ive heard alot of speculation about ACIV being set in brazil ever since chaverot bertrand made the announcement several days ago. if you have played ACIII then you would know that assassins creed is no stranger to brazil as you played there for a powersource mission as desmond. this is a good setting to elaborate. brazil has a versatile environment and the neighboring mayan culture links in to the 2012 apocolypse and first civilisation. the real question is will it be during the wars of south american independance or the days of the spanish conquestadors. if connor returns he would be around 60 as the south american revolution was almost 40 years after the american one. while connor is a good character this is a major transition from him being in his twenties. will there be a new assassain? will the assassin be a slave as the ACIII ending left speculation? who will be the templar leader of this installment? all will be revealed.

in this setting the character you play as could be a veteran of the mexican war who fights for the union as an assassin. robert e lee could be a charles lee figure leading the confedaracy as templars while you fight in gettysburg alongside ulysses s grant. plus you could avenge abe lincoln by assassinating john wilkes booth who is probably a templar. the question is will it be exciting and unique enough to play?

i like your idea of a roman assassins creed. however i have thought of a more exciting period of time. during the reign of emperor tiberius (2nd emperor) there was a lot of turmoil and intrigue. he is believed to have poisoned his popular and promising nephew germanicus, jesus christ was crucified and the brutal general sejanus tried to take over. also maybe the game can run into the reign of the next emperor caligula (germanicus' son) he was the worst emperor of all leading a reign of tyranny and insanity. it was also mentioned in ACII that he was killed by the assassins!

at the begining of the 14th century the templar order was wiped out by the church in france with many going into hiding. some historians speculate that they fled to scotland.

in that setting you could explore the scottish highlands, take down templars and take part in the anglo-scottish war with robert the bruce.
