to be honest, i think that this kid is another assassin. his wristband, his scar and the way he nodded his has kind of implied that its almost like he was looking after the world for ezio when he dies. as for the symbol, that may have just been the way that the knot was tied or something. what was important was ezio's reaction to him.
also, ezio could not have been poisoned, he has been having chest problems throughout the entire movie.
