo.
The Rosa in Fiore ("Blooming Rose") is the center of courtesan operations in Rome, first managed by Madonna Solari, then jointly by Maria Auditore and Claudia Auditore. The courtesans here are used to gather information on the Borgia forces in Rome.
Trivia
*The three main brothels all have "Rosa" (Rose) in their titles.
