Seekers are fairly uncommon enemies of medium strength and speed. They are slightly more heavily armored than a normal guard, though less than Brutes, and carry long weapons such as spears or halberds. Seekers, or at least guards with the same weaponry as seekers will return in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Combat
*Normal attacks: like the Brutes', Seekers' normal attacks can be blocked by any weapon, but can't be countered with any sheathable weapon or short blade. They can be countered (lethally) with heavy weapons, which are carried by Brutes, by long weapons, carried by the Seekers themselves, or by Ezio's Hidden Blade(s), although the timing for the latter is rather hard to get because of how short the timing window is (a fraction of a second) and how difficult it is to know when this window is during the Seeker's attack. You can also counter a Seeker's normal attacks with fists (although the timing window is short), which will disarm the Seeker and, followed up by a quick attack to the unarmed foe, will kill him. Dodging a Seeker's attacks is another option, and should be followed up with an offensive of your own. The maximum length of a Seeker's combo is three hits. Seeker's attacks do mediocre damage, on par with a Standard's.
*Special attack: Sweep: The Seeker's only special attack, the Sweep, sweeps Ezio's feet out from under him. This special does no damage and does not open Ezio to attacks, since no enemy can strike Ezio while he is on the ground. It may slow Ezio down further, should he be caught in a fight and need, for whatever reason, to get out of the fight and be on his way quickly. It may also cost him the chance to kill a freshly disarmed enemy and, in this sense, may be considered more of a defensive move than an offensive one. This attack may be dodged, but you have to be quick, because it takes the Seeker only a fraction of a second to prepare this special. A Seeker is about to perform a Sweep if he raises his weapon up and to his right at an approximately 45 degree angle. He swings it quickly, so be ready to dodge.
*Attacking: The best way to counter Seekers in a face-to-face battle is to use Hidden Blades. Another way is to grab their weapon and kill them as they are unarmed or use heavy Brute weapons. The most "expensive" ways to kill them is to use Throwing Knives, the Hidden Pistol or Smoke Bombs. Maybe, the most lethal and quick way to win a battle against them, is to kill them first, before battle begins.
*Seekers can be grabbed and killed with a sword
Characteristics
Seekers are extremely intelligent and are not fooled easily. In fact, even once you have gotten out of sight, hiding or blending is ill-advised unless out of the LKP (Last Known Position) circle, as Seekers have the ability to search hiding spots. Keep in mind, however, that their free-running skills are very limited, and they will not be able to follow you on rooftops, making rooftops a hiding place once you have broken his line of sight. Alternatively, you can simply free-run away from him as an excellent method of escape. (The exception to this being a disarmed seeker. Their mobility is roughly on par with an Agile Guard)

Ranking
Seekers are often found guarding and searching wagons containing hay or piles of hay. They often travel with other soldiers, usually 'regular' soldiers, in groups of 4. They appear to be higher ranked than the highest ranking regular guard, though this doesn't matter much in combat.

Special Seekers
*Rodrigo Borgia, during a certain fight with him, attacks and defends much like a Seeker. He may even use the sweep attack the seekers use. Be warned, as he has far more health than an average seeker.
*The Farmer (a Lieutenant of Girolamo Savonarola) of the DLC Bonfire of the Vanities carries a Pitch fork and fights like one

One of the new guard archetypes is the Agile Guard who, as its name suggests, is a very fast, lightly armored enemy. They even run faster than Ezio and also have the free-run ability leading to chase sequences. The Agile Guards were designed to flee and alert nearby guards if Ezio is successful in killing a Brute or most of the enemies rather than fight or chase Ezio and stop him if the player attempts to flee in a fight.

Combat
The Agiles fight like most enemies only with short sheathable weapons such as daggers and short blades. They mostly appear in Venice.

If you confront an agile, you can attack him until you see that he is becoming tired (you will know he is tired when he is lowering his arms and panting), then, he will be an easy prey for countering or for a combo. This is explained by the trainer in Monteriggioni.

When they do draw their weapon out, they will do just weak attacks and only attack when he gets an opportunity to strike. Since they are very fast, they will dodge most of Ezio's basic attacks. Also, Agiles are not very strong, which means they won't be able to counter Ezio's counter-kills. Their armor strength is identical to that of Standard Guards.

Weaponry
The Agile guards are somewhat weak as they do not fight well and only do a good job of running, which explains for their small, weak weaponry and armour. The small weapons that the Agiles commonly use mostly consist of Daggers. Some of them wield Short Blades instead of daggers.

Strategy
Combat: Fighting an Agile requires little patience. They can, and will, dodge your attacks. If you wait for them to attack, you can easily counter them for a one-hit-kill.

Escape: Agiles are very fast on foot, however, using free-running to traverse buildings will lose them. They possess the same free run acrobatics Ezio can do. The best method of escape is jumping into water. If you aren't near water, and you can't happen to escape them, the best way to finally rid yourself of an Agile is to just attempt to fight them. Or just use a sword, grab them and kill.

Ranking
Agiles are usually found in the city of Venice and usually hang around Brutes and more heavily armored guards such as Seekers.

Special Agiles
Usually, a shinier and more abstract design in armor distinguishes a higher level of skill in an agile.
<!--(add information of some one important on the game or a target that moves or attack like an agile)-->
