For the page that has the looks of all of the assassins for that game (Altair-Young Ezio-Brotherhood Ezio-Old Ezio-Connor), wouldn't it be better to use this: http://www.gameinformer.com/p/ac3.aspx for the picture of Connor instead of the current one, as if you flip it horizontally it'll be leaning more to the right and will look more natural. == The truth of Ezio Auditore's death. Let me know what you think. ==

The Truth: Ezio died of a heart attack, Ubisoft even confirmed it. The guy who sat down next to him was just a random guy, who reminded Ezio of his teenage years. (Always chasing after women.) The guy got up and left because he saw Ezio wasn't feeling well. There wasn't any poison involved, and the, "Templar insignia" on his wrist has nothing to do with it. Ezio knew he was on his way out, that's why he wrote his death letter before he left for Florence with his family. We all saw Ezio's decaying health condition throughout the movie (His coughing). It was at it's worst point when he arrived in Florence with his family (His wheezing). He also knew his passing was coming because when his wife said something about Ezio staying home, he said, "I am home." He was refering to his birthplace of Florence. When Ezio's heart attack hit him, it took him by suprise as you could see by his facial expressions. When Ezio looked at the man, Ezio looked suprised because the man reminded him of himself in his teenage years, like I said earlier. At that point, Ezio knew it was his time to go, but he looked over at his wife and daughter, and smiled because he realized his life had a purpose. He even tells that to Desmond at the end of AC:R inside Altair's library. He was a Prophet, delivering a message to Desmond. If you listen to Ezio's death letter, you will hear him talk about, "Liberty, Time & Love." All three, which he didn't understand when he was young and immature. He then says how he finally understood them in his later years. Ezio remembers this, along with looking at his family that he loves dearly, and is ready to go. He knows he served as a mentor, a lover, a father, and an inspiration to many, many people. Personally, I think Ezio goes down as THE best video game character of all time. Seeing him as a child, grow into a man and Master Assassin makes you develope a connection with him, something that is rare in the gaming world. But, it's nice to know he died peacefully as also one of the greatest Assassins in history. Nothing is true, everything is permitted. Requiescat in Pace, Ezio Auditore.
How can Desmond Miles be related to 3 different Assassins?
Altair Ibn-La'Ahad (1165-1257) was a Syrian Assassin during the Middle Ages, from 1191 until his death the mentor of the Assassins in the Levant. Raised to be an Assassin from birth, Altaïr obtained the rank of Master Assassin by his twenty-fourth year. However, following his failure to obtain the Apple from Robert de Sable in early 1191, and subsequently allowing the Templars to attack the city of Masyaf.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze (1459 – 1524) was a Florentine nobleman during the Renaissance and, unbeknownst to most historians and philosophers, the Mentor of the Italian branch of the Assassin Order, a title he held from 1503 to 1512.

A member of the House of Auditore, Ezio remained unaware of his Assassin heritage until the age of 17, when he witnessed the hanging of his father and two brothers, Federico and Petruccio. Forced to flee his birthplace with his remaining family members - his mother and sister - Ezio took refuge in the Tuscan town of Monteriggioni, at the Villa Auditore.

Born to a British father and Mohawk mother, Ratonhnhaké:ton was raised among his mother's tribe. He suffered severely during his childhood, largely from the tribe's encounters with European colonists; a conflict that reached its peak when his village was destroyed by a colonial force. This event prompted him to seek justice for his people and fight tyranny wherever he saw it. His endeavors eventually led to him joining the Assassin Order in 1770, as well as adopting the name "Connor" in order to more easily move through colonial circles.

Five years later, the American Revolutionary War erupted, and Connor found himself siding with the leaders of the American revolution, namely George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, partially due to his belief in the ideals that they represented.

Even with all of this information, nothing here tells us that there is a connection with these assassins, because Altair was born in Syria, then Ezio was born in Italy and lastly Connor was raised in America. Also many people think that Ezio and Altair are related, but Ubisoft said that there are in no way connect by family. Additionaly when I was doing research into this I found a geneaology of Subject 17 by Abstergo. From close analysis this is not published by Ubisoft it is a fake made by a random person. :This isn't the place to ask this question, and this question already has been asked so many times. The genealogy is from the Abstergo Files in Revelations. As for how Desmond is related to all of them while they are related, take a look at any family tree. Your grandmother from your mother's side isn't related to you grandfather from your father's side, and your great-great-great-great-grandmother from your mother's side isn't related to your great-great-great-great-grandfather from your father's side and on and on. Your own parents aren't even related to each other, only by marriage. As for how Desmond is American while Altaïr is Syrian, Ezio Italian and Connor half British; migration is the answer. People move to different places, and eventually all their bloodlines wound up in America. -- Master Sima Yi 19:37, May 29, 2012 (UTC)
?
I think it would be very historic if the assassins creed gaming industry , made an assassin that is in Ireland under the sovereignty, partition and the ruling of the united kingdom. if they made a game were u stand as a republican fighting for the Irish and the brotherhood . Take the 1900's up as far as 1940's were Ireland got independence. You could include the 1913 Lockout, 1916 rising (including the excecutions of the 7 leaders that lead the rising), The IRA and the War of Independence, The negotiations of the Treaty, The Civil war(which also brought on the excecutions of politicians, members of the IRA and the death of Irish free state army officers) and The Origins of Northeren Ireland. 109.78.5.7
About the whole past tense thing...
I know I'm a newcomer here, but I've edited on many other wikis. I have no illusions that my one post will effect a sweeping change, but I aim to stand my ground on this for as long as I edit here. If anyone 'fixes' my contributions to conform to their sillyness, I will personally change it back. I will not go as far as to edit contributions of others to suit my tastes, unless it is part of a page which I entirely revamp for more practical purposes.

I really cannot understand why everything - and I mean everything - is written in past tense. Look, I get it, this is a series about historical fiction. I imagine some people feel more immersed writing about the things like they actually happened. But please, I beg of you, limit the use of past tense to actually talking about events in the timeline.

Game features do not merit past tense. They are features of a video game, media that is immediately accessible to anyone who owns them. People currently playing the games are doing the things you are writing about. It is simply nonsensical and asinine to write about them like they happened some time in the past.

Individual portions of memories do not merit past tense. If I see a walkthrough on this wiki that says 'Ezio then jumped from the beam he was on to the beam ten feet up and twenty feet over' I will actually choke a virtual kitten.

The only way I will budge is if there is an actual document about contributions on this wiki that requires all contributions to be formatted in this manner. If that is the case, I will simply abstain from contributing to this wiki.

That's really all I have to say on the matter. Incrognito (talk) 02:11, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

: All the historical events that take place - effectively, everything experienced through the Animus - and all past events within the modern-day story are to be written in past tense, as per this policy. There's a discussion to this effect from last year here as well.

::Molotov hit it right on the head; as a policy, we make all articles be past tense. This has been our policy for a long time, and changing it would require a massive amount of rewriting, which is unreasonable for us to expect from our fanbase. Logistics aside, the Writing Tense policy article makes it clear that we are considering the most recent event or moments after it to be considered the present, so everything else, including the game development or playthroughs to have happened in the past. Encyclopedial past tense is simplest and most correct. Edit warring over this is not recommended. <font color="#000">DarkFeather</font> <font color="#FFF">Raven's Nest</font><font color="#F00">Raven's Hunt</font> 03:59, December 4, 2013 (UTC)
:::Incrognito, given that you now know why we write in the past tense I should point out that if you insist on being an irritant by continuing to change articles to the present tense, you will be banned from contributing, by someone. That said, since you have now been informed about our policy, I fully expect you will no longer be making contributions, as per your statement.

:::Further to this, I would like to point out that whilst you are correct in that the player is 'viewing' these memories (rw: missions) in a present day context, these memories are simply recordings of what happened historically. Ezio did jump from the beam; he's not still jumping from that beam now, (damnit, he'd be 557 years old), so we're not going to change it to the present tense.

:::EDIT: I have also just noticed that this post is your only edit. You seriously want to start your tenure on here by bitching about something you haven't even encountered yet? Now I'm confused. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 09:53, December 4, 2013 (UTC)
::::::Alright. Admittedly, it was very poor form to start off in this tone. I actually did not know where to find the exact policy that I read just now (I thought it was possibly just a tradition and not actual policy). And given the approach I began with, I understand fully why you responded in kind.
::::::I guess what set me off was reading something like this:
::::::"Ezio could renovate a faction building for 1,200 florins, after which the members of the faction he assigned it to could be found outside. They would then assist Ezio after having received a payment." To me, this is extremely irritating. It is describing in past tense a game mechanic which is an interface for performing the action that Ezio did in the historical context. That said, since there is already a discussion on this matter, I will direct further debate - if I find the need to - to that discussion.
::::::I didn't mean to create the impression that I do not appreciate the past tense as a rule. I just feel like...perhaps it would be best to organize the sections of the pages to differentiate between the actual game mechanic granularity and the historical actions taken by the game character. And yes, I haven't made any edits to this wiki as of yet. I tend to think this is because the existing pages are actually quite comprehensive and well-formed for the most part, which I whole-heartedly appreciate. Hopefully this first impression hasn't irreparably damaged my credibility. I've done quite a job embarassing myself. Thank you for not immediately ejecting me, I know you probably had to resist the temptation! Incrognito (talk) 19:51, December 5, 2013 (UTC)
You provide a solid argument for you view (which is more than others have done in the past), but as you said, it was your tone. That aside, the reason we treat such an example in the past tense is answered by the idea of synchronization; specifically, we work on the assumption that absolutely everything that can be done in the memory was, at some point, actually done by the ancestor.

Ezio did, historically, at some point, fund the renovation of a guild building blah, blah, blah. We know he did because, if the player elects not to, they will not obtain 100% synchronisation.

Saying "Ezio did this on that day..." is a lot easier than saying "Desmond Miles, while operating the Animus, engaged the virtual representation of his ancestor's genetic memory to renovate a guild building in order to increase his synchronisation level with the ancestor". --Jasca Ducato <small>(talk | contributions)</small> 20:36, December 5, 2013 (UTC)
