Altaïr awakened in [[Rashid ad-Din Sinan|Al Mualim]]'s study in Masyaf, surprised that he was still alive. Al Mualim then explained that killing Altaïr would be a waste of time and potential, and offered the young [[Assassins|Assassin]] a chance to atone for his past transgressions, enabling him to regain his former status.

Altaïr returned to the fortress with his fellow [[Assassins]] after the retreat was sounded. There, [[Rauf]] informed him that [[Rashid ad-Din Sinan|Al Mualim]] had another task for them to perform, but he did not go into details. The two Assassins then headed to the watchtower adjacent to the main gate, where [[Robert de Sable]] had already arrived with his forces, demanding return of the [[Templars|Templar]] [[Apple of Eden 2|treasure]].

Altaïr made his way to the trap tower overlooking Robert's forces. With his sword, the Assassin hacked away the bar that kept the tower's cargo at bay, sending several heavy, wooden logs rolling down to cascade into the Templars, killing the bulk of Robert's troops. Following this, the Templars were driven from the village shortly after, and Altaïr was brought before Al Mualim.
