And as stated repeatedly, Subject 16 is dead, at least in the sense that his bodily functions have ceased. Several people have suggested, however, that since Erudito has apparently deigned to communicate through email via computer, Subject 16's digitized mind dwelling within the Animus may still turn out to be Erudito. I'm personally opposed to this view since time was taken to lay groundwork establishing Subject 16 as a separate individual with his own information and assistance to bring to the table, unique from what Erudito is offering. My theory—and, interestingly, one I have yet to see shared by anyone else after browsing several other sites—is that Erudito is none other than the newest Mentor, leader of the Assassins. Notice that as history progressed, each subsequent Mentor has had to become even more secretive than his predecessors and removed from those they led, until they were often believed by the masses to no longer exist. I believe that Erudito is the inheriting Mentor from the one who met with Daniel Cross in 2000 (see &quot;The Fall&quot; comic series), and while continuing with his necessary isolation, is attempting to be more involved where he feels some personal outreach can benefit.</div>
