The Courtesans are one of the three factions of Assassin's Creed II helping the main character Ezio (the other two being the Thieves and the Mercenaries). Led by Paola, whose brothel is located in Florence, and by Sister Teodora, who is situated in Venice.

The courtesans can help Ezio by surrounding him which let him walk the streets unnoticed. They can also distract the guards by seducing them.

Facts
*They help Ezio learn how to blend in.
*They can help fight guards with daggers when Ezio is attacked, though they go down very easily.
*They can be used to distract guards.
*Guards walking by Ezio can take two of the four Courtesans he has hired without notice. Two courtesans is still enough to distract any number of guards as long they have been grouped to each other

Achievement
You can win an achievement/trophy, Red Light Addict, by spending 5000 florins on them. One group of courtesans costs 150 florins. Therefore, you need to hire at least 34 groups to get it.
}}Leonardo da Vinci (April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519) was an Italian polymath, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician and writer in the Renaissance. He is generally considered the most talented person who ever lived and in Assassin's Creed 2 he is Ezio Auditore de Firenze's best friend who helps him throughout the game.

Biography
Born as an adopted person to a middle-class poor family, he spent 5 years in the countryside before he moved to the small village of Vinci, Florence. Very little is known so far about his early life. By the age of 14, he took up painting and was rather successful in getting his paintings published throughout the world today. In 1472, he enrolled at Guild of St Luke, where he recieved a master degree in Medicine and Botany. After university, his father set up his workshop, where Leonardo would work. Many political figures and armies would often call for his help to design various items and buildings. His most famous painting is the Mona Lisa, which was taken with him when he retired to France in 1513. He died of Blood Gout in 1519.

He and Ezio meet for the first in the beginning of the game during one of Ezio's errands. Ezio carries a few of his paints for him back to Ezio's house and the two became friends quite fast after this. They don't see eachother again until after Ezio becomes notorious throughout Florence. Ezio showed him one of the codex pages to show how to fix the Hidden Blade, which he does. Leonardo is then questioned by guard and beat up by him until Ezio came and saved him using his new hidden blade. After this Leonardo and Ezio don't see eachother much unless you bring him codex pages to decrypt for you and to upgrade your hidden blade into the dual version. A few years later he meets up with Ezio who helps Leonardo get through the mountains safely from the attacking Templars. Leonardo is then taken to Venice and is escorted to his new home and given a tour of the city with Ezio. Leonardo stays at Venice for the remainder of the game and still does very little except for decrypting codex pages for you. He does not have another role for a while until Ezio asks to use his prototype flying machine to break into the doges palace in an attempt to save him. At first it only flys for a short time but than he gets an idea of making fires across Venice to lift the machine higher into the air. This works until it is shot down just as Ezio got into palace. A few years later he saw Ezio once more during the carnival season and built him the Hidden Gun and gave him a mask to wear while out in the city. This is the last of his important roles throughout the game except for decrypting codex pages for you, but after that you are unable to see him again in the game.
Trivia
thumb|left|250px|Leonardo Da Vinci - Genius Inventor
*All of Leonardo's modifications on previously existing assassin gear are designs created by Altaïr. Leonardo just follows the designs detailed in Altaïr's codex, which only he and Giovanni Auditore can decipher and translate.
*Leonardo, like some of the main characters, doesn't seem to experience any changes for the 23 years of the game he appears, from their first encounter to the decoding of the the Codex in the villa in 1499. (1476-1499).
*Unless it is a codex page important to the story, such as the design for two hidden blades, the cutscene is the same when Ezio visits Leonardo each time (even after Leonardo's move to Venice).
* Leonardo's last name isn't actually da Vinci, he was the bastard son of a courtesan, and Vinci being the town he was born in, he took on the name, Leonardo da Vinci

Notes
*Leonardo may not spawn if the game does not register if you have been to Leonardo's Workshop. Therefore you can not decipher the codex pages you have collected so far. If this happens you can wait until sequence 14 where he will spawn in the villa with Claudia and the Architect. The exception to this is that Leonardo is registered as a mission.

Glyphs are encrypted messages that can appear on different places in Assassins Creed and Assassins Creed 2, created by Subject 16. In the first game they appear shortly before Desmond falls asleep and near the end. You can also find them in the Animus 2.0. Just before Subject 16 died, he left messages in the original Animus to tell anybody who finds it an important secret. The only way somebody would find these is to solve the puzzles relevant to the information given. There are a total of 20 glyphs found in Italy. Each provides, whether through Subject 16 or the coded messages hidden in some files, snippets of backstory to the Templars and Pieces of Eden.
|-
!Truth File 19 - The Fourth Day
|It’s on the back of one of the rounded-top walls that stick out on the side-parts of Scuola Grande Di San Marco
|Solve the puzzle by choosing the paintings with a sun in them. I’m not sure if this has to be done in any specific order, if so it’s: Aztec Calendar, Easter Gate, Sistine Chapel Ceiling, Nazca Textile and Book of the Dead. Then find the part of the sun photo that has the most radiation and ID it
|-
!Truth File 20 - The Origin of the Species
|From the roof with a fire near it, it’s there when you look down to a wall on the side of San Giacomo Di Rialto
|Solve the puzzle by working from the inside out, and realizing that these layers are not connected: 2nd inner layer, 5th outer layer. Then ID the sun. Next you can line up the code wheel any way you want to complete the puzzle. Use the set of numbers that only has 3 lines in it. Add up each line and start counting the number of times you change the puzzle piece, start by going down first. In the final puzzle, move the cursor over the bones to change the skeleton from a ape into a human
|}

Notes
The puzzles are not necessarily in the same places here. For example, when we found the glyph at the Mercato Vecchio, we were on Truth File 17, (The Calvary), not Truth File 9, (Hat Trick). But this is helpful when trying to find locations.

Despite what order you find the glyphs in, the story behind it of Subject 16 and the puzzles will be shown in its correct order, so even if you found Glyph 20 first, the puzzle will relate to Glyph 1. If you, for example, then found Glyph 10, it will then relate to Glyph 2, and so on. Also if you are unsure as to where to find the Glyphs, go to the Animus menu page, then database, and finally locations. Specific location pictures have a Glyph symbol in the top left corner. It will tell you where you can find them (and the Assassin's Tombs) in each area.

List of Glyphs
This list of glyphs is in no particular order:

*Japanese Tori Gate
*Chinese Writing
